He grimaced and withdrew the energy that naturally emanated off him in disgust. "Do not do that!"She scowled angrily. "You won't be able to stop me when you're dead..." she replied, drawing yet another knife and advancing. You could say that by now, he was a little freaked out. Whatever she was doing, it was seriously messing with him. Slowing things seemed have completely the opposite affect on her, and the time in her first charge she was able to change the area time effected, speeding up her left rather than her sword arm. So far jumping forwards in time had been safe, but he didn't have the time to waste to skip until she was gone- not to mention the more energy he put into skipping, the more unpredictable it became.Inverse came at him again, and it was all he could do to evade. It was becoming apparent that while Locke had the body of a master swordsman, with ridiculous strength and speed, incredible reaction time and all the right responses drilled into his muscle memory a hundredfold, the power himself lacked the experience, and with an opponent against whom his ability was practically useless... How could he win this fight? The knife was coming at him again, aimed straight for his heart, and fear held him in a grip tighter than his own timelocks. So easily, Inverse was going to have her revenge.Despair hit him, and then the pain, white hot and jagged, and the intensity so much he momentarily blacked out, his body falling to the floor in a crumpled heap. There was something strange about the grass though, apart from the color that is. It crumbled and broke under his touch. Riley sat up and tried to brush the strange pieces of grass off his hands and arms, but only managed to reduce it into a fine blue powder which'd probably NEVER come off. It was... it was incredibly frustrating!"...." Luckily Riley didn't get worked up about things like being permanently coated in dusty blue stuff that made him cough. The plant life here sure was... Well, not alive.Fog had descended so long and thick to obscure from sight anything more than a meter away. Nearby, a strange column of purple and deep deep blue seemed to rise from the ground and go on forever. A tree trunk? He drifted over to it, his shoes crunching the "grass" into powder, and touched it. It was made of the same stuff as the grass, but seemed to be thin layers wrapping around each other. One other thing. Somehow... This was all under water, tinting the whole world pink.

"Here." Hale said as they rounded the last corner on his mental map. Voeing looked incredibly relieved at the prospect of ditching the box, something the young power found incredibly strange and unnerving; with all those unnecessary emotions that powers normally didn't feel running across her face, she seemed too similar to a user. Hale inched away from her slightly. Voeing and Zan were too weird, not like powers should be. He was worried the disease might be infectious- but Chase seemed fine. He kept close to the speed-power and examined the corridor. It was empty and the door untouched. Still, he felt nervous. "Should have brought Inverse along," he said quietly. "For sensing."Chase rolled his eyes. "Would you have been willing to give her that order? None of us could have stopped her. Besides, this grudge-match of hers is convenient; with Two out of the way, we only really have to worry about the Phoenix- who's supposedly having a mental breakdown- Crazy Eight, and their mystery One; who's probably just about as substantial as smoke while the real is way out of reach." "... Do you really think she can take care of him?" Hale questioned."With ease," Chase reassured him confidently. "Without emotions, she's deadly. You don't know what she's like when she's passionate."The phaser shivered at the very idea. "... Want me to go on through?"Chase gave him a nod and Hale stepped up to the door, and then through it.That meant... Yep, this blue grass powder, it was NEVER going to come off. Riley was going to be a smurf forever. Wait a second; how was he even breathing? Things sure worked weirdly in his mind. He'd never thought himself particularly creative, but apparently his subconsciousness was..."Finally, Riley. It was about time we met."The strangest thing truly was hearing his own voice speak. Sure, Riley had heard himself on videos and stuff, but this was totally different. He whirled around so fast he breathed in too much water and started choking. The power's lips twitched in amusement and he pulled his legs up into a sitting cross-legged pose mid-water as he waited for his user to recover.

Retreating closer to the shadows as the rebels approached Riley's office, Annabell flattened herself near a wall to avoid quick detection.Luckily for her, they didn't seem to have their "sensing" Power with them...or, at least, that's what she picked up from their conversation. The girl moved as close to the group as she dared, and didn't take her eyes off them for a second as she watched the Powers converse with each other before the phasing-Power entered Riley's office. It seemed that Blaine's Power had been right- the rebels were after Riley. She closed her eyes, taking care not to breath too heavily, and attempted to clear her mind.Annabell knew she needed to do protect the guy, but what she was to do? Grab Four once the Phaser pushed him through the wall, turn invisible, and then begin the most dangerous game of keep-away ever?...That wasn't a bad idea, to be honest. She did have the upper hand in the element of surprise...and she knew how to use that to her advantage. As quiet as a mouse creeping through a room of cats, the girl positioned herself in a prime location for Riley-grabbing and her escape. Hopefully, she could somehow outrun the rebels with a head start... or, at least, be able to fight back if things turned ugly. You know, hopefully.

Inverse had to admit surprise when her adversary collapsed without warning just before she could deliver a fatal blow. Undoubtedly she had expected some kind of resistance or escape ploy, yet... It really looked like he'd suddenly blacked out, but there was no way she'd believe that! She snatched his collar and hauled him back up to his feet. "Don't you dare play dead with me!"Locke had already pulled in and concealed his aura, so of course Inverse couldn't notice the change until he slowly opened his eyes and met her's. They were a deep, empty black, like none other."... Spike." Her eyes narrowed. How was this even possible? If there'd been enough of the stuff in his system to take effect, there should have been no regaining control for at least several hours until it wore off, if the users could even manage that with the power placed on top. He must have somehow ripped Locke out, undoubtedly causing pain equally excruciating for both parties. This explained it though; no wonder the pet had fainted. Two's gaze lingered on her for a moment before he took greater interest in the corridor, as if the plain metal walls held more intrigue to him than his antagonist. Though he didn't show it, he was a little relieved by what he saw; it didn't look like his power had taken him on a one-way trip to the year 3000... Though he'd lost his sword, and got him stabbed. Sigh. The lack of attention certainly infuriated Inverse even more, and she would have been unrestrainable, if Two hadn't reached out his arm and summoned his weapon. It ripped through wall after wall until it returned to its owner's hand. Inverse stared hungrily at it for a moment. It was pure white, as if carved straight from the finest alabaster and bleached for a hundred years; it was so white that it shone, reflecting light like the moon. Not a trace of blood on it.Two didn't fail to notice the direction from which it came, but he was forced to focus on Inverse when she murmured something in Spanish- he thought he heard, "La Espada de la Victoria..." She searched his emotionless face. "A blade worthy of an Unnoen. But are you worthy of it? When you treat your power like that?" she attacked, and they were once again engaged in combat. "I don't think so!"It was then that Spike noticed the energy draining off him. He didn't know who or what had been timelocked, but he discarded them. He didn't like to rely on his power like that, nor did he care to worry over whatever trouble it had found.

