{Ted}
Ted saw as the last of the people piled in. He anticipated the horror on his parent's faces when he would pick Amity.

The first few names were called.

Ted's palms were all sweaty.

@motivecat @jazzyleia @jupiter_hollow @appleblizzard @cutebirdy79 we can now start the choosing ceremony! I have the list of names in order in an earlier post so look there to see when your characters go.

{Jubilee}

I took a deep breath as the first name was called. I was wondering what my brother was going to choose. It was nerve wracking. I just kept thinking that today I'd by happy in dauntless. Dauntless..... My lifelong dream. Today, it would all start.

"Alyx Haden" the announcer called out.

Once Alyx heard her name, she wanted to just run up to the stage and rub it in her parents face; that she wasn't staying with them but she regained her composure and slowly walked to the stage. Once at the stage she accepted the dagger and cut open her palm, she stared over the bowls in front of her and dropped in blood into the bowl she wanted. Amity, the bowl with earth inside. Alyx smirked as she heard her mother's horrified scream and as she walked over to the Amity section, she could fill her Father's glare following her to her new seat. Soon her smirk vanished as she realized she was leaving her cat with her parents. "He'll be okay" Alyx reassured herself as she pictured the sweet cat's face in her mind.

Dillon watched as the first few people went but she wasn't really paying attention but when she saw a girl dressed in black and white, Dillon couldn't help but stare. 'She'll probably stay in her faction' Dillon thought but she gasped when the girl's blood dripped into the Amity bowl. As Dillon watched the girl walk over to the Amity section, she heard a commotion in the Candor section and turned her head to see two parents watching the girl with glares. 'No wonder she left' Dillon thought as she looked one more time at the girl before watching the other teenagers choose their factions.

I watched as Alyx chose Amity. I wasn't all that surprised, I knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't stay.

"Jubilee Lerotto." The announcer called. I walked calmly up to the stage, and cut open my palm. I dropped my blood onto the burning coals and listened to the satisfying sizzle. I held my head high, my face expressionless, as I walked over to sit with the other Dauntless transfers.

{Ted}

I felt my heart beat harder and faster with every name that was closer to mine. Finally, I heard I name called. I took one last hopeful glance to my parents, whose faces where filled with pride.

I wiped my sweaty hands on my jeans. I held on to my belt and took deep breaths. I walked up to the stage and slit my palm slightly and let the blood dribble into the Amity bowl. It sizzled inside. Amity erupted into cheers. I smiled nervously, then looked at my parents. The pride had dissapeared from their faces. I painfully looked down at the floor and took a seat next to all of the other transfers. I glanced at Corrine who sat all the way at Dauntless. She had a thumbs up.

I solemnly glanced around at the other transfers. He saw a solemn Candor girl. He remembered her name was Alyx. "Hello, I'm Ted." he said.

Jasmine sat quietly, listening and watching as people were called before her. Finally she heard her own name called and walked up calmly with a small smirk on her face. Slitting her hand without a flinch, Jasmine squeezed her hand and let the drops of blood fall into the Dauntless bowl. It was a satisfying feeling as her faction exploded into cheers and she took a seat with other Dauntless born, smiling and laughing while jostling each other around.

@motivecat @jazzyleia @dramatic @cutebirdy79 @appleblizzard Where would Viper join in on the Choosing?

Allison sat and watched the people transferred out of Dauntless, into Dauntless, into Amity, out of Amity, but so far none to Erudite.
She'd feel bad when she left her faction. Especially for Erudite, but the tests don't lie.

((Do we have a ping list somewhere? XD Late night brain potentially made erroneous errors in this post. Sorry in advance.))

What people didn't often know about Jackson Quick was that he always aced his tests. He had a fantastic mind for being an Erudite. But that same mind was telling him it would be a mistake to stay.

After what felt like a lot longer than it probably was, considering Jackson's lack of attention the whole time, the young boy snapped back into the present at the sound of his name. He needed to be ready to make his choice, and he needed to be ready now.

Jackson put on his best brave face as he stood and approached the knife and bowls where he would choose his faction. After a deep breath, he punctured his skin to draw a drop of blood. Without hesitation, he let it fall and sizzle in the bowl for Dauntless.

His teachers would probably never stop being disappointed in his wasted potential now.

