Balletninja's Rant - The Big Problem With Eggcave

I have trouble ranting on this, because I am part of the problem. I guess that makes it kinda hypocritical but it still bugs me nonetheless.

Unlike neopets, rare pets are never to be released again, correct?

I have noticed recently a trend of sorts, users keeping their rare pets when they quit and letting them (for a lack of a better term) rot. Now, I completely understand. It would be hard to let go of my first stage tine or my macbot. I worked so hard for them and I want to keep them forever.

But on the other hand it poses a problem. There will be a point where most to all rare pets have found their permanent home. That means eventually the macbot, doovoo, and onny will be unobtainable.

But my deal is if Ian does re-release people quit and if he doesn't then eggcave will slowly die. What do we do? Just let it run its course?

@balletninja That's why I'm thinking of changing my wishlist because it's basically impossible.

I was thinking of making us trade with Ian, but you know what? He can summon up all the Macbots, Doovoos etc IN THE WORLD.

I'm sitting on the fence with this. I really want things to be re-released, but yeah right. >.<"

Well, I see your point. People work so hard to get their creatures, so they can't bear to part with them...and when the oldies quit...a newbie just comes up and get them...its a waste of time and hard work...but I don't think that re-releases are the way to go...

@leafpelt Yeah, we need to reward the users that are still around with those creatures and make people still work for it. But they do still need to be in circulation so they can even be traded for.

What if they were re-released but recolored? IDK becaues then there's always the super-special-first-edition colored Macbot and then the less-rare new macbot... I just don't know lol

But I really don't want an argument. I'm the kind of person that likes to stand up for things, but I don't want such a huge argument that people have to take sides. ;_; But I hope Egg Cave will never come to that. However, we can't just ignore it forever. Good things always have an end.

And I also wish people wouldn't hoard up rare creatures like tines and onnies. It's not fair to other people who want them.
I've seen like.. 11 tines in one cove before. :/

I hoard. It is just too easy online, though I know I shouldn't because one died just today. I wish I knew which ones I just didn't need.

Just seeing that another user had a chance to get a Doovoo egg sort of bummed me out a little. 'Course, I got over it knowing she's not going to trade it off randomly.
It's just, I basically went insane for about a month or more just to get all a dozen+ Asteroid creatures to trade for my Doovoo egg...
If I saw that the Doovoo/Macbot were released once again, I'm afraid I might go balistic. Even 10,000CC wouldn't be much of a comfort if I do.


Now, if you put that in context for all the users who have a creature that they absolutely love or worked extremely hard for. Plus the fact that much of Egg Cave went on a rampage on Christmas for the Winter re-releases...?
That may just translate into a quitting fever plague even if you try to compensate for their losses.

Ok I do not agree, People work hard to collect their rares, if they have more than 1 or more than 2 or 3 they even worked harder, just because they have a good cove doesnt mean that they are the problem of eggcave

Sigh... There isn't a solution though. And I don't think there ever will be.

I was thinking of quests, but surely someone will make a walkthrough if the quests were hard. If the quests were easy they wouldn't be worth rares.

@meg Some people DIDN'T work hard. Some people got lucky and joined whilst the rares were in the cave.

I agree. But I wouldn't want to give up my Tines if I quit, I worked hard for them and their names, and they actually have MEANING. Wow. I'm so original. Naming pixels after my love life.

But yeah. Like the hoarding thing, I wasn't trying to do that with Tines, I just wanted two. I'm pretty much happy with just having my Tines, but I have creatures on my side with meaning too. But, I do think everyone should be able to have a chance to get the creature they want.

But if Ian re-released the Onnies, Macbots, Doovoos, people would complain, quit, rant, because they traded so much for them for them to just be re-released, so that could create a problem. And I'd agree with them, most likely. But eventually, we'd all just go along with the idea like we did with the Foos, Florns, ect.

So honestly, I have absolutely no idea what could be done. I feel for you, Ian. :/

@leafpelt Yes, but it's a little unfair to see someone hoarding up like.. more than 20 rares, and then none of them are uft.
That would make the species unobtainable, almost. .__.
It would be unfair to a lot of people.

It isn't their fault, totally. Heck, I worked hard but that doesn't mean I am not a problem. We aren't thinking about the overall consequence. It is the system that is the problem more than any user.

@icymuffin Of course, I was mad as well. It just isn't working you know? If we just let it go on like this it can only last so long.

I don't see the problem? I've seen newbies that are just fine when they join, and a month later they have rares and stuff, That is the goal of eggcave..to work hard to make your cove. If you expect old users to just hand out there onnies doovoos and macbots its not going to happen.

@leafpelt I would only trade for maybe one or two in the first place. And yes, after an amount of time I would probably trade them. : P

@dawnie Ikr? I worked so hard for my tines, and macbots, doovoo, and other rares. They have so much value to me. To just give them away is impossible.

I just don't know how to fix it :,(
