"Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way." the Five sighed, flipping over the rest of the poker cards."Playing for favors seems interesting..." He glanced from the cards on the table, and back to his own hand, blinking. "...We can start after this round." He said hurriedly, and started to place the cards back into the deck."...If we're actually going to bet something valuable, we should play regular poker- it has more betting rounds." Zach slowly shuffled the cards, getting annoyed at his growing lethargy.Knowing Raven would probably notice too, and grow anxious, he switched the subject of conversation back to the topic of his condition."...I have a feeling that my death will not happen at the hands of your self-defense. Your anger, perhaps, but not self-defense." The joke brought a slight smirk to Zach's face, before falling back to its dark mask of fatigue." ...I'm just... tired." He sighed on the last word, fully aware that his power could easily take him over in his current state of exhaustion, yet it was strange- he felt nothing trying to force him out.On the other hand, it was also possible that his power was providing him with a false sense of security, trying to plan a sneak takeover.A sudden, creeping feeling crawling down his spine convinced the leader otherwise. Face grim, Zach quietly stood up, his hand gripping the edge of his metal, foldable chair."Hey, Shadow? You should really duck right now."The warning came only milliseconds before Zach heaved the chair towards the newly freed power that was in the middle of her rush towards Raven, dagger in hand. The heavy seat crashed into the now feral Listener, effectively knocking the power to the floor and sent the the deck of cards flying across the floor in multiple directions.Pulling a sword, Zach advanced on the feral, unconsciously glancing towards Raven to check that she hadn't been injured.Back in her room, Annabell was still jiggling the handle of her door, wondering when the base's lockdown would end. A dangerous drug in the water...With all the talk of user-repressors and such recently, she couldn't help but feel that all of this spelt nothing but bad news.On top of everything, she felt sleepy... it WAS rather late, wasn't it?However, Annabell thought it impossible to take a nap with that terrible music playing- "Baby" had long ended, and now Rebecca Black was shrieking the days of the week in her ear.

Raven had been concentrating on Zach and had completely missed the movement behind her. However, when he told her to duck, her training kicked in and she automatically rolled off the couch, sliding into a low crouch and pivoting around on the balls of her feet just in time to see the feral get pow'd by Zach's chair. The hearing-power smashed the chair aside, eyes burning with rage, and slowly picked herself up off the ground. With a tiny flick of the rest, she sent a dagger flying at each of the users. The only thing Raven had to hand was literally her hand, luckily Texas Hold'em gives two cards. Of course, they were only made of flimsy paper, but her perfect aim meant they intercepted the daggers and altered their courses just enough that they missed their intended targets. All this happened in an instant. Not at all fazed, the feral Listener charged at Five.At the same time, Four, who had been in his office at the time of Two's broadcast and lockdown of the base, was fighting a different kind of battle. What he did was focus everything on singing along to the lyrics; "It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday..." So long as his concentration wasn't broken, the power couldn't find a foothold in his mind. You could tell that all the singing ability had definitely been given to the other twin though, because he was totally tone deaf...

Stepping back and falling into a familiar stance, Zach slashed his sword at the charging feral, who quickly jumped backwards, dodging the attack. While the attacker was distracted, Five pulled a dagger from his pocket, now glad he didn't disarm himself right after the mission, and slid it across the metal floor to where Raven was crouching. The Listener pulled another daggerfrom her coat- Zach sighed at this, why did he have to be surrounded by such well-prepared people- and lunged at Five.Thinking fast, he caught her blade with his own sword, and sent it flying from her hand. In the nanosecond that followed, another vicious attack caused the power to stumble backwards, a gash now dripping bright blood down her right arm.The feral's eyes narrowed with rage at the sight of her own blood, and she surged forward again, this time attempting to sweep Zach 's legs out from under him- and sadly, succeeding.Five slammed onto the floor, cursing his slow reaction time, the drug, and the feral all out loud, while being revealed to be surprisingly creative in his use of known curse words. Eight was now growing a bit angry- she'd been trying to force her door open for the past fifteen minutes. After delivering yet another kick that failed to even put a dent in the strong steel, the leader sighed, and gave up, retreating back to her desk. Her pink laptop hummed as she approached it, the ITunes playlist window still open, with "Boyfriend" about to replace "Friday" as the annoying song blaring over the intercom system. Eight paused for a moment, and quickly switched Justin Bieber's hit with something she considered more appropriate for the current situation."Do do do do do do do do do do."She gave Brooke Fraser a moment to get to the good part."are you thinking bout' me babe? I'm crazy over you~AaahAaah Aaahthere's something in the water, something in the water,"A mischievious smile spread over the girl's face. One ironic song wasn't good enough for Eight, so she added "There must be something in the water", a song by a band called Blindside, to be next on the playlist, which was more screamo-ish and rather perfect for a fight with powers. After that, the playlist would switch back to "Boyfriend" before starting over again on "Baby". Eight grinned to herself, pleased with her work.

