I wouldn't call Margot's past tragic.

She was born in New Mexico right about when Loki completed his takeover. She technically had two older siblings who were teenagers when she was born, but the two of them were both killed in the invasion of Santa Fe, so she was raised as an only child. She does know about them, and her parents have shown her pictures. She's naturally really intelligent, and her parents tried to nurture it as much as possible by giving her books and lessons.

When she was eight she began working at a power plant just outside the town--children were being used to fix machines with small parts. She was proficient at this, and since a new electronics factory that was going up in Manhattan needed workers, she was transferred over there. She worked at that factory for nearly eight or nine years, up until the events of this roleplay. She has no idea how her parents are.

She's had a few romantic flings. Most of them ended quickly. Her only real relationship was with a guy named Rob when she was about sixteen. He was older, nineteen or twenty. Things ended when they had a fight one night and he went out into the streets to clear his head. A group of Chitauri found him out after curfew and beat him a little too hard as punishment; he bled out within a dumpster. All Margot knows is that they argued one night and he never came back.

Mine usualy end up tragical and stuff xD Half of them are either tragic in general or have tragic pasts, the other half is non-tragic xD

But most of them are evil or weird so that's why I make them wacko pasts to explain their weirdness xD Like Subutai! Or Ezra - my little maniacal witch 😸

Agreed. When I first started roleplaying I used to think that tragedy made characters interesting. However, my biggest problem with it is that people use tragedy as an excuse not to build a character; they have no personality outside of what has happened to them. Characters without tragedy are forced to genuinely form themselves. c: Your thoughts?

Hmm... well my idea for Aykay's past so far is her family was loyal to Loki, but she wasn't goin' for any of that so she ran away.

She looted buildings to find food (used her tiger nose a bit to sniff it out) and came across a map of the tunnels under Stark tower. She figured that maybe he was hiding out in there (she lived far enough away from the tower that she didn't know it was a hive) so she spent a couple weeks trying to find her way into the tower (the map had no labels) and eventually found her way in...

...only to be captured by the chitauri. She was imprisoned and spent some time bein tortured and crap like that. She saw a lot of peeps gettin' executed for rebellion. A lot of these people had taken up IronMan as a symbol. This convinced her of two things:

1. Loki must be stopped.
2. Iron Man wasn't going to come and save everyone.

I just don't do it a lot because most of the other characters in a roleplay tend to have tragic pasts. I also read something about Mary sues having tragic histories somewhere.

Instead of making a tragic past so you wouldn't have to make a personality, making a tragic past to explain the personality xD Ezra for sintance is completely psycho, going insane between pretending innocent and being a blood thirsty demon. And Loki had a tragic past as well - how else could he have ended up a villain? Not everybody uses tragedy as an excuse not to build a character ^^"

Subutai -
his entire race is annihilated by Loki, so he takes in Bashinda because she was his dead sister's age. He treated her badly because he realized she would never be his sister.

Bashinda -
Found alone, abandoned by her parents in the middle of some ruins, but without a scratch, since she has super strenght. Raised by the cold Subutai.

Ezra -
Born to forever hate and kill, never to find true love. At one point she lost her mind in all the fake pretending

Wolfie -
Turned into a wolf at a young age, spent his entire life as a canine. Brutally trained to fight and murder.

Aizel -
A street rat throughout her entire life. Makes a living from fighting and killing (head huntr of some sort). Nihilist - doesn't care if she lives or dies. Has not trusted a single person in her life, much less loved. Stupid and uneducated - doesn't know how to read or write, neither does she know how to count.

Frost -
She lost everything to Loki. Because of this, she uses a facade of no emotion to hide what she really thinks. She lives in the streets, but will do practically anything for books, to improve her strategy in battle. She has feelings though, and she knows that she'll go insane if she loses control of them. She values wisdom, and hates people like Erza. Oh...she can't cook. At all. And she could improve on math.

Zoe/Jake -
Same past as frost, but they faced it together. They have brains, but they use it in other parts...like matchmaking. They are much more lighthearted than Frost, and they always try to make it the same for others.

Aykay-
