I decorate my family XMas Tree w/tons of "different" ornaments. No color theme. We use colored lights or just all white xmas lights for the tree. We have numerous unmatched ornaments--some ancient--lol.
Or should I say "handed down through the years". Some even r so old that the decoration is a bit worn off. But its ok being they r from Great-Grandma's prior trees! 😊

@raindrops

At my house we decorate it with any of the ornaments we have around. I remember one year there was way too much tinsel because my twin adores tinsel and kept putting it on. We have a range of things including baubles, angels, little santas, candy canes and a few homemade things that my sisters and I made when we were very young. There's even some glass ones but I never touch them because I don't want them to break.

I normally don't feel the "Christmas Spirit" until the day so if I lived alone I would probably just have one of those small trees and place a few little baubles on it.

@mastergemma Nice for the reply! Stores here r already playing Christmas music & having black fridays believe it or not! Crazy.

I had 1 of my cats that LOVE to eat tinsel so that doesn't go on the tree anymore....lol. Very dangerous one yr. :0

We color theme our tree, when my sister and I were younger it was an ornament free for all though.

One year we did a candy cane tree with red and silver ornaments, candy canes, and a big red and white striped ribbon + bow. That was my favorite tree. Not sure what ours will be this year though!

We normally do a blue and silver theme (and have for about 20 years, long before Frozen made it popular). Usually the supplies are gathered in the January sales and stashed, but by keeping the colours the same it makes it easier to get new stuff that won't clash.

This year however I have more enthusiasm than I've had for the last 5 years. We have decided to change it up and are going black. I have a black and white tree, black tinsel and black baubles. I also have a black Santa hat and apron with "Bah Humbug" on it. I'll probably still use some of the silver as I currently can't be bothered with making a black star. However I have a month before final decisions are made, as Birthdays come first.

@raindrops
It purely comes from finding some black ornaments with "All I want for Christmas....... is for it to be over", and "Christmas is cancelled". We are a family of adults, and I'm the one who hosts. The last 2 years my mum has been unwell, to the point 2 years ago I was actually cancelling Christmas on the 22nd, as we thought that she was going to be in hospital 600 kms away, only to ring everyone about 4pm Christmas Eve with a "bring what you have" message. This year, she has a specialist appointment later this week that may result in her being in the exact same place. Last year was "only" a negative reaction to some medication that almost resulted in a trip to Emergency Christmas morning.

I suspect that every one with either love or hate the colour scheme. I'm planning black and white table decorations, and have my eye out for black wrapping paper.

@minnie298a I totally understand as I lost my father on Christmas Eve from a stroke in his brain stem. So I try & get through the "season" somewhat w/hesitation myself.

I wrote a new blog in Christmas or Hum-Bug. If interested ck it out. Would love ur opinion on that one!

Sry to hear about ur mom & really feel sad for U since this is all put on u to handle the "Holiday" at ur house. (Just a thought, but I've seen black ornaments at wal-mart store). If u have those stores by u. Also u can get black table-cloth there too. Don't like wal-mart much but it's about all we have where I'm at rt now. 2 states away from home! Sucks... Small vacation town here.

U need to talk or vent plz feel free to PM me. I try to help. Sometimes just someone else walking the walk can actually "get it!" As some have a hard time understanding why ppl arent' happy this time of yr...

@Raindrops

we decorate our tree with the various unmatched ornaments we have picked up over the years. i do however love angels and snowflakes. so the tree topper is an angel and a lot of the ornaments i have collected over the years are angles interspersed with snowflakes of various sizes.
One year, when our now almost 12 year old cat was very young all i put on it was lights.. because he kept taking a running leap at the tree and knocking it over.

@dusskfall Ur cat sounds too funny! I had a 15yr old "baby--cat" that just passed last July. Still trying to get over that as he was my first baby out of 3 of them. He used to eat the tinsel off the tree so that became a mess when I had to pull it all back off the tree...lol. Could have been very dangerous for him. So we just did un-matching ornaments from everyones memories growing up. I don't even put up a tree at the house anymore as I'm never sure where I will be. Kinda miss that being I do love decorating. Oh well.

Thx for replying! Happy Holidays To U & Urs! 😊
