Mo?

So I was at the cave, and ran into a Poibleu. So, I took it and named it. But as soon as It linked me back to its page it had turned into a Mo.

Now obviously, I ain't mad. It's just that I don't remember it working this way. I've just only come back recently, so has this changed?
It's just that I'm pretty sure when I found my first Mo it told me that I'd found one, not magically poofed into one.

Is this an error or am I just not remembering correctly?

It's not an error.
They changed it awhile back but didn't start out that way yes. They disguise themselves most the time now but people say they still find em normally
