Upon exiting, Marcel didn't stop at the front stairs to rest, but continued towards the outskirts of the quarantine zone, where the air wasn't stale and laden with the acidic smell of vomit and feces. The reek was pungent inside, where the infection spread like wildfire and the remnants of some patients still rotted. It stuck to his clothing and to his skin, drying in thick clumps of grime and tissue debris. He unfurled the strip of lenin covering his nose and mouth and took his first fresh breath, aerating his lungs with something other than oxygen filtered through the sweat-drenched cloth.
Breathing through his mouth felt dangerous, so he limited himself to long nasal inhales so as not to strain his lungs or draw in any bacteria. The air here wasn't clean enough for respite and he felt progressively more in need of fresh oxygen without the smell of the sickness bothering his airway. Not only that, he was beginning to feel dizzy.
It drove him to venture further past the border of the isolated area, seeking purchase on a wall of an empty building nearby as the awareness of his state began to sink in. There were blood stains on the white cloth in his hand, as well as remnants of vomit and pus over his skin and clothes, enabling him to catalogue the patients he'd dealt with today just by classifying the types of bodily fluids covering him head to toe. The skin of his fingers had begun to peel from the makeshift desinfectant he'd used to cleanse them after each patient. It was more an acid than a sanitizer and was beginning to eat at his fingernails. He was beginning to feel the heaviness of his limbs and the tiredness crawling over his mind now that it wasn't fuelled by the strong resolve to keep going invoked in him by the sight of the sick. Today was the worst thus far and he himself was beginning to feel ill, the realization of which failed to hit him hard until he pushed himself from the cold surface of the building.
It would be of no benefit to worry about his own health and his Erudite arrogance prevented him from thinking too much on the prospect of death - he, like all members of the self-appreciative blue faction, considered himself infallible and was determined to believe in that firmly until the moment he was forced into his death bed. Pride served him well sometimes.

So, after shaking off the disorientation of his sleep-deprived mind, he proceeded forward to the buildings looming overhead, that housed the healthy factionless. He was responsible for the transportation of patients, food and other supplies to the quarantine zones. Due to the hectic pace of the day, he hadn't been able to do his main job properly, but now, having a window of time at his disposal, intended to compensate.
He wrung the white lenin cloth out and smudged off as much of the blood as he could before tying it over his face again. He was negligent of his condition as he could sustain himself on willpower alone, but had half a mind to look out for the well-being of his people. There was a possibility he could potentially infect someone if not for countermeasures.
As he approached the buildings, he studied his surroundings carefully, noting the noticeable lack of people outside. It was unnerving to see the healthy settlement in a similar state as the virus-infested one. It was as if everyone had quarantined themselves off inside, paranoid or most likely depressed. Many had lost loved ones, but he still couldn't help but judge harshly, despite knowing the feeling from his own experiences. There were many adolescents outside, unsupervised and mostly nonchalant about the epidemic. None of the factionless were left in the dark in hopes that the collective awareness of everybody would result in a cautious community, which would take the necessary precautions. Instead, the outcome was depression, fear and an idiotic need for self-importance, stemming from the lack of sense of purpose all factionless were united under, which drove them to volunteer as helpers in the epidemic zones, blindly in search for their purposefulness. There were also people, a majority of which from the older population, who had taken it to the other extreme and didn't much care about the situation. Nihilistic was a good thing to be nowadays, as life was becoming all the more unbearable. They barely had enough to feed themselves. Very few of the workers attended their jobs lately, due to the shortage of people and the abundance of work that the remaining healthy and able-bodied were given to compensate. Without new supplies, their old ratty clothes had grayed and their bodies had thinned, likening them to one another indistinguishably.
It was why Marcel was incredibly surprised to notice a brightly clothed, well filled-out male standing out from the scarce crowd. He wasn't an Abnegation member, no grey clothes, which momentarily angered Marcel to the point of seeing red. The goddamned pansies didn't even have the decency to send parcels of food and medicine. Now that it wasn't convenient for them to theatrically display their generosity, they didn't bother for acts of kindness.
Marcel increased the length of his strides on his way towards the small gathering around the male, shakily recognizing him as an Amity, though he couldn't put a name to him as he didn't keep tabs on the faction visitors. They'd received none as of late, however, as the government had issued a warning about the spreading virus and Marcel himself had also done his best to keep outsiders away. But he was desperate now.
"Hey!" he hollered sharply at the trio after pausing at an acceptable distance from them, which necessitated some yelling also due to the cloth over his mouth. He didn't have to raise his voice much as his deep tone was carried easily. "He a faction member?" he asked the middle aged man chatting with the black-haired teen. He needed to know for sure before he'd made his requests.

