Joseph didn't move and continued to sleep.

Alex pointed at a bow and a sword, "I use the bow and the sword." She then picked the up.

Jamie was off searching for a weapon that fit her.

"Thanks," Grace said. She shot the arrow and shot it at the bullseye. It dug out some chunks of wood with the added spikes. "Great!" She suddenly groaned. "Now everyone has a bow," she sighed. "I must be very popular."

Sylvia sat on the wooden cabinet next to the bed and put her hands on his shoulder. She shook him and said. "Hey. Wake up"

"Breakfast...", Sylvia said. She poked his cheek. "Get dressed and head for the dining room on the third floor. Some people have already finished and are already in the training center."

Sylvia nodded.

Selena picked up an dagger and slashed at a nearby dummy. Bits of cloth fell to the ground with cotton in a flurry as the dagger cut through the skin.

Phoebe had risen earlier than the others, sensing the approaching staff from the moment they entered the hallway to their rooms. She'd eaten a lonely breakfast of fruit and cold cereal before journeying down toward the training hall.

She'd surveyed the weapons, savoring the calm of the cold room before the others had arrived. Unable to make up her mind, she'd found a treadmill and run for about an hour. Now, a bit tired but wound up with adrenaline and endorphins, she had come back to select a weapon.

Swords and axes were too heavy to lug around efficiently, she decided. They'd make running and climbing difficult. She didn't know how to use a bow properly, and decided that three days wasn't nearly enough time to learn. Finally, she plucked a hunting knife from a table, and gave it an experimental slash through the air. It was about a foot in length, with a vicious serrated back edge and a wickedly sharp front edge. It was lightweight, small enough to strap to her arm or leg, and it didn't make much noise.

Noticing Alex a little ways over, she figured that she could work on her potential alliance. "Hello," she greeted softly, though it sounded as if she was speaking from right next to her.

Alex looked up as she noticed Phoebe and nodded, "Hey," she said before letting an arrow loose right above Phoebe's head. She then swung the aross her shoulders and walked over. She gazed at the hunting knife in her hand and then smiled at Phoebe. She the leaned on her sword and asked, "So are you ready for the games?" Her voice was its usual calm but her eyes darted around as if she thought someone might try and sneak up on her. She wouldn't put it past Jamie to try and murder her before the games started. Alex noticed Jamie standing a distance away and relaxed a little but still was ready if Jamie tried to attack. She then looked away from Jamie and smiled at Phoebe, she then waited for her answer.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be," Phoebe responded. Her tone just barely brushed upon humor, as if she had not intended it but perhaps her subconscious had detected its presence. Phoebe was not a talented comedian. "We could practice hand-to-hand fighting."

Noticing Alex's eyes wandering, Phoebe looked away as well only to notice Jamie a ways off. Jamie didn't seem to be looking at them, which Phoebe took as a good sign. Had she been a bolder person, she would have made some attempt to intimidate the other girl--lick the edge of the knife, make a throat-cutting motion, cast a harsh glare--but as is, all she could do was avert her eyes and utter half a sigh. "How long have you known archery?" she added, wondering where all the other kids seemed to have learned their skills. Certainly no one she'd ever gone to school or work with had ever known how to use a bow.

Alex smiled, "My brother and me taught each other." Her gaze then turned cloudy and distant but she quickly came back to Earth and she said, "So do you know how to use a hunter's knife?" She drew her sword, it's blade was pitch black and the hilt was made of leather and silver. Studded into the hilt were two rubies and two emeralds. She then laid the bow and quiver of arrows down and got into a fighting stance, "If you want to do a little hand-to-hand combat then we can." She said her voice sounded calm still.

Selena dropped the dagger on the ground. Useless. It didn't match her. She searched through the pile again to come up with a bow and arrows. She took an arrow and put it in it's position on the bow. Suddenly, right before she shot it at a red and white target, ice flickered down the arrow making dangerously sharp barbs. She let it fly and it hit the target but missed the bullseye. She pulled it out and saw an jagged indentation. She frowned and dropped the bow and arrow. It still didn't seem right.

Kenny stepped into the large training room and looked around, expressionless. He scanned the room and saw Phoebe and Alex. He sat down on a bench in a dark, secluded corner.

Phoebe's calm expression shifted just slightly into one of calm confusion. "Where did the two of you find the equipment?" She still couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that at least three of the supernatural youths among them had had both the time, equipment, and instruction to be able to use a bow in combat. Where would anyone find that kind of thing in the modern era? How much did lessons cost?

Realizing she was becoming a bit obsessive (and perhaps a bit frustrated?), Phoebe willed herself to calm down. "I've used a kitchen knife," she explained, voice just barely hinting at a joke again, "and a machete. I think it's something in between the two." She watched with slight confusion as Alex drew her sword. It looked enormously expensive, studded with what appeared to be genuine jewels, with a silvery-colored hilt and a leather wrap. Weren't swords typically made of steel? she thought, wondering what on earth it was supposed to be made of. She could not recall a single black metal, especially one that was strong enough to forge into weapons. How much money are they spending on these weapons? she thought to herself, wondering exactly how absurd these people were. And who, exactly, had taken fencing lessons?