Within moments of the sword inexplicably tearing itself out of the leader, she was freed from the paralysis. Without the immediate assistance of a healer, Eight would die."You have to release me and let me help her!" Bliss demanded. His feet were still frozen by the ice-power and he was too far away.Zan hesitated. Annabelle had made her sound dangerous. "And if she attacks me immediately afterward?" He didn't like to kill, or let die, but it could be for the best.Bliss had misgivings about this too. If this was his friend's doing... But; "Zan! This is about saving lives!" he shouted at the power."..." Zan allowed the ice to melt, and watched silently as Bliss placed a hand on Eight's wound and bathed it in glowing light. She wasn't the only one freed by Spike, either. Col looked around the office, only to see it was empty; Two's power had left. He walked over to the door and pressed both palms to its cold metal. Before long, it was a molten puddle on the ground. He walked right through it, ignoring the fact that it incinerated his shoes. It didn't take him long before he found rebels. Was this the power's game? he wondered, gritting his teeth as he quickly dealt with the group and moved on."Am I going to have to drag that thing back?" Voeing asked Chase, stretching. He shook his head. "Not if everything goes to plan."Hale came back through the wall, an unconscious Riley in tow. "He was already out. I guess Raid is having some trouble," he remarked, though shut up when Chase gave him a look.

Eight's body crumpled beneath her as soon as she was freed from the time lock, and she collapsed backwards, hitting the carpeted floor with a soft thud.A gasp of pain sounded from the Leader as her torso slammed onto the hard ground, and her face twisted in agony, clearly in deep pain. However, in the seconds before Bliss could get to the girl, a change happened to her pained demeanor. Her heavy, quick breathing evened, and the movement of her stomach rising and falling seemed to slow to time itself with the steady gush of red blood seeping onto the carpet. A few deep breaths came from Eight, and the mask of fear and agony faded from her face and was replaced with a more calm, peaceful look. Despite the fact that a hole in the stomach should've been causing a much more prolonged suffering, the Leader now looked as if she wasn't in any pain at all.She continued her eerily calm, dreamy staring contest with the ceiling tiles as Bliss came to heal her wound, not even giving a glance in his general direction, and giving off the impression that she'd somehow had passed out with her eyes still wide open.A good minute and a half passed by before Eight gave any sign of consciousness."...Do you like cotton candy?" Her question sounded like a bolt from the blue, and she asked the healer without actually ASKING him directly, as if she was still talking to the air above her."Really, I think they sell some here. It's good- you should try it! I think I had some, but I probably ate too much because my tummy hurts right now."Eight frowned slightly, her cloudy eyes looking at the tiles above with a confused light shining in them."My tummy hurts really bad~. I ate too much, I'm sure. I'm very sure..."She faded off again, growing quiet.-Deciding that now was the perfect time to set her plan into motion, Annabell pulled her knife from her sheath, and started to zone in on the Power carrying the unconscious Riley. She remembered her training, and remained completely silent, not even daring to breath, as she crept close enough to get in an attack. As soon as she got just few steps behind the rebel, she grabbed on Riley's dangling arm with one hand, turning him invisible while simultaneously lashing out with her weapon with the other, attempting to cut into the phasing-Power's shoulder. At the same time, she aimed a sound kick to the back of his knees, praying she could at least take down one Power before the rebels began to pursue her.

On seeing a girl with half her blood outside her body go on about candy floss, Zan sure had a strange expression."She's going through shock," Bliss explained to him patiently. "She's unable to properly process the pain and is trying to rationalize it... Really, it's very normal.""If you say so," Zan shrugged. "But from here, she looks like all kinds of crazy, and I'm really comfortable over here," he added, before the healer could make any smart suggestions.Bliss gave a slight smile of amusement, but was focused on the healing, until the ice-power realized;"Is she falling unconscious? No; what if that lets her power take over? We don't want a wild Feral attacking, or worse, a new recruit for team freedom!" Zan frowned."There isn't a choice; if she doesn't rest, she'll never make it," Bliss answered evenly, forcing the power to swallow his complaints and just wait."I imagined you... Different," Riley stared, seeing his power for the first time. His eyes were bottle green, not shamrock, and his hair was blonde (and also curlier) whereas Riley's was russet brown, but in all else the resemblance was more than unsettling. Riley contemplated if this was what it was like to have an identical twin, and was kind of relieved he'd got Alex instead, because this was freaky. The power was wearing some really strange clothes, but Riley couldn't properly look at them because if he did it might look like he was checking himself out, and he didn't want to appear so narcissistic infront of... Himself? This was too weird."How did you imagine me?" Raid cocked an eyebrow."Just different. More... Stalkerish. I mean, you're all about going through other people's minds..." he trailed off."... In my experience, stalkers don't tend to have any distinguishing features from the rest of your population..." the power replied cooly. He had a point there. "Okay..." Riley wondered about how you were meant to make conversation with your power. It was kind of being made difficult with the other guy acting so aloof. Was there even anything they were supposed to talk about, or should he just chill until he woke up again?