@poe So am I. You don't see me complaining. XD At least your characters have /had/ interactions. Jackson is in a train along with four other characters. You'll manage. As for Jules, be patient. You can see things are working out. x3 @jazzyleia @dramatic @cutebirdy79 @motivecat

I noticed as a guy swung himself into the train. Erudite. I considered talking to him, because my father was once Erudite, and the faction ways stayed with him at home, but decided against it. It would probably only end with me yelling at him.

There was also a tall, blonde, dauntless born initiate standing near the end of the car. Somebody then yelled for everyone to get ready.

I stood up and stood by a window, not wanting to stand in the doorway where I could fall. There was a good four or five feet between the train and the roof where I would've hoped to land, and ten or twenty feet down to the ground. 'What?' I watched in shock as a person, jumped off the train and onto the roof! I stepped back from the window and turned to the Erudite boy. "They're jumping off." I said. I walked over and stood in the doorway, preparing to jump. I backed up against the wall, watched until I could see the roof in front of me, ran, and jumped.

It was weird. It felt like I was flying, because there was nothing, except me, air, and the roof hurtling towards me. Or me towards it. I hit the ground hard, on my stomach, and just rolled until I slowed down. "Thank God for leather." I said, looking down at my arms and sides. My black leather jacket from Candor had blocked gravel from digging into my arms, shoulders, and sides, but my legs were another story. I sat down, and picking gravel out of my white pants. I dusted off and stood up, choosing to just stand there was watch the initiates jump off rather than go and stand over with the initiates gathered by a wall.

I jumped onto the train and slowly grabbed the handle at the top. Quick was in there and so were many other transferer's. As some time passed, I heard a hush fall over the new Dauntless kids. "They're jumping off."

I went straight to the open door. My first test. I jumped not knowing I was one of the first to do so. Landing on my feet I felt not pain but a woosh of energy surge through me. I smiled and laughed walking to the end of a wall. The next test.

Whatever happened next, I knew it wouldn't be chores and hiding. I was ready. I knew it.

@dramatic Does this work? c: @appleblizzard @jazzyleia @cutebirdy79 @poe

Dima had just made his way to the upper levels of the compound when the walls began to echo with the familiar rumble of trembling train tracks. They passed overhead, along the side of the building's roof and were attached to it by solid metal pillars, which supported the entire weight of the train. This enabled those inside the compound to physically feel the Dauntless coming when the iron foundations of the tracks began to rattle with the pressure of the approaching vehicle.
He quickly made his way to the roofs through a set of maze-like corridors, one of which opened on the side of the building the transfers were supposed to jump from. It was more of a hole in the wall than an actual exit - basically an opening with a latch at the end of the corridor, which overlooked a ten meter drop. Above the latch a metal ladder was installed, leading upwards towards the top of the building, where the initiates usually arrived at. The climbing itself was a hard task since getting one's footing in midair was tricky, but Dima, paying little regard to the wobble of the installment, made his way up the ladder quickly enough to make it before the train had passed. Hauling himself over the metal railing of the roof, he then leaned against it patiently while waiting for the faction members to jump down.
As soon as the train whooshed by, the descent began.
Dima quickly saw who he was looking for amongs the abundance of leather-clad veterans at the front of the train as he took the initiating leap, after which everyone followed. The man was easily noticed for his appearance - blonde and blue-eyed and stockily built - as well as the powerful quality to his movements, which had boosted him to land in the middle of the roof, rather than the periphery. He landed in a crouch, measuring his actions flawlessly and swiftly turned to supervise the rest of the faction's landing. Many of the other Dauntless were also capable of such feats, but didn't feel the need to display their strength as much as the blonde. Out of respect, they allowed him that advantage, so as to have the benefit of respect from the initiates. The newbies needed to acknowledge the superiority of some members over others - namely the leaders. The man heading the descent of the faction, had a notable aura of authority and dominance, an obvious alpha, who nevertheless warmly greeted the Dauntless members who, like Dima, had been waiting on the roof. Many of them were guards, who seldom visited the compound, again, like Dima himself, and hadn't seen each other or their leaders in weeks. It wasn't just a gathering of new members - it was something of a reunion as well. Everyone had been called back to the compound for the initiations and that meant catching up.

The blonde seemed to tactfully notice Dima last, so by the time they'd clasped each other's shoulders, all other greetings had been distributed and nobody demanded the leader's attention.
He gave the dark-haired guard a subdued smile as the other grinned back wolfishly.
"I see you missed me." Dima teased with a pointed wink and didn't fight against the harsh shove he received. The blonde raised an eyebrow at him, obviously unamused and refused to smile again, mostly due to the formality of the event.

