~~~BASIC PLOT~~~

In the current era there are no longer real stars at night. People look up at the nighttime sky and see the glittery sparkles of vast white dots, but know that they are not real. Everyone wonders what happened to the true stars, but the secret is hidden deep within the government. There are humans- or not so human-like creatures- who have special abilities given to them by the gate called contractors. They are able to wield and manipulate one element at the price of their contract. The appearance of these contractors has caused the old stars to disappear forever and be replaced with the life of the contractors. If a contractor is to die, a star will fall out of the sky.

The gate is a tall, thick concrete wall that formed around a part of the city to contain a virus that mutates humans into contractors. It holds the secrets to the creation of the contractors and the disappearance of the stars, but no human has ever been able to go inside the gate without being infected by the deadly virus inside. The police and government try to keep everything supernatural hidden from the public view and kill any contractors they can find, out of fear of the unknown.

Recently, researchers have begun to learn how to send people inside the gate without having them infected by the virus. They learned of a way to destroy the gate and the virus for good, but doing this will cause the contractors to disappear forever.

Both sides are arming themselves with allies and weapons for an upcoming war that will change mankind forever.

Now is the time.

You must decide if you want to fight for the contractors or for the humans.

(This RP is based off the Anime Darker than BLACK. If you haven't seen it, you can still RP! ^-^)

~~~SPECIES~~~

Contractors: These are the humans infected by the virus. They have special abilities, either elemental or physical, that they use to defend themselves. However, each time they use their abilities they must abide by their contract. Their contract is something they must do to themselves every time they use their powers; such as, singing a song or organizing a set of books in alphabetical order.

Police Officers: Self explanatory; they are trying to find and hunt down the contractors so they can save mankind from this deadly virus.

Humans: Oblivious to what's going on around the gate and who contractors are. Most of them are kept hidden from the secrets it holds by the government.

Power: He can turn himself into a shadow at will.
Contract: Clive has to sit still after (or meditate, as he prefers to call it "I have dignity, you know!") for at least ten minutes. He probably wouldn't be an over-thinker at all unless he had to do as such.
Appearance: Has deep expressive blue eyes flecked with gold. Lean and only slightly muscled, he's more angular and chiseled than anything. His hair is dirty blonde and slightly curled, he keeps it medium-longish but not shoulder length. Enjoys clothes that set off his best features, his eyes. He's at 6 feet exactly, so he's not short nor tall for a guy.
Personality: Despite being a charmer and knowing it, he's really sweet and his friendliness is almost always genuine. Can be terrible if anyone messes with his twin sister. He is always trying to help and make your day. Gentlemanly, can have a dark side. An over-thinker, but can easily fight and traverse the streets unseen without using his power.
Brief History: He didn't remember how it happened. He only remembered the day he had discovered he had the disease. He was in the washroom, assessing himself in the mirror, wishing he didn't exist. After all, who wanted to live like this- practically on the streets save for a dingy apartment? and all of a sudden he was.. gone. Mariel had come running. His screams were not normal. But he was. He was back. His reflection was once more there. And he vowed to himself that Mariel would never have to experience what he did. He would protect her- until his very star fell out of the sky.

Appearance: Has the same eyes as her twin brother, except hers hold more depth and emotion. She is a petite 5'3 and often has to gaze upwards to those she is talking to. She has a halo of curls the same as her brother's, although hers reach her mid-back, and are slightly more golden-colored. Not plump but not skinny, she's very pretty. Beauty runs in the genes. All clothes she wears seem to look like they were made especially for her- she's that pretty.
Personality: She has a carefree act, all happy and laughing at everything, brining joy into the universe. Kind and good, it's hard NOT to trust or like her. She can see through many acts after years of watching Clive's girlfriends, and her flaw is that she believes she will always be second-rate to her brother, not that anyone knows that. She's really sweet and barely starts fights, and if she ever gets into one she'll always apologize first. Both twins have the self-appointed job of protecting each other and are over thinkers, and just as street-smart as the other. She tries hard to be the light in the darkness that threatens to smolder them both.
Brief History: Mariel came to her brother as fast as she could. Those screams- But her brother wasn't there, until suddenly a shadow seemed to shift into the boy in question. Being too small to comfort him the way he did her by pulling her into his lap, Mariel did the next best thing. She made him sit on the closed toilet lid and wiped his silent tears away, asking him soft questions and letting him talk. She couldn't believe that her Clive was crying, much less afraid. That was the first time Mariel figured it out. Everybody was all a little bit broken, no matter how they pretended otherwise.