The phaser was caught completely on unawares. His ability was useless if he didn't see it coming. The next thing he knew, there was a sharp pain in his shoulder, and the person he'd been carrying had suddenly vanished; then he hit the ground and blacked out."Hale!" Voeing cried out, shocked by his sudden collapse. He seemed alive though; it couldn't be a Feral then..."Invisibility," Chase growled, and flashed to one end of the corridor, aiming to block the enemy's path. He couldn't see the person, but they were solid and they were still audible. He closed his eyes and listened."Uh," Voeing hovered anxiously by the big box. She'd been told to not let any harm come to it, so until Chase gave her knew orders, she supposed that was her priority. Still, she couldn't help but wonder about this invisible person. They hadn't killed Hale. Killing was something all the powers seemed to revel in, but Voeing wasn't sure she could be like that anymore. She didn't know why, but ever since she'd seen that crazy electric feral kill one of her comrades, she'd started feeling like-Voeing shook her head and snapped out of it.More of them. Col didn't move but let the powers come to him as with just one touch, his heat would burn all feeling from a person, and they would die. It wasn't a quick death, it wasn't a quiet death, and it wasn't painless until they were unfeeling and dead. But the hardest part for Col was sustaining his temperature at one level. If he cooled down, then he'd lose his weapon, but if he didn't, his temperature would continue to rise until he exploded, very literally. The reforming process was painful and took hours. If these had been ordinary Glaeroes, he might have lasted much longer, but they weren't. These were rebels. Powers. And they were called that for a reason. A blast of water shot by, at a speed so high it could practically slice you up; he'd only just managed to side-step in time. The air was beginning to grow thick with some kind of smog, no doubt poisonous.Col didn't really have any options but one. He narrowed his eyes. He had a fair number of rebels right here. His skin began to smolder and catch alight and the air surrounding him shimmered.Until, that is, a loud snort from behind made him pause. "Cool it, cowboy," she gave him a broad smirk. "I can handle it from here."

As the rebel tumbled forward, Riley's limp body fell with him, forcing Annabell to fight to keep herself from being dragged down with the unconscious two.She managed to grab hold of Riley's torso, pulling him towards her instead of letting him hit the ground along with the Power, but had to mentally apologize for almost tugging his arm out of his socket in the process. If she managed to get them both out of this alive and in one piece, the girl hoped her effort would be leverage enough for Riley to forgive her.Out of the corner of her eye, Annabell watched as the speed Power flashed down the hallway, effectively cutting off her first choice of exits. She exactly wasn't looking forward to fighting her way past that monster. With the sheer energy radiating from the rebel suffocating her, she knew any chance of her winning that battle would be due to pure luck, and she wasn't expecting the hallway to suddenly cave-in anytime soon. Also, was it just her imagination, or did the Power look...familiar?...No, she decided, she wouldn't be able to tell who it was in the first place anyway, with how animalistic and wild the boy looked now.Speaking of animalistic...was he...closing his eyes and listening for her?Annabell was suddenly plagued by gut-wrenching, terrifying flashbacks of all those nature documentaries where they showed the large hunters of the jungles using their senses to hunt down their prey... It made the girl shutter in fear, and afraid that the beating of her heart would betray her...However, she had to get moving, as she couldn't just stand around forever. Silently, Annabell slowly lifted Riley's body from the floor, and quickly discovered that her tall, lean frame was not exactly meant for carrying teenage boys like they were sacks of flour. Even if she did somehow manage to not collapse from the strain of carrying the Four, her foot falls would certainly echo heavier than they normally do, revealing her location.Still, a plan formed in her mind.Annabell swung Riley halfway over her shoulder, half supporting him, half dragging his feet across the floor, and pulled two throwing daggers from her belt. Although she was under practiced and not as accurate as she would liked to have been, the blades still sailed faithfully in the speed Power's general direction.Hopefully, they would provide a bit of a distraction as she turned to rush down the opposite corridor, trying to run-drag past the weaker looking, female Power.

"Rest?" Eight's voice suddenly piped up, catching only one word of the dialogue, "Why do I want to do that? There's just so much to do~!"As if to prove her point, the Leader attempted to sit up, with emphasize on "attempted". Her head barely got an inch off the ground before it sunk back to the floor, her whole body shaking with newfound pain.Eight seemed oblivious to the fact she was hurt however, and just frowned."Why does my tummy keep hurting?" she complained loudly to no one in particular, pouting."Why is it hurting so much? I don't remember anything bad happening to me here!"While it sounded clear on what the girl meant by "here", one could easily tell- perhaps because of her dreamy stares or maybe because she was once again trying to sit up again, oblivious to the effect it had on her- that "here" didn't mean the Falchion's base, IOD, or even that very moment in time and space. The way she said it, "here" seemed to have a whole other context to the Leader than it normally would have to any other person in her situation.Judging by the way her cloudy eyes stared up at the ceiling, Eight really wasn't there at all.

Back in the wrecked common room of the first division, Raven was scowling across the table at her personal superior and pain in the posterior, as he salivated in his sleep. She wasn't too proud to admit, when confronted with such irrefutable evidence, that there were better poker players than herself out there. But slobberworks here wasn't one of them. No, she wasn't going to sink so low as to say that any time soon. He was, however, better at cheating in poker than her. She could give him that.Normally she would have quit playing ages ago but for the lack of anything better to do.Sleeping was definitely not on the figurative list. Raven wanted to deal with jerkface going Feral even less than she wanted to deal with him generally. She flicked a card at his face to get his attention, before retreiving one of the Listener's knives which'd fallen near her feet. She weighed it in her hand, getting a feel for the balance. It was way too light and small for her tastes, but whatever. Beggars can't be choosers and all that jazz. If the guy didn't look lively, this would be the next thing she'd toss.".... To be honest, I imagined you different too," the power admitted, giving Riley a strange look."Uh, yeah?" the user prompted, suddenly starting to feel a little nervous of his power's expression. Riley knew his own face pretty well, but this expression was different. It looked... well."Yeah," Raid confirmed slowly. "I'd thought you were a little more..." his eyes narrowed and a wicked grin crept onto his face, "well, DEAD."It looked evil.

