Creature Mating?

I was just thinking, what if you could somehow breed your creatures to get another egg? It would be a way to keep getting new creatures if the original ones retired. There should be a purpose of the genders, after all.
In order for it to not get out of hand, (after all, there should be some rare creatures), I was thinking you would have to use a special item on each of the creatures you wanted to breed that would cost CaveCash. It would encourage more CaveCash buying.
There should also be a pregnancy time, so you don't get the creature right away, and a creature has to be in it's final stage and immortal to be able to breed.
What do you think of these ideas?

@placevalue I have seen many of these suggestions and they all turn out to not work and have a flaw. :/ Let's say you and I have two VERY RARE creatures and they mate. Their rarity would go higher. The retired creatures are a way of encouraging trading and it's also kinda fun.

Very bad idea. It would mess up rarities completely, cause an outroar, rioting, and plagues onto our houses!

Uhhh, why do genders need to have a purpose?!!? I'm sorry, but that may be the most entertaining thing I've read all day.😋

Anyway, that would be a mess to implement and maintain. Eggcave is an adoptable collection site, not a breeding site. There are specific pet sites for that; EC is not one of them. If you're going to have breeding, I feel you have to set out to do that from the start.

This has been asked before, it just cannot work well in this current set up. If EggCave wanted to do this, it would take a VERY long time to do

I pretty well agree with everyone here. Just wanted to add I am definitely not in support of anything that would "encourage more CaveCash buying". So while that may still help the rarity issue, it would put CaveCash on too high of a pedestal again. The idea does sound really great though. We just have to find some way to put limits on it. :/

@metaphor
Maybe there could be some kind of rule where a creature can only breed for a month or so after evolving into its final stage. Or that if a creature has been retired for too long then it can't be bred.

Now that's an idea. =O

@meta_knight_lover
Each creature should only be able to have one baby in their whole life. And maybe the creatures have to have been raised in some kind of special "daycare" type thing together their whole lives in order to breed.
OOOH what if you could only breed with other people's creatures? To get you to work together and stuff.

Lots of nice ideas. Hopefully Ian will consider it. XP

It would be unfair to breed more because it would be easier to earn money by auctioning them off

I think this idea has been proposed before. The problem with this is that it would greatly decrease creature values. There would be so many more of the super rares and it's also unfair to those who don't have/can't get CC or other rares.

@spiritkoi I think you mean 'unto'. I remembered that guy Tom from SpongeBob. 😸

Tom: "He poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague unto our houses!"

Everyone: "He did?!"

Tom: "NO, but are we just gonna wait around until he does?!"

Mr. Krabs: "I say we tip something over!"

@placevalue
This idea would probably work, but it would take a lot of sitting and thinking to figure it out. Most people don't want to do all that sitting and thinking.

@univea Well, that's what I'm here for. If we come up with a sat out thought out idea and present it to Ian, there's a better chance he'll consider it.

@crunchyoreo25 I agree. The breeding probably shouldn't cost CC, but it should be really hard to do. I came up with a) Creatures need to be raised together from egg stage, b) Creatures can only breed for one month after they reach final stage, c) Breeding could be taken away for super-rare creatures, d) You can only breed with other people's creatures, e) A creature can only breed once.
If you like any of these ideas or have another one, tell me. Also, there could be special creatures meant for breeding instead of introducing breeding onto all of the creatures. And most super-rare creatures have been evolved for more than a month anyway and wouldn't be able to breed.

@placevalue
I honestly have no idea how to make breeding something that doesn't mess with having rare creatures and stuff, so...
If there were a way to keep things stable, it would be cool.

And gender does have a purpose. It tells you what name is gonna seem really silly for your creature. XP
