Spottedpaw woke up in the apprentice den with light streaming through the opening. Blinking at the sudden light she leapt up, and slowly stretched her stiff muscles. Yawning, she stumbled out of the den, and sleepily surveryed the camp.

Cherrypaw's ears twitched in annoyance when the loud chirping of birds woke her up. She burrowed her head under her paws, determined to fall back asleep.

Splashkit opened her right eye, then carefully her left. She yawned and bounced awake. Her fur was a mess, but she didn't care. But then realised she'd need to clean herself later, so she started now.

Willowkit woke up at the sound of her denmate bouncing around as usual. Every hair on her pelt stood on end as she remembered a small piece of what had happened before she was taken in by the clan. She missed the sense of two small bodies near her, only she couldn't remember why. "oh well," she thought. "I'll just have to deal with not remembering why I feel this way." She clammbered to her paws, stretched, and left the nursery behind to go get some fresh kill. She would have to ask one of the queens to help her finish it, though. As she stepped out of the nursery, Cloudpaw's scent hit her like a wall. She froze. "Stupid furball!" she muttered to herself. "If you keep acting like this, everyone is going to notice!"

Stifling a large yawn Spottedpaw padded to the fresh-kill pile, and selected a plump vole for herself. Laying down comfortable in the shade, the black and white she-cat began eating. She glanced around, wondering where her mentor was.

Cherrypaw hissed softly in annoyance when she heard scuffling. The black she-cat burrowed down farther into her soft moss nest and placed her paws over her ears.

Cherrypaw finally gave up trying to sleep and glanced sleepily around the den. Rising with a yawn, she exited the den with her tail drooping in drowsiness.

Spottedpaw finished her vole in swift bites. Licking her lips the black and white she-cat fixed her gaze up at the sun-rise in the sky. Seeing a sleepy looking Cherrypaw exit the apprentice den Spottedpaw mewed a greeting.
"Hi Cherrypaw!" Spottedpaw called out cheerfully.

Willowkit's belly growled, and she glanced at the fresh kill pile. "I guess I'll have to get the answer another time," she meowed to Crystalstar. "Bye Crystalstar!" She raced to the fresh kill pile, and tripped over Spottedpaw's tail. "oof." She got to her paws, and looked at Spottedpaw. "Hey, have you seen Cloudpaw anywhere this morning?"

Cherrypaw mumbled a greeting to Spottedpaw, then selected a mouse from the fresh-kill pile. She took a large bite out of it, and began chewing it slowly.

Spottedpaw's ear twitched in suprise when Willowkit stumbled over her.
"Cloudpaw? Uh, no," Spottedpaw said. "He's probably still sleeping."

Cherrypaw turned her head, and made a face at Willowkit. She picked up her half eaten mouse and stalked away, shaking her head in disgust.

"Aw, come on Cherrypaw!" Spottedpaw called after the black she-cat.
She turned back to Willowkit and smiled apologetically.
"Sorry about Cherrypaw. She's a lot nicer than she looks." The black and white she-cat told Willowkit. Spottedpaw crouched down. "But sure! I could show you one or two things myself."