The card flew at Zach's face, hitting and then bouncing off of his head.A few seconds ticked by before the Five gave a small groan to signify he was awake."My God, can't a guy get a few minutes of shut eye around here without someone threatening his life?" Raven's looming threat of knife-throwing had caused Zach's power to rouse the young man from his slumber. He slowly lifted his head up, blinking and trying to adjust to the light. His eyes turned to Raven, and he raised an eyebrow at the knife in her hand."What were you planning to do with that, Shadow, cut my throat in my sleep?"He aimed his scathing remark at his assistant, undeniably cranky from being woken up from his first real nap since the Truce. Not that it had been a particularly restful sleep anyway.Dreams had come to him as soon as he drifted off to slumberland, which Zach considered odd, since he wasn't the type to get dreams easily. Even stranger were the visions themselves, as they hadn't been the run-of-the-mill crazy dreams that held no conceivable meaning. They were familiar, scarily realistic, and more like...Memories.A sudden realization dawning upon him, Five mentally groaned, resisting the urge to slam his skull onto the table. The flurry of confusing images floating through his sleeping subconscious did seem similar to when that Eight girl attempted to gather "blackmail" against him. Had the escaped mental patient messed up his mind somehow, shaking his memories around in his head like snow in a snow globe? Although Zach was aware he didn't have permanent brain trauma, intuition informed him that the Leader did, in fact, have something to do with his new memory problem. He made a mental note to go question the lunatic about it later, if the girl hadn't turned feral or anything, that is.While the Five pondered how to gather information from a crazy girl without resorting to heavy violence, he remained unaware that he had drifted off, and was now frowning at the table in front of him as if had did something wrong.
asi • 2 May 2013 at 7:22 AM
She grinned at his response, and said, in her obnoxious drawl, "Give the man a prize," before returning her attention to the far more worthy knife, as she began cleaning her nails with it.'Sleep and you die, jerkface!!' were Raven's thoughts and no person with eyes would need a Riley to tell them that.Hearing the 'whizz' in the air that could only be daggers, heading right at him, the cheetah's eyes snapped open in alarm. His arms blurred and the next instant he was holding both projectiles, and called out a warning to the greenhead girl; "Voeing.""U-uh..." She nodded a little shakily, and wiped her sweaty palms on the inside of her trankpant pockets before drawing her K-bar and distractedly sliding a palm down the sharp edge, so that her blood dripped down the blade, making the stuff rush through her veins all the faster.Voeing tried to assess her situation like she'd been trained to. The enemy was invisible and had the target in their possession. The box's width took a third of the space she had to block in the corridor, but her hearing was hopeless, so she'd never be able to detect the enemy like Chase might. There was also the possibility that the enemy may attempt to climb over the box... she thought nervously, as her eyes flitted this way and that, trying in vain to sense someone she knew she couldn't.
taffy789 • 2 May 2013 at 11:06 PM
Raven's comment brought Zach back to reality, and he lifted his head, vacantly watching as the girl used the blade to clean her fingernails. He HAD allowed himself to fall asleep, he mused. Which, considering their situation, happened to be a very bad thing.Although, the feeling that sleep depravation posed more of a threat to him his power taking over lingered in Five, and he choose to try to explain this to his assistant."...You know," Zach began conversationally, drumming his fingers on the metal table,"I think my power wouldn't take me over if it had the chance. It's just a feeling I get, but I think I'm right. The very idea just seems so..."He trailed off, searching for the right word.Illogical? Unlikely? Unreasonable?"...Stupid."Sometimes, the best descriptions were the simplest. Annabell aimed for a gap between the wall and Voeing, attempting to push right past the green haired rebel. The blonde noted the weapon the feral had, and made sure to try to prop Riley a bit higher in her arms, effectively turning him into a human shield.Considering her friend was already a member of the living dead, she reasoned, it couldn't get much worse than that.Annabell, on the other hand, hadn't died in any form or fashion, and dearly wished to keep it that way. Also, she doubted that, even if the Power did attack, she would be outmatched in a knife fight. What the invisible girl's main concern was at the moment was putting as much distance between her and the speed Power as possible...

