Some Ideas for EggCave, I guess

Hey! I've only been on here since November, but I've learned that EggCave is a great game, but, like everything else, it has flaws. But as a community we can help improve EggCave step by step! I have some ideas of how to do just that. Sorry if any of it is offensive, they're just some ideas, and I apologize if anything has already been thought of or is currently being worked on/in EggCave.

1. Cave notifications Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's aggravated by the constant Cave notifications. What if there was a way in preferences that you could turn off Cave notifications?

2. Trades & Auctions There's not much I have to complain about trades & auctions, except for how annoying it is that you have to delete the trade to add/delete something from it. Maybe there could simply be an "edit" button, and each time you edited the trade, it was send a notification to whoever offered on the trade. It would also be helpful if the person who created the trade cannot accept offers of someone who offered until they change the offer. Same thing goes to auctions.

3. Links It's a constant and inconvenient problem when links don't work properly. If there is a typo or the website "doesn't exist," it could give a general list of what it could be. {Ex: htttps://eggcave.com/arkcity/sarc/labs = https://eggcave.com/arckcity/labs, http://eggcave.com/arkcity/labs}

4. Transferring First of all, I think there should be a way to transfer EC and CC to users without putting up a trade. It would be very useful. Secondly, I would prefer there's a way to get to transferring without having to type in a link to it on your device to get to it. It could be in the Shop bar with Trade Center and Auctions.

5. Leaf of Vaka This isn't a suggestion I just want to know what the Leaf of Vaka is.

6. Automatic Inactivity Feeding I think there should be an automatic inactivity feeding thing. Basically, to explain, if a player is inactive for over 2 days, their cove will be under some sort of "protection" thing, where their cove is automatically fed each day until they become active once more. Now, while it is encouragement to log in each day that their creatures have risks of dying, {other than immortal ones} it is still pretty disappointing and saddening when, after being inactive for a few weeks or so, they find their creatures are dead.

7. The Wall Many users have problems with people posting on their wall. What if there was a way to turn off the wall in preferences?

8. Pinging Some people really don't have interest in being pinged. For those people, it would be handy for an option in preferences to turn off pings, or, more preferably, notifications for pings?

9. The Site Blog I, myself, am a little aggravated when I go to notifications to find that there is a new site blog post, but that it isn't what some would hope for, such as instead of new creatures, updates, shops, etc., it's a new toy, or a new food. Now, I'm not saying that those aren't important, but they're not exactly things everyone looks forward to. What if, in preferences, there was a choice to turn off Site Blog posts about items, or Site Blog posts in general?

10. Editing Posts Whenever someone edits a post, I think anyone who created the main topic or anyone they pinged, or anyone who has posted on the topic should be notified about it, because it is fairly hard to notice if they do.

11. Messages I have two ideas for this. 1. What if there was an option in preferences to turn off messages or notifications for messages? 2. What if there was a way to classify the messages? {Other than what we have.} Such as, if it was a chat, if it was important, how new/late a reply was, etc.

It's still a wip, I'll add ideas every now and then if I have any.

@animalliterature You are partly right on number 5. You can get to transfers by going through your cove, clicking "Transfers" and doing stuff from there. But yeah, its been in the back of my head that there should be a thing under trades and auctions to put your transfers.

No worries, I’m always thankful for pings 😸

I’m on board with #1. Although I would keep my notifications on (I’m constantly taking advantage of the possible extra attempts, I’m glad it was added as a feature over in the past years ^^), I know that they can be bothersome to others that are just waiting for auction/trade notifications.

The other suggestions I’m a little more hesitant on, mostly #2. There have been quite a few times I either forgot a creature or part of the description and have had to redo it. While I think being able to edit the description for an active trade would be a nifty feature, it would be too risky to allow the creatures/items in the trade with current offers. If the offers aren’t automatically rejected and the lot is edited, it opens the possibility of users swapping out high value creatures for low value creatures in order to swindle a user that made an offer. If this were to be implemented, there would have to be a fail-safe in place where users that already made an offer were both notified AND had to reoffer (or reapprove their initial offer or whatever) to truly ensure they were aware of a change. Ultimately, it would be easier to just cancel the lot and put it back up (and then contact the user(s) whose offers you liked to negotiated).