Three was very shocked by the announcement that the water system had been poisoned, and the base going into lockdown. However, he didn't feel at all ill, only a little tired (the earache was from the awful music), but that was understandable considering the hour and that he'd just spent half a day moving and storing his predecessor's weapon collection. Some of those things were really extremely heavy! Still, this could be the effects of the poison, and so Col was drinking caffeinated milk, as in, coffee without the water, just the instant powder and milk. It was a truly disgusting mix, as he'd never liked coffee in the first place, and without the water it didn't properly dissolve the powder, but it still worked.Anyway, he had to go see Two and find out what the heck was going on. Col really couldn't accept the flimsy explanation over the loudspeaker. Lockdown in order to "isolate damages"? That really didn't make sense. And maybe they could conduct "medical scans" in the Islet of Silence, but here? Yeah, right. Let's face it, the mainland was living in the dark ages. They used knives and swords! How weird was that, in the twenty-first century... The few pieces of tech they did have had been painstakingly transported from the IOS, that was, except for their SIM system, which had gotten a massive update this past year. And considering the little he had overheard from Five and his assistant, this was seriously troubling. The Listener had been a member of First, after all.Raven snatched the dagger off the floor, then while Zach had the feral distracted, took the chance to vault over the couch and sneak around behind the enemy. When her ally was knocked down, she stepped forward to deliver a crippling stab in the back. However, Raven had forgotten something. The Listener had been so nicknamed for a reason, and that was her power being acute hearing. Despite Raven's proficiency at stealth, she definitely wasn't good enough to pass under the notice of someone with Lizz's ability, despite the onslaught of Brooke Fraser and the fight with Five. The feral turned and, faster than Raven could react, landed a hard kick to her stomach, then tried to follow up with a sock to the jaw, however, Raven managed to catch it. She made to slash at the Listener's arm with her dagger, but the feral ripped her fist free and jumped back just in time.Raven noticed during this exchange that the Listener was trying very hard to keep her distance from the speaker behind.
taffy789 • 17 February 2013 at 1:36 AM
Seeing that Raven had pulled the feral's attention away from him, Zach willed himself to a standing position- how was it that he just remembered how comfortable floors could be? ...Too bad it was currently a terrible time to take a nap.He watched as the feral almost socked Raven in the jaw and sighed.Yes, a very bad time to nap indeed. His grip tightened around the hilt of his sword, and Five once again charged the hearing-power, taking a swing at the Listener's non-injured arm.Despite Zach's sluggish movements, his intuition still raced along at a fast pace, perhaps even quicker than before, and he caught the power in the middle of dodging his attack with a swift kick to the side of her knee. The feral slammed onto the ground, and Five quickly lunged forward before she could recover, ending the fight with a well-placed strike of a sword. What little rush of adrenaline Zach had acquired from the battle was now leaving him, so he silently re-sheathed his stained blade, moved away from the body of the Listener, and back to the couch."... So, are you going to deal this time? Favors, correct?" Five calmly questioned eying the scattered deck that was spread across all corners of the room."May I say that flying chair was the first one?"Upon taking a closer inspection of the laptop, Eight saw another window tabbed on her browser. Over-flowing with curiosity, she clicked the tab, expanding the base lockdown sequence's controls across her screen.Baffled, it took the leader a full seven minutes to understand what she was actually looking at. Once it was determined to only be the lockdown controls, Eight realized that on her computer were the keys to her escape from her office. However, a problem ensured...how did one cancel the security measures?...With the big, red, obvious button screaming the word "CANCEL" in big blinking letters at the bottom of the screen eluding Eight, she turned back to her door, wondering which of her filing cabinets was heavy enough to break open a steel door upon smashing against it, yet light enough so she could chunk it across the room.

"Tch," Raven looked at the floor, her careful pokerface from earlier already back on. She could feel a seriously painful bruise forming on her stomach, and she was trying not to think about that. "Fine. But you know, after careful evaluation of her abilities and fighting style, assessment of the environment and possible weapons to hand, and a nice warm up, I'd just thought up the perfect, kick-ass strategy to defeating her. If you'd just given me fifteen seconds, but no. For taking my eminent victory away from me, I demand compensation, and I guess that if you ask really nicely, I might acquiesce to call it even." She was really joking, but with that sober expression, it was kind of hard for anyone to tell, and she didn't intend for them too, either.Raven tossed him back his dagger before setting about collecting all the playing cards. One was sitting cross-legged on her bed, in her pajamas, hugging a Hello Kitty plushie tight to her stomach. She looked the picture of any small girl in front of the tv watching something scary late at night. And oh, was she watching something scary... As One she had complete control over the surveillance, with the press of a button, she could see everything that was happening inside the base. To her, it didn't at all make up for the fact that her position meant she wasn't supposed to go outside, and not allowed to reveal herself to anyone. But right now it was a lot more useful, because the base was in lockdown, and no one could go anywhere.Strangely enough, hidden beneath the plushie's fluff, One was smiling softly. He'd done this. When she'd finally found him again, she had been so scared that he wasn't the same person anymore. Who would have believed it? He hadn't recognized her. (Neither had Col, of course, which made her wonder if guys that age just suffered from serious memory loss. Possibly get Eight to examine them). But he really was the same person. "Ah, you really are such a liar, Spike..."
taffy789 • 17 February 2013 at 2:36 PM
Zach caught the dagger, replacing on his belt, and smirked at Raven's comment."Funny, because it seemed to take me less than fifteen seconds..."As if he was going to apologize for anything. He silently watched as Raven picked up the cards from the floor."Wow, you seem really mad~ What's wrong? Are you sick or something?"The feral boy only snarled in reply, which caused Eight to pout. Seriously, it took her five filing cabinets and her desk to break out of her office, and three minutes after wandering around the base's eeriely empty hallways, this guy tries to jump her? People had no courtesy anymore, did they? She had a very important place to get to! "Really, it's not nice to growl like that!" Eight chided the power, "What are you, some kind of wild animal?"The leader continued to frown as a blast of fire scorched the wall to her direct right."I see~" she sighed."I haven't fought in a long time, but I still remember how to!" the girl exclaimed happily, before pausing again, confused."At least...I THINK I remember...."As she pondered her own thoughts, the feral rushed her, fire swirling around its body and flames of fury burning in its eyes.Suddenly, she turned to the charging boy, eyes glowing. "Oh yeah! I do remember!"The fire-power caught sight of Eight's gaze, and came to a complete stop mid-attack, its own eyes wide with horror. The leader smiled, pleased with herself, and approached the feral, not dropping her gaze. She continued to grin as she withdrew her retractable spear, and took care of at least one feral problem, right there in the hallway.