"Yeah, well, call me paranoid, but I don't really fancy resting the chance of an attempt on my life up on your stupid feelings," she replied, then shrugged. "My power was a total bi-atch; I mean, even more than me- so I guess I'm biased."Muffled, but clearly destructive sounds could be heard through the steel walls. Serious fighting had to be taking place nearby."Speaking of stupidity; when you first came here," Raven said slowly, when they seemed to have all died down again, "they fed you some crap about war- political stuff or whatever. That this was like a secret world war three or something. But that's obviously a load of bull, so; why do you think we're really here? I mean, why did the wacko government guys or whoever's in charge of this whole somosh drop us out here in the first place? To die? It sounds like a heck of a lot of effort to go to just to get rid of us; like, what happened to gas camps? What's the purpose of this?" she shook her head, smiling ruefully. "Ugh, I feel like an idiot kid, asking the meaning of life.""..." Riley looked at his power and said nothing."..." The power's smile fell, and he tilted his head from side to side. "You... Really have no idea what's going on, do you?""Care to explain?" Riley asked, with some amusement.Raid thought about it for a few seconds, made a motion as if to look at a wristwatch (which he didn't have), then gave a long sigh. "Alright, whatever. Only because I can't stand seeing a person resembling me looking so pathetically ignorant," he explained irritably. "Sit down and listen." There wasn't exactly anything to sit on, but Riley patiently humored his power by mirroring the mid-water crosslegged pose.
taffy789 • 3 May 2013 at 11:31 PM
"Worse than you? I didn't think it possible." the boy shook his head, feigning disbelief, "I'd hate to meet her."He could've kept going with the dialogue, but Raven's sudden change of topics brought a small smirk to his face, as if the question she brought up amused him. Zach leaned against the back of the couch, working his way into a more comfortable position."Hmm, tough question there, Shadow." the Leader replied, turning his attention to picking at a stray string on his shirt, "I've heard plenty of ideas from others, though. One of the theorists had said that there are cameras hidden all around the island, filming everything that happens, and the government officials make a show of it all. The person added something about them gathering around the television every Saturday and watching the latest episodes while eating the souls of puppies or some crud like that." Zach shrugged, his voice even, and lifted his head up from his shirt."A bit far fetched, but, for some reason, I can picture it. A less bull one says that the cameras do exist, but the footage is used by scientists for research instead. Personally, that theory is pretty believable, as scientists are made of pure crazy. Now, if you're in for a feel-good bedtime story,"He paused, the slight trace of a smile on his lips, "Somebody once told me that they thought this isle was actually eternal torment itself. According to her, we were actually all dead souls who've committed terrible deeds in the past, and we were just sentenced to be stuck on this place, forever in an endless circle of despair and torture- or something along those lines, I'm paraphrasing here....But to be honest, Ifind this one to be the most creative."A short pause came shortly after, and then Zach moved yet again, returning to leaning forward on the table instead of back against the cushions. He lost what little a smirk he had as he concluded his opinion. "Apparently, however, I do not possess the same levels of artistry. I believe that we're still alive and stuck on this death trap just because the world is one big stinking pile of cow manure and that's just how it is. The government officials can do whatever the heck they want, let it be quickly ending the lives of kids or drawing out the deaths of young adults. I can't make sense of the reasoning behind it, and I'm not sure if I even want to. All I know is that it sucks, and there's nothing we can do about it. So," he gave a final sigh, "that's about it, really."
asi • 4 May 2013 at 6:21 AM
"Yeah; luckily, you remind me of her. Have you met you?" she teased him. These suggestions drew a slight smile to Raven's lips, and she tilted her head upwards and called out, "if you're watching this show, know that the puppies will have revenge on you!" and flipped her imaginary audience the bird. Then gave a deep sigh."One- uh, One-derful?" Col tripped over his tongue trying to catch his mistake and she facepalmed. One wasn't supposed to have their identity revealed... Ah.The rebel group was staring at the newcomer and muttering amongst themselves. The phrases like, 'the Falchions' One', and, 'is she for real?' could be heard."Ah, screw incognito!" she exclaimed, ripping a pink ribbon out of her hair and letting her locks fall loose in long, wavy brown ringlets. "That's right, punks," her mauve eyes grew dark and threatening as she stuck her hands on her hips. "What'cha gonna do about it, huh!"'Uh...' the powers sweatdropped. "What's with that attitude..?" the water-manipulating boy sounded unnerved. This absolutely minuscule, pixie-like, cute little girl looked like she was intending to thrash them all at once. And... Was that a Sailor Jupiter cosplay she was wearing? She ignored them, however, and strode up to Three, who was hunched over and breathing heavily, looking about to collapse- or rather, explode. He backed away when he saw her approach. "Don't come any closer! I'm burning up!"One only gave him a hard look, and told him; "Heat will not harm me, so long as I carry you." Then stepped forward and slung him over her tiny shoulder like he weighed no more than a rag doll.Everyone in the room, Col included, was absolutely dumbfounded by her ridiculous, totally out of proportion strength. That's when she turned her attention to the powers, meeting each and every one of their eyes."Kneel," she instructed them harshly. And they did so, all except the poison-power, who struggled, her entire frame shaking with the effort, but remained upright, her eyes wide with shock."I said... You will kneel, so long as you can hear me," One stared the girl down, until the power was overwhelmed and fell to her knees. One walked away. The poison-power found herself glued to the floor as if the earth's very gravity had turned on her, all until the very second the Falchion's footsteps faded out of hearing... On release, she merely sank further until she was lying against the cool metal floor, gasping for air, all her energy energy spent in her effort to resist.

Raven's actions amused Zach, if just a bit."Watch out, Shadow," he warned her in a mockingly serious tone, "you don't want to bite the hand, do you?"Silence persisted for a second after this, but then the sounds of battle happening a room away grew louder once again, the noise filling the conversation void.At the same time, Zach grimaced, his attention switching to a wall at their right, and a- for some odd reason, strengthened- sense of danger ran down his spine.Matching Raven's sigh, he stood, drawing a sword, eyes still trained on the wall."Really," he frowned, addressing his companion while not breaking his concentration,"these ferals are getting annoying. I just wish they would stop forcing me to kill them..."As if on cue, the wall broke apart, with a rather muscular-looking, super-strength Power tearing a hole through the metal. Zach didn't care to brace himself for a fight, for something told him that this Power wasn't what he should be worried about. The multiple bleeding wounds it had and the way the monster staggered confirmed this. When the Power took two steps before hitting the ground, dead, it only further proved his theory. The real threat climbed through the wall after its prey, and Five honestly felt surprised that he could identify who this feral used to be before it turned. Although the now gray-white, dry looking hair, pale skin, dark eyes, and the overall skeletal appearance did make a huge difference, the thing was clearly his one lesser, Six.Or, at least, used to be the Leader below him, as now the guy had been reduced to nothing more than an annoying vulture in Zach's book.Still, while the feral was an annoyance, it was a POWERFUL annoyance."Shadow? Care to use that knife for something other than threatening me?" Zach called out to his ally as the feral noticed the two and gave a small, sadistic smile.

Unfortunately for Annabell, the rebel girl chose that moment to preform a fast sweeping slash, and hit, clipping Riley's side and drawing blood. Now Voeing knew where they were, and she moved quickly to block the Falchion's path. And of course, Chase was now standing right behind Annabell. He tossed away behind him both of the latter's throwing daggers, in favor of reaching for his monster sword..."This knife has only one purpose; disposing of dirt!" she quipped, throwing it with unerring accuracy at the heart of what used to be Six. Unfortunately, it was barely ever that easy, and considering what the user's level had been... Raven was going to need a few more of these. She quickly ducked behind the couch to grab another."So what you're saying is..." Riley said slowly, "is that you tried to do away with me back at-""The place in the middle of nowhere. The perturbing house with perpetually insufficient lighting. Where you met snake-lady Jasmine and the rest," the power tried to explain.Riley frowned. "Raven mentioned something like that, but I don't remember...""That's probably because I do," Raid shrugged. "But I think /he/ must have double-crossed me somehow, because you're still alive...""He?" the user queried."Yeah, him," Raid smirked at his own deliberate vagueness. "Even if he did, I shouldn't sell him out... Though if he managed that without my seeing, then he couldn't have any trouble dealing with you.""Okay," Riley said warily."I don't know why I was suddenly drawn back to you, or how you're alive," the other continued. "But that's how it is.""But if you really hate all users like you say, then why are you so willing to tell me all this?""Because it doesn't matter what you know, Mael had already told me that this would happen, and though I didn't believe it, I made all of the necessary preparations... Oops, did I let a name slip?" Raid raised his eyebrows.".... I've never heard of that person," Riley answered assuredly."Really? Because look at what I found in your memories..." the power waved a hand and a phantom image of a person appeared, wavering in the water. "That looks an awful lot like him," he mused.Riley stared. The person was several years younger than he'd ever seen, or at least that he remembered seeing, but... That was Two."...That person is helping you?" Riley asked quietly, and Raid nodded."In fact, he gave us the cure. Really, it's all thanks to Mael," the power said easily.

