New here, some questions

Hello everyone! new here, wanted to ask a few questions.
First of all, what are quests and how do i get them? cant find anything in the help page
Second, is there another way to verify a main account without a phone number? and are there any places I can't go if my account is neither a side nor a main account?
Third, how many ways are there to get CC?
And finally, what is XC?

Quests refer to the Vend Machine quests for tokens (https://eggcave.com/quests/tokens).
You successfully collect tokens if you have the items on hand for the quests, which is harder for a new player since you've just started here. However, we do have this forum for item exchange: https://eggcave.com/forums/topic/70055

I don't think you can verify a main account w/o a phone number, we can wait for one of the moderators to answer @mastergemma

But if you don't verify, you just can't access Monthly Challenge (which gives this site's premium currency - 100 Cash Cave for fulfilling Dailies for 25 days. If you don't verify, I don't know if this affects events like obtaining EggCave's Anniversary Gift or the Advent Calender in December.

You can pay to get CC at the Cash Shop, or wait for site events to get some or exchange with another player at 1 million EC: 100 CC or creatures with equivalent value (not cave commons like Tasma, Floicol, etc..).

XC is the Click Exchange, it's basically for you to raise creatures and gain stats from other users. (https://eggcave.com/exchange)

Edit: A tip is to go to Dragold's Den- it runs until the 31st March, you can get a chance to obtain seasonal eggs (one very sought out now is the Esoclyn: goes for around 150 CC or 1.5M EC currently) or get your EC robbed from you.

If you only have one account then that account will, by default, be your main account. It just isn't a verified main account without having 2 factor authentication set up. There is no other way to verify your account unless you choose to get an online phone number which I don't have any knowledge about. When you do verify your account, you get access to the daily quests which if you complete enough days in a month, you get 100 CC. You can also vote for the next month's CC rereleases.

Here is some information about the VEND quests if you have any questions about that. Sometimes it can be confusing between the daily quests and the VEND quests.
