I gasped as Bonepaw and Splatch fought. I was so shocked that I could not do anything. I ran after Splatch and Cloudy to the medicine den. I sat there, wating for Splatch to wake up. When he did, he asked where he was. "You're in the medicine den. I'm so sorry Splatch. Bonepaw can be a bit…." I searched for the right word. "Temperamental." I finished.

{Iceheart}
I watched as Cloudy went out to hunt. 'Not a bad idea.' I thought. I leaft camp to hunt too. My strong hunting spot was, oddly, in the trees. I scrambled up a good tree and hunted from its branches.

I rolled my eyes. "No, he`s a jerk. I should think he would have a better attitude, when he has a whole Clan who cares about him."

{Cloudy}
"Oh, I`m Cloudy," I answered, looking her right in the eye. "I actually just joined the Clan today....."

{Badgerspirit}
"Who is this?" I asked, walking into the medicine den. "Did Blazestar invite ANOTHER rouge into the Clan?"

{Pumpkinseed}
I smiled and said, "Welcome to the Clan, my name`s Pumpkinseed!"

"Bonepaw lost his family, just like you. He's never really recovered from it. He doesn't seem to know people care about him" I said. I looked at the little kit. "Oh hello little one. What's your name?" I asked sweetly. I glared at Badgerspirit. "Any cat is a good cat. We need more clan members!" I said angrily.

I ran around the forest trees, hunting. Eventually I brought my prey back to cmap and put it in the fresh-kill pile.

"Robinwing, Badgerspirit I need both of you out of the den." I hissed, as the den suddenly seemed to contain a heavy air with all the cats in it.
I turned to Tallcavern and Splatch, "You should be fine by tomorrow-both of you but take these herbs first and get plenty of rest. There's poppy seeds mixed in already so it should be very easy to get some sleep." I added as I pushed two oak leaves piled with small mounds of herbs before the two cast.

I was jolted out of my dream and turned to Waspclaw. "Did you get the same message I did?"

"Oh yes, of course Ravenpaw." I said, backing out of the den. I decided to go talk to Iceheart. I found him sitting by the fresh-kill pile. "Hi." I said, sitting down next to him. "Splatch and Bonepaw got into a huge fight. Splatch is in the medicine den right now." I said.

I turned to my sister as she sat next to me. "Hi." I said back. I listened to her story about Bonepaw and Splatch. I shook my head. "I feel sorry for him and mad at him at the same time. I mean, I know he lost his family and all, and I'm sorry for him, because he doesn't seem to recognize that we all care about him. But that doesn't mean he should be so temperamental." I said.

"I totally agree with you." Robinwing replied.

Surprised by her politeness, I said, "Thanks! I don`t really know how Clan life works.... Could you tell me?"

{Splatch}
I obediently ate the herbs, exclaiming, "Ugh! These herbs are yucky!" I wiped my tongue around my jaws, trying to get rid of the taste. "So... should I sleep here or in the apprentice`s den?"

{Bagderspirit}
/I wonder if that pipsqueak is even loyal!/ I thought angrily, as I padded out of the medicine den.

I chose a squirrel from the fresh-kill pile, and quietly nibbled on it.

{Pumpkinseed}
"Where do I begin......" I wondered aloud. There was nothing I liked more than teaching cats things!

"Okay," I started, getting comfortable in my nest. "The Clan consists of elders, kits, queens, warriors, medicine cats, the deputy, and our leader. Kits become apprentices and then warriors. After the leader dies or resigns, the deputy takes over leadership. He or she does this by going to The Star Aspen, where they get their nine lives and leader name. The leader gives kits their apprentice names and warrior names, decides what battle strategy we take- Pumpkinseed sighed as if she didn`t really want to mention that- how we treat the other Clans, who gets to join our Clan and so on.

We have a set of rules called The Warrior Code. All the Clan cats follow The Warrior Code so that the Clans can be just and right. There`s a rule that says that medicine cats can`t have a mate or kits-"

"WHAT?!?" Cloudy interrupted, shocked.

