I know I've mentioned it Once or Twice somewhere, but a 'Funny Little Habit' I have here on EggCave is one I do Often when it comes to Feeding Large Coves - I try to make a Game out of it πSo, what I do is I Scroll all the way down to the Bottom of a "Feed Friendly Cove," click the Very Last Last Beastie, Scroll up 4 or 5 times on my Mouse, click another Creature, Rinse and repeat until I get to the top of their Cove.If you've got a Mouse like mine, clicking the Scrolly-Bit opens a new Tab - What I do then is work through those newly open Tabs, Feeding the Beastie I've Selected, then feeding the next few Creatures until I reach '50' (So if a Cove has 150 Creatures and the Beastie I clicked is number 75, I will Feed the next 25 Creatures until I reach 100 - or go in Reverse until I reach the 50th Beastie)It's a Silly bit of Fun, but I find it helps break up the Monotony of Feeding Huge Coves π

Lore: I *had* stories for each and every one of my Ookles (but brain fog robbed me of them before i could type most of them out) most of them were part of the same linear story and flock. The exception was one that was meant to be my nearly permanent profile creature - it existed out of space & time itself. But the flock... was a persnickety bunch, all with their own dynamics. And as feisty as they are as a species it could be hard to navigate. But they were also close and drawn to be a communal species. A couple were adopted in. Either young, or by romantic relationships. Even had a romeo & juliet type situation. And then there was the rare shy outlier who preferred solitude... but yet was one of the most fierce of the flock.(meant to have the stories written out if I ever got around to making a showcase Tab, and include them in it.- Showcase has not come into existence yet : /)And in my mind there was a whole lore for the society of Skrutes. It was so vivid I saw it play out in cartoon style in my head some days and even dreampt about it. I had character names I wanted to name some after (as rare as they are on the site by the time I even got one I had forgotten the names.) (Why self why?! I didn't write any of it down even off-site. Which it would have needed to be... half the stuff was too gruesome for here.) But at the time it meant soooooo much to me.Habit:I noticed there are many times I'll go to feed a cove (any of them) and people only the first few, half, etc is fed, or the very last 1 - 3 are missed. So I got in the habit of starting from the end of a cove. But now I've fed that way for so long my brain has a hard time coping on the rare times I want to start from the top (running out of time before rollover, large cove, hungry creatures, and I know they're more hungry near the beginning.) So if there are only certain eggs that need to be fed I'll mess up and click on the wrong ones no matter how hard I try to get it right. Takes at least three times as long for me feeding from the top if I want to feed the correct ones.I would like to invite @pet_cemetery to share lore on the Hntyrrh. (I hope that's okay).I found the little blurb in the blog post intriguing : )

@snowywinter Absolutely No problem on the Invites Mate ππI've literally started keeping Post-it Notes by me at the Table just incase something that I could use for Lore/Something Inspiring Pops into my head - Although a lot of it for me happens Spontaneously, so I'm literally there just Updating a Creature Profile that it 'Reached Stage 3 on Whatever Day' and I suddenly lose myself in a good half hour of Background Story Writing π π

@snowywinter sure, I don't mindThe Hntyrrh isn't what it seems. The same day it was released four creatures- four long live, well love creatures disappeared from the cove. Poof... Gone without rhythm or reason. Then this thing left the cave and slinked to astroid. Suddenly another creature is retired- this time from the astroid. Another long lived creature. You probably think ok, they were old they were just retired but usually only one or two are retired at a time. That was five within a short amount of time. Then you look at the description.________________________the info statesAbout Hntyrrh EggsThe grotesquely large stature of Hntyrrh eggs perfectly encapsulates the fully-developed creature within. Perforating the thick, leathery flesh of these eggs will bleed a caustic yellowish-green substance that eats through most materials almost instantly. An unsettlingly spacious, seemingly non-Euclidean chamber of The Cave, hidden very deep amidst the impossible geometry of its twisting tunnels, was stumbled upon by an ill-fated caving crew that discovered hundreds of undisturbed Hntyrrh eggs. The resultant rescue operation grimly revealed these eggs to have since hatched.About the Hntyrrh CreatureThe Hntyrrh, so named for a malevolent entity in Naharian mythology told to fatally frighten those who venture too far outside village limits, was first described by locals when a solitary individual was found prowling the outskirts of Naharia and its surrounding forests to hunt worthwhile prey.An unapologetically hostile species that mostly comes out at night, the Hntyrrh relentlessly pursues prey to the brink of extinction for sport. Dense muscles, corrosive blood, shredding claws, piercing tail, tremendous bite force, and keen senses coalesce into a brutally efficient organism. The abrupt appearance of the Hntyrrh and its excessive predation upon Arkian wildlife have prompted immediate research and containment efforts helmed by the Science and Research Centerβs auxiliary branch in Faela City, in tandem with Ark Cityβs Dr. Roswell.________________Someone messed up, woke these things from hibernation and now they're systemically wiping out all the other species.... For fun. They want to shove them in a box and be done with it, thinking that will contain them. We can't reason with them. We can't study them. We need to take them out like we did with the Pareteorsite Queen before they wipe out everything and everyone. Once they get bored with the Ark species they will come after us. The Arkians. They will hunt us in the night. Silent. Vicious. Leaving nothing left by dawn. They already did away with the team that found them. They have a taste for us. They're bidding their time, trying to figure if we're worthwhile to hunt. If we would be entertaining prey. That's why they've left themselves get adopted. To get close to us, to our coves. They can hunt at their leisure without anyone the wiser. They can watch the one that rules the cove, send messages back to the hive. This isn't a discovery..... it's an invasion. Alone we don't stand a chance. We need to act now.

