The squid creeped up to her shoulder as she watched as a girl tried to force wine on one of the guys. She felt like she was staring, so she lowered her eyes to the glass of water she had grabbed off a waitress's tray. She watched as it swirled under her control. Practice... that was all she needed, really.

As Phoebe leaned back in her chair before the dinner, she reflected on the interview, and decided it had been a success.

Upon her arrival, the crowd had not yet figured out what type of animal she carried with her. When the one she cradled in her arms was awakened by the applause, one of the spectator woman found it fit to shriek, "It's a BAT!" That had caused quite the ruckus for a full minute or two. As the bats weren't very large (they had a thirty centimeter wingspan), she had taken two with her. She'd answered her questions gracefully, she hoped, if a bit timidly. The entire process was concluded with a demonstration of her echolocation abilities followed by a sort of photoshoot. A particular pose stuck out to her, when one of the two bats had found its way onto her neck and had embedded its tiny paws into her hair. She had angled her head as if to try and look at it, while the other bat dangled from her bent arm with its wings extended. There had been quite a flash of cameras. She was sure someone had gotten that shot.

The zoo staff had not yet come to take her animals away, and she wondered if she might accomplish a bit of mischief while she had the chance. Her eyes wandered to Jamie.

Dania's interview was terrible. The squid (which she had named Shakespeare) had squirted the interviewer with ink and he had a pretty low opinion of her by the end of it.

She watched as Shakespeare dangled from her arm like a bizarre sloth. She wished she could keep him. He was so cute in his own creepy way. She didn't want to give him back.

It was probably for the best though, wasn't it? There were several tough competitors and she wasn't good at all. The best she could hope for would be to join an alliance and at least survive until they began to turn on each other. She would be the first to go that way.

Trouble was, she hated talking to people.

Jasper hesitantly followed Alex. He was nervous about this. Interviews were.... Intense. Finally, when it was Jasper's turn, he was dreading this.

After the interveiw, it wasn't so bad. The spokesperson had eased the tension and it seemed easier than he thought.

Dania began to watch the two with the wine again. It was hard to think they would all be fighting each other. No way she would survive...

Shakespeare was cuddled up in her lap now. What a cutie.

She wondered if she should make an alliance with the boy and girl with the wine. She knew that if they did let her join, she would be expendable. That was okay.

She was too shy, though, so she just kept staring in their direction.

Grace finally finished her interview. She and her horse walked off the stage. It hadn't gone too bad. Overall, it was an average interview. That was fine for her.

She walked to the dining area and sat at her assigned place. While looking around at the table, her eyes first saw wine. 'Wine?' she thought. 'Are they trying to make us drunk?' She made a vow to herself that she wouldn't touch a drop of it.

Skylar went to her interview, her panther cub following gracfully behind her. At first many people didnt bother to look at Zorba, but then out from the crowd someone said loudly "What kind of animal is that?!" But Skylar only smiled "He is very rare, he is a southwestern WHITE panther" She had said to the crowd as she picked him up "Ohhhh Ahhhhh" The crowd said. The men began to take like a billon pictures...



Skylar had seen a few, overall her favorate was the one where Zorba was playing in her hair and another were he had curled on the top of her head. She walked out and into the dining room. There was wiskey and alot of drunk people, Skylar shrugged and sat down.

Phoebe was toying with the idea of getting up and walking around when the dark, quiet boy took the seat next to her. She glanced up for a brief moment, her grey eyes shining against the orange glow of the candles, before she lowered them once more. Her fingers danced absentmindedly over the table, brushing against each silver eating utensil and crystal glass. When she reached it, she plucked the wine glass from its stem like a flower, and turned it upside-down onto the table. Drinking before such a dangerous affair would be completely inappropriate, even if part of her desperately wanted to.

As her eyes fell on the dark boy for a second time, a limp sigh escaped her lips. She was still in need of an alliance, and even if she decided to go it alone, friends were not a bad idea. "How did your interview go?" she asked softly. Her hands had fallen to her lap, where she pet the coarse fur of the bats. They had been raised by humans, the trainer told her, which made them quite agreeable.

Kenny took a sip of the wine, and felt it burn down his throat. Hr finished the rest and started eating as a servant came to refill the glass. He turned and watched Phoebe sit down and pour her drink on the table. Servants immediately began to clean the mess. He looked down at hr lap where the bats were and then said,"Yes. It was fine other then the fact that my lion nearly bit the interviewers arm off."

@bunnyshadow The glass was empty. XD She's not going to pour a full glass of wine onto a white tablecloth.

EDIT: Buuut, I guess you wouldn't know that. ^^; In fancy parties, if you're of drinking age, your place will be set with a glass. There will either be a pitcher/decanter of wine on the table that you can pour from yourself, or serving people will walk around with a bottle and ask you if you'd like some.

Kenny looked over to see Phoebe turn her glass upside down. He looked at his own, which had been recently filled to the brim. "Fine.", he said. He took his glass and took a long drink from it before putting it down. He'd drink now and deal with the headaches tommorow.

Phoebe examined him for a long moment before responding. He was drinking quite liberally, which she took to mean that he had a rash nature (or possibly just partied too much.) He had chosen a lion as an interview animal, despite its blatantly violent nature. Perhaps, she thought to herself, this wasn't the kind of boy she would get involved with. "He couldn't have been happy with that," she finally replied, softly and musically.

Phoebe lightly shook her head. The layered ends of her hair shifted slightly as the effects of the hairspray began to fade. "I need a clear head for tomorrow," she murmured in reply. A server came by with a pitcher of water, and with a slight tip of her hand she asked him to fill her glass. A dull hungry feeling had begun to settle itself in her stomach, after the excitement from the interview had gone away. She wondered when they would be served.

A small bell rang, and servants appeared carrying steaming plates of turkey, roast beef, steak, bowls of fruit, pitchers of juice and more exotic foods.

Kenny watched as they set the food down. He nodded in reply, then added,"Are you afraid?" He drank the rest of the wine from the glass in a single gulp.

It seemed as if all the boys here were drinking wine/beer, except Jasper. It must be a trap, so people who have hangovers or something are going to die more easily....if they have the games tomorrow. Maybe it won't hurt to try a little. No, Jasper decided.