The TELI briefly glowed a warm amber before Three dematerialized and reappeared in the second leader's office. The place was perfectly empty. Well, he'd had no reason to believe Two was in his office when he'd called lockdown. However, the room was filled with disgusting cigarette fumes. Of course he knew Two smoked, but sheesh... Col coughed and tried to wave away the smoke. This definitely wasn't healthy. He was about to teleport on out of there, but that's when he saw the mess on the desk. Col froze for a minute, then cautiously, approached. At that moment he noticed several things.Firstly, he recognized it as the remains of a broken TELI. There were only supposed to be three of them at base, including his, so it was safe to assume this belonged to Two. This meant Two had not left the room by teleportation. Since Two had been the one to activate the lockdown, he'd definitely be able to open his own doors. However, considering the amount of smoke trapped in the room, it didn't look like that had happened at all. Lastly, he saw there was pale light reflected onto the back wall, the kind you'd get from a computer in a very dim room (like this one). Then he heard the clicking of a mouse and a few hesitant and disjointed taps of the keyboard. Now, Two was an extremely fast typer. He could type with one hand twice as faster than the eye could follow, and beat Pacman with the other while he was at it. Three wasn't a slow typer either. You really had to see it to believe it.So Col was getting a pretty strange vibe here. "Two?" he dared say aloud. When there was no answer, he wandered around behind the desk and then slowly lowered his gaze downwards. It was truly a strange sight. 'Two' was crouched under the desk, a pretty amazing feat considering the space (Two had tended to keep his feet on the top, actually). His face was right up by the laptop's screen and yet he was still squinting at it with a clouded expression, like he was very confused or troubled about something; or as short-sighted as a bat/blinded by cigarette smog. He didn't at all notice Col, preoccupied by whatever was on the screen and distractedly sucking on yet another cigarette, discarded ones were littered all over the floor about him. 'Two' then shifted his focus from the screen to the keyboard and seemed to spend almost a full minute looking for a letter before hitting 'g'. Oh, and his hair wasn't black but cream.Col took a few steps back, wondering if there couldn't be a mistake.

Wow, pacing aimlessly around your room is a great way to waste time.Annabell happened upon this relavation as she was doing just that. In all truthfulness, there wasn't much she COULD do, currently. Being locked inside your own quarters meant just that, so not somuch happened. She felt grateful that she wasn't cleithrophobic, however...BANG!Annabell lurched forward, frantically glancing around thearea, searching for the cause of the gigantic boom that had rattled her room.BANG!The second shockwave nearly threw Annabell off her feet. She rushed to her bed, and jumped to the safety of the stable mattress. As she could now clearly see, the bangs seemed to be coming from...her door. Something was trying to break through.Something very powerful.Always prepared for the worst, Annabell pulled her dagger, and knelt on her bed, readying to spring from it in case she had to escape quickly. The banging continued to rattle her entire room, wildly shaking her bed back and forth as if an earthquake had hit. Finally, the door gave in, and nearly snapped off its hinges with the force of the final blow. Into her room flew the object that had just managed to break down a steel door...it was a...filing...cabinet?"OH. MY GOSH. You would totally not believe how hard it was to carry that thing across the base."Annabell straightened at the sound of the voice. Somehow, she would have preferred a murderous killer with a chainsaw and a ski mask to the girl that had just smashed her way into her quarters. At least the chainsaw man would've been less creepy, not to mention much more sane."Annie~ We have trouble, trouble, trouble~! I guess I hafta apologize for what I did, too, but honestly sweetie, I forgot what exactly I did~." Eight smiled at the Annabell as she stepped over the twisted remains of the steel door, entering the room."Also, you have to admit, it was pretty scary. When they test stuff like that, they usually use people they don't like. It's like, the law or something. The other leaders get jealous because I steal all the popsicles~ Not fair at all!"...Annabell wasn't sure on what to do, but she had to fight the urge to briskly flee from the room and pray that Eight didn't follow. It seemed pretty mean, but the leader was just...creepy...Speaking of creepy, did she have blood on her shirt? Annabell felt positive that a blood splatter colored the insane girl's shirt.Never a good sign for things to come.

