@balletninja

Rants are different from debates. A rant thread would be more ideal as it would be a place where people who like to rant and want to rant can spill all their opinions and problems there, instead of putting them in the main threads.

And I agree with @sunshinecat

@april__ Agreed, I ignore the rps, the trades, the begging threads, ect. It isn't hard to do with rants either.

@james-bond Take that up somewhere else, it is off topic. I was merely making a better suggestion than making a forum called: Rants. It sounds better to do Debates and causes.

@balletninja

There is no point of a debate thread as I said, it is clearly different from a rant.

Also, many people don't seem to know how to accept other's peoples opinions or debate in a mature manner.

@stellalunagirl You don't accept mine either.

But really, tell me the differences. I am listening.

@balletninja

I'm rather busy at the moment, feel free to take that statement however you like but for your information I AM busy. If you really want a reply I'll give you one, but right now I have more important things to do. 😊

@stellalunagirl *raises eyebrow* Okay, sure.

I think the only difference is research. But even today, with classroom debates, there is often a lack of research. Rants are a little more tirade-ish but I have heard many debates that can double as tirades. A debate and a rant come from the same stem and I don't think it would kill anyone to have a debate/causes thread rather than a rant thread.

Many, many, many sites have different areas for Rants, Debates, Pictures, etc. Keeps the peace and is what is needed on here. Not a foreign concept at all.

I do think people need to be aware you are not as anonymous as you think you are. Once you put anything on here it's for the whole world to see. Yes, Freedom of Speech is important and a right. Also, privacy and safety should be even higher.

Think before you post 😊

@april__ The pictures of me threads fit under this too I should say. They are attention seeking, unnecessary, and just looking for comments they can 'brush off and decline'. The forums are bein clogged with them. The last time I looked, there were 6 of these in the top of 'chitchat'. It's everywhere, making it hard to ignore. Same with rants. There should be an ignore setting.

@balletninja Debate is totally different to rants. Debate=discussion, formal, self control. Rant=statement, informal, can be rude and agressive, no self control, sympathy seeking, attention seeking. Debate already fits under discussion, and some debates fit under suggestions and ideas. If you link them, debates will turn sour because people think they're rants and post on them like they're rants.

@luvmykids244 I agree. I really worry about all those people posting pics of themselves here. I don't think they understand the full effects it may have on their future and lives.

I've read this over and over, and decided to give my opinion.

What people don't understand is that Eggcave is not the place to let off some steam. Yes, freedom of speech and all, but there is a time and place for everything, and Eggcave is not the right place to do it.

May I remind people that Eggcave is an Adoptable Site, not a guidance seeking website. Sure, go ahead and rant, but please be aware that other people around the world can see what you post, not just those the people you want to comfort you.

You can say you dislike something, sure, but if you truly hate something with all your guts (exaggerating), please talk about it in a proper way that doesn't bring out the negative energy; give suggestions on how to make it better, and be sure that the majority will like it, this site is not all about pleasing you.

So yeah, feel free to say what you want, but you have no right to violate/disturb the peace of other people.

Not accepting other people's opinions, ganging up on people, going grammar-[yeep] in a very condescending way, claiming people haven't read your arguments, even calling people rude for stating their unsugarcoated opposing opinion and claiming people with a different opinion should just go somewhere else. If using a certain tone doesn't make proponents rude, then it doesn't make someone else rude either. Others don't have to walk on eggshells just to state their opinion. Opposing opinions are just as valid as supporting ones, and can be just as frank and controversial as the original suggestion on this thread was.

I'm outta here, this thread gives me the creeps much more than any rant could.

@dionaea Your argument is incredibly exaggerated, if not just wrong in places.
No one is ganging up on anyone else, and if it appears that way it's because everyone is posting fast and at the same time.
Many times, people repeat arguments several times, showing they haven't read over the thread.
No one has said people with a different opinion should leave. Anyone can post and no one is being forced to leave.
And no, people are not being grammar-[yeep]. That is an over-statement. The occasional correction is not a reason to call people '[yeep]'.
I don't think we've been unfair to people with different opinions. Both sides have argued, and the other side has argued back. We both have that right.

@dionaea

I am sorry if I have offended you, but I think that if people were to propose opposing arguements they should do so properly. And yes, people have not read the counter-arguments.
And nobody called anybody rude because of unsugarcoated opinions, it is only because people bash our opinions and not state their arguments in a mature way.

That is what I find rude, not that they have frank opinions.

Also, I only suggested that people who get offended easily by this topic or my posts should not read them.