Oh, Riley had gotten hit, Annabell realized, blinking. Well, she could always patch him up later, she assured herself.Currently, bigger problems took priority over the unconscious boy's wound...Like how the green-haired girl now blocked Annabell's path, and-A sudden chill sent shockwaves down the girl's back, the kind one gets when death itself breaths down your neck...She flipped around, her bright blue, invisible eyes widening at the fact they saw nothing but the wild, messy red hair of the stronger of her attackers. Somebody HAD been blowing air down her neck after all, and it might've well been death who did it...Well, Annabell wasn't about to get a sword run through her without a fight. The training she received- not from the government, but from those self-defense classes she took before she even knew about her power- race in her mind, telling her what to do. She took a single step backwards, to give herself some room, before viciously swinging her unseeable foot upwards, putting every ounce of power she could muster into kicking the speed Power right below the belt. The feral barely made an effort to dodge the knife- or even deflect it with the weapon he held- and instead moved to the side so the blade missed his heart and punctured his arm, sticking straight up in the flesh. Heregarded the intrusion with a slightly pained expression, but seemed to only be slightly annoyed by the wound as he tugged the weapon from the limb, drawing blood. His eyes now grinned with mad delight as they flickered to the still warm body of the feral on the ground, and Six's feral took in a deep breath, as if focusing.Zach watched the feral's actions, carefully noting how the monster's wound began to close on its own... With the amount of power emanating from the Power as it was, however, the Leader knew that Six's Power couldn't possibly be healing...perhaps something more sinister and deadly, their luck be it. Speaking of luck, it looked like it wasn't on Raven's side, as the feral keyed her out as his next target. Knife in one hand, and Dylan's old sickle in the other, the blood thirsty beast rushed at the girl, aiming a vengeful slash at her own arm.

"Ahhhaahhhh.... Voeing, you... Take care of this," Chase gasped, clutching his package with an expression of excrutiating pain on his face, before slumping to the ground, totally KO'd for the moment."Chase...!? Oh... Eh... heh... Ehehehe..." Once she'd realized what had just transpired, she clapped a hand over her mouth but couldn't keep in the silly giggles. Voeing knew that was supposed to seriously hurt males, but it was just so ridiculously funny... She'd never Chase defeated like that, it was so... So... Pathetically adorable! However, she quickly composed herself again. Voeing couldn't allow herself to lower her guard against this opponent, Chase was relying on her! She gripped her knife tigher, but still hesitated, sniffling; "I... I don't w-want to hurt anybody. I just want to l-leave with my friends..."She backed up a little to give herself space for a fight, however. But in doing so, she backed into the giant box and completely tripped head-over-heels backwards over it!The lid was knocked askew.Inside...My god, inside, was....Riley, looking exactly the same as he always did. Extraordinary in his ordinariness."HUH?" Voeing picked herself up from the floor with some difficulty, and stared at the perfectly unremarkable (though handsome) boy in the box, who could have been sleeping if he wasn't very obviously not breathing. "But, wasn't that," she looked wildly at where the invisible people should be, "wasn't this person over there?!"Raven managed to make the block even with the exceptionally tiny blade, just in time. However, she did so with the arm which had recently been broken, and the bone was still weak, not fully repaired. The sudden pressure when they clashed and against the monstorous strength the feral wielded, it didn't stand a chance. The bone in her arm simply shattered, and she yelled in wordless pain, dropping the knife and stumbling back to avoid his continued slash. Raven bit down hard on the inside of her cheek in a desperate attempt to distract herself from the pain, which was somewhat effective. She cradled her arm to her stomach and willed herself to stay sharp despite the increasing numbness spreading upwards from her damaged limb.If only she had her power, she wouldn't be in this kind of trouble! But she was here and it was lost for good.

Hearing the Power speak, Annabell got thrown off by how timid and frightened this "Voeing" sounded, as opposed to her more kill-hungry counterparts. Also, the spy thought as Voeing bumped into the coffin and sent everything crashing to the floor, the Power acted somewhat pathetic.A second later, the strange actions of the Power were completely discarded from her mind as the contents of the coffin were revealed to both of the girls.Annabell's words mirrored Voeing's thoughts exactly."Oh dear God." she gasped, eyes locked on the dead body of the very person who was still half-piggybacking on her shoulder. Her hands tightened around the Riley that she held's shirt sleeve, to assure herself that she hadn't been carrying thin air.Emotions such as shock, confusion, and surprised slammed into Annabell just to depart just as fast, and be replaced by only one feeling- deep pity. The dead guy sure had his own share of problems, didn't he? Depite his name, it sure didn't seem like he was living the life of Riley. The numb confusion still registering in her head, Annabell absently answered the Power's question, without thinking. "...Yep, that's him."She then, after shifting the boy on her back to a more comfortable position, she turned and ran full throttle down the opposite hall, by passing the in pain Chase. She figured that if she saved her own skin now, she would have enough time to freak out over the new development later, when she was perfectly save and not dead.

As soon as the feral lunged at Raven, Zach saw an opening. He rushed their attacker, his sword preparing to jab into the Power's side when something stopped him.Changing his blade's direction, he caught the rounded edge of the sickle a second before it would've slashed down on Raven's head, just in time.It took Zach a minute to realize what had happened. He hadn't been the one to decide to help his ally, well, not fully. His intuition had directed him to saving Raven, instead of going in for the simple kill. It was almost as if his power had been...directing him to protect her...Oh no.Zach turned to Raven, his face a wordless, angry glare in her direction. Why hadn't he notice it sooner? His power had done something like this once before. For some odd reason, his usually self-centered power sometimes picked up on the dangers that were threatening others, but this only occurred if Zach actually cared enough to know if they were in trouble. However, the baffling and utterly aggravating thing about his intuition sensing Raven's dangers was the fact that he wouldn't care if the girl burnt in heck, so why was his power the slightest bit concerned about her?!A sharp pain shooting through Zach's left arm recaptured his attention as the feral nicked the Leader with the dagger. The boy recoiled from the light blow, tugging his arm away from the monster, his anger and frustration with both his own power and the Power attacking him growing by the second. The feral grinned a wild smile as he managed to draw blood, and then switched targets, now turning his attention to swinging his weapon towards the boy instead of Raven.Zach knew a small, shallow cut on the arm wouldn't do much to stop him from fighting well, even if the fatigue he still had would. With a strong desire to end the fight as soon possible burning in his mind, the Leader locked blades with the Power, and the two engaged in fierce combat.

