Forum Rules Page

November 8, 2011 at 4:36 PM

We've recently put together an easy-to-read page of Forum Rules. These are rules that specifically apply to Egg Cave and its forums. This link is posted at the top of the Forums.

We thought we'd put together this page to clear up any confusion regarding what is and is not allowed on the forums. Whilst the Terms are still the law of the land, the Forum Rules are much easier to follow. Ultimately, these guidelines are in place to make sure that Egg Cave remains safe and enjoyable for everybody! Thanks! :)

Thanks Ian 😊

Zac • 8 Nov 2011, 4:42 PM

Please keep in mind that these rules also apply elsewhere on the site. 😊 Comments should FURTHER discussion and be relevant to the topic.

nanami • 8 Nov 2011, 4:42 PM

@spenser_dog_123 & luv have you really read the rules ? ^^

luv • 8 Nov 2011, 4:44 PM

@nanami yes, I know, just wanted to be second. On my other site there is an edit button, forgot there wasn't one here. Read and agree.

Orderedchaos • 8 Nov 2011, 4:45 PM

Yes! Finally forum rules!

Ian • 8 Nov 2011, 4:45 PM

Also, let's keep "FIRST COMMENT" blog comments to a minimum 😊 they're spammy, even though it's cool to be first.

mich • 8 Nov 2011, 4:45 PM

interesting...

taffy789 • 8 Nov 2011, 4:46 PM

Hmm.. No more bumps. 😱

spenser_dog_123 • 8 Nov 2011, 4:47 PM

@nanami I just did ^^ @ Ian sorry about dat 😋 But thanks for these rules!

Orderedchaos • 8 Nov 2011, 4:47 PM

Thank you so much for making excessive chat speak against the rules. Reading that stuff makes me want to hurt people and gives me a headache

mich • 8 Nov 2011, 4:47 PM

ellen gives a lot of freezes but NEVER stole a creature

Zac • 8 Nov 2011, 4:56 PM

@mich Many users are trustworthy. However, there is a small number of users who DO steal creatures. It's just a reminder to be careful. 😊

Orderedchaos • 8 Nov 2011, 4:56 PM

@Zac I'll ask you since you seem to be online now. How do you feel about blog posts that just say "Hello", "dead blog" and similar things?

Orderedchaos • 8 Nov 2011, 4:56 PM

Should they be reported as spam or not?

plookle • 8 Nov 2011, 4:57 PM

About time these were drawn up. 😊

spenser_dog_123 • 8 Nov 2011, 5:00 PM

@Ian @Zac I think thinks that may make others feel bad, like death, should be on the rules, too.

2elle2 • 8 Nov 2011, 5:02 PM

This is easy to understand. 😊

glados • 8 Nov 2011, 5:25 PM

Awh, my topics will die without bumps. But I agree, a short message or something with the bump will be useful. c: I gotta stop bumping. xD

rabbitwanter • 8 Nov 2011, 5:31 PM

...yay? x'D

balletninja • 8 Nov 2011, 5:31 PM

Some of these are mood breakers ☹️ I like excessive smiles and it is not like it hurts anyone. Some of these are good, but I dislike a few.

rabbitwanter • 8 Nov 2011, 5:34 PM

Excessive chat speak ? please use proper English for the sake of everyone's sanity!??? UGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH I JUST DIED FROM THIS RULE... >.<☹️

balletninja • 8 Nov 2011, 5:36 PM

Yeah. I mean, yeah. Gonna be honest even though I didn't do most of those like ever, this still bums me out. Sounds like too many rules.

Orderedchaos • 8 Nov 2011, 5:37 PM

This is actually relatively few rules compared to the majority of forums out there.

pizza5pizza5 • 8 Nov 2011, 5:53 PM

Wow. Its going to be hard not to bump. And like @balletninja says executive smilies never hurt anyone.

brookie • 8 Nov 2011, 5:58 PM

I like this. Bumps can be stupid because they just fill up the livepulse. 😋

joy • 8 Nov 2011, 6:04 PM

Thank you for adding these rules, they were much needed. The forums will be more enjoyable now. 😊

brookie • 8 Nov 2011, 6:08 PM

Although some are a bit harsh, it's nice to use exclamation points and smilies/:

kagirl21 • 8 Nov 2011, 6:08 PM

Thanks 😊

Zac • 8 Nov 2011, 6:15 PM

We're not outlawing the use of smilies. 😋 Just please don't have posts that contain ONLY emoticons.

Zac • 8 Nov 2011, 6:16 PM

As a general rule, ask yourself: does my post further the discussion and/or provide insight? If no, try rewriting it so that it does.

hai • 8 Nov 2011, 6:17 PM

Thank goodness! 😱 Finally the spammy "bumps" are gone! 😊

Zac • 8 Nov 2011, 6:17 PM

(sorry for all the posts) But, I'd like to say that these are BIG changes, so we'll be a lenient as you guys ease into the new rules.

dreamer • 8 Nov 2011, 6:21 PM

I don't understand how bumping hurts anyone if it's not overused, it's helpful. Chat speak is okay to me, as long as people can still-

dreamer • 8 Nov 2011, 6:22 PM

-understand it. And going off topic a bit doesn't seem like a problem, if a couple people are in a forum together and they lsowly ease to a-

rosey77 • 8 Nov 2011, 6:22 PM

Bumping isn't aloud? Weird.. :/

dreamer • 8 Nov 2011, 6:22 PM

-new subject, you know what I mean? So like everyone else, I'm not entirely happy aobut every single rule. :/

rosey77 • 8 Nov 2011, 6:26 PM

"Crap" is allowed? LOL. xD

Orderedchaos • 8 Nov 2011, 6:32 PM

@rosey77 Well it is pretty harmless as far as swear words go.

whitefall • 8 Nov 2011, 6:40 PM

Yes! No bumping! (: /happy it's annoying, and I started doing it because it rubbed off on me. >_<

candy_girl_1298 • 8 Nov 2011, 6:49 PM

good😊 easy forum rules! @dreamer if you want to go off topic then make a new one, there is always one person who doesnt, so you shouold res

candy_girl_1298 • 8 Nov 2011, 6:51 PM

pect them. personally i think the rules are ok. obviously there are a few i dont agree with, but we cant satisfy everyone!

balletninja • 8 Nov 2011, 6:58 PM

Well in roleplays when you need to make two parts, and someone bumps it for you to write, it is useful.

plookle • 8 Nov 2011, 7:00 PM

But there are always other ways to go about that other than simply writing 'bump'. You could comment on their writing so far, or make a

plookle • 8 Nov 2011, 7:01 PM

suggestion, or even contribute a bit in between. All of this would add something to the forum, where a simple 'bump' does not.

balletninja • 8 Nov 2011, 7:12 PM

I think that is reasonable, except I like to know the whole stpry before I judge.

balletninja • 8 Nov 2011, 7:15 PM

Sorry for my typo. I am on my phone... If only I could use chatspeak to make it easier on my poor keyboard! (Don't worry I am joking.)

thursdays_dove • 8 Nov 2011, 7:18 PM

Good to know! haha

crowvict • 8 Nov 2011, 7:18 PM

Hmmm, I like the new page for the form rules, they are quite useful^^ Hehe have to remember to not bump ever again. thanks for the rules 😋

balletninja • 8 Nov 2011, 7:33 PM

@ICICLE_9510 YESSSS! I TOTALLY REMEMBER THAT!

taffy789 • 8 Nov 2011, 7:49 PM

I think that's were they got it from.... That was sad. Life is sad. D: *Cries in corner*