Attempting to shake her distracted thoughts away, she took a fighting stance as well, shifting to a back-handed grip on the knife.

Alex nodded and laughed at Phoebe's questions before she said, "We carved our own bows and we made our own arrows. They were crude but they taught us the basics and then we swiped good bows from a hunter. He was mad but never found out that we had stolen them." She noticed Phoebe's glance at her sword and said, "I used to be good friends with the daughter of a man who owned a weaponry. He sold all kinds of weapons and I found out that he made his own weapons. After a lot of begging I convinced him to make me a sword and he made me one. Though I provided him with the thing he used to make the blade and with the silver. Did I mention that I am quite the thief, I steal to keep my family happy." She said with a smile.

Phoebe nodded, her expression now completely blank. Within her own head, she demanded, "What kind of hunter still uses bows? Every one I've met uses a rifle!" But, as she was prone to do, she kept her mouth shut. She clenched her teeth to keep down a disbelieving sigh, her jaw shifting just slightly as she did so. Everything about this girl's story screamed of lies to her, and she suddenly began to doubt the alliance. Again recognizing the frustration welling up inside her, Phoebe decided she needed a break.

She had already begun to turn and walk away before she remembered to assure Alex, "I'll see you later." After that statement was out and her head was turned away, she was able to let out a sharp, silent sigh.

The boy she really wanted to find was Jasper. Phoebe had spent a long time thinking over the uses of her powers before she went to sleep, and decided that she'd sleep through the days and do her hunting by night. It didn't matter how little light there was to guide her path--she had her echolocation, which was as good as any night vision, and she could mute her steps. She could locate and take down enemies by dark, and they'd never see or hear her coming. Jasper, she imagined, had similar advantages with his shadow walking. Together, she imagined, they'd be formidable. She glanced about the training room for him.

Jasper practiced, flinging knives at the targets. It was easy. The thing that he excelled at. His worst things were tying knots and building a place to sleep and stuff. It was difficult, at least, to him.

Alex raised an eyebrow and then shrugged as Phoebe walked away. "Wow," she thought, "You tell somebody the truth and they just walk away." She then began to work on her knife throwing skills, which had never been her strong point. She wished she could learn how to in three days but that wasn't possible. She then decided to work with her powers, she though of a wolf and turned into a black wolf with red streaks in its fur and intelligent green eyes. She walked around passing people and watching their slightly confuse expression. She then turned into a sleek red furred lion. She then transformed back to normal and began to look for somebody to fight with. She saw Jasper and began to laugh as she walked over. "It's a good thing I know how to make beds out of leaves and stuff because you are pretty bad at that. At least you can throw knives I suck at that," she added as she stood in front of him.

Phoebe located Jasper near a set of targets. He was hurling knives at targets with remarkable accuracy. Taking a deep breath and putting on a metaphorical brave face (her expression still remained all but blank), she strode over. First she reached out, thinking to tap him on the shoulder, but immediately withdrew her fingers. She wouldn't want to startle him. "Hello," she said instead, softly, that hint of music touching her voice. He was already allied, she knew, but secret deals weren't entirely beneath her.

"Yup. I guess we make a pretty good team." Jasper said. He heard a soft, faint voice behind him and turned around. Her voice was kind of singingly. It was the girl from earlier that was talking to Alex yesterday.

"Hi." Jasper said.

Alex got into a kneeling position and began to make pick up leaves and a large stick. She then grabbed her sword and chopped away a large root. She then quickly dug dirt away with her hands. When she moved away there was a little alcove with soft green leaves lining it. A trainer yelled at her for messing up the cake tree but Alex pretty much ignored him.

Grace watches Selena go through some weapons. She soon decided she had already wasted time. She went over to a weapons person and requested something. The trainer molded and slipped on some armor. Grace took some regular arrows and began shooting at him as he ran around. She began running after him and rolling before shooting.

Jasper wondered how Alex did that. Whenever he did it, it still looked like the same as before. Or if he was lucky, it would look like a pile of leaves and sticks. He just couldn't get the shelter to stand up. Unless of couse, there won't be any gravity in the games..... but that will be unlikely.....

Selena gave up on these weapons. She prefered her own. She walked over to where Jasped and Phoebe were standing. "Hey.", she said quietly. She pulled out a silver spear with black jewels circling down the shaft. An sharp black piece of gem was on the tip. (Fear the expensive weapons 😈)

Sylvia headed towards the training center hoping Joseph would follow. "Your ssoooo slow D8"

Kenny stayed in his shadowy corner, examining everyone. His eyes flitted from contestant to contestant until they landed on Phoebe. He was still allyless.

Grace stopped shooting. She thanked the trainer, there was no reason not to be polite, acting or not, and he walked away. Grace decided to move on. Dagger time. She practiced throwing daggers at a target and watched Selena at the same time.