"What you did back there... That was no persausion," Col murmured, now resigned to being carried as the first leader of the Falchions marched down one of the many, virtually identical corridors of the base. "It was like you controlled the people back there. And you're invulnerable to heat?"She hesitated, and said nothing, her expression darkening."And your face... I know you," Col finally realized. "You were that girl back at the orphanage... No," he said, struck by lightning. "You're..."One strode several more meters before she realized he wasn't going to continue, his body had gone still against her, as if completely frozen, though the extreme heat still radiating off him said otherwise. "Yes, Col?" she pressed quietly. He now saw the girl with black hair, not brown, and eyes several shades deeper. "Ebony?" Three asked in a disbelieving whisper, naming his former teammate and girlfriend, who he had believed dead! The loud footfalls of Annabell's abscond dispelled Voeing from her disorientated daze. Her head snapped up and she immediately gave chase. She ought not to stray too far from the box, but Chase's last instruction had been to prioritize the target. She couldn't fail him by letting them get away! Voeing would tackle them if she had to.Raven couldn't miss the furious look Zach sent her way, having just had to pick up her slack yet again. She was low weapons, energy, ideas, and of course with no power to back her up, completely useless! She had hated her power, and taken for granted it's strength. Now without it...She forced herself to focus on the external battle at hand. Even if she had a hundred throwing-daggers, it probably wouldn't matter. They had proven to have next to no effect on this monster of a feral, but they probably would on Five. The way this was playing out, it would be very difficult to get a clear shot in any case. And though she was all for getting rid of the grating leader, it would suit her better if he could at least tire the feral out a bit more for her first.

Annabell made it halfway down the hall before screeching to a stop, realizing that the Power still trailed behind her, and was catching up fast. It was useless to try to outrun the girl while carrying Riley, and the boy was still bleeding, leaving a blood trail on the floor...Really, there was one option left.Annabell flipped around, pulling her large knife from her sheath, and took a slash at Voeing as the Power caught up to them. The ex-spy had wanted to avoid any unnecessary confrontation, but it seemed to her that the Power wasn't too keen on just letting her carry Riley away without a fight...The feral wasn't trying hard to land deadly blows, Zach noted while blocking another attack with a sword. The Leader noticed the monster seemed to be aiming to simply nick him with the knife instead of attempting to decapitate him with that sickle...While Zach found this behavior odd, he didn't bother to question it. After all, it only meant there was less for him to worry about, and boy, did he have a lot to be concerned about.Five could hear his own heavy, quick breath echoing in his ears, and despite the adrenaline of the battle that still flowed through him, he could feel his energy draining from him at a rapid pace. In fact, he resorted to drawing both of his swords, just to keep pace with blocking and returning the feral's lightning fast attacks.Even as Zach began to tire, however, Six's feral still looked as energized as ever. Perhaps even more so than before, if it was even possible.Five found the Power's endless stamina frustrating. He couldn't keep up the flurry of blocks and jabs forever. More of his energy seemed to ebb away by the second. Especially the area by the fresh cut on his arm, the entire limb felt oddly numb and lethargic...Wait, the cut... and his energy depleting... it could very well mean....Zach realized what Six's power had been a bit too late, as the feral took a risk and slammed into the tiring Leader, throwing him against a wall while knocking one of the blades from his hand and sending the sword spinning across the metal flooring. Five barely had enough time to recover his breath before the curved side of the sickle slid under his neck, pressing too close to the skin for any sort of comfort. He met the feral's wild, gleaming black voids for eyes, gave himself a minute to comprehend what had just happened, and then promptly cursed under his breath.

One shook her head slowly. "No, only two out of three I'm afraid, Col," she informed him. "I'm not your teammate. I'm-"She stopped when a sudden shudder came over Col, and he started coughing badly."Col? Are you okay?" she hesitated. "... Yeah," he shivered slightly again. "Just working on dropping my temperature, like you said."One frowned. She hadn't just said so, she'd commanded it. It should have happened already. Then a slight movement to her right caught One's eye, and she slid her gaze across to watch a single silver drop slip down the wall. Followed by more. She reached out and touched one, then stared at the liquid smear on her finger. The metal was melting. The knife only trailed across her skin, ripping clothing but not leaving a mark on Voeing's body. She felt it and stopped."S-sorry," the greenhead murmured apologetically. "My power's adaption, you can't hurt me like that now. Please, just-"She frowned as she felt a strange heat coming from further ahead. Voeing absently pressed a palm to the wall, expecting to feel the coolness of metal, and screamed in pain, yanking back her hand to find it red and blistering. The light was dim and flickering. What little there was cast shadows on the fierce battle-scars carved deep into the very metal walls. The sound of steel on steel echoed down this long, dark corridor. This battle was yet to reach its climax.Ten minutes into the duel and Verse reached back and gripped the cool, unyielding hilt."I've never used this sword before in battle," she drew it slowly. It was truly a fearsome weapon, sharp, thin and with a wicked gleam. "Only for killing," she charged. The clash of blades resonated once more, this time contact lingering as Inverse threw her weight in onto her sword, lending it to her already brutal strength, trying to force him back. That completely aloof, unaffected expression he wore... It made her blood boil. It was really as if he felt nothing at all. It was really as if... He was bored.