"You came for the /initiations/?" the man asked and his tone held ire at the implication that the ravenhead had just now returned to the compound for an event he had always claimed to despise after two weeks of spending the nights at his guard post. He always seemed to be annoyed at the notion of his faction members overworking themselves, but was ironhanded when it came to Dima's regimes. The dark-haired boy was his ex-trainee and personal responsibility and thus the blonde did his best to manage the faction nuisance. In Dima's opinion, his control freak tendencies were endearing as they were annoying.

He grinned wider.
"So you did miss me!" he cooed, leaning his elbow on the man's shoulder to cockily emphasize his superior height, then laughed after having the blonde walk off. It seemed he was quite done with the greetings and salutations. Quite justifiably at that.

The blonde stood at the side of the roof, waiting for all the Dauntless to make their way down from the train, cataloguing the inborn factions of the transfers. With his peripheral vision, he noticed Dima join him where he stood and wondered whether his superior build and Dima's height made them an intimidating duo - that was most probably what the ravenhead had intended when positioning himself there. He was poised cockily and looked down on the transfers with a raised eyebrow.
"Lots from Erudite this year." Dima commented and he bobbed his head absentmindedly to agree.

((I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining. ^^; Just mentioning the lack of interaction because it keeps things interesting.))

Jackson took his jump not a minute after the girl who chose to jump first from his train car. He took a couple long strides before diving out, and he let himself tumble once he hit the roof. The roll lessened the feeling of the impact.

The copper-haired teen picked himself up off the ground, still very energetic. He walked farther away from the edge to avoid being in the landing area, but didn't quite stand with the accumulating group of initiates.

Back amongst the solemn buildings the Factionless sometimes called home, a middle-aged man named Bernard turned to look a little sheepishly at the sharp-featured newcomer.

"Yeah, he's from the factions all right." Bernard told the man, smiling a little as if to hide his uncertainty about the situation. Nico, on the other hand, looked a little scared. Maybe it was the the way the man looked. He was wearing clothing covered in what looked to Jules like blood and perhaps various other bodily fluids.

The father and son's change in attitude, as well as the appearance of the newcomer, had Jules wondering who this man was, and if he should be wary of him. For now, he decided to keep relaxed and at least meet the man. Jules left Dauntless, but not his training.

@poe Initiate instead of mentioning. Also ping me next time dude.

One of the nonchalant people from the older generations then, Marcel duly noted the factionless man. He knew him by name, as his child was one of the youngest in these parts, but hadn't been aware of his attitude towards the situation until now. He seemed either uninformed or uncaring, if his disregard of Marcel's appearance and the obvious urgency of his tone was anything to go by. The man found himself getting increasingly irked again, disheartened by the lack of initiative for their situation not only amongst the factionss, but amongst his own people as well.
His pride refused to let him ask anything of a faction member, as it was theequivalent of begging in his eyes, but, again, he was desperate and in need of all the help he could get.
Steeling his dignity, so as to not let it slip or prevent him from continuing, he raised his voice again.

"Tell him, next time he visits, to bring medicine." Marcel instructed, "Antibiotics especially." If the Abnegation pansies were refusing them the little help they had once received and the government wasn't issuing any orders to aid them in theirsituation, then, god be his witness, he was going to find himself an alternative. Medicine, first and foremost. The sickness needed to be contained and, though the medics weren't sure if the epidemic was caused by a virus of bacteria, if it was the latter, it would certainly show. In the meantime, they also needed painkillers. "And morphine." he added. "Or paracetamol. Just- Any analgesic. Some need it more than food right now."

I looked over as a dark haired man who was very muscular climbed up onto the roof. He leaned by the ledge, watching the initiates get off. He seemed to be talking to a blonde, obviously they knew each other. I decided at this time to walk over and stand with initiates standing in front of this guy. He was really, intimidating. He looked like he could knock you out, just by snapping or something. I looked around at the dauntless initiates in the crowd, and suddenly felt self conscious. They were tall, and muscular… I was short and thin and had almost no muscle at all. Also my hair was very weird compared to the blacks and vibrant colours of the others hair. I nervously twirled a lock of my hair, wishing it was black, or purple, or something other than coppery brown.

I held my head up high and looked around. The first step to being strong, I had always thought to myself, is to feel strong.

I could do this. This was my life now. I had two choices: Make do and get stronger, or throw it all away.

@jazzyleia ((So after they jump onto the train, they ride it for awhile, and jump off onto a roof. There's a ledge at the back, which you can jump off of into a hole. This is where either a trainer or dauntless leadership welcomes the initiates and tells them to jump down the hole to enter the dauntless compound. Jupiter_hollow's character Dima is by that ledge, and most of the initiates are gathered over there.))

((That's super weird because you should have gotten a ping. 😱
Also, to me it seems like they don't just have drugstores and stuff everywhere, so I imagine medicine isn't a widely available thing. But I'm not really sure if it says otherwise in the books, so I'm just going with the implied scarcity of stuff in the movie.))