Col started when the guy under the desk all of a sudden quietly spoke; "He's in the backroom.""Sorry?" Three blinked several times. No, it was all good; Two was way too powerful to ever go Feral, it wasn't possible to become so strong without first mastering one's power. And Ferals didn't talk. Not that he'd ever seen."You are here looking for Two? Am I right?" The other male looked up from his screen for the first time, and that incredible resemblance was probably just a coincidence. Likely caused by the cigarette fumes getting to his brain. Those exactly identical onyx eyes? Definitely only a random chance, certainly didn't mean anything. Who knew, maybe it was this person's power, to resemble someone one knew, or something. They really were not the leader, okay? That would just be ridiculous. Hair doesn't magically go from black to near white like that. It was true that Ferals were known to alter the hair colour, without the use of dye. But it wasn't actually the power taking over that did it, it was more like when extremely high levels of active power was concentrated in one's body... Power was made of energy and energy basically heat. Then as you expended the energy (as you constantly do), where does it go? Like heat, it rises off into the air and dissolves, or whatever. Hair and eyes seem to have the only remarkable change. Probably something to do with the pigment. Still, it's not magical. Despite his own power being physically, nomologically and metaphysically impossible, Col was still a firm believer in science.Col nodded vaguely. "You are the new assistant?" he hazarded a well-educated guess. Who else would be alone in Two's office? "Why are you under the desk?""..." The guy shrugged, as best he could in the tight space. It seemed he didn't know why either. "But it is very comfortable here."Col wondered about how that was even possible, then about the guy's accent for a while (he couldn't place it), before wandering off for the backroom.Err... Two's office didn't have a backroom. Not that he could see. (He couldn't see the exit either, it was completely indiscernible from the wall. But let's ignore that.)"There isn't one, is there? Really, I did not mean it quite so literally," the power stated with some little amusement. He tapped a finger against his temple to give a hint. "He's asleep." The second leader closed his eyes and his hair slowly darkened all the way to black. He smiled faintly.Col slapped a palm to his forehead. Damit.
taffy789 • 20 February 2013 at 6:50 PM
"So, yeah, everyone's in a bit of trouble now, aren't we?" Eight finished explaining the dire situation to Annabell, who frowned."...A BIT of trouble?" she exclaimed in reply, taken back by how calm the leader seemed to be acting. "There seems to be more than "a bit" of trouble here.""Huh? Really? You shouldn't think that way, really." Eight matched Annabell's frown, before walking across the room and plopping onto the bed. "I think it's good to always think positive! Else you'll get wrinkles around your eyes, and then who'd love you then?" she stated, nodding gravely at her own words."..." There couldn't be a more deadpan look than the one on Annabell's face. However, she quickly waved it off and cleared her throat before speaking."So, Eight, I expect you came to me for a reason..."The leader's eyes brightened. "Oh, yeah! So that serum you had, right? It would be very bad, bad for both of us, actually, if that medicine would be allowed, but..." Eight sighed, reluctant to continue. "...It's a lot worse if people get taken over. Being taken over is bad- it hurts people.""Well, you're right about it hurting people." Annabell sighed, but noticed Eight's strange comment. Although she wasn't sure if she wanted to hear the answer, she questioned the blue-haired girl about it anyway. "...Why would the serum be bad for both of us?"The leader simply grinned back in reply. "Because I want to help you, of course! People need to help each other! They tell others things... Like when they have really stupid ideas, or when a feral is about to attack them!"While Annabell wasn't sure which of the things Eight just told her were more terrifying, in each their own way, she knew which took top priority at the moment.Acting on Eight's cue, Annabell flashed invisible and rolled out of the path of the charging feral.

Immediately, Three reached for his TELI, one thing on his mind, and that was to get One.It wasn't that he was scared, he didn't think himself completely out of Two's league... But he wasn't stupid, either. He didn't know how long it had been since the other leader had actually had to fight, but it wasn't smart to think he'd gotten sloppy. When he'd been investigating Two, he'd seen recordings of the Truce three years ago. If Two was anything, he was dangerous with a capital D. And now Feral. It should've taken him only a second to teleport out of there. But he didn't move. He couldn't."So this is fun," the Power clambered out from under the desk and approached the now statue-still Three. His movements were awkward, like he wasn't used to his skin. "It is nice, you know, to breathe the fresh air yourself," he murmured, while exhaling smoke right into the latter's face."But like this, I guess you are... not breathing," he gave a short, exhilarated bark of laughter, delighting in the feeling of control. "You can not see, hear, feel, move... If I did not know better, I might think you... dead." He reached out as if to take the teleportation device, but instead let TELI slipped through his hand and smash on the floor. "Oh dear. What delicate things," he shrugged and turned away, and as he did so, released his power over the other leader.Col blinked. One second, the Power was under the desk, meters away, and the TELI in his hands, the next, the device was nothing more than crystal shards and a chemical puddle soaking through his shoes, and the Power had appeared right in front of him. He bit back a startled exclamation and just stared wordlessly at the Feral, in shock, heartbeat a mile a minute. The Power watched this reaction with obvious satisfaction, and mused, half to himself, "It is like having a remote control. To one of those television sets. As weird as it sounds... Pause, play... And, of course, fast forward."Three took a deep breath- though it made his throat burn from the fumes- and gave a hard glower. "What do you want?" he said, keeping it as simple as possible. He couldn't teleport out of here anymore, meaning... He couldn't leave the room without getting past the leader, needed to use the computer to open the door. The strange thing was, unlike a wild Feral, Two's power hadn't actually attacked him, yet... He decided the best thing to do was to stall, and hopefully One would turn up, after all, she had the surveillance at her fingertips.
smilies • 3 March 2013 at 12:07 AM
"Huh?" the Power was then thoroughly distracted as he caught sight of his own image on the screen. He stared, examining his reflection with evident surprise. "Who knew he was such a looker?" the power frowned, smiled, pouted, trying a variety of facial expressions and angling his head to find the best view. It disturbed the Three how this very different character looked exactly like Two, yet had a whole new set of mannerisms and expressions which all looked very strange on Two. Two pouting? Too strange! "What kind of mirror is this anyway? It is... Very dark. I suppose it does go with the theme," he contemplated."It's a screen. For a computer. You were using one not five minutes ago," Col also shot him a strange look, raising an eyebrow at the power's obvious display of vanity but didn't comment."...Was I?" the Power paused, looking confused. "Five minutes ago..." he began counting something on his fingers.Three sweatdropped....Surely it couldn't be..."So how long have you been here for? And how long was I asleep? Can't have been too long, a couple of hours? I'm still so tired..."A time-power that had no concept of time...?"And I have been wondering for a while... When was the Berlin wall demolished? Because I swear it was not there when I was, in May, I think?"Col was silent."Wait, it must have been a few years since then... Let's see, it had to have been 1952?""...It wasn't even built then," Col explained exasperatedly. "It was constructed in 1961, August 13! And you can't possibly have been alive sixty years ago, you're only, what, seventeen, eighteen?"The Power started, gaze flickering back to his reflection. "Seventeen years old...? Sixty years ago?! ...What year is it now?""You're hopeless," Col sighed."That is not true," the Power complained.Three ignored him. "Anyway, I'm not here to debate history. What are you going to do, now that you're..." he shrugged. He couldn't believe the other'd just sit back and enjoy the show."No, you're here because you're stuck," the Power retorted evenly. "And I am going to... shut you up," he replied, freezing Col still again on a whim. "Really, tooannoying!"He eyed the remains of the TELI. It was inconvenient how easily everything broke! Unfortunately, the thick steel doors wouldn't be so kind. The Power was more brains than brawn though, and managed to open them with out too much trouble by Two's laptop, though he accidentally snapped the hinges of that when closing it. Oops.Well, he was out.

