Jk lol. Im in the process of making a suggestion with someone, but sure, finding out which ones havent been used yet would come in handy.

@nenielsen I ah... I know. You posted the link a few times ^^ I've checked them out, about a half of them. I'm not nearly done yet, but I promise to see them.
I think the stingray and a bat could make good suggestions? a rattlesnake as well. Can you tell I'm obsessed with reptiles? XD

@jupiter_hollow lol yes. 😊 I think instead of listing creatures that haven't been done yet we should just draw them and post them as suggestions. 😊

@nenielsen I'd like to toss in another opinion about the loss of money due to repeats. xD

So, if I am correct, the ads pay to be on here, right?
Well since EC is more popular, they should be making more money. But because of the repeat CSPs, they're supposedly losing money. What irritates me the most about this is that they have pop-up ads when you page is loading. I hate pop-up ads. They make me want to cry. I'll be sitting on my laptop, quietly derping around so my parents won't be mad that I'm interrupting TV shows, when BAM! an ad pops up on EC. I usually have my volume off, but my laptop is weird so sometimes it's actually on. It's incredibly annoying, especially with all the Call of Duty ads. NO, I DO NOT WANT TO BUY CALL OF DUTY. D:< Besides, the time it takes the page to 'load' in not as long as the time I am forced to watch these stupid ads. >n<

So if they would make non-repeat creatures so people would buy more CC, they wouldn't need these stupid pop-up ads.

@ems thats an interesting opinion you have! 😊 I think you can set your computer to disable pop up ads... I don't get them. O_o
It also sounds like you need a new laptop if its taking that long to load... 😋 But your right @ian is probably cashing in big time on those ads. Even if people spent more money on better CSP creatures, I doubt ian would take down pop up adds... :|

@nenielsen ASOADIO I must learn how to disable these evil ads.
Well my laptop is kid of old, but what I mean is I am forced to watch the ads longer than my laptop usually takes to load a page. xD My laptop is pretty fast, courtesy of my awesome dad. x3
He probably is... D: But the ads make me sad... ;-;
I dunno though, Ian seems to take users's opinions into more consideration than huge sites like Neopets. 😋

@nenielsen @ems @jupiter_hollow and others

I've been able to update our ad tags to block pop-ups, pop unders, expandable, and weird audio ads. Sorry that this slipped through the cracks.

In terms of creature "originality," I guess I am confused at how "original" a creature is judged. Would the Autuwl be considered unoriginal simply because another owl creature, the Wiset, already exists?

I'm trying to understand better. 😊 Any constructive feedback and suggestions are well-received.

I guess I myself don't mind repeats or when creatures seem similar to ones from before since I am kind of a newbie yet, so it's awful hard to get creatures from the past since many people aren't interested in trading them. A reason why I especially love the monthlies. I like originality, but when I can't obtain past creatures, I'd love to have a chance at more recent similar ones at least. 😃

Just some input from a newbies perspective. 😸

I for one love an array of different species of creatures , though more real is more to my liking; example the Foo

It is wonderful to me that there are different kinds of Owls (I love them). There isn't just ONE species of Owl in the real world, is there? Nor ONE species of horse, or canine, or feline, or feathered friends.

So, I say, if you aren't happy with variety, move on.
On the flip side; I am not a bug/insect creature, so seeing many of those, doesn't appeal to me. However, Egg Cave offers Variety!! If for some reason you @nenielsen are unhappy, then I'd say get creative!!!!! Offer something 'different' instead of being overly negative.

Oh, I wasn't aware this was a bug or something. xD Sorry for being a tad irritable about it. ^^" Thanks for being patient with my impatientness. X3

I'm not entirely sure myself.... I think the point being made is there's a lot of the same animals.. Which I don't have a problem with myself. I kind of like all the different kinds of animals and such. I'm just sort of in for the ride here; I don't really mind what creatures are made, I think they're all cool. 😋

@ian
What I mean when the creatures these days aren't "original" is that there are literally 21 types of dragons, 23 dogs/wolves, and 21 cats! Just seeing repeated, slightly different copies of these creatures and others come up every month is kind of sickening for me... it's like seeing the same plot in a movie over and over, just with different actors or whatever. When I call a creature unoriginal, I mean that its already been released before, only this time it is maybe a different color, or has wings or something only slightly different about it. I probably wouldn't go after the Autwul, calling it unoriginal, since there are only 2 other owl creatures, I'm more trying to point out the obvious ones. I wouldn't appreciate seeing another owl being released, though, I think 3 is a good number to leave it at. Recently, though I've been annoyed with the number of bears: they is nine of them, and most of them are polar bears....

What I'm trying to say in this topic is that I'm sick of going through this never-ending dog-cat-dragon-horse-rabbit-bear-rat-lion-deer-fish-fox-snake-squirrel-seal fest, it gets old seeing these animals over and over. I'd like to see new creatures.