Jackson approached the girl twirling her hair and staring at the other Dauntless born initiates, just like he'd been doing. He wondered what she was thinking.

"They're all a little intense, eh?" Jackson stated when he was next to her.

Not far from the quarantined zone, Jules shifted his weight to one leg as he tucked his thumbs in his pockets.

"Sounds like the government in all it's selflessness has decided to leave you all for dead." Jules cut off Bernard before he could reply to the man covered in all kinds of filth. "You know, you could just ask me yourself, considering I'm still here."

Jules thought about what the man had asked. If Abnegation wasn't helping the Factionless, they were probably getting no help. Neither of the requested medications were particularly easy to come by. In his brief consideration of the matter, Jules figured he'd have a couple options. He found the tiniest slivers of worry creeping into his mind. Nico had been a friend of his for a few years now, and he didn't want to see the boy catch whatever afflicted the Factionless now.

@poe I haven't gotten a ping once from you in this roleplay. Can you guess why? Hint: it's not a problem on my end.
Also, for real? Is it implied or established? If it is implied as in not mentioned, then it isn't implied. It's simply not mentioned.
-

And this one. This one wasn't as selfless as Amity came either. Probably wasn't faction born as the mark of egotism was showing, no doubt ingrained somewhere along the chain of his DNA spiral. Not the best choice of encounter, certainly not the Factionless' only bet, or so he hoped.
Marcel secured the cloth over his face, sighing into it lightly as he estimated the young man, "This isn't a goddamned pity initiative, boy." then turned to Bernard, now more disheartened.
"Tell him what's happening. Report in later if he gets generous or not."
He extracted himself from the conversation then, proceeding towards the buildings of the healthy where he was designated to do his job, with utmost care this time as he was to watch out for the proximity between himself and healthy factionless. He didn't quite enter the building, rather yelled out to one of the factionless perched on a balcony, who went inside to call the middle-aged woman who usually communicated with him most and took up all liberties to aid him in his task as much as she could from her position as a mother of five, two of which factionless along with her. He waited patiently for the delivery, bracing himself for news of either shortage of lack of supplies.

I noticed that an Erudite member had walked up next to me, and said something. I promptly dropped the lock of my hair I was playing with, and looked at him. My first interaction with my new faction members might as well be a nice one. "They are. Especially that guy." I said, gesturing towards the man leaning against the wall. "I hope he's not involved in our training. Or I would be scared." I said, sort of half smiling.

Dima wordlessly scanned the accumulating crowd of brats, arrogantly revelling in his hulking physical superiority over them, further enhanced by the bulky blonde at his side. He didn't need to look at the man to know he was annoyed with him - his emotions rarely showed past his veneer of authoritive scowling but two years of the blonde's constant vigilance over Dima's shoulder had made him awfully predictable to the ravenhead. But not boringly so.
"You're pouting." Dima teased with a grin, knowing the man could see it with his peripherals even though he was still standing with his gaze directed at the group of initiates. As a reply, his face creased further and the arch of his brow deepened. "Hon, we talked about your frown lines, it's unhealthy to frown do much. The sight makes me just as miserable and disappointed in life but one must never compromise their beauty because of incompetents."
Dima saw the bridge of the man's nose crinkle and his nostrils flare, no doubt due to the audacity of Dima himself to insult the initiates after his colossal failure as such in his own sixteenth year. He took sick pride in his unmatched hypocrisy and flaunted it like it was a thing to covet, infuriating his audience further with a foxy quirk of his lips and an expression of mockery.
When it was quite obvious the blonde had had enough, Dima patted his shoulder in mock understanding, as if sympathizing with him for having to bear his presence; surely enough, the man decided he couldn't bear it and walked off unceremonially.
It was timed perfectlyas the initiates had all just gathered and now required further instructions, which the blonde was chosen to supply.
He walked to the side of the roof where the other veterans and leaders stood and placed himself in front of them so he was directly facing the initiates and was closest to them. From afar the situation had looked more promising but, by god, some of them positively jittered. He knew better than to think it was from adrenaline...
"Welcome to the door of Dauntless, initiates." He announced in a solemn tone, intended to intimidate but also to provoke the laughter of the veterans. They jeered the newbies with rancorous chuckles, much like Dima would have had he not remained leaning against the railing. The blonde gave him a fleeting glance before continuing with a motion towards the group of men and women behind himself.
"We're your superiors.." He began and paused briefly for a short introduction of each of the veterans, a few playful banters between some of them and a yell of 'Name's Dima!' from the other side of the roof before he continued. "And I'm Law." He introduced himself and waited out the wooping and cheering of the Dauntless. Yes, his name was certainly a blatant pun of his personality. "Short for Lawrence. The nickname is there for a reason, though. I'm one of your leaders."
He extended an arm to his left, pointing at the edge of the roof.
"And this is our doorstep." He paused to let them comprehend what was expected of them, before stepping aside. "It's pretty self-explanatory. You jump. If not, you get off of our welcome mat, because you're not welcome into Dauntless."
Training his gaze on them intently, he motioned towards the edge beckoningly. "Volunteers?"