"So, where are we going again?"Annabell attempted to question her companion for what she guessed had to be a total of ten times by this point."-it's made in Italy. By the way, have you ever had chocolate chip ice-cream?"There were no pauses, not even for breath, in the Leader's sentences."It's SOOOO good! My favorite is mint chocolate chip, though! Oh my gosh, it's just so amazing!"The Leader replied the same way she had answered all the questions the girl tried to ask her- by ignoring them. When the feral had attacked, Eight had started this huge, one-sided conversation on a multitude of topics, laying on the bed, and not bothering to help Annabell defend herself against the power. Right after the threat's heart stopped beating, solely thanks to invisible ex-spy, the Leader then decided to spring into action, grabbing her tired comrade, and tugging her through the maze of hallways by the arm.Currently, the two were wandering around the base, the only words between them being Eight's colorful commentary on the history, flavors, and different brands of ice-cream, displaying her extensive knowledge on the treat. Although Annabell knew the girl, in her own strange way, actually WANTED to help her, she couldn't help but start to think of creative methods to ditch the Leader and go find someone more... sane....On second thought, that could be hard at the Falchion's base, and not just because a good percent of the people were in the process of turning into blood thirsty powers.Eight turned a sharp corner, glanced down the corridor, smiled, and turned back to her ally."Look! Two's office is down there." she pointed towards an ominous-looking metal door, "I think Two-y is in his office right now! If anyone knows what to do with the cure, it's him~. Actually, it's funny, he probably doesn't even know I'm out of my own office right now~."Eight giggled slightly, and started to skip down to Two's room, calling for Two in her regular, impossibly loud voice.Annabell couldn't help but feel a bit... shocked. Now, she'd long ago learnt the many rumors of IOD, and knew that the Eight and Two closely worked together. However, upon hearing the peppy calls of "Spike-y!" echo down the silent hallways, Annabell had to rethink her reasons as to why Eight hadn't been mysterious killed long, long ago.

He only heard the calls after the door closed shut. The Power gave the steel a long, hard stare before reluctantly admitting there was no use starting an argument with it. They can't have not seen him by now and unfortunately, such dashing good looks as his couldn't be mistaken. Forcing a light smile, he turned to the girls and looked them both up and down. Did he know them? He- or rather, Two- thought he might know the loud one, she seemed the type difficult to forget- and she definitely knew him, but the Power was having a hard time properly placing her."How may I help you?" he settled with a neutral response, unsure of how to treat these people. It would be best if he could continue on his way without leaving statues scattered up and down the corridors.
taffy789 • 4 March 2013 at 5:47 PM
"Spike-y!" the girl grinned, and skidded to a stop in front of the person she assumed was her friend."Hey, did I see a very, very, very small smile there~? Hehehe, it must be opposite day! Should I act different too?" Eight ignored his question and then pouted, as if pretending to act gruff. Suddenly, her eyes widened in horror as a realization came upon her."Nooo~! If I'm acting opposite, then that means I don't like sweets, do I? How am I supposed to live without my frozen treats?! Nooo~!"Behind her, Annabell cleared her throat, though not sure if even that could even get Eight back on track. As expected, the Leader didn't take the hint."Anyway, Two, you suddenly disappeared from my office! That was really weird, did you learn how to teleport? Can you teach me how to teleport? I wanna be able to appear into the other's offices and steal their computers! That'll mess them up!" the girl giggled happily. With a sigh, Annabell facepalmed.
asi • 5 March 2013 at 2:13 AM
A 'very, very, very small smile' was the opposite of how Two normally acted? He'd have thought he might have known something if his user was completely emo, but apparently, he was wrong. It seemed like impersonating someone he'd never officially met but known his entire life was hard... Confused? He knew he was!He decided to just go with his instincts. If this was her acting natural around him, then obviously he ought to respond in kind!"Speaking of frozen treats, just now I had orange chocolate-chip ice-cream for the first time. It was like..." he pondered, crossing his arms and leaning thoughtfully back against the wall, "...medicine."As much as the Power appreciated that conversation, and was interested to see what other great deserts he'd missed, he really was getting distracted. "No. I can not teach you how. I am sorry," he told her candidly, then turned to the other girl. Perhaps she could be more to the point. "What is it exactly that you wanted me for?"

