Flarekit scrambled up Highrock behind Hazelstripe and sat nicely beside him and started gromming himself. He then turned to Cherrykit, "You ready?" He asked slightly nervous.

Hazelstripe set Cherrykit down gently. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Highcliff!" he yowled.

Cherrykit breathed heavily with excitement.

Flakepaw and Leafbreeze padded over to the Highcliff, beaming and watching the two kits.

Flarekit shoke with excitment he was finally becoming an apprentice. His stomach churned he looked down at the warrior who was going to mentor him he thought.

"Cherrykit, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Hazelstripe asked.

"I do," came Cherrykit's shaky reply.

"Then I give you your new name as an apprentice of LionClan, Cherrypaw!" Hazelstripe yowled. He turned to Flarekit. "Flarekit, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" he asked.

Hazelstripe nodded proudly. "Then I give you your new name as an apprentice of LionClan, Flarepaw!" he yowled. "Now, it is time for you to have mentors... Ashfoot, I know you are very clever and strong, and will pass on everything you know to Cherrypaw," he said.

Cherrypaw's eyes brightened as she looked down at Ashfoot.

"And Flarepaw, I will pass on everything I know to you," he purred. He touched his muzzle to Flarepaw's shoulder.

Flarepaw grinned and touched noses with Hazelstripe,"I am excited to learn all you know and become a great warrior like you." He said then turned to Cherrypaw. "We are finally apprentices isn't it great?" He asked excitedly.

Hazelstripe grinned at the two apprentices. "May both of you serve your Clan well," he said, dipping his head.

When the ceremony was finished Flarekit walked over to Hazelstripe,"Thank you for chosing to mentor me. What will you teach me first?" He asked pratically bouncing.

"If you go out to the woods you'll see a huge tree with lots of long roots. On the roots and in between them are loads of moss," Hazelstripe explained. "Cherrypaw, why don't you go too?"

Cherrypaw nodded. She got up and headed off to the forest like he said.

Flarepaw followed her,"Wow we are finally apprentices but unlike most apprentices we have already fought for are clan." He said.


Leafpelt walked over to Hazelstripe, "Hi Hazelstripe so your becoming leader right." She said blushing.

Cherrypaw nodded. "Yeah, that is pretty strange..." she said, thinking about it. "It's kind of sad, too, though..."

"Yeah, soon I'm taking the trip to Highstones with Leafbreeze," he purred.

Cherrypaw began picking moss as well. She had a whole mouthful of it. "Wow, thish ish heavy," she mumbled through the big wad of moss.

Cherrypaw brought the moss to the elders, and then she fell over laughing. Getting moss for the elders was more fun than she thought it would be!

Hazelstripe shrugged, reddening a little himself. He NEVER blushed! "Well, I'm not THAT hungry... Sure," he said.

Flarepaw followed and then fell down laughing to he finally stopped and did the elders moss. "He looked at Cherrypaw, "Is your leg still bothering you?" He asked still slightly chuckling.


Leafpelt saw Hazelstripe slightly blush. She smiled and brought back a rabbit sat and took a bite. Then waited for Hazelstripe to take one.

Hazelstripe took a small bite, smiling. He looked around.

Leafbreeze was getting the bundles of herbs ready for the cats who were going on the trip.

"We should go... HUNTING!" Cherrypaw exclaimed. She'd always wanted to go hunting.

Hazelstripe took another bite, and then looked up to see Leafbreeze.

"The herbs are ready, Leafpelt, you eat some and I'll eat the others," Leafbreeze said.

Flarepaw beamed even more, "That isa great idea come on!" He said and ran out of the Elder's den.

Flarepaw started running out of camp when he stopped next to Hazelstripe, "We are going to go hunting." He told him then saw him staring at Leafpelt, "Someone has a crush." He said chuckling.

Leafpelt finished her herbs trying to get the taste out of her mouth by eating some rabbit.

Hazelstripe nudged Flarepaw. "You and Cherrypaw are the ones to talk," he said with a laugh.

Cherrypaw blushed wildly.

Leafbreeze got up. "Let's go!" she said.