@ninzie Egg Cave time is Eastern Standard time. So unless you live on the East coast of the United States or your clock is broken, the time will be different. Egg Cave uses this time to release new eggs and such so one time must be consistant and that's why Egg Cave time might be different than your own. Also, these sort of questions should go in the help section. Not on a random post because it is considered spam. Just remember for next time. ^-^

Power: Bend metal into anything he desires.
Contract: Must read a chapter of a textbook.
Appearance: Medium-length black hair that hangs just above his light blue eyes. He is short for a guy, only standing at about 5' 10", and his body is slightly muscular mostly in his arms and shoulders, but the rest of him is lean. He has a slightly darker skin tone that looks like a dark tan to most. Lastly, he prefers to wear loose clothes that don't constrict his body.
Personality: He has a cold personality and could be considered a complete "jerk" to an average person. He's headstrong, bossy, and tends to snap at anyone who shows even the slightest weakness. This causes him to be extremely disliked by others. He's a loner at first, but begins to realize that in order to win the battle for the contractor's survivability he must befriend people, which causes him to try and act a bit nicer to others.
Brief History: He was the average high school student, until one day there was the appearance of the gate. All the original stars fell from the sky and were replaced with cheap replicas, but he didn't really think to much about it since the news didn't really say much. One day, when he was fixing his car, a piece of the metal morphed into his hand and turned into a blade. He was startled by it at first, but as he practiced with his new ability he felt he could become stronger and use it against others.

Gender: Female
Age: 12
Race: Contractor
Power: She can control animals and make them do as she pleases.
Contract: Must hold a dog or another animal with lots of hair.
Appearance: She is a small girl, only 4' 5", with shoulder-length brown hair and blonde highlights mixed in it. Her skin has a hint of a slight tan, but is no where near someone who has spent a huge amount of time in the sun. Much like her hair, her eyes are a dark brown. She enjoys wearing what most would call "cute clothes" consisting of dresses, shorts, shirts, and other accessories.
Personality: She has a very bubbly, hyper personality. She is a social butterfly, loving to talk, and sometimes annoying, the people she is around. She doesn't seem to care about the horrible things that happen to her, playing it off as just a joke to her, which causes some people to wonder if she even cares.
Brief History: Since the appearance of the gate, her parents have become very strict on house-rules for the sake of her safety. They ordered her around, told her what to do, and yelled or punished her if she even spoke out against them. During a particularly horrible day, she was crying to her pet dog, Pepper, and told him that she wished she could run away. Sure enough, the dog replied by helping her escape and she realized that she had a special gift with animals.

Contract: She must cut herself.
Appearance: Short, tan, spunky-looking girl with freckles all over her face, trailing from each cheekbone to the other, crossing the bridge of her nose and a scrawny build. Her arms are covered with small scars, and she has long, chocolate brown curly hair that cascades down to the middle of her back in big ringlets. She has deep green eyes. She likes to wear a plain black tee shirt dark wash skinny jeans with her favorite checkered (black and white) Vans. She always carried a small pocket knife on her.
Personality: Storm does what she wants, when she wants to do it. She's very hard-headed and stubborn, and hates it when people try to control her. She is kind at heart, but can be very rude at times and has a awful temper.
Brief History: Storm lived with both her parents, but moved out as soon as she could drive. She doesn't visit often. One day when she was really angry, a small flame shot out of her hand. Storm honed this power until she realized what it was doing to her (she'd been kind of oblivious and naive at first). She still uses this power, but not nearly as much as she'd like to.

Also, Clive and Mariel both don't want to fight in the war- they're kind of stuck in the crossfire since one of them is human and the other isn't. It shall be interesting indeed. xD I have to commend your idea though- it's a very good one.

Uh, one thing again. The contract is something contractors have to do AFTER they use their powers as like...a price for using their powers. It's what they absolutely HAVE to do. I suggest you think of something Clive absolutely /hates/ doing and work with something along those lines.

