Vergil and Vedel were now following Abaddin but the demon still remained silent.

-"Hey, you promised you would tell me how to get a key!Start talking!" Vergil demanded yelling out.He was getting very impatient and it seemed all his fear of Abaddons other form had vanished.

The beast was yet again spooked by the boys voice. This time it growled in frustration but it didn't even bother to look back at the childish demon.

-"I just said would tell you how i got mine,i didn't promise anything." It explained. Its voice got more stable and more calm as it continued.

-"There is a limited number of keys, originally they were given to the most powerful demons in the maze. There was a simple rule: if someone defeated a key owner they could claim the object as their own. That is how i obtained mine." Abaddon paused.

-"But tonight its different.A key owner has done something unforgivable so all of will get a chance to claim his head and his key. This is truly a type of death sentence for the demon."

@onyx ^^ You back! 😃 Fear my mad account changing! XD

Vedel had been following them curtly, walking behind the duo in silence, with the metal pole clutched tightly in her grasp - she did not know why the feeling of denseness overwhelmed her every time Abaddon spoke. It seemed harmless now, but she was still wary, hence the cold air that surrounded it's body. she shivered, huddling deeper into her oversized brown coat.

The conversation suddenly took an unexpected turn as Abaddon explained about the keys. She had know for a while how one could obtain a key, but now, as Abaddon menationed the shunned key owner, who's key could be taken, she leaned forward, in order to listen to the two more carefully. It was an interesting story, she could predict that...

-"What the hell did the guy do?!" Vergil asked.

This time Abaddon had enough of the boys loud voice. It stopped and turned around to face him.

-"Stop yelling brat!" It screamed at Vergil furious.

Vergil looked at him a bit confused at first but quickly his expression changed to bored.

-"I have heard only rumors so im not sure exactly. Some say he started hunting demons instead of human to prove his power." Abaddon said as it continued walking.

Vergil thought about it for a while. It seemed fair to him,the demon got too full of himself and will die because of that.

-"How many heads do you have?" Abaddon asked thinking of both Vergil and Vedel.

@onyx Oops, I spazzed ^^" Sorry, had to post elsewhere :/

@bunnyshadow *drags over* c:

Supressing the urge to serve slaps to both demons, Vedel trailed after them closely, eavesdropping on the conversation without shame. The mentioning of this demon-hunting demon both interested and relieved her at the same time. It meant that one less demon was after her kind. That was good. However, it also meant that Vergil's kind was now both the predator AND prey, ...which was bad.

She was snapped from her thoughts as Abaddon questioned her and Vergil. She pursed her lips, eyes widening a bit. There was no way she would get out of this one. Vergil could lie about her having only a little heads, but if she did not show them, then it was obvious they were lying.

@jupiter_hollow

Vergil was getting accustomed to lying because of Vedel. Although he used lies to get out of tough spots very often even without her.First off he explained his own number of heads.

-"I have 215, nothing much." He informed.

Vergil didn't think much so he said the first believable thing that came to his mind.

-"She's new so she has none. Her tracking skills are pitiful so she couldn't find a single human." The boy explained laughing a bit s he spoke. It sounded very much as if he was mocking Vedel.

-"What about you?" He added.

The powerful demon was refraining itself from bursting into laughter as Vergil spoke of his and Vedel's number of heads.

-"498." It said in a proud voice.

@onyx It feels weird not being pinged as @aizel but as Jupiter_hollow .____.

Vedel nodded with suspicious happiness at Vergil's statement, deismissing his visibly fake mocking tone. She knew he was lying and strangely, it bothered her that he was actually putting himself on the line. She wondered... if it was such a big deal a demon killing demons, what would a demon protecting a human be...

She refrained from doing anything more, just watching Abaddon with what seemed like worry... If he found out, she wondered what would happen, how bad it would be...

-" You do know the ones you swallow whole don't count?"
Vergil asked half jokingly. He knew Abaddon often ate other people when it was angered.

Abaddon pretended not to hear the question since it was now getting use to Vergil's childish behavior.

Now the group reached the are full of humans which Vedel and Vergil previously passed trough.

-"I think i want to have more than 500 at the counting. So i need at least two more." Abaddon commented as he started searching the crowd for a victim.

-"You should also get at least one head girl." It advised to Vedel.

Still listening intently on their conversation, Vedel refrain from chuckling at Abaddon. Despite the truly horrifyin image that it must be - a demon swallowing someone, it still sounded hilarious. She let a small smile touch her lips.

At Abaddon's offer, though, she froze in her tracks, staring wide-eyed at the numerous humans. She had to... kill them!?! Take their heads!?!?!? She took a deep breath, looking at the diamond demon in disbelief.