#3 would be more convenient, but isn’t too pressing. Most of the different pages are accessible through the dropdowns at the top of the page (at least on desktop; I know on my phone that the drop-down options don’t appear when I’m on the site-blog page or at the Cave). I support the adding in “suggested pages” when you get an error message, but I’m not sure if it would be feasible to give specific suggestions (especially if trying to apply suggestions if you type in the wrong username/egg ID). A generic list would be helpful though.

#4 would be super convenient for users transferring EC and CC from their trading sides to their main sides, but if implemented it should be stressed that users not use it for trades (as it is currently
with creatures; while I’m all for giving others benefit of the doubt, a little pessimism here and there is needed).

I for one, don't mind the excessive cave notifications as I usually try to get as many cave attempts a day since I usually reject all the cave commons unless they are Le. But, I understand that older, more experienced eggcavers (still including newer eggcavers though) have a problem with that. But I do get a bit annoyed every time it tells me there's another notification and it turns out to be a cave attempt when I expect it to be an a Tc or Auction offer. A bit of a bummer but I can still live with it xD

For 2 and 3 though, I don't have much experience with them as I am a fairly new user and I don't really have any use of those. I've never been in a scenario where I wanted to change a trade or auction that already had people offering or bidding so I can't really help you, sorry! ☹️

For 4 though, I'm totally four it (I am so sorry) as I have always wanted to give only Ec to another user but the game wouldn't let me ☹️ If we had transfer requests but for Ec or even Cc then the game would be alot smoother for a bunch of us eggcavers

5, I have no idea aswell, so don't ask me xD

6, YES Thank you so much for suggesting this! I never really thought of it myself but that really is a great idea. I usually go on as much as I can though but when I actually can't go on, then well, that would be a Great idea. I also heard that a bunch of eggcavers go on hiatus and every time they comeback and find their beloved creatures dead, they would feel so sad :'( So yes, this would be a great improvement for those who go on holidays and stuff alot, though, you're right about the logging in everyday thing

7, That would be a big help for alot of ppl, I have a few friends that just hate hate hate their wall so they just ignore it completely, so I'm totally for it as long as it's an option obviously

8 and 9, Same thing goes for these. Everyone is different right? So if every one of these were an option than that would be so much better

2 Quick Suggestions:

Something that has always annoyed me is about the Tc (but I can't remember about the auctions xD) The thing is, every time you offer and the person seeking a trade state that they just want Ec or Cc, you always have to have to give them an item or a critter. This really annoys me as I usually forget about that and that most of my items are usually already in the strongroom and that every time I want to trade I have to get out of the trade, go to my strongroom, transfer it to my inventory and then find the trade again.
If Eggcave got rid of the need to offer an item/critter, it would be so much easier...for me, cause idk about what you think about it

One thing that I don't really like about Pm's is that, when you are on the page where you can see all your mail, you don't know which mail is with who, it only shows who replied last (which is usually me ;-; ) If it was changed so that you could actually see who's on the other end then well, that would be a big help

Opinions anyone? xD

Also, about your suggestion, EggCave felt a need for that for a reason. It can't be pure EC or CC because, well, money, in real life, isn't exactly everything either. That's just one way to put it. In other words, it's also trades, and trades are when people trade different items they have. {For example: They gave them a cow in exchange for three goats.}

Do you get it?

Because I'm talking about when you want to quickly go to a message but you don't remember which mail is for which user, it's a problem that I have to deal with every time I need to reread a Pm xD

And btw, 10 is a great idea, sometimes the person who started the whole forum that I may or may not follow would change the name and the first post and I would get so confused as I would be like when did I follow a forum called closed???

For 11 (including part 2) Yes, that is a very good idea. Though if you had the option to disable both your wall and your Pm's, then how is anyone going to contact you?
Maybe it should be like this: You can only disable one at a time

@animalliterature Oh another thing, a friend of mine is always putting all 267 of her critters into Tim's Food Shoppe and the prices are ridiculous. I for one, only have a little over 100 critters and that already costs 9000ec and a little bit! Don't you think the prices should go down a bit?
