Light and Rain::..

Legend speaks of a time; after many years, the heroes would finally awaken. Several people would play a game that would change everything.

This is the discussion thread for the roleplay Light and Rain. It’s for everything that is not in character. ^^ Anybody is welcome to post.

Summary:
Several people install a game leading to a new universe only to find that they must enter it to narrowly escape death. As it turns out, survival isn’t their only purpose in this new land; they must save and rebuild the world, soon to be brought down. But this game isn’t one to be played, and they must risk their lives to do so.

(You don’t have to read this. o3o)

Terms:
Center – A kingdom that once withheld the denizens, but was destroyed. The planets revolved around it.
Void – The empty space that the planets now revolve around, since the Center was destroyed.
denizen – An extremely large and powerful creature that slumbers in a structure on the land. Each land has its own denizen that used to rule over it.
consort – A simpleminded but civilized species of creature that inhabits the land. Each planet has its own unique species.

What do portals do?
Portals float in the sky and serve as transportation. Installing the game opens one above the player’s house, and when they go through, they wake up on their planet. Each planet has several portals that lead to the other planets.

What’s the setting?
Modern day in late spring/early summer. Your character can live anywhere. Once they make it through the portal, they will wake up on their planet and can travel to other planets.

How do the characters know what they’re supposed to do?
Certain classes such as Mage and Seer are good at figuring out these things, depending on their aspect. There are also the consorts, monsters, and even denizens who may be able to share their knowledge.

Are the characters inside the game or a computer or something?
No; the game merely serves as a gateway that allows them into the other universe, which is where they are.

What counts as literate and illiterate?
Literacy is defined as the ability to read and write, so please try your best to do this well. I won’t kill you for a typo; in fact, I shall celebrate the fact that you are indeed a human and shall make mistakes. :] And if you’re not a human, that’s fine too.

Does my character have to do what you wrote?
No. Some parts are in second person because I was more comfortable with it, but it’s not referring to your character or anyone in particular. The only thing they really have to do is install the game.

Who lived in the Center?
That’s open for interpretation. I personally like to believe it was inhabited by large, sentient food items.

What enters the new universe?
Only the player, and whatever they bring into the portal.

Land of Cubes and Yore: A world of medieval architecture with fiery skies that fade to indigo at night. Empty castles and such cover the land, and everything is made of cubes, making the place look like something that came out of Minecraft. There are no plants anywhere, just buildings. However, there are also several enormous lakes spread throughout that sometimes show images of the past, but they are impossible to understand. Although the water is colorless, it is very reflective, so it’s usually red-orange or purple like the sky. There is a system of automatic air trams used to transport people across the lakes, though their safety is questionable. At the center of the planet, where the core would be on Earth, is the denizen’s structure. There is a special elevator-like passageway necessary to get in, but the door only opens at midnight. The consorts are red weasels who are fixed on the pursuit of knowledge and speak in rhyme. They get sick easily and sneeze a lot.

Land of Iron and Movement: A bright, active world with treadmills covering the entire ground, aside from where there are a few ponds. Towers of iron framework with ladders to climb up or down rise from the floor. Beams connect the towers, and although most are just framework, some have libraries containing useful information. The denizen lives in one of these libraries, and airborne swans inhabit the land. The sky, decorated with turquoise clouds, is dark blue at night and pink during the day.

Land of Sea and Crags: A watery world mainly consisting of a large, gray and restless looking sea. The sky above is always cloudy and dreary, without sun, and blends in with the sea on the horizon. Tall, rough and craggy pillars which form small clefts jut out of the sea here and there. These pillars sometimes group together to form small gray and rocky islands that grow only sparse foliage and are generally boring. There are a few large islands worth exploring that dot the sea here and there, and here the animals, strange fish tribes, make their homes in the rocky holes at the base of the cliffs on these islands- half in and half out of the ocean. The large islands have forests of jungle trees which looks as dreary and dying as the rest of the world. The denizen lives on one of these large islands, in a small rocky underground cave system.

Land of Wool and Blossom: A world formed primarily of clouds with the consistency of thick, fluffy wool- enough to support a human's weight, yet still float midair- and radiant orange rock which glitters like gold in the sun. Dark purple flowers with luminescent blue pollen grow in clusters on the clouds, and their roots turn the patch of snow-white wool they inhabit grey, then black. The sky is a pale purple, yet sets bright green in the afternoon. This world is inhabited by sheep.

Land of Exsanguination and Hegemony: It is mostly covered in forests that consist of black trees with leaves of red and crimson. Bone-colored grass that is prickly to the touch resides in caves hidden deep in the forests. The sky is a tinted a slight red in the day and a deep purple at night. Silver clouds float in the sky. Many clearings in the forests are filled with untamed rose blants. The flowers are black, while the stems are gray, and the thorns- red. There are no oceans, lakes or ponds of any kind, but rivers of red stone, making the flowing water look like blood. Bats that can grow up to the size of tigers reside in every dark crevice and cave on this land. They are a deep, dark red colour, with the same eye color as Fang. These winged creatures can live off of almost anything, though they prefer flesh and blood. A dark, haunted, Transylvanian looking castle is in the center of one of the many forests. The denizen lives in a large underground cave.

