Alex was very confused now, she often got confused at simple things. "Wait, what do you mean by 'looking for a friend'?" Sha asked the girl with an expression that expressed confusion. She continued to go over what the girl had said in her head but couldn't decide on what she meant. She furrowed her eyebrows like she always did when she was thinking hard.

Shaula looked at the woman curiously. "Don't mind if I do!" she laughed as she began to look around. She glanced at the new girl. "Hello! I'm Shaula! Who are you?" she asked.

It was the blonde girl's turn to look confused. She continued to smile, though her eyes expressed a measure of uncertainty. "Did you come here because you wanted a friend?" she rephrased carefully, and then glanced up at the paint on the face of the tent.

Her smile was renewed with Shaula's agreement, but this time her lips parted to reveal a row of white teeth. "Fantastic!" she murmured, glancing down toward the brass kettle and spoon, as if to make sure it was still there. She opened her mouth to reply to Shaula's second question, but then realized it wasn't meant for her, and abruptly shut her mouth. "The first thing you need to do," she said with slight embarrassment, "is to pick one of these stones." She gestured at the bowl.

Alex understood now, "Oh, I thought you were asking me if I was looking for one of my friends." She said and then nodded, "Then the answer is yes, friends are a great thing to have," she said to the blonde girl with a friendly smile. She tuners to the other girl and said, "Hi, my name is Alex." She extended a hand towards the girl in a friendly gesture.

The blonde girl nodded and smiled, seeming pleased to have cleared up any confusion. "Friends are a great thing to have! But I can only do this one at a time, so you'll have to wait until Shaula here is done. In the meantime, you're welcome to stay and watch." Her gaze floated expectantly back to Shaula.

"Hmmm..." Shaula thought. "I want this red stone, please." she pointed. "Ummm... What exactly do you make here?" she asked.

"That's a carnelian," she responded brightly, plucking the red stone from the bowl. With quick, sprightly movements, she brought the stone to her lips, placed upon it a little kiss, and tossed it into the brass kettle. It landed with a pleasant ringing sound before rolling around the curved basin. "Friends!" she then replied to Shaula with renewed vigor. "I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise," she added meekly, with a little wink. "Next you have to pick one of these plants."

Shaula twirled her hair in her fingers. "Hmmm... These poppies look rather nice." Shaula stated. "Maybe that would be good?" She cracked her knuckles.

The blonde girl cringed just slightly as Shaula cracked her knuckles, but an apologetic smile appeared quickly. She plucked a red poppy from the rack and dropped it over the kettle, allowing it to float down. "So these are perfume bottles," she continued, her fingers floating over them. "You can pick one or two. You could also smell them before choosing, if you like."

Shaula picked each one up and identified the smell/ She sniffed the first one. It smelled like mint. She shook her head. Then she sniffed the second one. Vanilla. 'Too sweet.' she thought. She sniffed the third one. Rosemary. She crinkled her nose in disgust, Shaula had never liked rosemary. She then proceeded to sniff the next one. Lemongrass. 'Not bad, but it could be better...' she thought. She sniffed the second to the last one. 'Clove!' she thought happily.

"I'd like the clove, please." Shaula said.

"Okay then," she replied, taking the crystal bottle from Shaula. From under the desk, she retrieved a small dropper, and used it to transfer three drops of the perfume from the bottle and into the kettle. "Whenever I want my kitchen to smell good," she said as she did this, "I stuff clove into oranges and put them on the counters. They just smell wonderful." With a gentle clink, she brought the perfume bottle back to the table. "Last but not least, I'm going to need you to pick just one of these," she said, tapping twice on the glass face of the wooden case.

Shaula looked down at the case. "Hmmmmm..." she thought, her eyes glancing over everything. Almost immediately, a small handful of orange feathers caught her eyes. "I like those." she said, tapping the case.

"Feathers it is," the blonde girl responded, not sounding all too surprised. From the front pocket of her apron, she retrieved a little gold key, no more than three centimeters long. With it, she unlocked the case, and took two of the orange feathers from it. These she dropped into the kettle, allowing them to settle as she secured the lock on the case and dropped the key back into her apron.

Small tendrils of grey smoke began to rise up from the kettle. Seeming pleased, the blonde girl picked up the long-handled wooden spoon and spun the contents of the kettle around three times clockwise. It began to smoke more profusely, but the girl stilled the mixture with her spoon.

"One hair," she instructed, holding out her palm. "Or, well, you could spit in it or something. But hair is the cleanest."

(PS: I'm going to edit the first post to fix an idea I had for Elly's character. X3 It's cool, and I think will help with devolpmemt. 😸 )


Elly searched the countless streets and booths intill she found the "Hippie Tent" that sort of matched the Preps vague description of the place.
There was a thin strand of smoke wafting out into the street from deep within the tent, but most bystanders on the street took no notice of it.
Another thing that caught Elly's eye was the "free friends" sign posted on the outside of the tent.
A bit more wary now, Elly took the first few steps inside the tent.
The first thing that caught her eyes was the bowl of crystals set upon the table.
Delighted, Elly picked up the first crystal, a Pink Rose, and tried to recall it's healing properties...
'Uh... Heals heartbreaks and aches.' Elly thought to herself.
Though maybe it wasn't the exact thing she needed help with...