Vergil didn't want to force Vedel into killing other humans. He didn't want her to see him collecting heads either.

-" Sorry Abaddon, the two of us will save our energy for the head count. We need that key." He said. The boys statement wasn't a lie.

Abaddon had just chosen a human from the bunch and was about to kill the fragile creature but Vergil then continued.

-"You will help us get it, wont you?" Vergil questioned.

The demon didn't respond. It stood still for a couple of minutes before it continued to the center of the maze.

-"Come on,i don't feel like hunting any more." It explained.

Saved by Vergil,... again. She let out a sigh. the boy had gone a tad too far with his protection. She admitted to being rather flattered by his concern about her. But with Abaddon, things had gotten out of hand. The demon head-count, too, would prove to be a disaster, for some reason, she had a feeling it would. And what Vergil had said about the key - she knew that either he had to enter, for her, and fight for the key, or she had to take the liberty of doing that herself, which would most probably prove to be a disaster.

Her train of thought was broken as the diamond demon spoke, apparently giving up on his intended hunt. Confused, she followed the duo, trotting to catch up with them and resumed her previous position - snooping on the conversation.

Vergil followed Abaddon closely as he couldn't remember the route to the center that well. Both demons were silent for the rest of the way there.

After almost half an hour of walking they reached a large metal door. It was already open.

Abaddon was first to enter the spacious chamber.

The floor of the 'room' was covered in enormous stone tiles. Each had a unique marking on it. In the center of the chamber, there was a large scale.

-"Finally!" Vergil yelled out as he entered. His voice echoed and all of the demons which were present turned their gaze upon the loud boy.

There was already quite a few people there. Vergil was able to recognize many of them.

Following suit of both demons, Vedel kept quit too, making sure not to scuffle around too much on the way to the center. She hadn't entered this part of the maze more than once and now found herself regretting ever agreeing on Abaddon's offer.

Warily, she approached the metal door, hesitant to enter. When she did, her head turned just in time to see Vergil let out a deafening yell, which earned them many pairs of confused stares.

She caught up with Vergil, nudging his arm in worry. She hadn't seen any of the demons here, but most, she'd heard about...

Vergil looked at Vedel. It seemed she was regretting coming here.

-"Sorry,its too late to give up now." He explained to her.

Once the boy felt all of the demons have lost interest in him and once Abadon was far away from them he continued. He stepped closer to Vedel to make sure no one heard him.

-"A human can be much like a demon. The only difference between the two is that demons are naturally destructive creatures. We don't feel any quilt when we kill, you could say that we lack a conscience. If you forget the wish to keep your soul clean of sin they wont be able to recognize you as a human " Vergil said to the girl hopping to help her survive the head count.

Wide-eyed and purse-lipped, Vedel stood there, lstening to the demon's advice. For once during their time together, she felt AND looked absolutely terrified. Instead of putting on her usual blank expression, she showed emotion... She understood how she had to act and frankly, all she had to do was put on her successful creepy facade.

A curt nod and Vedel took a step backwards from Vergil. Her furrowed eyebrows relaxed, as did her pursed lips. All emotions evaporated from amber eyes, except one - hate. She rised her chin, which made her pale face stand out more - she looked like a walking ghost. Gripping the piece of metal proudly in front of her chest, she looked at Vergil, as if displaying her new look to him.
'Like this?' her face asked.

At first Vergil doubted that Vedel would succeed in making herself more intimidating but as he observed her face turn darker he put more trust into her abilities. He gave her a slight smile and a thumbs up before he followed after Abaddon.

The two demons stood half way to the center. It seemed that most of the monstrous maze dwellers were now present. Soon it was hard to hear anything from the voices of the creatures. Still they all went quiet as a very long stick thin figure made its way to the center.

The demons body parts couldn't be seen as it was covered in black mood which slid down its body. Only its two shining green eyes stood out from the rest of the creature.

Once the black form was in from of the scale it extended an arm. The limb was the same length as the demon itself. It was brought forwards at the level of its face. Once the thin fingers were separated a silver key was revealed.

Squeezing her way past the numerous horrifying creatures, Vedel looked around as arrogantly as possible, receiving stern looks and death glares. Surprisingly, she wasn't phazed by that. Taking her pace a little further from Abaddon and Vergil, she attempted to morph her expression in a nonchalant glare. And succeeded in doing so.

As the black figure emerged from the shadows, she refrained from drawing back, but frowned unnoticeably. It was mysterious, but terrifying none the less. She looked Vergil's way, with curiosity, wondering who 'it' was. But when the key appeared from the black one's grip, she gasped quietly, eyes fixed on the silver metallic item.