This might have driven her over the edge if she hadn't noticed with grim satisfaction that his arm was shaking slightly under her pressure. He'd had years to practice since they'd last fought, and Two was definitely stronger than her now, but it was nice to know he wasn't made out of metal. Or at least, not physically. She really had known teaspoons with greater emotion ranges. Still, if she couldn't beat him with force, it would have to be speed. He was fast, and combining that with his power, Two had never really had to worry about being out-paced. But he couldn't use his ability against her, and Inverse was smaller, lighter and younger than the male. The two traded blows with increasing speed, but Inverse noticed how he was barely moving more than was necessary; focusing on defense. In fact, if she had been less focused on killing him, she may have noticed Two had yet to actually initiate an attack. But she hadn't. "Worried about your precious little minions?" she called out as their swords locked again, scraping along the edges and sending sparks flying. "Is it time for their bottle-feeding?" she mocked. However, this only resulted in a minor change of expression which simply read; 'Immature'. This coming from the guy who had prevented her from growing up only served to further infuriate the power."I'll kill you," she hissed. "If it's the last thing I do."Spike broke through her guard, driving his sword into her side and then successfully pinning her against the wall. "Emotions," he chided, drawing free his blade for a final blow. That's when the base began shaking."INCOMING!" Raven yelled and didn't think twice; grabbing a chair and hurling it as hard and fast as possible one-handed straight at the feral's mug; certainly enough to leave a permanent chair-shaped impression."It's not working... Col, you have to relax!" she couldn't help but sound panicked as the air grew hazy with heat waves. She shifted him to meet his eyes, but they were closed, and so she shook him roughly. "Look at me! Snap out of it, you have to cool down!"A shiver ran through Three again. "I- I can't..." he murmured wearily, as if struggling just to stay awake. "It's not working! Can't- hold it-You..." he forced his eyes open. "Run."For seven seconds, the entire base trembled.

Annabell backed away from the Power as soon as it became clear that she couldn't hurt the girl with her weapon. Which meant that fighting was once again out of the question, and she was only left with the option to run... But how could she accomplish that when the Power was so keen on chasing her?  The sudden warm breeze blowing onto her face, similar to the warmth one feels when opening a oven door, answered her question for her. As Voeing dealt with her burnt hand, Annabell once again took off in the direction away from the strange heat, hoping that the warmth wasn't another wild feral raring for a fight. The sickle inches upwards, forcing Five onto his toes to prevent the blade from digging any deeper into his neck, and making it harder to breath, let alone move his arms.He wasn't in any immediate danger of dying, however. Just by staring into the feral's eyes, Zach could tell by that sadistic gleam that the Power wasn't going to kill him.No, that would be too easy.  The feral was going to keep him alive, cut him, and slowly drain his energy from him until he withered away to a dried husk- or, at least, something along those lines.  Zach kept his calm, trying to ignore the fact that the feral was breathing its rancid breath rather close to his face, and the other small annoyance of the knife that hovered near his arm, as if it was searching for a nice spot to attack and suck the life out of...  Six's feral turned towards Raven upon hearing her warning call, allowing the sickle to drop slightly from Zach's neck. The boy took advantage of this distraction, and jabbed his hand forward, the knife that he always hid in his sleeve plunging into the feral's side.  The feral flinched backwards in surprise, growled in pain, and retreated from the fight.  Zach smirked as the Power backed away from him, feeling pretty proud of his handiwork- a pride short lived, as Raven's projectile slammed into him in the next second, sending both the boy and the chair to the floor in a tangle of metal and now bruised limbs.Â

The feeling could be described as each and every single atomin his body trying to rip itself free, like they were magnets all with the same charge, all repelling with the force of a bullet. It could be described as such because that's exactly how it was. Every particle that made up Four was trying to tear itself apart, and you can be sure that it hurt like nothing else. He saw rather than felt himself crash to the ground, and tried desperately to hold himself together, buy One some time to get away. But he failed.Walls, floor, ceiling, all of steel. Those too close to the explosion were vaporized instantly; leaving behind a sphere five metres in diameter of nothing but dust and ash, falling so slow as to appear suspended, were there anyone left alive to watch. Around the crater, the walls had melted into molten silver puddles, only begining to resemble walls another ten metres out. It had not been intended to be very big an explosion, but the more it was held back, the more force it had gained. Anyone too close had been incinerated in a split-second. And others were still in danger, as fierce infernos raged down the corridors. Two had to close his eyes against the sudden blaze of white as the fire engulfed him in a whirlwind of heat and light. It passed in a flash but it was minutes before he dared release the pocket of time which had protected him. The slight smell of burnt rubber hit him after a step, but it wasn't hot enough to set his footwear alight, so he ignored it and went to pick up his sword. It was still cool to touch, unaffected by the flames. There was no sign of Inverse, no way of knowing whether she had died or somehow escaped. Two turned and walked away."No!" Voeing yelled. She didn't have time to think, all she knew was that her number one priority was the boy. Diving forwards, she flung herself infront if where she guessed the invisible person to be and shielded them with her own body, just as the fires reached them, blasting down the hallway faster than a bullet train.Raven couldn't help it; she giggled, loudly, and clamped a hand over her mouth to try and muffle the offending sound. When the very floor began to shake, her immediate assumption was that Zach's anger had reached Super Saiyan levels, and quickly tried to swallow her laughter, though she only succeeded in turning it into choking sounds.

Tugging his twisted arm out of the chair was both painful and somewhat humiliating, Zach bitterly admitted to himself.  The only good news, it seemed, was that, amid the shaking of the base, Six's feral decided to stop harassing the two, and had exited the room. Most likely, the feral had done this because it could already feel the effects of the poison Zach laced the knife with- it WAS a last resort, after all. Regrettably, he now wished he'd used stronger, deadlier poison, but really, keeping blades by your wrists is a dangerous idea in itself, and adding a lethal toxin to that danger is downright idiotic.   At least he could find comfort in the idea that the Power would be convulsing in a hall somewhere soon, trying to regain control of its limbs as they spasm uncontrollably. Finally, after pulling his final limb free of the chair, Zach sat himself against the wall behind him, and allowed himself to catch his breath and regain his lost energy before devoting the rest of his time to giving Raven the evil eye from across the room.  Even lost in the depths in her own mind, Eight was very aware of the shaking from her spot on the ground. "Hehehe~ This is a fun ride~." the Leader giggled, grinning from ear to ear. "So, so, so many fun rides~. All the pretty lights and noises, it's all so fun and bright!" She continued her crazed giggling, her eyes still swirling, glazed-over ponds that didn't seem to be registering reality.Â
