My goldfish is really fat! (Not trying to be funny.) it wasn't like this yesterday! I just noticed right now. It's stomach is really bloated and it's way fatter than its supposed to be.. It also has raised scales, and it stays at the top half of the tank... Other fish keep nudging it so I'm not sure if it's pregnant or sick... At first I thought my mom bought a new goldfish, but no one in my family bought any...

I also have another gold fish. The kind that has a red thing on its head? It has a few white spots, it's bumpy, and the goldfish swims upside down a lot...

My tank has 8 goldfish right now and I cleaned it about 2 days ago because one of the orange goldfishes died...Please help! I don't know what's wrong !

@Bunnyshadow

I don't have goldfish, (tropical fish.... 😊) but i've heard that male goldfish get white raised spots when they are in breeding season...
So yeah. I'd guess pregnant o.o
In any case, check that you are feeding the right amounts, and I wouldn't worry too much, so long as it's not fungal or anything... You should observe your fish regularly, though. Look out for changes... Yup.

I highly doubt that the goldfish is pregnant, considering that it has raised scales and is staying near the top. Though I do advise doing a Google search for more informed sites rather than Egg Cave when it comes to potentially sick animals. I doubt there are many fish experts here.

Regardless, it sounds like your fish has an infection which causes it to become bloated and ill. Remove the fish from the tank as soon as possible to avoid running any risks.

You should probably check this out and see how your goldfish responds.

@snowbunny According to google if it swims at the top of the tank, is bloated, and has raised scales it has a digestive problem.

I could send you that link if you'd like 😉

@Bunnyshadow

Likely I'm wrong X3 Listen to @Meteoroid, besides, it's probably better to assume sick than leaving it... X3

I've had friend's who have had goldfish which swum upside down but lasted quite a long time, so I didn't think it was a problem.... *facepalm* I don't know... Don't listen to me....

@snowbunny

Sometimes feeding dehydrated food is not a good idea as it can contain trapped air causing gaseous air inside the animal. It is floating to the top of your tank from the lack of oxygen. Since it is bloated, its gills and other organs are being compressed, so it needs an effort to gasp for air. (At the top of the tank) To help, visit your local pet store and get certain medicines that could help with the digestive track of the fish😊

The white spots might be Ick. (It's real, I used to have fish.) This, can be cured! Yay!

It's possible that your goldfish has dropsy:http://www.fishchannel.com/fish-health/disease-prevention/dealing-with-dropsy.aspx

"I also have another gold fish. The kind that has a red thing on its head? It has a few white spots, it's bumpy, and the goldfish swims upside down a lot..."

It probably has a swim bladder problem - wait a few days to feed it again and make sure the food is dipped in water first or the flakes (or whatever you feed) is submerged when feeding. Goldfish have a habit of sucking air in when feeding causing them to swim funny (esp. fancy ones)

It is also possible that your fish has ich, which can be cured but needs to have immediate action to save all your fish!

@bunnyshadow

The best solution is (well there is a few)

1. Not overcrowding - 6-8 gallons per fish

2. Cleaning regulary (goldfish a poop machines...smaller tank needs more cleaning. 10 gallons needs cleaned every 10 days, 30 twice a month... even more if your tank is new (every couple of days, the ammonia that builds up can be deadly)

3. Preventing problems before they begin, which is usually cleaning often

But yeah, just look up diseases the ones I showed you and act appropriately (esp. the ich, that can kill >>)

http://www.my-tropical-fish.com/images/ich.gif < make sure you really identify the spots a ich

@bunnyshadow Not to be rude or anything, but if it does have a digestive problem. I would separate it from the other fish and just see if it lives it out *_* Buying another goldfish would probably be cheaper than medicines.