I heard someone call another name. Yet another Eritude had gone to a different faction. I wasn't really paying attention untill my name was called.

I stood up and walked slowly towards the table. Looking at the Eritude faction, many parents were either crying or seething. Turning back to the bowl I remembered my life in Eritude. Rules. Work. Bullying and no one there for me.

I slit open my hand and looked at all the bowls. The tension in the room surrounded me. Withought hesitating any more, I let my blood drop into the Dauntless Bowl. My new faction erupted with applause as I sat down next to someone from Eritude I knew only by the fact that I had a crush on him.

His name was Jackson but everyone had called him Quick. Bruce never toubled HIM for some reason. For the first time though, I was actually sitting next to him.

Turning my attention back to the ceremony, I saw Bruce walking up to the bowls. I froze. Please not Dauntless. Please not Dauntless. Letting go of my breath, I sighed in realeaf and confusion as he chose Amity. What???

Hey who cares about where that bully goes or why he goes there? I was finally going to live my own life!

Alyx had been staring off into the distance thinking about her cat, when she heard a voice and jumped. She looked over at the boy beside her and gave him a smile. "Hi, I'm Alyx" Alyx exclaimed in her most friendly voice to try and cover up her sadness over Kunz. 'Surely, they'll bring him by on Visiting Day....but are we allowed pets at Amity? I sure hope so' Alyx thought as she twiddled her thumbs in her lap.

Dillon heard her name and she hugged her brother before standing and walking up to the stage. She picked up the knife, sliced her palm and dropped her blood in the Dauntless bowl without flinching. She glanced back at her brother and she felt happy of her choice when she saw her brother smiling. 'Glad he excepts my choice' Dillon thought as she walked over to the Dauntless section and was greeted with cheers. "let's just see if I can get past Initiation" Dillon muttered as she took a seat in her new section.

Alyx looked up at the boy with wide eyes. Usually no one asked what was wrong with her but sometimes that was because some never noticed. She glanced away from Ted and looked down at her lap. "I'm worried about my cat. I don't know if we're allowed to have pets in Amity and if my parents will take care of him. I just don't want them to hurt him because I left them and....I'm sorry. I'm rambling" Alyx explained as she began to twiddle her thumbs again.

((How many people do we have left to pick factions before we move on?))

A girl he'd seen before sat down next to him. Jackson couldn't recall if they'd talked before. Probably. He was pretty social. The teachers hated that, too.

"Hey, so, Dauntless will be quite something, huh?" Jackson grinned amiably at the girl.

At the back of the room, Jules stood, watching the kids move factions. This room must always see a lot of mixed emotions. More transfers to Amity than he expected. He hoped no one wanted him to teach music. Jules loved music and played a few instruments very well, but he didn't love social interaction quite as much.

Once Alyx heard that she could bring pets, she instantly went from sad to happy. "Really? That's fantastic" Alyx exclaimed with a big smile as she looked over at Ted. "You know, Ted. You're the first person I think I've actually talked to in years and I thank you for that" Alyx stated in a low voice as she looked down at her lap with a shy smile on her face.

@poe @appleblizzard @motivecat @lazzyleia @cutebirdy79 @jupiter_hollow @featherstar_stormclan We are done! Everyone can now head home to their factions. Dauntless transfers will have to jump onto a moving train, then jump off that train onto a roof, then fall through a hole onto a net from like, twenty feet above.

{Jubilee}

The dauntless leaders announced that it was time to go, and everyone stood up. We all started running.

I jogged down stairs in a sea of black and red, feeling better than I had in a long time. We came to these posts that lead to the railway. People started climbing up them! I shook my head and climbed up after them.

"I wanted to leave, to be honest. I wasn't much a fan of Erudite. Sure, I did do great on the tests and things, but it didn't appeal to me much." The green-eyed boy shrugged nonchalantly, before watching as the large group got up. "Looks like we're headed out."

Jackson Quick followed the Dauntless excitedly to the train, glancing back to see that the girl he was talking to was keeping up.

Jules scanned the crowd of Dauntless with his amber eyes, looking for familiar faces. He did miss old friends, but it was his own fault for not visiting more often. Maybe it was time he started. The young man pushed off the wall, noting that it was time to leave. He'd walk back part of the way with his faction, but was planning to stop in the city to visit the factionless. Jules had some food in his bag and a banjo across his back. He brought a banjo today for the benefit of the Dauntless - who joked about Amity being full of "banjo strummin' softies".

