@nenielsen
Not trying to be rude or anything, but if you don't like the new creatures, don't get them! If you want more "original" creatures, go make a suggestion.
Even if you make a suggestion, it doesn't mean it will get made.

And if you feel sick of repeats, then just leave. Of course there are going to be some repeats; some creatures are just literally more common than others. Just don't start raging over a game. Please.

Just going to repeat myself so you don't go and block me or something of the sort (wouldn't care anyways) But I am not trying to be mean. I am stating my opinion, and by posting your topic, you are stating yours.

I agree with @newlife. Sorry, but you don't need to rant about the creatures here, and hey, maybe it's just that some people like certain types of creatures more than others; so Egg Cave will satisfy them by making that kind of creature (hint hint, dogs and wolves). And you've written plenty of "1s" up there, too -_-

@newlife @lemonade
Don't worry you guys don't sound that rude. 😉 Yeah the problem is the only exciting thing that happens in egg cave are the new creatures. The plots are usually pretty boring, at least for me.

I've made tons of suggestions, of course none of them have been picked, but that's okay. I don't want to quit because I actually like most of egg cave's creatures, and if you take a look at my cove, I'm not about to throw all those sweet creatures away.

The main thing I'm trying to say here is that 21 very similar cats, dogs, and dragon creatures are not what egg cave needs more of. There are plenty of 1s, but seriously, 21? And think of all the animals egg cave hasn't done.

Anyway, I get why you to are annoyed about this topic I made, but this section is for site feedback, not just ideas. It may be a rant, but I'm allowed to post here, and if you don't like it, than read someone elses topic.

Thx for the input anyway! 😉

@nenielsen Ok, not to be rude, but this has HONESTLY been discussed before. (Not exactly what you are complaining about, but it was close)

I'll quote you here;

"Why are all the newer creatures just lamer copies of the older ones?"

What most people don't seem to understand is that there are artists who read this. I understand that you may feel these creatures are lame, but being as blunt as you are here is a tad rude. What they also don't get is that there are about 200 creatures on EC now. They come up with 4 new creatures every single month that go (somewhat) with a 'theme' of the month. Eventually it gets harder to come up with new ideas, and they only have a month to get the ideas and execute them. They have lives outside of managing the site, and artists can get flaky. Some creatures' art was made overnight by the artists, so some creatures are bound to be a bit rushed. You have to cut them some slack here; there isn't much they can do in a month.

There's also only a limited amount of interesting animals to use in good designs. If you want an original creature like the Yeep, for example (with no real resemblance to any earthly animal) then you need to do a lot of thinking. There's of course, the matter of the design, which since you have nothing to go off of here, could prove extremely difficult to come up with. Then you have the issue of what this creature is: what's it's purpose? How does it eat (etc.)? Why does it look the way it does? Is it nocturnal? What are it's strengths? Weaknesses? Four original species a month, along with the upkeep of the site AND juggling a personal life is a bit much to ask.

All I'm saying is even though there seems to be a lot of the same animals, think about how hard their jobs must be to juggle with their actual lives. And even so, all of the animals have their own special twist. I don't see much to complain about.

And again, sorry if I sound rude.

Deleted • 30 November 2013 at 5:43 PM

@nenielsen not to be rude or anything,but what's the point of ranting about it?? If you don't like it then make a suggestions or leave,there's no reason to rant about the bad stuff. I like the eggcave so if you are upset about just the "variety" of the creatures,why make a conversation about it??? Make a suggestion or leave. I understand that it can get boring when there are repeats but MAYBE people are trying to be creative and make the original creature BETTER. Don't hate on the people who made the ideas,they are awesome,and you shouldn't judge. Ok,I'm done, no rudeness intended.

Honestly, I think it's a good thing to rant about the creatures so that next month they're even better and more people will buy them. It's unnecessary for someone to leave the site just because a few creatures aren't to their liking.

The point of this thread is to get feedback on ideas and that's the point! Without feedback things wouldn't be changed or improved so please stop being nasty about it!

In the past few months the montly's art has been lacking compared to previous months whether you want to agree with it or not. It is expected that people would want to see creatures that they haven't seen before and not just slight variations of the same thing because it'll just get tedious boring. People make suggestions for this reason and that is why they should be taken into account more often.

This post has nothing to do with the artwork but more with the ideas centered around the artwork. Therefore I agree that the creatures seem to be repeating and I hope that in the future there will be better variations for everyone to spend their money on. 😊

@brookie I honestly don't think that the art has been lacking. And people aren't being nasty, they're sharing their own opinions just like you and nenielsen have, and that's fine.

No they are criticizing the idea. The art is lacking in that it's not the same style that everyone is used to.

Just like Nenielsen is criticizing the new creatures, by saying, "why are all the newer creatures just lamer copies of the older ones?." And I'm glad the art style has changed, it makes things more interesting. To each his/her own 😊

Wow so many posts! I've been gone for just a few hours.... 😱
@newlife and @lemonade should see this if you two are still interested. 😊

@ems
I see where your coming from. Most people put a lot into the artwork and the suggestions they make. I know I sound harsh, but I'm trying to get across that when you pay five dollars for a single CSP creature, it better be good. As brookie said, I'm more criticizing the ideas that are so similar to older, better creatures. I'm not going to quit over this, I'm just trying to get it out there that me, and others like brookie, are sick of these creatures and aren't about to pay real money for them. You said its hard to come up with these ideas, but thats exactly why there are user suggestions! I've made plenty of original suggestions, and of course none of them have been picked. BTW here they are: #nenielsencreatureideas 😊 The real world is really a vast place, there are so many different kinds of animals, I doubt that egg cave has come even close to making half of them.