Thanks so much for posting here! 😊 😃 😊

@aedia yeah, I'm an older member, and for me its irritating to see so many copies of the older creatures, especially since I'm not one for the popular dogs, cats, etc. I know its easier to get more recent versions, though, but still, it makes egg cave kinda boring for us oldies (old members 😋). Thanks for the input! We haven't really had any newbies post here yet (at least I don't think so!) 😃

@novrain62 you should look at all my creature suggestion: #nenielsencreatureideas

Actually, I don't feel that egg cave is diverse, because most groups of creatures based on animals are OF THE SAME KIND OF ANIMAL. Most of the canines/felines are based off of popular domestic breeds in the real world, the SAME breeds. Same with all the horses, and changing the colors of owls doesn't make them all that different... The world is a big place, with LOTS of different species and sub-species of organisms. Take chickens for example. I personally show chickens in the real world, and when you go to a chicken show, there are big chickens, small chickens, fat ones, skinny ones, even ones that look like giant balls of feathers. The problem with egg cave is that all the creatures are usually based on only a handful of the kinds of animals, maybe they're slightly different (say, color) but that doesn't make them different enough, at least for me. 😊 But thank you so much for your input!!! 😃

@ems sort of in it for the ride? Am I that exciting? xD lol

@Nenielsen (and any other interested parties)

You are very much right, Eggcave creatures have just plain stunk recently and since creatures is all there is to eggcave, eggcave stinks right now. The art has been subpar and instead of occasionally redesigning a previous good creature (who could fret about a snow Onny for long?) the releases have persistently been unimaginative and lower quality repetitions of things which have been done before. I used to be a big spender on here, but now I only come here to keep my pets alive. Eggcave is not on par with other sites at all, I found a completely free site which does tons of things more than eggcave does, for free. A list:

EC:
4 new pets a month
About 3 simple events a year (always hunts)
10 pets a day
1 game
Trading centre (no items)
Pets and items which are real money only are rule rather than exception
Backgrounds for pets
Free items from donations center (only if someone is generous enough to give them up)
10 name changes a month, but each name can only be used once

Anonymous awesome pet site:
Random large releases (10+ pets), some are alts of really popular species, but these are awesome to collect
4 large events this year (at least, I joined in february) with large amounts of new pets (50+)
5 pets a day from shops/adopts/the pound, but you can also get them from breeding, safarying, fishing, sacrificing, dailies, events etc
Lots to do, battling, breeding, daily games and freebies, events etc
Trading centre (items and site currency included)
Almost nothing is cash exclusive
No customization (but you can paint your pet to become a different variation, the inkjars are hard to get though)
Daily free items from several sources
Unlimited renames (no limitation to names either) and freezes
Pets never die (unless you decide to kill them one way or another 😈 )
Few clicks are needed to get adults (and you can buy these from the daycare, a few are free daily even)
You can have a truckload of pets (I own 1735 😋)
Trophies! 😃
Really nice users, if you're new getting freebies is easy
It's coupled to a large roleplaying guild on Gaia, with even more possibilities to get cool stuff (I hardly ever go there and still love the site though, I stink at rping)
Asking for pets which are not somehow marked as UFT is not allowed (so begging is practically non existant)
Rereleases happen and aren't a big deal, because there is plenty to hunt for.

There, rant over. I'll show myself out. If you're interested in joining the other site pm me or write on my wall (in case my mailbox is full) and I'll tell you where to go (may take me a while to respond though). I may even have some freebies if you stick around. 😊 I don't feel like drawing lots of noobs looking for flaws to make EC look good there, so I'm not gonna post a link in public.

Back to event pet hunting for me, dungeons here I come! 😸 Not gonna sulk on here any further.

Edit: Changed language, don't feel like getting in trouble with the mods and losing an account. I still like the pets I got during better days.

It looks to me, like you've listed may different varieties of creatures. It made me think, wow, isn't egg cave diverse! Also, wolves and dogs must be people's favourite types of creatures, so why not make more of them? 😊

@nenielsen

0_0 I just want to point out that your listing isn't all that consistent. For instance, you've put "birds" as one category, then "owls" as another? "Fish" and "bugs", and "plants"...? Shouldn't another category be "mammals"? "Rodents"? C'X There are quite a few lesser examples of this too... And you seem to be including big cats like your "lion" category in your "cat" one, which I first assumed to be just domesticated ones ><" It's... Confusing! ^^"
Most importantly, with turtles and tortoises, the former is aquatic and the latter is entirely land based... D:

I completely understand your complaint of the template of domesticated cats and dogs being overdone though. And my gosh, all the different kinds of rabbits is kind of hard to overlook come Easter time C'X
Personally I'd like to see more pets like the Mummar, Crystar, and Garo, which are rather difficult to identify in terms of animal species~ And the Snolo... < 3

Some of the argument for repeating similar species is to make it up for the new people who come and are pretty much never, ever going to get an Onny or what have you PP: After a certain amount of time, pets become almost unattainable, really...
Unless you have a ton of CC, or you're me... XD

I don't really think that's Eggcave is repeating too much. If I were you, I'd count with just species and see what you get~

@asi I know, I put some wider categories for some of the more vague animals, but there are no repeats... like,I didn't list owls in the bird category. 😉 Cats is for the domestic cats, I didn't list any lions in that category. Don't you worry, I know the difference between turtles and tortoises, I grouped the two of them together because they are both shelled reptiles, and the egg cave creatures that look like tortoises call them aquatic in their descriptions.

