Slowing Down Restocking at the Travel Shop

I know there was a problem with the Travel Shop not restocking often enough in December, but I think that was better than it is currently.

Travels are being restocked so frequently that previously rare travels are becoming more and more common. It makes it really difficult to sell travels or value them accurately when more travels are being left unsold by the day as travel restockers give up on buying said travels.

Could we please have a happy median between the two travel restocking frequencies? 😊

Maybe. I see your point and I know it is right but I really like getting all these travels. 😋 But you're right, maybe make the time inbetween when the TA gets restocked a little longer...

Sadly, I'm going to go with SpiritKoi on this one. Before December even, I still found it difficult to get the travels I wanted. Even the "rare" travels that had been out for many months.

Travels are introduced to the site on a usual regular basis. I honestly prefer this new restocking because Ive noticed, all the travels it is restocking more have honestly been out for quite awhile.

The "new" travels are still pretty rare / hard to get, with people still hunting the travels page. Ive only seen one of the new valentine travels stocked, and was only able to grab 1 out of the 4 that stocked before they were all snatched up.

So, I prefer the way they have the restocking right now. =P

@spiritkoi

I like it too, but I'm finding it impossible to sell travels as a result.

I've actually resorted to giving out travels like candy, lol

@mychelle

I think price is more a deterrent in that case; I've stopped restocking Park Bench, and I'm considering stopping for Moontop, because it's just not worth spending so much EC to keep buying these travels.

@wolphire

There is that, though, those same costs also are making it where users who do want to spend that EC on that particular travel, don't have to sit there and spend their time hunting for that travel as well. Its kinda nice knowing, even if costly, I can go to the travels and purchase a Park Bench / ect whenever I want to.

@wolphire I agree, I want a median. I used to spend tons hoarding travels & selling them but it just isn't worth it. I also wish they would retire travels, seeing as they keep releasing them. I wish they would retire the old easter ones. But There are just too many travels in the TA it looks cluttered.

I prefer the old restock times.
I was easily able to get travels and sell them after. Now I get stuff like Glowing Mushroom Fields, Central Ski Slopes etc but no one buys them and I end up just donating them.

@wolphire I agree with you. Or, if they don't change the restock rate, at least do something to even out the rarities--e.g. release loads more travels or increase the prices of all the travels. D:

@wolphire Maybe restock every 20 minutes would be better instead of a constant flow of travels every, like, 5 minutes.

I agree! The TA is so full all the time, cause everyone already has those travels and don't want to buy more! ☚ī¸ then with the travel resellers, my travel shop is dead, cause no one's interested! ☚ī¸

@mychelle

Do you mean that it's easier to buy the more expensive travels whenever you want one? I can see how that's useful.

@faybaybay

I agree; it just doesn't look attractive to have a dozen or so travels sitting in the TA...

@poof

Same here. I see them more like candy now, and it is just one more reason why EC is becoming devalued, :\

@karamel and @koispirit

Definitely.

@cookiemonster

I have the same problem.

@wolphire
Even though restocking was time consuming the way it was previously, i do agree that travels are rapidly losing value and this will have or already is having an negative effect on the đŸĒ™ economy.

The people who not only have the skill and patience but also put the time and effort into actively restocking travels should be compensated by AT LEAST being able to resell them for profit to the people who don't.

@wolphire

Yep, that's exactly what I mean.

But overall, I think the only people that are honestly troubled by the recent change is simply for the sake of re-selling travels for EC gain.

I personally, never really liked that. Trading rare creatures and whatnot is one thing, but then you have people purchasing and hunting the rare travels just to make EC, when people can easily make EC by feeding other peoples creatures, which helps both people out. So even the rare travels become pretty expensive in the long run. I personally rather see the travel I want to get in the travel shop highly priced, then having to deal with another person to find a decent price. (Because we got to face it, not everyone out there is going to treat you fairly.)

I see this as different compared to using your adopts for the day, getting a rare creature by chance, and then selling it for EC (or even taking your time out to immortalize it and then selling it). At least with adopts you don't have a group of people snatching up your rare creature once it pops on the screen the mere few seconds it takes your page to load.

If I had it my way, I'd make travels non-tradeable period. >.> heh. Or, have them only "sellable" by auctioning them like we have the creature auctions.