Land of Madness and Insanity: Tall grass colored pearly white resides on land. The white grass ends abruptly in front of a menacing forest of gold trees with blue tear-drop shaped leaves. There are stormy oceans and gray clouds that hang low in the sky. Shiny stone litter the sea bottom that glint in the light. The sun shines extremely brightly in the morning in while there is little to no light at night. The land contrasts extremely from Day and Night. In the morning, the land is tinted a slight red, orange, but at night it turns into a pale bone color. The hyenas that inhabit the land could drive people insane with their crazy laughter. Staying far enough way so that you couldn't see them, but close enough to hear their echoing howls and laughter.

Land: Land of Stones and Gems - A land in which its inhabitants rely primarily on the mines for income. The people are either very poor, or very rich. The rich are natuarally the owners of the mines, and the poor, the miners. The land is almost like mars in that it's basically a red rock, with little beauty to give. The sky is a dusty orange and there seems to be no plant life. The plants, however, are disguised as rocks. The housing here includes; simple caves, small ramshackle huts, or large villas surrounding mines. However, the precious jewels that are recovered from the mines are beyond beautiful. They are extravagant and come in all different colors. The inhabitants are troll-like creatures with rusty brown skin. The hair on their heads tend to be dark, earthy tones, and there are no blondes. They are short, squat, and don't wear muchc clothing. These creatires tend to be hunched over and have large, orb-like eyes. Their body builds vary, but their skin is rough and flabby.

Appearance: June has very short black hair, brown eyes, and light skin that doesn't get much sunlight. She often wears a thick hairband, and she has long, parted bangs. June is of average height, though a little on the short side. Since she doesn't care about fashion and rarely leaves the house, she sticks with comfortable clothes that one would wear at home.
Personality: June is inquisitive, having a strong interest in science, particularly astronomy. She rarely takes things seriously and is optimistic. Though introverted, she is vocal with her opinions and argumentative, and she doesn't bother to make friends or consider others' needs. She likes things neat and orderly. Her other interests include gymnastics, plush animals, glassware, and all types of games.
Background: June lives in an old, weathered two-story house in the eastern United States. Her area is rainy and chilly almost year-round. June is homeschooled with a tutor, and normally has the house to herself because her parents are often busy at work. She has a pet turtle named Crater and is a friend of Chris Man Lee, who used to live nearby before he moved and now talks to her over the internet.

Appearance: Chris has messy, light brown hair, slightly tanned skin, and navy blue eyes that are a little bit squinty. Tall, well built, and strong, he can appear somewhat intimidating to strangers despite his good nature.
Personality: Man Lee is courageous and competitive, always trying to improve himself. He can be a little rambunctious and is friendly toward new people. His interests include working out, puns, and archery. Chris prefers not to stay at home, and goes to the gym or another public place whenever he can. His two greatest fears are teddy bears and being unable to go to the gym.
Background: Chris is independent, generally taking care of himself. He does whatever he wants without restriction from his parents, and thus, he mainly works out in his free time. He has a 25-year-old sister who was abandoned at birth because she was a disgrace to the family, so he never knew her. Chris used to live in the east, but now lives in an apartment in California.

Appearance: Around the average height and weight for her age. She has smooth, dark cocoa colored skin, and short, thick curly brown hair that curls close to her head. Her eyes are a deep chocolate-y color. She has a thin and somewhat flat frame; is a bit petite and not very muscular nor strong. Her facial features are soft and make her look a bit childish, as she has prominent cheekbones and large eyes. This makes her look a year or two younger than she is, and she resents this to its fullest. 

Personality: A sarcastic, adaptable, and highly sociable(when you get to know her)girl. She has a long stubborn streak, and is strong-headed and may act as if she has a need to be correct at times. Strong willed, and prefers to stay independent from other people(as in not having to depend on some one or having some one depend on her). Dislikes having to "babysit" others. Highly self-sufficient but still enjoys to company of a few other agreeable people or friends. 

Interest List:
-A webcomic called Stuck At Home. *cough*
-She loves the water as she lives by a craggy coast, and enjoys a variety of water-related activities. Anything from swimming to surfing, and she just loves the ocean in general.

Her Mom ran a funeral home, and Alyssa's house acted as a place for funeral service on more than one occasion. She goes to a private all girl schools.

Appearance: Long, light blonde hair with a pony tail at the back, leaf-green eyes, and a face so pretty that people mistake him for a girl. He barely ever wears an expression other than his bright, sunny smile with such sincerity you would have to be cold and heartless not to smile back! He is small for his age and is not very strong, but is fit and in good shape. His eyes, however, are farsighted, so he wears glasses for things close up.
Personality: A very caring, kind-hearted individual who could not hurt a fly. He is always forgiving and naively believes the best of people, though he is also very sensitive, timid and easily upset. Evan has the sweetest temper and has never been known to raise his voice in anything other than excitement, which is often. Because of his country isolation, he is very shy around new people. His interests include fantasy novels, gardening- particularly growing herbs to use in his favourite pastime: cooking (he's a vegan, btw). Occasionally he also makes sweets, but is notorious for adding far too much sugar. He pretends to like his brother's crappy horror movies, but can't take ten minutes of them without breaking into tears.
Background: Evan lives on a farm in the countryside of New Zealand with his twenty-one year old brother. He has to do a lot of the work and they barely scrape by, so only in the last year has he got a computer and internet. Between work and his correspondence schooling, Evan hardly has any time to himself. Things were a lot easier when his parents were there, however they died three years ago in an escalator accident, and Evan's brother left his heavy metal rock band to return home and look after him. Evan has never been to a city, in fact, he's only visited the small nearby town twice; he's scared of new places. Just this year he made his very first friend Alyssa online, who convinced him to play this game with her.