Also, some of the creatures could actually fit into more than one category, but I assure you, there are NO repeats! 😃

@steinway for, I think a lot of us, repeats are tiring. Honestly, I kinda hate dogs/wolves... they smell bad, drool, fart, etc... I'm sick of seeing so many of them, especially since they're all so similar (same breeds, pretty much).

@dionaea Is it just me or did my comments disappear... or did I not comment you on this topic? O_o

Thanks for your opinions everyone! 😃😊😃

@nenielsen I'm new to this site, but from what I've seen, it might be better if there were less new creatures released each month.

I understand that they are released in a bid to keep the site exciting and fresh for everyone, but I think it's quite stressful trying to keep up with every creature. I'm honestly struggling to remember the names of them - and I've spent a week just trawling through the archives.

In addition, as you've pointed out, some of the creatures are similar - this makes it very difficult to remember which creature is which. Some of them are simply not memorable, because they are too alike to another creature. This just makes me not want to bother acquiring them - which is disappointing if they are CCs.

I think that making more original/memorable designs would help to increase the popularity of the creature, as well as (perhaps) money for @Ian, if these creatures were CC ones.

Sorry, that was long. Basically, I'm for quality over quantity ^^

@dionaea I agree with everything you've said.

To be honest, I miss the days when I drooled over some of the creature designs, the artwork was that good.

Now, I'm just frustrated - frustrated by how much money you have to spend if you want to get current creatures (especially CC creatures) and also by how similar so many of the creatures are.

There have been only a handful of creatures that have actually caught my attention in the past year, and only a few of those that I've actually wanted to own.

0_0 Okay, that's rather quite shocking... I only really glanced through the archives, but i could only find about eight pets which I really thought were based on dosmetic cats... We may need to compare notes or something, otherwise I'm going to start to think I'm going crazy PP:

@emperor

You know, I utterly agree with you ^^" I think it was better when you could actually remember each pet's name... Which is funny, because I can remember the first 500 pokemon just fine...? XD
And although it's exciting seeing new pets, I miss the charm of the surprise you'd get when you weren't expecting them on the first of the month. A few times I (well, everyone) has noticed that some of the cave pets look hurried and rushed for time... I wish production would just ease up a little bit ^^"
It should be said, however, that the number of CS pets a month has been reduced to two over the former three .c.

@emperor about a year or so ago I used to be able to tell you the name of every creature on egg cave, and then they started introducing repeats, and now I don't know half of all the creatures... yes, I think improving quality would help with that. Less creatures per month might even, too, but I'd rather have the same amount of creatures, just different for once. Don't worry yours isn't long. 😉

@bumblebee13_7 yeah me too 😉

@asi yeah, some of the creatures could be somewhat opinionated, but I literally went through the entire archives and listed what I saw, and I'm not about to do that again... have you seen how many creatures there are? A LOT. -______-"

All the CSP pets now a days look more like really ugly LEs... ☚ī¸

I just want to toss in my two cents - nothing big, just a few comments.

I admit that I have been disappointed a few times when a creature was released and it was too similar to another one that had already been released. The Sey and the Narlock stand out the most to me. The Narlock looks like it could be a redraw of the Sey. Just Seyin'. 😋

The ones I like the least are the creatures that just look exactly like every day animals - like, the colors aren't even different. Some examples: the Foo, Mouflon, Riggert, and Odon. Those ones stand out to me the most. Don't get me wrong - not saying anything about the art at all, but the idea of the creature isn't very creative or outstanding. That said, I still like them enough to have them, especially the Riggert because I love tigers. nn;

One suggestion I would have for the Egg Cave staff would be - stop showing us what the eggs hatch into. I can understand them showing the hatched stages when it's a CC creature, so people can decide if they want to spend money on it or not, but for regular cave releases, limited edition releases, and even Creature Released Week, I would love it if the hatched stages were a mystery at first, so people would have to work to see what they are. I miss those days at Egg Cave.

Anyway, those are some of my opinions. I sure hope I haven't offended anyone, because that was not my intention.

@thursdaus_dove don't worry you haven't offended anyone! 😊 At least not me. 😋

I actually think its cool for egg cave to throw in a few creatures that look like regular animals. It adds into the variety, and its better than just having a bunch of fantasy creatures. You said you like them, so I don't really see why your complaining. 😋

In my opinion, I hate not knowing what creatures will turn into. I guess I like to know what I'm getting. The few that don't show us what they evolve into really annoy me because the eggs don't give us any idea as to what the next stages are of. And if most stages where hidden, than what would the archives be for? Anyway, I suggest making a topic on this because I'm sure you'll get a lot of people who want it this way. Just don't feel bad about the haters (especially the rude ones). 😉 Thanks for sharing with us! 😃