"Oh, well..." Annabell hesistated a moment, then resumed speaking. "It seems that I've discovered something that can help the situation we are in.""This plan has nothing to do with dessert, Two, so it's not worth anything." Eight interjected, nodding her head solemnly. This comment caused Annabell to frown slightly. However, she waved off the Leader's aversion to plan as her speaking nonsense again."Anyway, I discovered something that can help with the fight against the powers, you could call it an antidote even. It's not exactly ready yet, as it had been stolen from a government lab a long time ago and might be a bit deadly, but if we can fix it up so it works, well-!" she cut herself off upon realizing the her tone sounded almost TOO excited about the new development. Taking in a small breath, she calmed herself down, before continuing. "I think this will be able to solve the feral problem."Yes, it could solve the feral problem and save everyone. Everyone.Of course Annabell possessed a reason to feel eager; there was hope for her friends yet.

This information gave the Power pause. His eyes, if it was possible, darkened and he glanced towards the floor. "You... Remind me very much of someone I once knew," he told her quietly, impersonally. "If I were you, I would not get my hopes up, for whatever cause..."May I see this antidote? I do not claim to be an expert in the area, but I've seen more than my fair share of this kind of stuff," he shrugged. "What do you know about it already? Has it been tested? What level is it supposed to be, a suppressant, or a more permanent solution? And, do you have any idea what it is made of?" the Power fired off his questions rapidly, keeping tabs on the time on the wall's ticking as he did so. He didn't know how long he had, but this was too important for him to just pass by.

Someone he once knew?...She decided to shrug the comment off, as the Leader's personal life wasn't something she felt very interested in, especially at the moment. The most important topic at hand continued to be the drug development. "I know very little about the serum, actually." Annabell admitted, giving a light shrug."I'm guessing that it has been tested before, but I wouldn't know the results of those tests. I expect that it's not perfect, however. As for it being a suppresent or a solution, I would guess suppresent, but I can't be too sure..."Despite her reluctance to hand over the fragile needle to some one after what had happened with Eight, she decided that Two seemed trust worthy enough, him being a higher-up Leader and all. Him apparently not being totally insane- especially considering the rumors- happened to be a big plus also. Not to mention a breath of fresh air, considering her company for the past few minutes. However, as Annabell's hand reached into the sheath where the antidotes should have rested and came up with nothing, her face quickly drained itself of all color.Where had the box of needles gone? She'd been sure to pick them up before she left her room... Or did she? Eight pulled her out of it rather quickly, after all... Eight.Glancing upwards and taking quick inventory of the number of people in the corridor, Annabell realized that they were short one very crazy girl...Now, obviously, the box could have just been left behind during the rush, but if the Leader had chosen to steal it..."It's gone. I'm sure it had just been left behind, but Eight's also gone... Since there's two of us, I can go check my room, and perhaps you could go check Eight? I've only know her for a short time, but she seems like the unpredictable type, and might've took the antidotes...for some reason. She also might be more corporative with you than with me..."An almost pleading look etched onto Annabell's face told anyone looking that she did NOT wish to be in charge of retrieving Eight.

"Alright..." the Power's expression was nonchalant, but on the inside he didn't at all know where he was or which direction to even begin looking. He'd thought that once he had control, all of Spike's memories would become accessible, but obviously he was wrong. Then again, it kind of made sense. It's not like his memory was photographic, or had a replay button. He sighed internally for having overlooked this inconvenient detail. The Power wandered off in the direction he'd beden heading in the first place. Hopefully one of the things he was looking for was this way...He was worried about this, 'Eight'. Why had she, if the other girl was right, snatched the antidote? She'd helped in bringing it to him... Why the sudden change of heart? She must have seen through him. The Power half-expected her to jump him from the ceiling and jab the serum in his throat.

Eight entered her office, stepping over the filing cabinet that still laid, heavily dented, at the door's entrance. As she stepped inside, she noted that her office looked as if a tornado had rushed in and destroyed the place.Because of this mess, she pondered if she should get some one to clean-up her office for her later- maybe her assistant, if the girl was not currently in the process of turning feral...Since it would be a long time before the Leader would get any help with cleaning, Eight decided to get her office at least a bit tidier in the meantime. Whistling a happy tune, she worked on picking up and replacing her tossed desk, and re-organizing the various knick-knacks scattered about from her escape from her room. The computer, having been placed on the floor for safe-keeping, was retrieved by Eight and placed back on the desk. After becoming quickly bored with cleaning, the girl switched to picking out more annoying songs to blare over the intercom, via Pandora.