@motivecat @jazzyleia @poe @cutebirdy79 @appleblizzard @featherstar_stormclan @jupiter_hollow for those of you who are in dauntless now, we have to wait until everyone's on the platform to jump onto the train.

{Jubilee}

I stood excitedly on the platform, practically bouncing up and down. We could slowly start to hear the train rumbling in the distance. People were reaching down to help people up so they wouldn't miss the train. I decided to reach down my hand and see if somebody grabbed it so I could help them up.

I braced myself and blindly reached down. I helped a couple of people up, but there were still more coming.

They all ran over through the door, pushing and shoving each other, until they made it over to the platform. It was a long ways up, but Jasmine wasn't scared of the train or climbing to get to it. It took her a few minutes with the mass of people, but she was finally waiting patiently again for the train.

--Tomas
He sat timidly, huddled at the very back of the rows of seats with the presumption of remaining inconspicuous. He watched as many transferred in and out of the faction, the former being a minority. Perhaps with reason. Nobody wanted to be subservient to other factions, nor forgetful of themselves, nor feeding off of the happiness of others. Individuality, personality, /vibrancy/ was something Abnegation lacked and very few wanted to part with their right to those aspects of life.
A bright example was a girl in grey who he had seen join the Dauntless in their seating section. He hadn't caught her name and felt bad for not knowing it beforehand, but he did recognize her for her boldness even prior to the choosing ceremony. As the factions made their leave, Dauntless running out first and Abnegation - last, he pondered long and deep on every sixteen year old who had left the sea of grey as he saw them exit with their new respective factions and found himself becoming progressively more sad. They would all find their individuality elsewhere. He, on the other hand, would remain.
-
~Dima
The warm water had soothed the painful coils in his limbs and back, washing away the ache along with grime and soot, so by the time he'd exited the showers, he didn't feel as wound up. He felt primarily content, if a little surprised, to not encounter anybody as he went to dress. There weren't many members out in the compound either, judging by the lack of noise - any such would echo right off the stone or metal walls of the rooms.
He found he cared very little.
His pick of clothing was a pair of dark cargo pants, the casualness of which excused the skin tight black wife beater tank top. There wasn't much modesty to be had in Dauntless, which fuelled the vanity of its members. As followed, there was always a lot on display- muscles, in Dima's case. He was an ostentatious dresser, out to either impress or intimidate, and was currently anticipating meeting the new additions to the faction and leaving a lasting impression, positive or negative regardless.

Deleted • 24 December 2014 at 6:07 PM

I stood up and dusted off my hands on my pants. I went back to bouncing on the balls of my feet as I listened to the rattle of the train tracks as the train approached. I glanced at an erudite girl standing beside me. "What made you leave?" I asked her curiously. Usually Erudite stayed in Erudite or transferred somewhere other than Dauntless.

((I was rather unaware we had to wait for Jackson to actually climb up. Lol Sorry guys. I'm a mess over holidays.))

Jackson had climbed up to the train tracks easily with his long limbs. He was full of anticipation. It was exciting going new places, seeing new faces. He ended up helping a somewhat less lanky guy up onto the tracks, who also seemed to be a transfer. After that, he simply watched the others mill about, observing their behavior, trying to judge what kind of people they were. He'd lost track of Scilent.

Other factions could be seen from here, heading off in the various directions. Amongst the dominantly red and yellow of Amity, Jules was also observing the newcomers. They were getting close to where Jules would leave them for the afternoon. He increased his strides when he recognized a young woman not far ahead of him near the edge of the group. Jules pulled her into a twirl as they walked, leaving a brief greeting with his friend before departing deeper into the city. It wouldn't take long to get to where he knew a lot of the Factionless spent their time.