@pet_cemeteryWoah! O.O! You have me convinced! (I mean, you did already ^^)But now I'm thinking we totally need a plot-event/community project. It got me to thinking before bed, what *if* we were able to convince everyone to yeet their Hntyrrhs into a cove to die off? (I know, some people wouldn't get the message, or would take pride in having an even more rare creature) ...Could we convince Ian to give us back the species it hunted to the brink of extinction IF we could annihilate every single Hntyrrh?...but then I realized it's a moot point. ...The Hntyrrhs are going to come back every year >.<But in and of itself your theory deserves to at least be "official" fannon *decisive nod* and I really hope something sitewide is brewing.(side note... I have a couple that have 404 either in their catch URL and perm Url... and my head cannon for them are that they're a bit derpy. Not completely harmless, but not good at hunting either. What *iffff* it was discovered somehow they had defective DNA for their species and in taking them to the SARC the scientists found that vulnerability and they were able to sequence something that makes the species less effective and helps save Ark?Purely side story, non-official. But still an interesting turn.)

@Pet_Cemetery What can I say? I Absolutely Loved Reading that! I don't know about you, but when I read things, I can actually Imagine a little bit of the Story playing out in my mind - I would Very Much Love to see something Expand from that if the opportunity presented itself - Perhaps a Halloween Plot? I've not been around here to see what happens during Halloween Events, but I could easily imagine these Beasties, now they've been 'Innocently' assimilated into Arkian Life suddenly 'Receiving that Sign' and Taking whatever Pre-determined action was Ordered of them. ππI also Really Enjoy Unofficial Plotlines - Especially the 'Derpy' Hunters ππ I Love the idea of the 404's or those being slightly 'Quirky' actually being somewhat incapable of carrying out their Orders, or even those preferring their Arkian Lifestyle and rising up against those who wish to do their Cove-Keeper's Harm ππI really want to see that Happen now hehe π€ππ(Apologies for all the Green Hearts, it seems to be one of those Days) π€£