I threw my head up and glared at the two she-cats who were now talking in the back of the den. "Can you two keep it quiet?" I grumbled shaking my brown pelt.
"Cloudy, a medicine cat can't take a mate or have kits because their duty is to their Clan above all else. If they took a mate they wouldn't be able to help other cats for fear of their kits and the well-being of their mate.
"They live a very lonely life, but they have friends. Waspclaw thought, he's an exception. He was a warrior before, and when our medicine cat died there was no cat more skilled with herbs. Sure we could have borrowed one from a different Clan but where's the honor in that?
"Instead our old leader got a message from StarClan about Waspclaw being able to help the Clan. He only agreed on the fact that once he trained an apprentice to full skill he could go back to becoming a warrior." I meowed.

{Viperfang}
It was nearly moon high as I glanced up at the crack in our camps roof. I looked to see Robinwing and Iceheart talking, Badgerspirit was glumly eating a squirrel.
I resumed my spot by camp entrance and stared out at the jagged rocks that lined out way to home. Waspclaw and Blazestar would still be at the Star Aspen until morning, I thought my head drooping.

{Ravenpaw}
"You'll stay here tonight." I meowed before grabbing the kit and placing him in a small nest between mine and Tallcavern's. "Stay safe little one," I mewed licking the top of his head. "You have suffered a lot for a cat so young." I said as I went to my own nest and curled up to sleep.

I finished off the squirrel, and walked to the warrior`s den. I ignored the other cats and lay down, my paw over my nose.

/I wonder when Blazestar will be back..../ I thought as I drifted off to sleep.

"Not normally...." I answered, thinking. "Only a few cats break the rule, and they get punished enough by all the pain they cause."

I nodded my head at Blazestar, "Yes, I was there with you, behind you." I meowed. "Blazestar, whatever it means, good and bad well come from it. I think it means.. that some cat well die."

{Bonepaw}
Yawning, I layed in my nest. Once I fell asleep, I was in the forest. I had this dream many times. A little way from me, I saw myself, a smaller myself. When I was nine moons old. I watched as I caught a huge squirrel, puffing out my chest. Then I turned my head to were my father was hunting, with sad eyes. I stayed and watched my young self from the bushes

{Dream Bonepaw}
/Maybe, father well say something about the squirrel?/ I thought. /No! You've tried it all, he does not care!/ I voice in my head growled, in anger, I tore out the squirrels neck. Once I calmed, I decided to try to talk to my father anyway, and grabbing the squirrel, I headed over to the clearing were he was hunting. Once he saw me, he turned his cold gaze to me, not saying a thing about the squirrel. "Hi, dad." I meowed, trying to sound happy, "Look at this huge squirrel! I bet it-" But Darkclaw- my father, cut me off in a flash of anger, "Shut your stupid mouth you filth! I don't care how hard you try, you'll never replace the life you toke from your mother!" I backed away, hanging my head, but something kicked inside me, and I felt a growl rise, "Its not my fault she died, you fox-dung, so stop blaming me! If you cant help being this horrid... go eat death-berries!" I yowled. Darkclaws amber eyes flared with anger, and with his paw he flung me away. But I got back up and growled, a laugh bubbling in me. "Time to see mother!" I snarled, charging at him, hitting his head hard with an unsheathed paw. This made Darkclaw yowl in pain and fall, and before he could get up, I pounced, ripping out his neck. I enjoyed hearing his scream, and the music to my ears was his crys for mercy. Then, I tossed him into the near-by lake were he sank, and I wash my paws off. I walked back into the woods were the patrol was to meet once done hunting, everyone was already there, I turned to look at them, then meowed, "Hey, has anyone seen Darkclaw?"

"Yes, I do think so. Or perhaps someone is already dead?" I asked, letting the unspoken though linger. /Perhaps it's something about Darkclaw?\ I thought musingly.