All of the creatures stepped forwards trying to get as close to the key as possible. They all had their weapons ready but it seemed there was much order among them.

Only one at a time fought against the black demon but on the other side the crowd started to fight among themselves to get a try at defeating the key owner.

The monster went trough tens of enemies in only a few minutes of time.

Abaddon didn't have much of a wish to bring an end to the rule breaker, instead it was randomly killing and eating the demons around him. Obviously it had now slipped into 'core' mode.

Vergil looked at Vedel before doing anything at all.

-"Can i go ahead?" He asked. He knew that thanks to his small body and abilities he could get to the center fast, but he was still concerned for the girl. He wanted her premonition to leave her on her own for a while and the reassurance that she would be all right.

Holding tightly to her metallic pole, Vedel had retreated to a far back corner, attacked by only few demons - two to be exact. They had been weak so, even with her inabilities, she managed to draw them away. As Vergil joined her, asking for permission to go, she reluctantly gave him a nod, struggling to keep her face cold and non-caring. She would be able to fend for herself a while, she admitted that.

Among the many stronger demons, another black shadow fought. The creature's skin was the color black, greasy raven hair cascading down to it's hips, dark hooves emerging from it's head. To it's waist, it was human, and below - it took the form of a horse. Demonic neon yellow eyes darted around bloodlustfully.

Emlyn...

@jupiter_hollow Oh no,i forgot all about Emlyn XD This will get interesting.

Vergil got down and supported himself on both his arms and his feet.He could easily move past all of the different monsters. His speed, his flexible body, his eyes which could easily notice everything around him, it was all well suited for this task to reach the key.

Soon he earned his turn against the black figure. He stood in front of its shining eyes slowly finding a strange feeling was taking over him. It was as if he could see the reflection of his own dieing self in the creatures gaze.

Once Vergil managed to snap out of it he charged at the demon, trying to slash it with his claws. To his surprise the blade went through the black demon as if its skin was made of mud.
------
Abaddon was raging and raining bloody hell on everything around it. The small weak demons were starting to become uninteresting so the monster looked for anything to match it's power.

@onyx TADAAA! 😃

Vedel was doing fairly well, fighting off most of the creatures that attacked her. The metal pole in her hands was dented and serrated, but did a good job, nonetheless. What she couldn't knock down, she ran from. A lot of beings fell down under her pole, she raised herself for that. Funny how a silly matter could overjoy her so much. She kept her blank expression, however.
---
Having been fighting simply out of boredom, Emlyn paused for a moment, claws halfway into a weak demon's stomach. The key-holder had caught his attention. His inhuman ears perked up, yellow eyes scanning the being that now was attempting to wrench the key from it's grasp. Something about the wretched claws and messy hair looked familiar to Emlyn, even if he did not have a good view to the person's face. When said being turned around, however, the black demon bared his yellow teeth in fury, gripping the dead body of the demon in his hands and breaking it's neck in anger. He roared deafeningly, recognizing the expandable demon - Vergil. He darted, charging full speed towards the frail-looking boy and aiming to ram his body into Vergil's.

Vergil's power proved to be almost useless against the black mass. All of his attacks went right trough the demon and afterwards his claws would get stuck in its "body". Soon he was being covered in a thick black substance, the demon sucking him inside of his mud like form. Vergil could barely move and he found it hard to breath.

Abaddon was starting to get bored by killing weak creatures which were now also running away from it. Still once it noticed Emlyn's intent it found a new interest. The yellow eyed demon was a suiting match for Abaddon and it could later say it helped Vergil.

Abaddon swallowed a few random things and demons around it before spiting out pure energy right in front of Emlyn creating a lot of destruction in the process.

The black ram roared in an inhuman manner and turned to the source of distraction. His yellow eyes locked with those of the diamond demon. He bared it's yellow teeth, glancing back at Vergil and pondering on whether to kill him or not. He smiled, noticing the black demon that sucked life out of him. By his calculations, the boy wouldn't last long, so he decided to let him be.

Darting ahead, this time towards Abaddon, he outstretched his hooves, aiming to ram himself into the demon. His body, muscled and firm flew forward with deadly speed.

Vergil was very close to losing consciousness. He gasped for air but only to end up with a big amount of the black mass in his mouth. He tried to pull out of the Demon but that seemed impossible. As he moved around he could feel he brushed against a solid object inside the mud. It seemed to be an orb.Vergil managed to bring his hand to the object and crush it.

The black demon started to fall apart.Vergil dropped on the floor with the mud like mass slowly slipping off of him. He coughed a few times as he tried to get up.

