Maple stepped back a little but she continued, "W-what has he done? H-he is trying to explain h-himmself, b-but you won't l-listen. He is just a p-pet, let him l-leave."

"The bordermark's scent is strong enough," Dinros growled. "He's had enough of a warning."

Maple shook her head, "He is just a p-pet. Pets don't have the s-same smarts that w-we have. He probably didn't t-think to check for a s-scent."

Maple sighed, "Just l-let him go, if he c-comes back you can k-kill him. Everything doesn't have to r-resort to v-violence."

"I don't have time for this," Dinros growled and shoved Maple away. He then leaped at Ash and bit his neck.

Ash was squirming beneath Dinros. "Get off of me!" he groaned, kicking at him.

Maple yelped in pain but she stood back up. She rushed over and shoved Dinros in the side with all her might. She looked at Ash, "Run!"

Ash ran off.

Dinros snarled and turned to Maple. "You traitor!" he growled. "Helping a HOUSE DOG!"

Maple looked at Dinros in fright and she began to slowly back up, "I am s-s-sorry, he wasn't doing anything w-wrong. He was just l-lost..."

"I should have your head for this," Dinros snarled quietly. "But I won't touch you. Go back to camp," he said.

Shaula stretched and yawned. She looked up at the sun. 'Oh gosh, I must have overslept!' she thought. 'Maybe I'll find Dinrose.'

Shaula left on her way to find Dinrose. After a brief walk, she finally found him. "Hi Dinrose!" she said cheerfully, but she saw that Dinrose looked a bit... Off. "Are you okay?" She saw the tension passing between Maple and Dinrose.

Maple nodded, "T-Thank you, sir." She shuffled away and modded at Shaula quickly before walking towards camp.

Dinros nodded to Shaula. "Yeah... I'm fine," he said. "I had to chase off a house dog. I was going to pound him, but then Maple came to his defense. He ran off." He then smiled at her. "And how are you?"

As Maple was walking towards camp, eyes flashed in the bush beside her. A loner stepped out.

Maple saw the loner and she froze. She crouched down and barred her fangs, she acted different then she had a moment ago, "Who are you?" She growled.

Shaula brushed her head against Dinrose's neck. "Stupid house dogs. Never respecting our boundaries." she growled.

Leaf was walking through the Pack of the Canyons calmly. She knew where she was but she didn't really care, she had avoided the Pack for this long so she wasn't worried.

"My name's Sapphire," the loner said cheerily. "What's your name?"

Dinros nodded, curling his lip. "It's the same thing for the loners. They don't know how to stay out of the territories, they don't respect borders..." His claws slid out. "But we'll show them someday," he ended, nuzzling Shaula's ear.

Lupin was padding through the forest when he scented a new wolf.

Maple's fur became flat again and she said slowly, "Uh, M-Maple." She said as her stutter came back.

Leaf smelled another wolf but she just ignored it, the scent could be says old.

Lupin began to stalk Leaf slowly and silently. He wouldn't hurt her, but he'd love to see her face when she was caught.

Maple nodded, "H-hello Sapphire, why are y-you in the Pack of the Canyons territory?"

Leaf smelled the scent again and it seemed fresher. Had a wolf just been here? She looked around and tried to find the direction that the scent came from. Her ears were perked for the sound of footsteps.

Sapphire's face fell. "Oh, this is a pack's territory?"

Lupin then leaped out and landed on Leaf. "Gotcha!" he said.

Leaf felt the paws on her back and she was a bit surprised. She managed to slip out from under the wolf and she growled. She managed to look like she was ready to fight but on the inside she was flustered that the wolf had managed to surprise her.

Maple nodded slowly, "Y-yeah."

Lupin sat down and curled his tail over his paws. "So what are you doing here, in Canyon Pack territory?"

"Sorry about that. I'll leave now," Sapphire said, walking away.

Leaf noticed that the wolf wasn't attacking so she let her fur lie flat and she said, "I am exploring."

Maple cocked her head, this wolf was interesting, "W-wait, why are you h-here?"

"There's a whole 'nother world outside of this territory," Lupin said. "But if the territory interests you so much, why don't you request to join?"

Leaf cocked her head, "Why would I do that, though? I would have to listen to others all the time and I wouldn't have true freedom."

"True freedom is living in a pack with a family," Lupin said. "We do have laws, yes, but only those that would protect us from others. Would you truly wish harm upon us?"

Leaf sighed, "I joined a pack once, didn't end up so well. How can I be sure that I won't join your pack and then have you all turn on me?"

Leaf rolled her eyes slightly, "As I said I joined the pack and they all turned on me. I don't know why but they did."

Maple nodded, "I w-wonder if you could j-join the Pack of the Canyons."