"They can also be punished by more extreme Clans, or by StarClan themselves. I remember a nursery tale about a medicine cat who had kits, all but one died. The remaining kit turned into a bitter and brutal murder taking everything we held as the warrior code and smashing it into dust.
"It was believed to have been StarClan's work with the cats at that time. But most of the time the medicine cat must either pick their kits or their position. It's a hard decision, but they always choose their kits."

"Interesting...." she mewed softly. /I`m glad I`m not a medicine cat!/ "Well, it`s time we all got some shut-eye. Good night!"

She closed her eyes, and instantly went to sleep.

{Badgerstripe}
I heard terrified screams of cats in the distance, and however hard I ran I could never help them. He saw cats in the distance, and went closer to see who it was.

I gasped, it was my..... parents. "Mom! Dad!" I yowled running up to them. "How-why are you here?"

Badgerstripe noticed that they didn`t look very happy. /How odd... aren`t they in StarClan?/ "A great test is coming," Silverwhisker -his father- meowed solemnly. "Some of the cats that you know and trust hide powerful secrets from you. Be on your guard."

Before he could get a word in, his mother -Brackenflower- spoke: "Do not forget The Warrior Code in your worrying. Open your eyes to see what could be."

"I don`t understand! What do you mean?" Badgerstripe pleaded, confused.

"Good-bye, son," his parents said in unison. All of a sudden, a badger charged up and knocked both of them off a cliff.....

"NOOO!!!" He woke up, panting. /What had his parents been talking about? What was going to happen?/

Badgerstripe got out of his nest, and walked briskly out of the den to think.

I saw Badgerstripe leave, and I got up to follow him. /I wonder if he was dreaming about our parents...../

Badgerspirit and Pumpkinseed both left the camp, I watched them leave but didn't move to follow-they were within their rights to leave camp they were warriors they didn't need me watching them.

Once Cloudy fell asleep I sighed relieved to have the den quiet again. But as I started to drift back to sleep Viperfang was nudging me awake.
"Time for your guard duty. It's well past moonhigh-almost dawn now." She hissed.

{Viperfang}
I woke Stagheart from his doze and moved back to the end of the den to my nest. The only one not surrounded by others-but found it already occupied. I sighed and took the only other nest next to it-Waspclaw's when he had been a warrior. The only cat who liked being near me, and drifted into a dreamless sleep.

"already dead?" I thought outboard, then panik toke me, what is a cat at camp had died, what if it was Viperfang, or Rednight. I felt a tug of guilt when I realized I would care more if Viperfang died. I shook it off, there was no time for that, "we must get back to camp at once!" I meowed, then speed off to camp.

I stirred in my nest as cats moved around me. I tucked my nose under my paw and tried to drift back to sleep.....

"Badgerstripe!" I hissed, bounding up beside him. "What`s wrong? Did you have another dream about our parents?"

Badgerstripe stopped trying to run from his sister, and sat down. "Yes," he murmured. "They were saying-"

"That it wasn`t your fault that they died?" Pumpkinseed interrupted. /He needs to get over this!/

"No," he growled."It was my fault.....They said to be on my guard and a bunch of other stuff I can`t comprehend."

"That`s your problem," Pumpkinseed mewed softly, putting her tail tip on her brother`s shoulder. "You think it was your fault that our parents died, but really it was just fate. All of us put together couldn`t defeat that badger."

{Badgerstripe}
I jerked away, snarling,"You know if I`d been there Silverwhisker and Brackenflower would still be alive! I hate badgers more then anything and yet I`m named after them!"

Pumpkinseed arched her back hissing, "So know you`re saying that I couldn`t handle the badgers! I got all of these scratches because I was fighting the best I could! I tried, I tried, I tried, but I could not keep them alive!"

Badgerstripe curled his lip. /She knew she could`ve saved our parents if she`d tried hard enough!/ "I`m tired of you and your petty excuses!" he spat. "I hate you!"

Pumpkinseed flinched back, hurt. She stared at the ground, and then looked up at him, "GO EAT DEATHBERRIES!" she yowled.

Badgerstripe watched Pumpkinseed as she sprinted off into the darkness. /What have I done?/ he thought, ruefully.