"Cover your nose!" the blonde girl advised, carefully taking the hair from Shaula and placing it in the mouth of the spoon. With swift, precise movements, she brought the spoon back into the kettle, stirred three more times, and then set the spoon onto the table. As soon as the hair contacted the mixture it let out another puff of smoke, this one colored slightly red and scented of clove (and singed hair).

With a sweeping motion, she crouched low to the ground and flipped the kettle completely over. This was done so quickly that none of the contents of the kettle were able to spill out. Then, she placed a foot on the flat bottom of the kettle, and said, "Please count to ten."

Yet another girl had approached the stand, and was now examining the bowl of gemstones. "I'll be with you in just a minute!" she assured the girl with a gentle smile.

"Oh... Okay!" Shaula smiled. "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" she counted. She quickly covered her nose and closed her eyes.

The blonde girl counted silently in her head as Shaula announced the numbers. After they had reached one, she gripped the handles of the kettle and lifted it from the ground.

Lying where the kettle had been was a larger version of the carnelian stone they had seen earlier. It was a good ten centimeters long, and curved like a chicken egg. The faint smell of clove lingered in the air around it, warm and spicy.

The blonde girl stared down at it for a moment, biting her lower lip. Then she seemed to remember what she was trying to think of. "You can pick it up now," she instructed, "and close it up in your hands. It should only take a few seconds if your hands are nice and warm."

Shaula looked at it in awe. "Wh- What is this?" she asked. She touched the egg. "It's so warm..." she said. She picked it up and gasped.

"What happened? Excuse me... But -- Are you a witch?" she asked.

"Hold it tightly," she urged. "Make sure to keep it warm." After Shaula had picked up the stone, she moved the kettle back to its original position and placed the spoon across it once more. Her eyes darted up every so often, waiting for a change in the small stone.

"It should only be a few more seconds," she assured her with a bright smile. "And . . . " Her voice trailed off and she laughed. "I suppose you could say that, yes. Not the Harry Potter kind of witch. More in an old-fashioned sense."

"Magic!" she responded brightly, leaning forward as if it might give her a better view of the proceedings. "Just now we performed a summoning-binding. It's exactly what it sounds like."

The stone vibrated for a second. A slight tapping sound could be felt coming from the inside, along with a growing warmth.

Elly glanced over as the woman noticed her, and wondered if she saw her hands few of the small crystals.
Very carefully, she set the crystals back in their bowl, and decided to wait for the woman to come talk to her about the "frees friends" thing.

Shaula stared at the stone for a second. "What is this tapping sound?" she asked. It began to grow very hot. "Ow!" she yelped. "It's super hot!"

The tapping became more persistent before, suddenly, a little flake of the stone's surface came loose. The structure was hollow. Like the sudden opening of an oven, hot air rushed from the gap. A small black beak wedged the flake of shell completely away, and then opened to let out a little twitter. It took a while more for the creature within to completely emerge.

The pure heat radiating from the little creature's body seemed to have done away with most of the muck one would usually find in an egg. It was a little bird, with an inquisitive face and lively round, black eyes. Its legs were long enough for proper walking, and its toes looked just as comfortable perching as hopping about. Dense, plush feathers covered its body. They were lighter on its belly, a sort of warm orange-yellow, though its back and the top half of its face were a deep red. It had a little feather crest, roughly triangular in shape, almost like a party hat. A little orange band sat right above its black beak, and its humble wings were edged with black. The creature chirped and rustled its wings.

The blonde girl observed this with a broad smile. She turned to the other two girls at the stand, trying to remember which one of them had appeared first--she'd gotten so caught up in all of the excitement. "Who's next?"

Appearance: Scruffy black hair with a fringe that hangs over and partially covers up his black almond-shaped eyes. Olive skin. Tall and lanky with a light build. Wears black rectangular framed glasses which constantly slip off his nose.
Personality: Rather shy and anti social. He is a hard working diligent student at school and prefers his education over socialising. He seeks knowledge for knowledge's sake. He has an uncontrollable sense of curiosity. He dislikes hyperactive children.
Other: He has a passion for fantasy. And a soft spot for animals.

Alex had barely been paying attention to the lady, she had a very short attention span. As the bird appeared though her eyes had widened and she said, "What the heck just happened there?" She backed up a little and knocked something in a little glass bottle over and it got all over the floor. Alex let out a nervous laugh, "Whoops." She hoped that the lady wouldn't get mad ad use her magic on Alex.

On his rusty bike, Dylan pedalled as fast as he could along the street. The large crowd streamed against him like a raging river and it took great effort to dodge the people with on his bike. In front of his bike, there was a pile of books and he was on his way to the local library before it closed.

'It must be peak hour,' Dylan thought and came to the decision to take a break and wait for the crowd to die down. He swerved to the right to dodge an old lady and screeched to a halt beside a peculiar-looking tent. Panting to catch his breath, Dylan waited beside the queue for the tent and was going to continue on his journey when something caught his eye.

He turned to the tent just as the egg began to crack, and watched, mystified, as a bird-like creature hatched from it.

"What on earth?" He muttered, not daring to believe his eyes. He stood, transfixed at the sight and didn't even register the loosening grip on his bike before it crashed down onto the concrete pavement, surprising everyone with a loud crack.