As the man asked for volunteers, I looked at the edge and wondered what was down there. I decided that I better find out for myself.

"I'll go first." I said quickly surprising even myself. Heads turned to me as I walked towards the edge. I looked down. It was pretty deep.

"Well...?" Asked the Leader. I looked at the people I already knew like Quick and Dima. Taking a deep breath I jumped into the darkness...

I landed onto a net which sprung up. Bouncing up, I rolled over onto the floor and got up quickly. Another member greeted us here.

"First one to jump aren't you?" He asked. "Welcome to Dauntless world."

He looked a lot older than me but not too old, he was wearing a black suit with a jacket and had black-ish hair.

I stood waiting for my friends to come at the edge of the net.

@dramatic @jupiter_hollow @appleblizzard ((Is this it for people now? And as for supplies I said implied because the factions are shown getting rations and stuff in the movie. I'm not so sure that those rations would have a great deal of medicine, much less excess medicine included. Idk how it is in the book or if someone wants to google how that all works.))

Jules wondered if the man just had a stick up his -

"Er, right." Bernard nodded in affirmation to the man as he ended the conversation, breaking up Jules' brief distracted thought.

"Bernard, what is happening here? This looks serious. I know you don't like the help, but it would be rather negligent of me to watch you starve." Jules asked seriously, but not reflecting his concern. Despite his kind tendencies, he wasn't actually very good with feelings or expressing them.

"Nico, why don't you go back now." Bernard suggested, though it sounded like a command.

"But dad..." Nico whined, the way children often do, "Jules promised to play a song today because he forgot last week!"

"I'll be back tomorrow, kid." Jules interjected, and Nico sighed melodramatically before running off.

No sooner had the child left than Bernard began his barrage, "what is this garbage you're always throwing at us? Do you just feel so fulfilled in 'helping'? Does it make you feel like some kind of hero?" The middle-aged man spat at Jules' feet.

"If the government and abnegation will not help you now, then I will continue to do so because it would be a crying shame to watch human beings die with the ability to do something to help. Would you not do everything you can to keep your son alive?" Jules calmly focused on the taller downtown core as he spoke, sounding disinterested. He then met Bernard's eyes with his intense gaze and his lips turned up in a slight smile, "I already know you wouldn't."

Bernard was about to respond when he was overcome with a fit of coughing. Jules watched as Bernard pulled a filthy cloth away from his mouth, newly spotted red. He didn't want to speak with Bernard any longer.

The young man turned and walked away. Jules never liked Bernard much. The man lacked any sort of ambition. It was part of what landed him here, Jules suspected. Bernard was an open book. Jules used to just bring money when he could because it was small and discrete, but he switched to bringing food when he noticed Bernard's breath always smelled of drink.
_____________________________________________________________

Jackson grinned his broad, boyish grin, and nodded his agreement. Before he could ask her name, but a blond authoritative man - who introduced himself as Law - began addressing the gathered initiates.

After the intros and jeering, Law pointed to the edge of the building and asked for volunteers to jump. Jackson was most certainly not going first, and he'd made that decision almost immediately. Second would suit him fine, though.

The boy watched as the first girl walked up to the edge. He recognized her as Scilent, from before. She seemed pretty fearless as she jumped over. Once she disappeared, the veterans looked back to the crowd.

"Next jumper!" Someone called.

Jackson stepped up, not hesitant. If someone else had gone first, he wasn't so concerned for his own safety any more. He figured he'd work on his bravery after the jump.

He stood with his toes embracing the edge of the roof. The hole below was too dark to see into. With one breath, Jackson decided he may as well not waste time thinking about this one.

He jumped.

The air rushed through his light auburn hair as he plummeted through the hole. The feeling was exhilarating, and Jackson loved it.

All too soon, his body collided with something that seemed to wrap him up momentarily to break his long fall. A net, he realized. Jackson glanced around quickly, his eyes adjusting to the dim light. Another member of Dauntless lowered a corner of the high net so Jackson could clamber unceremoniously to the ground.

"Welcome..." The man trailed off, waiting for a name.

"Jackson Quick." Jackson replied without a thought.

"Quick. I like it. Better live up to that one." He smiled.

Quick joined Scilent a few paces from the net.

"That was exciting." He watched, waiting for the rest to jump.

