@cubetraYep. Some of the eggs you can "buy" from the Thief Shop are actually fake eggs. They cost EC, and it can be a lot, but just keep trying and sooner or later you just might find a real creature.

@wyvern2222 I got a Cachnid for 22k once and I think I remember seeing one even lower than that.@magicaltomato3 one part patience, one part luck and lots of EC. The restocks are really random.