And yea, very nicely done~ 😊

I try. Like it says up there, the concept is taken from an Anime, but I figured it'd be interesting to turn into an RP.

Power: She can control water, but she cannot create it, but with moisture she can make water, snow, ice e.t.c.
Contract: She must be silent for 15 minutes.
Appearance: Wait length black hair and ice blue eyes. Her skin is slightly tanned and she has freckles from one cheekbone to other going over her nose. She also has a scar from her wrist to her elbow on her left arm. She wears a pink headband, light blue glasses, a golden heart locket necklace, a pink tank top underneath a green aeropostale sweater, blue skinny jeans, and knee high tan boots.
Personality: Kind and sweet and makes friends easily. She is a chatterbox and it is very hard for her to be silent for even 30 seconds. Sometimes her anger is boiling over the top and other times she's very emotional, but in the end she's a great friend.
Brief History: She lived with her parents and younger sister on the farm until she turned 17. She then worked with her best friend to teach children how to ride horses. She then moved to New York city where she now lives in a small house with her black german sheperd Candy.

Appearance: Rick has short dark brown hair cut in the usual classy business-cut most guys get and some facial hair. He has hazel eyes that stand out to his pale skin and his body has some muscle to him. He wears a dark gray suit, a white dress shirt under that and a black tie as his usual "work clothes".
Personality: He's very calm and collected, taking his job very seriously. He keeps to himself most of the time, preferring to work on his own, than with others, but when put into a group situation he takes the leadership role. He tries to protect the people around him as much as he can and has a strong distaste towards the contractors.
Brief History: Ever since he was a teenager, Rick wanted to work for the police department in some way. After studying at a school for young trainees, he was able to get into the city's local police department and help fight crime. His life was going pretty good, until the appearance of this new disease and gate made his way into the city. Now, around him, he sees the destruction the contractors are doing and seeks to put a stop to them.

Power: Same as @marinalily 's Clive (trust me, we've cleared this) but he doesn't need to touch a mirror after spending a year in a diseased place called "Shadowland" and had to learn how to control it.
Contract: After he does the shadow thing, he will be sort of "haunted" by all the shadows that were following him in the Shadowland. Basically, they'll be following him around, making it hard for him to see, like grabbing onto him and he normally has to sit very quietly in a corner with his head in his hands to avoid being dragged back to the the Shadowland.

Brief History: Him and Clive ( @marinalily's guy character ) used to be best friends, and he used to have a little crush on Mariel. He went through the gates at the exact same time as Clive, which is why they both got the same power, with a similar contract. They were dared by their old friends before they knew that it was diseased.

Okay so it's a place that was invented along with the disease, but sort of forgotten about because a whole bunch of weird stuff ended up there. Like the doll's consciences locked up in big tanks, and all the evil and anger in people who died from the disease. Chris almost died doing some really stupid, crazy thing to test his powers, and ended up there.
Is that okay?

I won't exactly go with the doll's consciousness being locked up in that place, since dolls were...uh...how to explain...more severely infected by the virus, which caused them to be less human than the contractors? o:

It /is/ a disease that gives them powers and deteriorates their human characteristics, so it wouldn't really make sense for their memories/human characteristics to be "locked" up somewhere.

Personality: She doesn't really have a good one. She was always rather nasty, and she always likes to steal boys from other girls to make them green with envy.

Brief History: She was always rich and spoiled as a child, and will throw a tantrum if she doesn't get what she wants. She gets most pride from getting stuff she's can't or shouldn't have. The reason she's like this, even if she'd never admit it, is because when she was very young, her mom passed away. After that, she never got a lot of love in her life. Her dad would buy her any of the things she would ask for, but he never hugged her or put her to bed at night. He never told her that she was the best little girl, or tuck her in and read her bedtime stories. She's become very sour, and doesn't believe in real love any more because she hasn't had anyone to love her since she was about four.

I might actually be removing dolls as actual characters to play, since they're kinda "uninteresting" and don't really do too much. Your human/contractor /can/ still have a doll, but it would be reduced to much like...uh...a cell phone. xD

Doll's only purpose is to just find other people/contractors with their abilities, so they would be really boring to play. Sorry for any confusion!!
