"Oh, Canyon Pack's not like that. But it's your choice," Lupin said, yawning.

"Nah, I prefer the loner life to pack life," Sapphire said.

Leaf sighed, "I guess I will join but if anyone tries to attack me I won't hold back." She promised.

Maple nodded but asked, "W-why?"

"I'd understand why," Lupin said. "Just beware of our beta male. His name is Dinros, and he doesn't like strangers much."

"Because I can go wherever I want. Sort of," Sapphire said.

Leaf nodded, "Well then we will have a great time." She said sarcastically and then said, "Lead the way."

Maple nodded, "Oh..."

Lupin then padded back to camp, leading Leaf there.

"Well, seeya," Sapphire said, trotting off.

Maple watched her leave and then she decided to go and make sure that the hose dog had left the Pack's territory.

Leaf followed Lupin slowly, she was ready if she had to fight.

Ash was sniffing around at the border.

Sapphire then sat down on a rock in the middle of the forest. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, and she howled softly.

Lupin got to the camp.

Maple saw Ash, "W-why are you still around?"

Cinder was sitting in camp.

Leaf walked into the camp slowly, she was still looking tense.

"I'm trying to memorize the scent border..." Ash said quietly.

"I've got your back," Lupin whispered to Leaf as they padded through the camp. "I'll be watching. You can go ahead and introduce yourself to the other wolves."

Maple nodded, "Oh, w-what is a house dog doing out here a-anyway?"

Leaf shrugged, "I will introduce myself later." She said, she wasn't someone that made friends easily, especially if she ha only just met them.

"I got away from my humans," Ash announced proudly.

Sapphire continued to howl. It was what she did in her free time, it was what she did when she felt like doing something she couldn't. It made her feel wild and free.

Cinder could faintly hear howling and he headed off in the direction it was coming from.

Maple nodded slowly, "Oh, so you are a l-loner?"

"No, not really. I'm going back to my Humans. Just... Not now," Ash said.

Sapphire thought she heard footsteps, so she stopped abruptly in her howling. She shrugged it off, and then continued her song.

Maple cocked her head, "W-why did you leave?"

Cinder leaked through a bush and saw a loner. He stayed silent and just listened.

"It's good to get out once in a while. I don't like pulling sleds, either," Ash said.

Sapphire finished her song and she looked up towards the sky. Sunlight filtered through the leaves and onto her bluish pelt.

Maple nodded, "Oh, you are f-forced to pull s-sleds? Wait, w-what is a sled?"

Cinder cleared his throat so that the she-wolf knew he was there.

Sapphire jumped and then turned in the direction of Cinder. "Who's there?" she asked, scenting the air.

"It's like this little round thing that Humans sit in. They put tendrils called ropes on us and tie us to the sled, then make us pull it across the snow," Ash said.

Cinder stepped from the bushes, he didn't say a word, though.

Maple cocked her head, "Why w-would you want to do that? What is s-s great about being a pet? You a-are forced to do stuff by h-humans and you have l-little freedom."

"Who are you?" Sapphire said, her fur raising in alarm.

"Well, at least we don't have to fight over food and fight each other for rank. And our Humans love us," Ash said.

Maple cocked her head, "H-how can you be sure that they love you? Why would you w-want to live with humans when you c-can live in a pack where y-you protect each other, c-catch your own prey, and feel actual f-freedom?"

"I have a question for you: Have you ever tried living with a Human?" Ash asked.

Sapphire's fur laid flat. "I'm... Sapphire," she said reluctantly, noticing this was a male. Males normally wanted to be dominant, so they would try to harm her, chase them off the territory.

Maple sighed, "As I s-said before: It is free and y-you have a giant family that protects each other."

"What about the one that attacked me earlier and shoved you aside? You call that family?" Ash said.

"Oh... So I'm still in their territory? I thought for sure I'd crossed out!" Sapphire cursed herself.

Cinder watched the she-wolf mutter to herself, he smiled in amusement.

Maple sighed, "He had the r-right to be mad, we are suppose to k-keep all non-packmembers out of our land s-so he was following the rules. By helping you I b-broke the rules."
