When Anastasia woke up she was in a dark room with only a small crack of light coming from outside. She shivered. It was as if someone had shot a ice dart into her neck. The confused girl wished she was like a Artic wolf who could withstand up to -50 degrees. Almost instantly she was warmer. She looked at her body. It was covered in white fur. She was a Artic Fox. She almost screamed but she kept it in because there was a conversation going on outside and she wanted to listen in.

Mom's car swerved, the tires screeching against the slick black road. Droplets of rain splashed up against the window, and nobody could see a thing. Everything happened too quickly. I could see that pole coming towards us, and then my screams were muffled by the airbags.I pushed them aside and squirmed out from the air bags.

"Mom? Kylie? Matt?"

I shrieked, my voice frantic and quavering. My vision was blurring, becoming clear and then hazy again, like a fog, determined to hide the massacre from me. I could see the blood streaming out of them. I had to get out of that car. I had to escape.

I opened the car door and ran out in the street, my hair soaking wet and sticking to my head.

"Help me! Please! Help us!"

I cried out, and then I saw those red droplets swirling around me, enveloping me in their rage, like the blood in the car I was trying to escape from...

"Ugh!" Mud stained the shoes I took from the store. The ground was slippery and thick and I could hear them behind me. The last time I saw them, they were walking slow while I was running. I knew I had ditched them when I hit the dense trees, but I could still hear their foot steps.

I looked behind me, but the rain blurred my vision. Before I knew it, I had a hit a tree and was lying on the ground, propped on one elbow. When I looked up, I see no tree, but a tall figure in a soaked suit. I scream as loud as possible and make my hand to a fist, thinking only of home.

He lowered to clutch me in his arms, as if comforting me, but no. That wasn't his job. I scream right in his face, eyes closed, making his step back, and I'm gone from this area.

I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I wanted to shout. But I sat there, in the middle of the rain-slick street, sobbing. My eyes burned and I was freezing, but I couldn't go anywhere. My family was dead, and I had nowhere to go. Katryna Song, orphan. Funny thing about my name now that I had thought about it- my family was killed by a storm, and my extended family had all died in Hurricane Katrina.

"Why ME!?"

I screamed, and thunder crackled. A bolt of lightning came down onto a nearby tree and I shrieked. It was like God, or whoever was controlling this terror, was desperately trying to make my life as miserable as possible.

Shallow puddles littered the road, reminding me of times as a child, when I would stomp around joyfully, unaware of the despair and disease that spread throughout the world. I stomped in a nearby puddle, water splashing up in my face. But what did I just see? Tiny bolts of electricity ran throughout the puddle I stomped in before fading away.

"No... no... I'm a freak too? What more do you want to do to me?!"

I screamed at the sky, tears mixing with the dirt and rain that streaked my face.

" I won't" she said. It reminded her how she got her powers. Everytime when she looked at someone, everytime when she wanted something, she would look at them and make that person do it. It was hypnotizing.

A few months ago, she made eye contact with her best friend. Their gaze locked. Annibelle didn't notice and she was talking about mean people. When she looked away, her friend...changed. Her only friend. At first, she thought that it was a curse. Slowly, she made use of her talent.

I'm on my feet in the new area. I'm miles from the trees but I'm on an open road. A car is in front of, banged up and scrunched. I've fallen on my knees and hands when I notice this other girl, screaming to nothingness. "Wha-What?" I say to myself. Surely she can't hear me. "Hey...stop that screaming!" I say louder. I get up and walk slowly to her.

Even from miles away, I can see that black soaked suit emerging from the mouth of the woods. "Stop!"

I hear somebody yelling to me. Help? I turn my head towards the shape in the distance, my eyes full of desperate hope. She was telling me to stop screaming? I didn't have to listen to her. I don't have to listen to anybody anymore. I'm an orphan.

"I don't care what you say! I can scream, I don't need to do anything anybody says! My family is dead. I'm alone now, so just go away!"

I scream, pushing my hair out of my eyes. I was suddenly staring at the car they were stuck in, perhaps already rotting. The car was crumpled like a useless idea on an old sheet of paper. Like a tin can, like... trash.

'I-I could trust her right..? S-She promised not to tell..... but.. that's what they all do...' Her sadness broke through as her pupils dropped to eye the floor. 'That's what they all say. They say they want to help you but... in return they just hurt you..' Silic brushed past the girl as fast as she could and ran towards her house. 'N-No... I can't trust anyone... they'll just... hurt you.'

Out of impulse, I close my hands because of a feeling, someone's behind me. I'm gone one moment and standing closer to the girl in one more second.

Close enough, the man in the soaked suit is striding up the road to me. I still can't see his face, but I'm sure its irritated because I made his partially deaf with my screams.

I'm breathing hard now, trying to avoid my fear, but it surfaces. How pathetic am I? Running from a man when I can easily grab him, travel, deposit him, and keep him stranded there. But I'm too tired to.

I say bitterly. I jerk my head away from the wreck, wet hair whipping across my face. I took in the pain slowly, welcoming it. I deserved it, anyway. I didn't care anymore. Freak of nature. I sighed ebulliently, a cloud of irritation creating a fog in front of me.

I was about to say something, but there was a man chasing me. Was he one of the THEY? I didn't have time to think as my legs took me across the damp grass. My legs trembled and my teeth chattered. Was that fear or the cold that stung my bones?