I heard someone fall into here and I looked eager to see who it was. The man that welcomed me earlier bought in another transferer: Jackson.

"Hello Jackson." I said happy that at least one of my new friends were with me at last. "Fun? It was awesome!"

I leaned over to the edge and propped myself up on the net looking up into the sky. I remembered how life was like before this day. With no family to care for me, living alone, hiding from Bruce, being constantly jeered at. I frowned as a tear escaped my eye unwillingly.

Wiping my eyes quickly, I hoped Quick didn't notice. I didn't want to make a fool of myself in front of someone again especially as I didn't know if he was like Bruce or not. I never really talked to him that much. Biting my lip, I waited for someone else to jump in.

{Jubilee}

I looked at the two intimidating Dauntless authority figures, and shuddered. I didn't want to go first, but I didn't want to go last. After Jackson and.. what was her name? Scilent. After they went, I raised my hand. "I'll go." I said boldly. I walked over to the ledge and climbed up on it.

Once I had gotten a grip with my feet, I gathered my courage, and looked down. It was maybe a twenty foot drop, into a hole. Past that, I don't know how far. I looked straight ahead, and closed my eyes for a second. I then opened them again, and jumped.

It was weird. I could feel my black pants rippling in the wind as I fell, and my jacket was flying behind me. Finally, I reached the hole and fell through.

I hit the net hard and bounced a couple of times. I lay there for a moment in shock, and then started laughing. I was still laughing in fact, when someone yanked the net. I tumbled over and jumped down. "What's your name?" A Dauntless asked me. 'To be honest, or hide what you don't want others to know?' I thought to myself. I didn't really ever like my name, but in the end my Candor instincts got a hold of me, and I replied. "Jubilee Lerotto," and then quietly, "but most people just call me Julie.

I smiled and looked around. There was a girl leaning up against the net, and a boy who was kind of just standing there.

Then the screams started again, as more initiates jumped in.

This was the beginning of a new, amazing life.

Someone jumped into the hole. I greeted a tan skinned, freckled girl. Her hair was slightly wavy and brown, her eyes a piercing green colour.

Glad to be finally in the company of another female, I greeted her with a shaky smile. "Hello. I'm Scilent. I used to be in Eritude."

I got up and extended my hand waiting for her to shake it. She seemed unwilling and my smile faltered for a moment as I dropped my hand. Deciding she just didn't want to speak to me, I backed away and waited for someone more talkative to enter the home of the Dauntless.

@dramatic @appleblizzard @poe no need to worry, it isn't that long =3 You can minimize your posts by erasing the spacing. I do it to compress what I write in neat paragraphs xD I usually type on phone so I don't have much of a choice anyway.

As soon as Law's instructions were given, the initiates had begun pouring down the tear in the roof as if it was child's play. There was an initial pause of bated breaths but hardly any tense silence settled over the group before a blue-clad girl (Scilent, ironically) volunteered, doubtlessly Erudite down to her bone marrow in her obvious eagerness to explore. A bout of enthusiastic clapping followed her to the edge and a chorus of elated yells accompanied her jump. She didn't exactly make quickwork of it, but she went down the 'drain' without much hesitation. Next was another blue coat, male this time, who walked up to the edge and climbed on so fast one of the veterans had to ward him off for a bit before they could be sure the first jumper was out of harm's way below. This one didn't stall whatsoever, hauling himself head-first, figuratively speaking. The descent was progressing with startling velocity. Lawrence, having been an Erudite transfer himself, seemed to puff out like a mother hen, crossing arms over his chest so his muscles and chest bulged out victoriously. He hadn't had high hopes for this year's selection in terms of bravery, but was ecstatic to have been proven wrong.
Dima had sauntered over to the site of the commotion as well, Lawrence noted, as a familiar headfull of curls peeked over his shoulder and he felt a breathy chuckle tickle his cheek. He could hear the leer in Dima's voice and could guess that the expression was directed at the group of initiates with the intention to intimidate; from anyone else's glorious perspective, it seemed as if the ravenhead was gossiping harshly about the teens.
"You're positively glowing." The younger man was mockingly cooing instead, leaning in uncomfortably close as he usually did. Law eventually nudged his head away, inevitably unnerved though his face remained a picture of stoicism as it had all through the inspiringly successful first two jumps. His head was angled towards the initiates and it looked like he was eyeing the Candor girl about to jump rather than Dima when he raised an eyebrow and pursed his lips in annoyance.
"They're adapting quickly." he said, then subtly shrugged off the elbow Dima placed on his shoulder. He could feel the amused grin trained on him.
"Aren't you the doting mother." The ravenhead sneered. "Your hatchlings are hardly doing anything by jumping. They'll still get beaten to pulps" he was jibing at the blonde's enthusiasm, annoyed at his satisfaction with the performances of the initiates. "Wouldn't that be pride-inspiring to watch?"
Lawrence simply glanced his way and then nodded towards the Candor girl as she disappeared from sight. The initiation was still going full force and just as impressively as it had begun.
Dima wasn't at all impressed.