Abaddon moved just enough so he wouldn't take the full blow of Emlyn's attack. It's body became very warm. The ground on which it stood started to burn as did it's whole being and everything around it.

From her place in the far left corner of the room, Vedel looked up to see the melting mass that slipped heavily off of Vergil. Shocked, she stood for a moment with wide, yet emotionless eyes. At first she was on the thought that the black creature had won or anything from that sort, but after a while, she noticed that the mass of black had disappeared completely and drew in a relieved breath. Vergil had won... She darted, her over-sized boots clanking on the bare ground as she approached the boy. He seemed hurt, despite not having any visible wounds - he breathed shallowly, chest struggling to rise. She crouched down next to him, completely forgetting about the demons around.

Emlyn let out another roar, slightly burned by the flames around him, but continued forward, ramming his hooves into the fiery mass that was Abaddon. He hoped to injure the strane being, if not kill him..

Vergil was still struggling unable to bring his breathing to normal. He was still trying to bring himself to his feet but in the end his body dropped to the ground. As he noticed Vedel a small smile stretched over his lips. He was very happy to know the girl is all right.

Abaddon let out an unnatural scream, but not because of the pain but from the rage that engulfed it. A few of the diamond tiles which covered it were broken and it was still being pushed back by the force of Emlyn's attack. Abaddons body was only getting warmer, burning the black demon in the process.

Vedel drew in a quiet sigh of relief, furrowing her eyebrows in worry. she was crouched down next to Vergil, with a gentle hand placed onto his shoulder. A dozen pairs of eyes were trained on them both, mainly on the victor - Vergil. The demon had own the key, but frankly, Vedel didn't seem to be caring for the little silver metallic piece clutched in his hands. She was worrying about the demon himself.

The smile directed at her signalled that Vergil was alive enough to be glad she was okay. She automatically began inspecting him for wounds, but detected only a few minor ones. What seemed to be the problem was the black mass that still clung to his body. It was probably suffocating him, at least from what Vedel concluded. Kneeling so she faced him, Vedel draped her arms over his chest and scraped what black goo was left there away. The oversized sleeves covering her arms didn't let the substance stain her own skin. She flicked the black mass away, procceding to clean it off his arms. The stretching demon was used to pain - he could heal after all so it wasn't a bother for him. However, with the black goo restricting his movements and probably his abilities too, he might have a bit of trouble healing.
-
Emlyn roared in pain, throwing his head back in the process. He could feel some of his black skin slip off the muscles, but did not back down. Instead, he climbed off of Abaddon and charged again, hooves first.

@jupiter_hollow LoL Your characters always end up healing mine XD

Vergil highly appreciated that the black mass was being taken off of him. Although the manner in which Vedel removed it was rough and slightly painful he did not object. Once the muddy substance was removed the skin beneath healed without problem. Vergil suspected it was so only because the demon which it was created by was now dead. If the creature was still alive Vedel most probably wouldn't be able to help in any way.

The humanoid demon himself was very surprised that he was able to defeat a key owner. He wondered if it was perhaps only luck, but once he noticed the many beastly eyes locked on him and the girl he understood he had no luck at all. The same rules still applied: the one who proves himself more powerful than a key owner can take the key. This meant the difficult part was yet to come as he needed to escape from all of the demons most importantly with himself and Vedel both alive and if possible with the metal object in his possession.

@jupiter_hollow im kind of thinking Emlyn should kill Abaddon 😋

The large demon was starting to handle Emlyn's attacks with more difficulty. As more of the crystal tiles which covered it's body were broken, it's body became more unstable. The warmth it emitted continued to raise and soon the entire surface of the creature was engulfed in a thick sheet of unearthly dark fire. To make things even more difficult for Emlyn, Abaddon was now hungrily biting him in the attempt to devour the large mass of energy which he was.

@onyx But why? D: Can't Emlyn make it his pet? Or if Abaddon turns out to be a girl, they can fall in love! XD

Vedel's sleeves were soaked in black substance, that already began stinging her own skin too, but nevertheless, she still proceeded in scraping it off. The pole lay by her side and despite being rather engulfed by her task, she was ready to grab it and fling it around at any moment. And taken the numerous beasts looking at them now, ready to attack, she was even more alerted. From time to time, she glanced around warily at the vicious demons.

Finally, she looked down to face Vergil, flashing him a calm, but questioning glance. She expected him to have a plan, say something at least.
---
An inhuman shout was ripped from his throat as he felt himself getting engulfed by the flames. His only left hoof crackled, as if ready to melt. The black bone (now a thousand dergees hot) was once again rammed into Abaddon, cracking more of the tiles covering his body.