As the Power was wandering down the corridor, a random piece of paper lying randomly on the floor caught his attention, randomly. "What are you doing on the floor, huh, Mr. Paper?" he demanded irritably of the paper. He picked it up and looked it over, but all the tiny letters started giving him a headache and he dropped it.But just a few meters down the passage another piece of paper started bothering him. The Power stopped and glowered at what he dubbed, 'Mr. Paper Number 2', for several minutes, as if he expected the paper to surrender before his scary glare and tell its kind to retreat and stop getting in his way. When it became apparent the paper was going to continue to ignore him, the Power decided there was no point taking this up with a foot-soldier like Mr. Paper Number 2. He'd have to take it up with their leader, and to find that leader, the Power would have to follow the scattered papers straight to their source. Filled with determination for his mission, the Power set off (having completely forgotten his REAL missions)."... What are you doing?" the girl raised an eyebrow at the duo. They'd been wandering around here before she'd went into her room and they were still here when she exited. Talk about weird."Nothing," the older one, with the long, spiky red hair began. "We're just-"The blonde had already shrugged at them and walked off before Xela could finish.Guithe sighed tiredly. They really were lost in an enemy base! There were now very few people about the base this late, and it was starting to look like they'd have to sleep in the corridors.Xela had been getting more and more annoyed by the hour, and she looked ready to punch something hard, or resort to lasering down a wall so they could get into a room. She'd determined, from the way Xela had responded when Guithe had jokingly suggested that very idea, it was exactly the kind of thing her user would have done. The song-user was starting to get very worried that Xela's recent illness had to do with her user trying to take control. She'd heard that sickness often happened in those situations. From what Guithe had gathered, Xela's user had been a very bad, violent person..."Hang in there, Xela," she murmured. If only she had the ability to wake some people up, rather than putting everyone to sleep."You two're STILL hanging around here?" a disbelieving voice exclaimed. Guithe turned to them in relief; that very strange male was back.

Even though it took a few minutes for Annabell to finally get there, she arrived back at her- a tad bit wrecked- room, huffing from her slowly growing lethargy and fast pace. She frowned at the mess, which seemed a bit odd to her, since she knew she didn't even care an inch about the room that had been given to her. Perhaps it was simply just a sense of owner's pride?...Considering she had no time to waste, Annabell quickly flew into search-and-rescue mode, desperately trying to locate the box containing the antidote....A few more minutes ticked past before she achieved success in her efforts. The box sat near a wall of the room, accidentally thrown aside when the feral attacked, and forgotten during the hustle to find Two.Retrieving the black container, Annabell held her breath as she opened it, hoping to whatever deity that bothered to be listening that the serums were still safe....Well, at least ONE of the serums were safe. With an annoyed huff of air, Annabell slammed the lid shut and slid the box safely into her pocket. If one of the antidotes was in her hands, it meant that the other had to be with the only other person who knew of its existence...On the bright side, if Eight only stole one of the needles, it meant that she hadn't been trying to sabotage the mission for the cure, right? Else, the smartest thing would've been to take both...That theory itself brought up a whole other load of questions, but Annabell decided to not worry about them currently, as the top priority was getting the antidote back to Two...Hopefully he would be easy to find...(OOC Note: Boring, uncreative post is boring. .3. )

He contemplated the obstructing filing cabinet that lay in his path for several minutes, wondering what would be the most delicate way to procede. He kicked it aside, hard enough that it slammed into the wall with a shocking 'bang!' Since it had already been seriously abused, the Power figured it wouldn't make that much difference. Besides, it had had many papers inside. He felt some satasfaction on kicking the leader of the papers. He'd spent the trip trying to ring a few bells on this strange 'Eight'. And the more he'd thought about her, the more he got the sense that Two and her were connected in some way. She just seemed... Significant, that was the word. He felt a little like he ought not to be messing with this, like he shouldn't interfere with their relationship...Just that thought made the Power mad, and he knew that in this case, interfering was exactly what he should do! Two had known that he had had no right to care about anyone, and if he'd gone and developed some kind of feelings for this girl... The Power groaned internally. That was so not happening. At least he could feel assured in one thing; no one in their right mind would ever care BACK. He was a cold, sadistic murderer. No one would ever care, no one was supposed to care. And the Power didn't care what he had to do to make sure of that.As these thoughts went through his mind, the intensity of his power fluxuated, and the ends of his hair grew tipped in white for a moment. He shook himself to clear his head and fix his emotions, and they returned to normal. The Power walked into the room, his face a mask lacking completely of expression, a very Two-esque look and yet he somehow managed to look very different.

Eight managed to stop spinning around in her computer chair- by far her favorite pastime while in her office- and grinned as the Power entered through the door."Spike-y! Did you get the antidote-thingy from the Annie girl?" she greeted who she thought was her friend in the same happy, upbeat manner as always."Sorry I left, but we needed newer songs to play over the intercom! I think that the bad music is the best line of defense we have, since I bet powers wouldn't want the first sounds they hear to be the Jackson Beaver guy!" the girl's face scrunched up, as if disgusted. The calls of "baby, baby, baby, oh!" echoing throughout the room only reinforced the reasoning behind her facial expression. This moment of silence soon passed quickly, and it became clear that Eight wasn't about to let "Two" get a word in edgewise."Honestly though, I can't wait for this entire thing to blow over. First off, I'm going to get my assistant to clean my office- if she's not a feral, of course. Then perhaps I'll go get some food~. I'm starved."Despite Eight being on the small side, it was known to most that the girl could eat like a horse.Where she stored the pounds was anybody's guess, and most just considered it as another mystery surrounding the crazy, hair-dying Leader at the Falchion's base.Turning her attention away from Two's power for a few seconds, Eight dug in the drawers of her desk, and retrieved a coloring book. After flipping through the pages, she came to a picture of a kitten that had been colored various shades of neon colors."I like this picture." she remarked, lifting the paper up to show to the Power. "I want to tape it on my wall, but I lost my tape throwing my desk at the door."With that final sentence, the girl solemnly nodded, concluding her nonsensical, seemingly endless one-sided conversation.