"You seemed much happier with the blueheads." He teased, instead of acknowledging the third jumper.
Lawrence's face seemed to soften. It was partially true. He invested more emotion and expectation in the Erudite transfers due to his growing up in the faction, but it wasn't only that - he knew from that experience that they were endowed with the essentials of a successful fighter and those, contrary to popular belief, didn't include strength. Intelligence, resourcefullness and most of all, speed - of mind, and soon inevitably - of body. He had been a carrier of those traits at his arrival as well. So had Dima; he remembered.

"You were from Erudite as well."

Dima snorted. He shared no such sentiment. "What am I supposed to be, proud? Bravery hardly covers their ranking. Plus, they'll crap their pants at the simulations."

"Reminds me of somebody." Lawrence berated him harshly but quietly, reminding him of his own predicament at his initiation two years ago. It was hardly dissimilar.
Dima just cackled in a hush.

"What, the pants-crapping?" he inquired in a light, jokative tone, recalling his flawless performance in the mental trials with unmasked glee. One of the very few moments of his initiation that had actually been worthy of pride.

"The ranking failure." Lawrence specified. "First jumps are hardly anything to go by, as you say?"

"Yeah." the ravenhead nodded. "And considering these days very few have the sparkling personality I had back then, I doubt they'd last long. Zero motivation."

Frowning outwardly at this, Lawrence angled his head sideways to give Dima a reprimanding glare. The ravenhead was close to crossing the line with his audacity as he usually did at initiations. There was a tenseness to him and an intensity to his dark humour and taunts that reminded Lawrence of a coiled spring. Work wound the black-haired guard up to the point of snapping (and even Lawrence had never seen him snap) - he knew what a monotone pace all guard duties had and was aware of the impact they would have on an energy vampire like Dima; with nobody to suck the life out of and no actual labour to put Dima's liveliness to good use, the man accumulated bitterness and negativity.
And returning after weeks on end on that regime to find Dauntless supplied with a whole new set of transfers was like a feast for his soul - Lawrence could tell he was anticipating getting under new skins and earning himself a name of infamy all over again. The ravenhead possessed all of the traits of his inborn faction enhanced tenfold and had, with time, shaped them into weapons against the mentality of others. Physically imposing as he was, Dima was foremost intelligent. And though he spoke of lacking motivation, he was no doubt going to try his best to test the initiates' every boundary.

Which, Lawrence realized, wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
"Motivate them then." he said, and watched as Dima's head snapped towards him sharply.

"What?"
The roof had cleared up by now, only occupied by a select group of veterans escorting what very few transfers hadn't wanted to jump away from the compound.
All the successful initiates were down at the net, waiting for instructions and Lawrence had just been struck with the thought he'd just voiced, but as it manifested itself, he found it to be a possible solution to a number of problems.

"Motivate them." he repeated to the guard and found him frowning in bafflement again. He had to wait out the few seconds it took Dima to understand the implication of his order. The ravenhead smiled open-mouthedly, emmiting a dramatic gasp, pretending to mock the blonde again even though he was elated to have been assigned the training of the initiates.
"You're letting me play with them? What a treat!" he purred in delight, winding his arms around Lawrence's biceps in a parody of affection. "I know it's our two-year anniversary, but you didn't have to!" Before he could make further mockery of the blonde, he extracted his arm from Dima's grip and waved him off nonchalantly.

In reality, he was just as glad that the guard had accepted. Channeling Dima's natural wit and his partiality to nasty remarks always worked in stimulating ways for the receiving party - the hatred and anger he invoked in his opponents worked wonders for their motivation. Lawrence had no doubt it would work just as well for the initiates, while, in the mean time, it would also Dima down.

He raised an eyebrow at the man.
"It's a direct order; I wasn't joking." he insisted.
The guard seemed to bustle with something other than bitterness and spent no time dallying. He hurried towards the edge and only turned to blow Lawrence a kiss before hauling himself backwards down the hole.

The veterans near the net seemed to be surprized by his appearance, having initially thought him a late jumper, but attempted to help him down anyway. He rolled out of the net on his own and threw an arm around the neck of a red-haired Dauntless nearby.
"Heyyyyyy dolly dolly dolly!" he hollered loudly, the sound reverberating in the hall with ear-piercing intensity. After he'd caught the attention of the necessary people (and some unnecessary ones outside in the hallways), he began issuing out orders.
"Dauntless born can go and transfers stay with me."