I stayed outside for awhile. I watched as Pumpkinseed and Badgerstripe got into a fight. I walked over to Pumpkinseed. "Is everything ok?" I asked her.

Cloudy pricked her ears as she heard yowling in the forest. /What is that?/ I yawned, stretched, and then climbed out of my nest and out the den.

My pelt heated up as I saw Iceheart. "Hi, er......" I mumbled as I tried to start a conversation.

{Pumpkinseed}
I ran through the forest, my heart feeling like a broken twig. Why had she said those horrible things? Why had BADGERSTRIPE said those horrible things? Why couldn`t their parents still be alive?

She screeched to a halt right before she fell right into a deep pit. Pumpkinseed crouched down gasping. She glanced at her left paw and saw that there was a giant thorn in it.

Instead of heading back to camp like she should have done, Pumpkinseed lay down and closed her eyes. /What does it matter?/ she thought wincing as pain shot through it. /My brother hates me, my parents are dead, what does it matter?/

She fell into a fevered sleep, shivering and writhing on the ground.

{Badgerstripe}
I stalked back to camp, my eyes blazing and filled with pain. I never should have said I hated her, never should have said anything at all.

He roughly pushed by Cloudy, and entered the warrior`s den.

{Time skip to next day. Shortly after dawn, dawn patrol consisted of Badgerstripe, Splitwater, Rednight and Bonepaw and all are out on patrol.}

I stood up and stretched before leaving Waspclaw's old nest and entering the camp. I breathed in the cool air and looked up at the light falling into the cave.
The fresh-kill pile was low but before I could leave camp Blazeheart-or I guess he'd be Blazestar now-called a Clan meeting.
"Let all cat's old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Rock Ledge for a Clan meeting."

As soon as I heard Blazestar's call, I can out of the medicine den. When I had gotten to camp the other night, I had peeked into the warriors den and saw that everyone was safe, and I double checked that Viperfang was ok. I was surprised when I heard about what happened with Bonepaw and the kit, and even more shocked when I heard Tallcavern's eyes had changed. When I got out by the rock ledge I sat down by Viperfang, "I wonder who's he's going to pick for deputy?" I meowed to her, even though I already had a pretty good idea. In my mind, the best cats for the job wear Iceheart, Viperfang, and Rednight. Rednight had been sent on patrol and would not be here to see her named deputy, so it could not be her. And Iceheart was a bit young to be deputy, and that left only one cat, Viperfang, to be deputy.

Bonepaw
I growled as I patrolled. I had wanted to see would become deputy, but I had to be on this patrol. I could tell Rednight felt almost the same, I could tell by how her tail lashed back and forth, even though she was being so positive, I could tell that inside she was a bit mad.

I found a spot near the ledge, but stayed a distance away from the other cats, not sure where I should sit. She licked a paw, and drew it over her head and whiskers. I looked around: where was Pumpkinseed?

{Badgerstripe}
"We should probably go find, Pumpkinseed. I haven`t seen her since I went to sleep." I lied. /It`s better they don`t know that I fought with my sister!/ he thought.

{Pumpkinseed}
Pain seared through me like a badger`s claw as I opened my eyes. I picked up my pad, and saw I had infected it: it had a green-purplish pus around it and it was dripping blood. /I knew I should have gone to the medicine den!/ I thought, gasping.

I tried to put it down and walk, and yowled in pain. Pumpkinseed collapsed on the ground and called out feebly, "Help....help...."

{Splatch}
I woke up and stretched, yawning. He padded out of the medicine den, satisfied that his wounds had healed.

Splatch looked around for Bonepaw, his claws itching. /I can`t wait to get my claws on that fleabag!/

He saw Cloudy grooming, and playfully pounced on her twitching tail.

"she's a warrior, she can take care of her-self just fine, don't worry Badgerstripe. Just because she spends the night out of camp does not mean she's lost." I said kindly. But then I froze as I heard a load yowl of pain, it was Pumpkinseed.

