It does matter. If you were trading on how cute it creature was, then it would be equal. But on rarity, there are more '11 Foos then '9. Also The rarity of foos dropped in general because there are more.

People are really going to quit over pixelated pets simply because the "rares" they traded for were re-released? People are more childish than I thought.

In the end it depends on the person. Let whoever cares, care. Personally the years do not matter for me. The image is the same. But for others the older the better a creature is, has more worth to them. 😉 That's why if you get involved with trading trade with those with the same opinions of the creature's worth as yours.

Also if the creature is older, the owner has more bonds, so it is worth more to them. ^.^

Why are people trading '11 for '09? Why does it really matter?
They ARE less rare since there are more, but that doesn't make them equal to a Flaren or somethin' like that -_-

may I be absolutely honest in all this, there are just some creatures that should have never been created because they are not worth having their quality it not good and I just don't want them, the older ones are fantastic and are good, it's like you want more out so you don't care about quality, but quatity. I'd go back to quality any day. I love the CC Christmas creatures they are beautiful, but the cove creatures are of less quality except for Bessy maybe. Same with some of the others you find. Therefore you have to decide what to you is worth more and what you are willing to trade.

I think it does make a difference, just because people thought they would never come back after '09, but they did, and having them suddenly available in the Cave dropped their rarity, so it's kinda unfair to the peeps who got theirs from '09. Like me, except I traded for him.

09 foo's are worth more than 11' foo's.
Just like ORIGINAL balrogs are worth more than the fake ones.
Just like the 3 original rhinedorfs are worth more.
There were only 400something original balrogs so those are super rare.

i mean if anything it may have gone down a teeny tiny bit, but the rarity in the archives is the same and Ian said so himself that the rarity should not change. PLus since it was Xmas, a lot of people werent online

I really don't think the years' different matters. It's the same species and they don't look any different. Only it says when it was stolen.