Everything was quickly arranged and as he found himself standing in front of the none-too-small group of differently-clad teens, he couldn't help but grin wolfishly.
"Welcome, incompetents. My name is Dima and I will be tour guide, initiator, trainer and the source of holy life for each and every one of you these following days." he winked at an Erudite boy endearingly. "Keep that in mind."

Someone approached us. It was only Dima. But then he said something as if he was going to...be our trainer? I cocked my head quizzingly as the others gathered around him. I listened up and looked around for the guy that had been here before but there was no sign of him.

I wondered what we were to do now.

I turned towards the formerly Erudite girl. "I'm Jubilee, but you can just call me Julie." I said. "Nice to meet you." I turned towards the intimidating black haired guy as he said he was going to be our... trainer? I was shocked. I couldn't train under that guy! I just stared slack jawed at him for a moment, then I decided that I needed to seem strong. "So are we just gonna stand here or what?" I asked loudly.

Dima's wide and satisfied grin at the initiates' apprehension tightened suddenly when he noticed one girl of black and white attire speak up - oh, defiants on the first day. He raised his eyebrows and his eyes sharpened and his expression turned even more unpleasant, pale eyes potentially able to stare a wall down, but trying to mentally poke a hole in the Candor child's head instead.
He barely supressed a sneer, revelling in the knowledge that Lawrence would be as disappointed as Dima was gleeful about the defiance of the initiate - which somewhat resembled Dima's own and would thus pain Lawrence greatly.
The raven quirked the side of his mouth up as he approached, hands nonchalantly stuffed in his hands; his expression was a mix of calmness and some degree of annoyance, but he remained quiet when he spoke.

"Yeah." he shrugged plainly. "You're gonna stand here." his expression split in malice. "All day - without moving. And if you do, you're sleeping on the floor for a week." His grin stretched further, returning to its former glory and as he stopped directly in front of the girl, he felt oddly authoritive. How intoxicating power was...

"If not," he amended "then at the end of the day you would've thoroughly pondered on the general significance of words and when it is appropriate to use them." He leaned back in a casual manner, shrugging his eyebrows. "Hopefully realizing the futility of theatrics as well, because it isn't how you prove yourself in Dauntless. I understand the need to stand up to me but, frankly, that was a pathetic attempt. If we're honest, it wasn't exactly defiance and neither was it honesty, Candor." He leaned down, having to bend substantially and leered over the brunette. "That" he emphasized "was stupidity. You did nothing but annoy me."

Getting out of the girl's space, he looked down at her again.
"Keep quiet next time. You'd make a decent impression if you didn't open your mouth." he flicked a strand of her hair, implying her looks would do her better good than her wit, or lackthereof.

Telling Jubilee to keep quiet, Dima returned to his place. I suppressed an urge to tell him to be quiet when talking to my friends. But I didn't want to hide from another person so I kept my mouth shut. I tried to work out what was gonna happen next but I didn't have a clue how these things work so I wasn't even close.

@jupiter_hollow Oh yeah. Jubilee's scared, but trying not to be by acting not scared. XD @poe @appleblizzard

{Jubilee}

I felt myself shrink as Dima stepped towards me. He flicked my hair and stepped back and I nervously pulled it back over my shoulders. I rolled my eyes at him and crossed my arms. "I was simply asking a question." I said. "I would just like to know where things are around here, so I don't get hopelessly lost on my first day." I smiled at him, frankly scared to death.

"A pointless question." Dima specified, getting increasingly unhinged by the girl's behaviour. He wasn't allowed to discipline the initiates in his own way, but was tempted to try and see what happens. If anything, he didn't hit girls, however. "Did I not say I was to be your tour guide? Yes? See, again, stupid." He insisted, leaning over the initiate again and this time getting too close for comfort.
"And again, I'm repeating since you probably didn't get it the first time. In order to survive in Dauntless you keep your mouth shut, incompetent."

"I'm sorry." I muttered. "I didn't hear you." I said, stepping back. I nervously straightened my white shirt and played with my hair as I stepped back to stand next to Scilent. "He sure is intimidating huh?" I asked her quietly.

"I'm not exactly fine with it, but hey. As long as he doesn't kill us, I can inevitably struggle along with the fact that he is going to be overseeing our training." I replied to Scilent. I followed her gaze towards Dima.

I nodded though inside, I felt beaten somehow. I had given in. Again. To someone in control. Again. The same story was happening. AGAIN!

I tightened my fist and narrowed my eyes slightly. Dauntless was after all, about learning about yourself, fighting your fears and staying strong. In order not to get kicked out, I needed not to just obey this guy, but to also be able to stand up to him.

I didn't say anything to him. Although I really wanted to give him a peace of my mind about his methods of teaching. Whoa does that guy need to chill!
