Before you all come with your pitchforks and flaming torches, let me explain.

1. I'm not not asking for a Macbot common free-for-all. All the Macbot needs is one or two days in the Cave (or CSP), and that's it. It can even be available for, say, three hours, if this really makes you twitch.

2. There are approximately zero Macbots in circulation. Think about it. How many Macbots have you even seen? Now how many Macbots have you seen UFT? Exactly. The Macbot was only available for one (two?) day(s), and this was back in 2010 where there weren't as many users, and immortal creatures weren't a thing yet. Most Macbots are either dead, sitting in inactive accounts, or both, not to mention that the remaining Macbots are all NFT or are virtually unobtainable.

3. But what about inflation? Like I said, there are about zero Macbots available for trade. Even if the price does go down, which I find unlikely, it will go down from an insane price to a more manageable price of crazy. Don't expect Macbots to be equated to the value of a monthly. And, anyway, wouldn't you rather have a lower priced Macbot that's UFT, than a higher priced one that's sitting in one player's Cove forever?

4. But what about the players that spent their life savings and many valuable creatures for a Macbot? First of all, I'd like to say that any of these players have the right to be upset. However, I'd say that there are, maybe, five players that fit this criteria that are still playing, and I think it would be fair to say that they would like a rerelease, too.

5. When Eggcave rereleased the Foo, people went nuts! That's true, and I genuinely understand the outrage. However, the Foo was easier to get your hands on. If you see, the Foo has a higher population rank (298) than the Macbot (645), so people were actually able to spend their life savings, both their kidneys, and their first born child to trade for a Foo. However, the Macbot's population is next to creatures that don't even exist yet, and TS creatures that were released a couple months ago.

So... yeah. Feel free to think about it, vote, and voice your opinions, comments, concerns, and suggestions about this whole Macbot rerelease thing. Anything and everything is welcome!

And, no, in case you're wondering, I'm not doing this to gain riches or whatever. There are people out there who would love to have a Macbot of their very own, but are unable to, even if they have unlimited funds and creatures as rare as diamonds (yes, I'm aware diamonds aren't that rare, but ssh...).

@degong Rereleasing is such a polarizing subject, however I am among the players who is strongly in favor, especially when we're talking about creatures such as the Macbot where you can't even find one for trade. I think your points are spot on for the most part. I think ultimately what would end up happening is the Macbots with a newer release date would have a separate rarity than the originals and the rarity of the originals wouldn't be touched. It may even create a market for original release date Macbots while keeping the newer dates obtainable. This is just my opinion of course.

@degong

I personally don't really /want/ a macbot myself, but I do agree that certain creatures are insanely difficult (read: impossible) to find. Let alone find one UFT, and have it be something the average person could actually afford.

We need to have highly controlled re-releases as to not destroy the market and bring some creatures back down to earth. (Macbot, Doovoo, Pixgog, Onny to list a few.)

I stand by my idea of a yearly Christmas 'Dream Creature' raffle, with maybe 3-10 winners each getting one egg. Heavily inspired by the Dream Pet Giveaway on Neopets, every user can enter and list ONE creature they would love to have. On Christmas day the winners are announced and receive their creature. There would be so few of X creature being released into the market (and many likely in their forever home) that it likely wouldn't even touch the values, but still allow people to get their unobtainable dream creatures.

@degong I'm strongly against the idea of rereleases, especially for creatures of this rarity; you've mentioned one of my reason in your fourth point. This isn't some cheap 20 dollar creature; collectors have spent several hundreds of dollars for them (I think, since the onny recently sold for 80kcc ~800 USD). After a quick CSP rerelease, the price will drop to such a tiny fraction of it's previous price it would be pretty much worthless. I would be absolutely livid if I spent a thousand bucks on something and it all of a sudden becomes available to everyone for some 5 bucks.

Also, I think it's nice to have a super rare creature that only a few players have. It really adds to the thrill of collecting.
If the rerelease they Macbot, then where will rereleases stop? I think eggcave should just stick to their original definition of "retired", since rereleasing is essentially lying to the community.

@chiroptera

Not trying to start an argument, but I'm curious on what you think of non-cash shop rereleases? For example a contest or a raffle.

@degong

I don't really know how I feel about the idea of a Macbot/Doovoo, ect. rerelease. 😋
I mean, on the one hand, I would like to get one of each, BUT half of the reason I want one is because they are so rare. :l
If they weren't as rare, I wouldn't want one as much. Also, like @chiroptera said, an onny was sold for 80-85K CC, which is a HECK ton of money value in RL. While I'm sure some of that CC was made by selling older CSPs, most would have probably come from Money. And being a Doovoo (close in value to macbot) was traded for an onny + tine + other old CSPs, people who do have a Macbot would be very very upset that they had spent so much creatures/CC on it.
Granted, some bought the macbot/doovoo when they were out, and never traded it. But it makes it more special to that user.

I feel that it is cool that we currently have the yearly 500cc CSP re release at the end of the year. I know some wish there was an early warning, as people spend more CC buying earlier in the year pets, but I think it was a great move! 😊
I think that re releasing anything other than the current year's CSP at the end of the year should be handled VERY delicately.
Something such as a 1 hour or less random time each year to buy 1 random CSP from a specific timeline *might* work, but there will be more issues there because some players will be angry that they didn't know the random time (whole point of it) or that they arn't on enough.

I don't think there will be a really big rush to find a solution to the whole re-release topic; which is a good thing, it should be thought over carefully.

@raccoon I don't understand what you mean exactly, but I believe any creatures that currently have the "retired" tag shouldn't be available again.