I have to agree with you all, and I have to say there's a good and bad side to this situation. I honestly prefer the old restocking rate, the hassle was quite annoying but it was worth it and sometimes kind of fun. It's just not the same, I'm not as interested in travels as I use to be for some odd reason, the uniqueness of one owning a rare travel is slowly vanishing. I understand we all wanted to obtain rare travels we couldn't seem to get, but now it is just beyond too easy. I wish I had the opportunity to travel this much in real life. 😃

I really like this new rate, because before I could almost never - NEVER - get any new or very rare travels. I hated the old restocking rate. Really.
This is so, so, so much better for people like me that don't have time to stalk the Trade Center all day long or waste EC on trades that are almost always overpriced the way I see it. ☚ī¸

Deleted • 20 February 2014 at 5:54 PM

And honestly, people who say they prefer the new rate ONLY because they werent able to get rare travels with the old one.... Stop complaining, please. Even I was able to, and I dont even stalk the TA, just go there every now and then.

@poof Uhm, getting travels has been hard for me ever since they first appeared as a feature. If you have better luck than I do then fine, good for you, but don't suppose everyone is like you.

Deleted • 20 February 2014 at 6:05 PM

@silverserpent I think its selfish to like something only because the old thing wasnt "good enough" for someone.

@poof I'm not complaining because I didn't get any rare ones, but I never got ANY other than the really old, ugly ones, like Farmlands and Barrenlands and Ark City and Ark Bay. Like, the first travels that Eggcave ever released were the only ones I ever got. And I DID stalk the travel agency.

@mychelle I hated the old restocking rate and I have only one sold a travel. 😃

@karamel I agree. I think rather than going back to the old restocking rate, they should make rare ones rarer and come out with a bunch of new common ones. I honestly wouldn't even mind the old restocking rate if there was more of a variety than the twelve commons that they always had at the old TC.

Deleted • 20 February 2014 at 6:10 PM

@skittlejg I was only talking about the people that complain for the reason I stated though. Not hating or anything but yes, I see it as complaining.

I think the TA is restocking even more often than before, in fact why do you think I made the topic "massive travel giveaway"?
*Because now every user can get rare travels, uncommons, commons, virtually unobtainables, etc.
*So they aren't interested in buying travels anymore.
*So I (and other users) can't sell the travels.
*So... what am I going to do with all these travels? Better give them a use, since I can't sell them, "let's give them away!" I thought.

I think the way the TA is acting now is better because this way all users can get travels, though I agree that the new travels have been hard to get still. I mean, if we want EC, we can feed and put creatures up for auction. It must be frustrating to pay more than what a travel is worth just because you couldn't get it.

@poof I think you are selfish if you see another opinion as some form a complaint rather than an opinion. How long have you been on Egg Cave? I've been here since 2009 and the most liked travels have always been as good as impossible to obtain before.

Snipers used to clear the entire travel agency just to stock up on travels and then, when trading arrived, sell them for outrageous prices.
That is just one reason why I happen to like that travels are easier to get a hold of now. It is my personal opinion and I think I have the right to "complain" as much as I want because of past experiences.

@poof

I find it hard to have people of my similar opinion be spoken of as "Complaining".

Honestly, we could say the same about you. Why don't you quit complaining about the new release rate? Some of us like it!

I mean really, dear lord if some people have a different opinion that disagrees with your own. Sheesh.

@poof Well, even if I am whining, I don't care. I was so tired (and still am) of the old travels. Because when purple night sky, brown stone mountains, and underwater coral reefs are the only travels you ever get, you loose interest in travels. Personally, I'm more interested in travels now than I have ever been.

Deleted • 20 February 2014 at 6:23 PM

@silverserpent

You have your solution already. You say "used to", and I havent seen it happen since I joined. They are easy to get a hold of in the first place, I think there was no need for a new rate.

Unlike some others, Ian and the rest of Team EggCave actually listens to what users want. I know that. But should it really mean everything a select group of users doesnt like should be changed?

And really, for the two pings I missed while typing this: I can have an opinion as well. Im not going to keep quiet just because there are different opinions here. Thats what an opinion is for.

@skittlejg

I completely agree. I gave up on getting the travels I really liked for the longest time. Now I have just what I want and need to last me for awhile and Im insanely happy about that.

Deleted • 20 February 2014 at 6:25 PM

In fact, if you guys want travels, you might want to go to the Donations Center. Ever since the rate changed demand for travels has gone down. I cant sell them anyway.

@poof

There is nearly the same amount of users on both sides that both dislike and like the new changes. Not a very good support for your argument.

@mychelle While my english isnt perfect, I think it was pretty clear I said "select group" for just that reason.