@lexian I'm actually really grateful for you making this thread. just the other day I was wishing (again) that we had a fan-zine here with stories about the goings-on on Ark (especially when pet-cemetary's idea came up in the blog)... but I am definitely way too frazzled/busy/doy? to head up something so ambitious any time soon. So this thread popping up was a nice little way to let out some of that with low pressure. ^^The other day I remembered an old habit I used to have that I carried over from another site and I haven't done it in years. But whenever there was a (currently available) creature I'd want I'd make up a poem/haiku about it and post it at the end of a DM or thread post.(On the other site there were random events we'd hope for and a lot of people used a couple standard poems for it, but I liked to get creative. Really put my heart into each one.)One of the few superstitions I liked to believe in. In the very least it was fun.
lexian • 6 August 2026 at 5:34 AM
@snowywinter Absolutely No problem Mate - You're more than welcome to release some of that Creative Energy - I'd certainly love to learn about/see People's Poems and Haikus - I think that might have been part of the idea of this Thread, letting folks get out that Creative Burst and then it's here to come back to rather than like me with my scattered Post-it-Notes which get lost, they'd have something here they can come back to π - I actually wish I'd made this when I posted about the 'Lore of the Ott and the Brohu' because it seems to have been swallowed up by other posts/threads - I might even repost it here π (Infact, I'll copy and paste it as my next post - Might even Get @Elijah to share it lol)I've edited the "How it Works" part of my first post to hopefully give folks a little more Creative Leeway - So if someone wanted to expand into 'Fan-Lore' like what I will be posting down below, they can (If the Official Peoples happen to see it and think 'Ooh! that might be nice to implement' then they will Hopefully take that up quietly with the writer - with full Credits of course!) but here it's just for a bit of fun/getting those Creative Notes down someplace you can skip back to π
snowywinter • 6 August 2026 at 4:35 PM
I mean, there's the "Fan Art" that stories and lore could go in... but that just seems like the ideas should be more polished... or cohesive at least. More fleshed out. Here we can discuss little blurbs at random ^^ < 3"Ooh, ooh, ohhhhhh! I have this idea..." *fizzles out half way through developing.**points at Lexian's thread* Totally the place to share : DOnce there was a Skrute from Naharia, born of a different place.Ever did he wander, not looking for glory or riches galore, but traveling with grace.(totally made up on the spot just now - 6 Aug 20264:30 - 4:35 PM)
lexian • 6 August 2026 at 4:49 PM
I Love it! ππExactly! We could always help polish or flesh out those Lore bits if folks wanted to anyways πI didn't realise I posted my little 'Lore' thing all the way back in May π² - I'll post it below (Never sure what Folks would think - it certainly didn't seem to get 'Much Interest' but always worth a reshare) π
snowywinter • 6 August 2026 at 6:24 PM
@lexianAwwww : (That is soooooooo sad... I'm actually tearing up...But creatively it is sooooo good! I absolutely believe that could have happened. When comparing the stages it really does look like a story unfolded. (I'd like to think it was just between two individuals, and the whole species isn't doomed to repeat the cycle.)
lexian • 7 August 2026 at 11:27 AM
π«I'd definitely like to think it's just for the Two - Like you said, I wouldn't want to Doom both species haha π€£Maybe if I can ever bring myself to get an Ott I might replicate that story/Lore in my Own Cove - I'm reluctant though because that Poor 4th Stage Ott looks soo Sad and I'd just wanna try and Cheer it up ππ«π π
elijah • 12 August 2026 at 11:17 AM
Another little Habit of mine is when one of my Beasties reaches their Final Stage, I generally like to move them over to @lockhart so they can live Safe and Protected by the Valka Leaf I have there, but at the same time, I find I'm reluctant to send them over Immediately - I tend to wait until there are at least 2 Creatures levelled up so that they can 'Travel Together' - I know it's Silly, but I think it's Nice that they're not being sent anywhere Alone... π πΎ
snowywinter • 12 August 2026 at 6:36 PM
Awww @elijah, that is so sweet! having them travel with someone they're familiar with. That way they're not among all strangers when they are meeting a bunch of new creatures. Or would it be reuniting with old friends? Dunno, but at any rate it can be overwhelming being the new one... even if it's just arriving to a party where you know everyone.(inner thoughts... "Safety in numbers" ..."yeah, but Ark is pretty safe..." "yeah, but there are predators..." "Oh my gosh, now with the Hntyrrhs lurking about! *gasp* *nod* Definitely a good idea not to travel alone.")(that after an interlude about boring mundane habits like having to store EC in the Bank in units of 5k or 10k, or buying Cove and Shop spaces in units of 10.Then remembering I had been about to post something, and circling back.)
elijah • 13 August 2026 at 8:52 AM
@snowywinter Now that you've said it, I think I'd like to Imagine them perhaps 'Reuniting with Old Friends'βΊοΈπ Everyone reaches their '4th Level at different times, so when they're ready, they get to 'Take a Trip' to Lockhart's Cove which helps to Free up Space for New Friends - So I think it's a Really Sweet Thought and I might add that to my Cove Lore hehe - but as you also Quite Rightly mentioned, it would also be much 'Safer' to have a Travel-Buddy, what with those Hunters Around! π«£π (I Still think it's a Great Set-Up for Halloween!) πI don't think they're necessarily 'Boring' or 'Mundane' Habits as on my Main Account I like to try and 'Even' the Numbers out - So if I've got 123456 EC in my Bank, I'll try and add up the Numbers backwards so that I get an Even Number (so, I start with 4 to make it '60,' then I do the 40 to make it 100, 500 to make it 1000 and so on - but it doesn't always work out because I inevitably end up with 200100 EC because I can't always add up right) π€£π Apologies if I've Pickled anyone's Brain, but it's one of the Quirky little things my Mind likes to do lol π
lexian • 13 August 2026 at 9:30 AM
I'm currently on a 'Month-Long Hunt' for Farlots for @Kataclysm and although I've looked at both Beasties Side-By-Side and they look Very Different, I've found it incredibly difficult 'Not' to accidently pick up Yazans instead! (I've clicked at least 2!)I'd like to think we're both beginning to wonder if there isn't some Connection between the pair - Mayhaps we can create some Lore behind them somehow? I've Never had this problem Collecting Beasties before! π€π€£π

One other thing I've noticed about myself on here is that when I'm on my Main Account (@Lexian (Hopefully I don't get in trouble for posting on my Side so I can keep Sharing Stories..π€π)) taking part in the 'Feed-Games' - or if I'm in the Click Exchange and see a Username I recognise as a 'Feed-Friendly' Cove, I find myself clicking through a good 100 if not their Whole Cove if they've got less π (I've also recently created a Whole Feed List on one of my Creatures - Don't have the Ability to click Soo Many, but if another ' Double Feed Day' comes along, I've got a Huge List of Coves to work through) π€£πͺ