I froze as I heard my clan-mates cry, and before anyone could say anything, I was rushing to where I heard the yowl. There I found Pumpkinseed fallen, with a huge thorn in her paw, quickly I tore it out, then started to nudge her to her paws, "can you stand?" I meowed worried.

"I'm not sure, Blazestar has his reasons though." I meowed. "Do you think it could be Coldfang?" I asked looking for the tom.

I was allowed to leave the medicine den today and I sat outside and watched as Blazestar called a meeting. He stood on the rock and observed the Clan with glowing eyes.
His gaze shifted to Splatch as the kit played on Cloudy's tail then moved to me.

"I have gathered you here to day with news. I received my nine lives last night from StarClan but this is not the only thing, yesterday we found two rogues and accepted them into the Clan. One of those is Cloudy who chooses to keep her rogue name.
"The second is Splatch, the kit will receive a Clan name. But we have more pressing matters. I am needed to name a deputy." I called out scanning the crowd for the proper cat.

"Maybe." I meowed, "but like Iceheart, he's young. But I agree, he would make a good deputy. But.. I think the cat I'm talking to would be better for the job."

I sat tall, wondering who would be chosen. I tried to keep hope that it was me, but I knew I was young, and most likely would not be chosen out of all the cats fit for the role of deputy.

I'd be violating my own rule if I made it Viperfang and it can't be Waspclaw now can it, unless Coldfang/Rednight become temporary deputy while Waspclaw finishes training Ravenpaw? We're bringing the darn patrol back right now anyways @leafdapple769 @dramatic @dreamscancometrue

I shook my head. "With my attitude?" I asked nudging Waspclaw. "I'd be surprised if Blazestar's second order isn't to send me out into Fireclan's territory." I purred.

{Splitwater}
I followed Bonepaw and stopped as we found Pumpkinseed curled up on the ground. I placed a paw on her side to stop her writhing and saw she had a thorn in her paw.
I sighed inwardly before I grasped her scruff. /What is wrong with cats? She's got infection because she's refused to go back to camp because of her brother.\
I drug the she-cat back to camp to find it in the middle of a meeting.

I felt myself smile as Cloudy said hi to me. "Hi." I said back. "So, how do you like camp life so far?" I listened as Blazestar called for a meeting. I ran over to listen. He was choosing a deputy! I wondered who it was going to be. Probably not me, maybe Robinwing, not likely though.

I ran over and sat down by Iceheart just as Blazestar announced he was going to choose a deputy. It probably wouldn't be me or Iceheart, but then again, I can't predict the future. I wondered who it was going to be.

The dawn patrol had returned but Splitwater did not stop in camp. She was carrying Pumpkinseed though the camp and into the medicine cat's den and both vanished.
I looked back at the clan gathered around me. "I say these words under StarClan so that they may hear and approve my choice. I name Rednight as the next deputy of FlareClan."

"It`s okay," I purred in answer to Iceheart`s question. Cloudy moved her tail before Splatch get pounce on it again, and my eyes searched the crowd, wondering who was Rednight.

She gasped as she saw Pumpkinseed enter the warrior`s den. /What happened to her?/ With one last glance at Iceheart, I padded over to the medicine den.

{Splatch}
I glared back at Bonepaw, lashing my tail. /If only I could get him alone and rip his pelt off!/ I thought angrily.

Splatch turned his back on Bonepaw, forcing his pelt to lay flat.

{Badgerstripe}
/What have I done?/ he thought as he hurried into the medicine den to check on his sister. Badgerstripe noticed Cloudy, and hissed, "Why are you ALWAYS hanging around here? Don`t you have warrior code rules to break?"

Cloudy flinched back as if I had bit her.

{Pumpkinseed}
Pain seemed to throb in my paw, head, and everything else. I heard voices but none of them seemed to be familiar. Some cat grabbed my scruff, and led me to a comfy nest. Pumpkinseed forced her eyes open and saw Badgerstripe hissing at Cloudy. "Leave her alone!" I snapped. "YOU are the one who doesn`t have the right to be here!"

"But-" Badgerstripe started to say.