The Power waited impatiently for her to finish. Funnily enough, he thought he could see exactly why Two may be attracted to someone like her...... Wait, that noise was supposed to be music? It was god-awful! ... Best not to linger on that painful subject."No, she mislaid it. She suggested perhaps you may have taken them," he said straight-up as soon as she was done. Hopefully he could keep things simple here and just get this done, quick and painless.Speaking of painless... Eight seemed like a kind of girl who would be very difficult to scare or threaten. (Two sure knew how to pick them). He'd give her a choice, or course, but of the two killing her would be so much simpler. The Power had awoken with that very purpose in mind, killing, so one life more wouldn't make any difference to him, cold or hot blooded."We were dumped in the middle of the Glaeroes base, what would you expect?" Xela was unamused."Yes, how very rude of me, I forgot to show you to your rooms," the guy replied snarkily. "Well? This way, ladies," he flashed a cold smile, indicating for them to go on ahead."... No," Xela flatly turned him down."No?" he repeated, surprise evident in his every feature."Not until you tell us your game," Xela told him, lifting her chin in a show of confidence, letting him know that she wouldn't be strung blindly along any longer. Guithe squeezed her hand for support. This was a dangerous move to be pulling but they needed to know what it was that this mystery guy was up to."You don't want these rooms then?" he returned with a quick smirk, all arrogance.Xela flicked hair aside to get a better measure of him. This one was really turning out to be a handful. "I want both." And her subtext was clearly, 'And I always get what I want.'He raised his eyebrows and accused her; "Selfish.""Very," she agreed easily. His answering look was smoldering and more than a little flirtatious; "I like it. Follow me," he led the way.

"Mislaid it?" the Leader exclaimed in surprise, and then shook her head in a disapproving manner."Really? That stinks. Annie-girl should really watch where she puts such important stuff! You guys could've been saving the base by now! ...Like superheroes!" On the last sentence, her face switched from"disapproving pout" to "excited grin", most likely from the mental image of them beingsuperheroes."...Anyway~. I don't trust Annie with something so important! She seems like the type to do exactly something such as misplacing the antidote!"Eight did not lie in saying this; she really thought Annabell couldn't be trusted with the needles."I didn't take the serums, though!" the Leader added, "I wouldn't have a use for them anyway!"This statement, however, happened to be half a lie. She hadn't taken the serumS, but a serum. Singular, not plural. Therefore, not a complete lie.Although, the fact didn't really matter that much, for it wasn't if completely lying to Two would've heavily burdened her conscious anyway.

"Oh, but you do," the Power replied with a knowing smile that definitely did not reach his eyes, making him appear, if only for a second, saddened. "If I were you, I ought to have held on to one of them, you know, just in case exactly this happened. You see, I am not your... 'friend'," he gave a small frown of disgust on the last word. To demonstrate this fact, the Power let his hair go that sandy white color again. Though he rather fancied black suited him more..."But you could say we are... close. In fact, I am here for his sake. The thing is, he's got a problem. It is really a tiny little thing; you." His eyes flickered to focus on her face, allowing a pause for this to sink in."Two is a bad person. He kills, and he likes doing it. He tortures people for fun. He is cruel, sadistic, heartless, and definitely does not care anything about stupid little girls!" the Power ended up practically shouting the last part, he was really angry. Catching his breath, he remembered himself and returned to a soft, almost whisper-like volume."He is- in short- a monster! You can't really be friends with a person like that. He's not your friend, he doesn't even like you. So this should be easy. It's only returning his feelings, after all...All you have to do is tell him you hate him, that you've always hated him. Tell him it's the truth, it's always been the truth, and mean it! Tell him you hope he goes and kills himself against the Glaeroes, and you never see him again. Smash his stupid, non-existent heart... Do as I say and I promise, you'll never have to deal with him ever, ever again...." he looked at her solemnly. "Try to understand. This is truly the best thing for both of you."That sad half-smile was back, and he finished simply; "Otherwise, well. I'll just simplify everything and kill you. Do you understand?"

Eight stood there, unmoving, not uttering a single word. Her eyes, hazy and obscure as always, had slightly expanded, and were trained on the Power's face.Seconds that dragged on for years passed before a small, sharp intake of breath from Eight came, as if readying herself to speak.Another long pause crawled by before the girl finally opened her mouth."OMGEE, Spike-y, did you just dye your hair?!?" High-pitched squeals of delight followed this sentence, loud enough to break every window in the base, kill all small animals in range, and make the deaf able to hear again."Spike-y~, seriously, can I dye your hair now? It's white, that's a base color. Black is so hard to do, you know." Eight smiled up at the person who'd just threatened to end her life, grinning like an idiot. "May I suggest the color rainbow? Rainbow is a cool color~. Well, color or illusion! Like magicians do! I got it, rainbows are magicians!"If anyone had bothered to take note, they would've realized that the Leader's eyes now resembled the skyduring a rainstorm- that is to say, extremely cloudy. However, no note was taken of that fact, and instead, Eight simply continued to giggle with delight as she reached out to the Power, obviously trying to touch the "dyed" hair.