@katdemon9
I'm ranting because I want people to know! Debating over controversy is a big part of the world. I'm NOT quitting. Have you seen my cove? No way I'm givin up those sweet creatures over this. I am not "hating" on artists. I'm an artist ( #nenielsencreatureideas). It's more that I'm hating on the similarity to older creatures. 😋

@brookie
YES finally someone understands! You got it right on. Thank you. X)

@circus
I wouldn't say the art style has changed... I see what your saying about liking the newer creatures, and really they aren't that bad in my opinion. It's just that they are so SIMILAR to the older ones! I've been on here for years, and it gets boring to have the same animals released one after the other.

Okay guys. I've heard all of you say something like "not to be rude" but I think we're past that. You and I have all kinda sounded rude, and it's frivolous to deny it. Really, it's nice to try not to, but this is a very controversial topic here on egg cave, and everyone has their own opinion. Whether your angry about my posting this topic, or angry about the angry people, that anger is based on a compassion for egg cave. Otherwise, why would we all be so riled up?

Thanks so much for sharing your opinions, all of you!~❤️
Please ping friends! It would be nice to have more input. 😃

Well now I feel silly. XD I completely forgot the user suggestions. ^^" I see where you're coming from too. But I guess it could be said that no one has to buy any of the CC creatures if they don't like them either. ^^ Well in any case, I guess I do somewhat agree that there could be a wider variety of creatures. 😋 I'm just not really here for the creatures anymore, mostly the forums and friends. ^^"

Oops just throwing myself in here but, I am kind of in the middle.

I love the older creatures, I'm not too fond of the new creatures, but only the cc ones. I'm honestly just giving my opinion and not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, because I, am too, an artist, and I have extreme difficulties with original ideas, sometimes I will look at other things, and get inspired. I think that MAY BE why some of them are similar, but again, who am I to judge. I've never actually made a suggestion I am fully contempt with, so when someone's gets made I try not to be harsh about it.

I feel like the cave monthlies are okay, but the cc ones just don't seem like they're worth money. The style has changed, not good in my opinion, but some people do like them. Its all a matter of personal opinion. c:

(I hope this wasn't rude or anything I just wanted to throw my opinion in).

@nenielsen xD I tend to be a mildly agreeable person. 😋
I completely understand then lol. If I played for the creatures I'd probably be a little angry too. ^^" I also noticed as of late (this was a few months ago, I'm not entirely sure if it's still a problem) there was a large lack in user suggestions that were made. It's a little bothering since many have been complaining about the creatures recently, so I wasn't sure why more suggestions were made.

@dawnfur don't worry about it, you sound really kind. 😊

Yeah, for me its more the CSP monthlies. They used to be good, but now they're starting to look more like LEs or even common cave creatures. :|

It's nice to hear someone's "middle" opinion. 😃

The other thing is that they are so similiar too! X(

@ems

What I've noticed in the recent suggestions is that they are so similar to older ones... no more dogs, cats, horses, ect. please!

I even made a suggestion recently, the Shoklate, and if it gets made it will be like the 7th sheep.... 😋 I'm a sucker for sheep... I have a small herd of 6 sheep in real life.

@nenielsen has the right to rant, and I too believe that criticism is fine for improvements to be made. Do I think that there are probably too many variations of the same pet? Yes, but I also believe that the wolves, dragons, cute felines, etc are the most popular with the users here, so it's not surprising. Supply meets demand, after all.

There are some occasional "original" pets, not based on real animals, however, to create some variety. I think right now there is still a good balance between familiarity and originality. It was more off last year when everything seems to be dragons, wolves, and cats!

@mrsgiggles

Lol love the username BTW! 😊

Yeah, your right, the repeats are always the popular animals. Yup, and there is still a variety.

I'm the kind of person who likes the unpopular animals, hence this so far never-ending rant of mine. 😊

Thanks! 😃

I see nothing wrong with this complaint itself; it is a valid one. Besides, the purpose of the site feedback forum is to offer feedback, positive and negative, so that the site may improve. The problem I have is the way it's been addressed. Also, regularly pointing people toward your own suggestions while you put down others' kind of weakens your argument. Just a word of advice.

But on one hand, I kind of agree with you. There are many creatures I'd like to see that haven't been made yet, even variations of some of those creatures you mention being too many of. For instance, I don't think we have an actual domestic dog, do we? We have wolves and really mystical looking ones, but nothing exactly plain, everyday dog like a beagle or golden retriever. Also, perhaps I'm biased because I love birds very much, but there are other birds besides owls and crows and parrots and penguins. An emu or ostrich? Another song bird (I love the Blu and Laniwon for this reason; they resemble a certain type of bird!)

I'm also still waiting on a pig and rhino creature.

@nenielsen

I agree with your opinions. Each month I kinda get excited and just to see another cat, dog, or other creature that was released two months ago. I can't personally buy my own CC so I rely on trading (and not to say I hate cats, I love them if they have cute stages) but the fact that maybe EggCave could be losing money because of the repeats of creatures and users not inclinded to buy may be a problem but I don't ever see a mass "not buying" happening, there is always a lot of people that will want them.

But I really want something interesting, like @metaphor said some domestic animal ideas *like cats and dogs and goats because I raised them* but since I can't draw I have problems even suggesting ideas...but this is just my opinion!

@metaphor

Yeah, I'd love to see an ostrich or emu get made! Love those things. And realistic dogs would be good, too. I'd really like for there to be a chicken.

Thanks for the advice. 😊

@jazzyleia

Yes. I am so sick of the repeats. Egg cave is probably losing lots of money on this. Although some people think that the reapeats are cute, I feel that more than half of us are just bored with them...

I can draw, and I've made suggestions! Please check them out! #nenielsencreatureideas