Phone post, too lazy to get on a laptop.
{Marcel}

He considered himself the proverbial king, perhaps a little vainly, but with a reasonable pretext - he was the most intelligent of the healthy. There was a majority of people who may have suprassed him academically, but they were roaming the epidemic-zones like lambs, waiting for instructions from his persona. He was all too happy to oblige, if a little tersely. As the only remaining uninfected of the leaders, he had taken on the role of the chief. There was a thankfully none too small group of medically-educated that answered to his beck and call and many healthy Dauntless write-offs, who seemed to be measuring back up to their faction standards and fearlessly aiding the sick. He hadn't mobilized everybody due to the rising number of infected amongst the volunteers, but a good half of the Factionless population was waiting in reserve, ready to offer their help. A little stupidly, perhaps, as none were aware of what the medics were dealing with. He himself knew very little about the whys and wherefores of the situation, but his helpers were falling ill at an alarming rate under the influence of what seemed to be a violent virus and he was becoming more unnerved by the increasing severity of their predicament. The other Factionless were at least safely situated in the less rural parts of the region, crammed in the ruins near the faction metropolis. The isolated buildings were closer to the wall. And they were many.

He frequented each floor in equal intervals, distributing orders and help. His attention was mainly needed in the organization department as the building was already well-equipped with volunteers. There was a set number of operating 'staff' on the different levels of the building, which were sectioned off diligently. The virus worked its way up, with the lower floors containing the minor and mild cases of the disease - either recovering or recently infected patients. The top levels were fully quarantined off. Those were the patients with longer lasting symptoms and worsening conditions and even few of the Dauntless born dared go there. The ground floor, on the other hand, was an isolated safe haven where the staff rested for the night and gathered for daily reports of the progressions. They had worked out a 'buddy system' of one ex-professional medic per ten patients with a maximum of 7-10 assistants aiding them in the task of nursing their designated back to health. There wasn't much coordination to be had other than that, but this was as much organization that could be applied to an abandoned apartment complex.
The other buildings were in a similar state of semi-disarray, only they lacked an organizator such as Marcel. He had taken on the liberty of being in charge of the building that housed the worst cases and was responsible for the transportation of patients and the medical supply. Some patients he tended to himself if there was a momentary shortage of available people, but mostly, he eased the emotional strain on the medics by prioritizing the lives they were out to save and ordering them which to tend to first. He preferred to have those which they have lost weigh on his shoulders. He was hard-hearted enough.

He mused as much while making his way outside for a gulp of fresh air, feeling bitter as ever. They were still waiting for professional medical help but none had arrived and the few supplies of medicine they'd gotten had been used up in a minimal amount of time. The situation kept going out of control and then returning to the border of bearable.

Still, he was far from giving up.

I watched as the train came into view. It came roaring past. I started running with everyone else. When I got close enough, I grabbed onto the handle, and jumped.

For a moment I was just hanging in the air. My foot then found the ledge and I swung myself into the car. I slumped down against the wall, alone. I was happy to be alone at last. Or at least no one was talking to me.

I listened to the chatter around me. There was still quite a while before the train reached the end of the platform, so people were still getting on. I noticed that I was the only person in the train as far I could see, who was Candor. 'Was.' I reminded myself. 'You're Dauntless now.'

((We need to work on character interaction. There isn't a whole lot and now I'm making stuff up))

Jackson didn't struggle to run fast enough to keep up with the train as it made it's way down the platform. He strained to reach the door as he raced the train. His fingers barely brushed the edge of the doorway. He missed his first attempt at pulling himself up. /Dang it/, he thought. The teen grimaced and pushed himself to run a little faster and this time, he managed to grab the edge of the door and heave himself up into the train car.

A girl sat slumped against the opposite wall of the train, and Jackson watched others pull themselves into the car as he had moments ago. He looked at the Dauntless born kids around him. They had done this many times before. His gaze briefly paused on a tall blonde that he'd noticed climbing into the car not long before him. Jackson casually continued his survey of the Dauntless.

In a somewhat suspect part of Chicago, Jules walked as though he had no where to be. It was quiet here, with very few Factionless near the abandoned building here. To Jules, it seemed as though there were fewer and fewer milling about where they usually were. He wondered what was going on. Suddenly, Jules stumbled slightly from the force of something running into him.

"Jules!" Came the familiar cry of the child, Nico, that had wrapped his arms around the young man's waist. Nico looked back to his father as he approached. The man looked as if he'd aged since Jules had seen him last, noticing a more worn look about the man as he coughed a few times. Jules smiled momentarily in greeting.

"Hey kid." Jules chuckled and ruffled Nico's hair, "how's it going?"

Nico began recounting all kinds of events from the week with the wonder of a child, despite the harshness of living Factionless. As he listened, Jules pulled a discrete bag of food from his larger bag for the boy and his father.
