3 eggs = 500cc x 3 = 1500 = $15
2 stars = 100cc x 2 = 200 = $2

And you still have 100 cc left? Wow. I want to be you when I'm shopping! xD

You all raise some good points and I am enjoying listening to all of the opinions posted; many of them are very true. However, please also consider it from another perspective as well. Running a site isn't free and I'd imagine that the hosting bill alone costs somewhere in the 1000-2000+ dollars per year range that combined with artist fees and other expenses make the site difficicult to run. CC pays for about half of what this site needs to run and my guess is that only 1-3 dollars a day are made off of ads.

Does that mean that things shouldn't change? Of course not. The balance between cave and CC has been something that will continually need to be adjusted and can always be improved. Without CC, the site would not be here today but Ian, and the rest of the staff, recognize that there needs to be a balance. The site is still relatively young and has a lot of room (and potential!) to grow.

Also, a comment was made that Ian is not active anymore. He may not always come and interact with everyone on the forums but he does log in several times a day and is working on some really cool stuff for you guys. That is why he hired the moderating team. This way he can focus on on the "big picture" stuff and we can take care of the "day-to-day." (Cheers if you got the The Office reference, haha.)

In short, it's still a work of progress and we welcome your patience as well as your opinions. We love to hear from you guys. 😊

That CC pays for the hosting I get and totally understand. However I wonder how many users actually have bought CC these past two months.
Let's just assume someone bought the three October monthlies + the three September ones + maybe four freezes/month.
What does that add up to? 6 x 500 + 8 x 250 = 5000 cc = $50

Okay, so let's say there are 30 "someones" out there that bought the same thing. Then we suddenly have 1500 dollars in only two months. There must have been more freezes and eggs than that bought in the last two months with 35 000+ users and that adds up to quite a lot of money...

Of course there's nothing wrong with that and me always "ranting" about things being too expensive isn't the same thing as saying things shouldn't cost anything at all. I just wish some things like the freezes could and should be cheaper. If they were I think people would buy _more_ freezes in the long run. 😊

Well, I think that maybe if CC is reduced - $2.50 for a creature, $1 for a freeze - more people will buy it in bulk, since they think they're getting a better deal. And pixels don't cost any money to get, so @ian gets more money and we get the better deal 😉

@silverserpent @celeste You guys raise good points and I'll be sure to direct Ian's attention to this next time we speak. My post's main purpose was to provide a little background as to why CC is set up the way it is now. as aforementioned above, it isn't a perfect system and we are actively working on improving it. Your suggestions (and rants, haha) are NOT going unnoticed. 😊

Please continue to share any ideas for activities or changes that could improve the EC climate and community. (Or create another topic if it's a large one 😋)

It really doesn't take that much money to run a website especially with adds.

CC is money in the pocket. 😉 Very good gig too, considering how many freezes stars and eggs are bought each month.

I have to agree with @silverserpent ... I know that so far last month I bought 4 eggies and quite a few freezes and for sure spent $50....and I just added another $25 again and will probably do so again before the end of this month.
With all the people who spend like I have, about $50 a month, that does pay for the things you spoke about. But I am sure there are more than 30 members buying the monthlies and freezes.

I also agree with the cost coming down 😊

What about to that those that have like a 'gagillion' EC's being able to purchase CC's somehow?
That helps those that are unable to spend the money for the CC's.

@zac Yeah, I am very careful around the subject, my parents own a site also. Yes, it is expensive so I get these things.

But I think there are improvements to be made, and I think Ian should be aware that users are dropping like dead flies because the lack of entertainment on eggcave. As well, there are new people joining to even that out but only 1/8 of those new people possibly stay on for over a month. Big investors drop, and the future investors aren't sold on eggcave because they simply dislike it because they can't trade, or make friends, or do whatever. That is why this whole things is so dang difficult. So many factors. Tisk tisk.

I do understand why CC is needed. Just saying. I run a website of my own though not as big as EC of course. x)

While I'm at it: I would LOVE if freezes could be bought for EC. Sure, It could be a HUGE amount of EC, but then I'd go nuts and feed like crazy everyday instead of chewing on my keyboard out of frustration when I can't finding anyone I can bribe/nag/stalk/cry into trading me a freeze. xD

Now I'm going to bed because it's soon 5 am here and I need my beauty(boahah)sleep. G'night everyone! 8D

I always loved eggcave for good users feedback. And I think that people just want to hear more from Ian - to feel his presence Many would be very happy just to hear what you stated - that he is working on something ,because now some people just feel kind of left alone.
We really need to balance -something need to be done before its too late.( @silverserpent feeling bird of doom now too)
and I agree completely with @balletninja @dustypinkdragon @silverserpent and others *pokes her topic for all ideas*
I don't want to whine but some users like Me are paying even more - I pay 3x - from 25$ to 75$ and this is a pain ;/.
If @Ian is working on improving things I am very happy person and I will be even more when he finish - because I really don't want to see my friends just go ☹️. And your right site is new and have amazing potential so don't let it go ^^.
