"Oh Storm." Said Hannah. "I can't let you go. You're so young." Said Hannah. She desperately wanted to yell for a scientist and she would. She was sure there was a scientist down the hall, maybe a guard or two. "Help someone! There's a girl dying!" She thought that they wouldn't be pleased to hear that someone was dying.

Storm frowned. "I.... Am not... Dying." She growled. She hadn't felt needed in a long time. Hannah needed her? 'Alright then, wake up!' Storm thought, dulled eyes snapping open.

Hannah sighed in relief. "Nevermind!" She shouted back down the hall. "Storm are you just... Tired?" She asked.

"Hannah, I'm fine. Now keep quiet. It's likely we're bothering the others." Storm said. She closed her eyes again, and began to fall asleep.

Hannah nodded. More than anything she was happy. She lay down on her bed, covered up with the sheets and fell asleep smiling.

"Ah, I see. I kinda wish they were a little farther along, I just want this inspection over with" Andrei replied.

"So, you heard that bit about the cell did you? It's pretty short but still quite an amusing story," he chuckled to himself as he thought about the whole ordeal, "well you see... there was this experiment next to my old cell who was planning an escape for a while, the dude told me he was going to break out the next day."

Andrei began to whisper "So I told him to wait a few more days before putting his plan into motion, but guess what? He couldn't, cause next thing I know I'm wakin' up to a demolished room, the wall between his cell and mine had been blown all over the place." Pausing to lay down on the bed, he crossed his arms behind his head and began again.

"Can only guess the guy blew my wall out as a means for me to escape too, but it'd've been to risky, seeing as he alerted all the guards in this place with that blasted explosion... no pun intended."

"Interesting story." Caine said, wondering where this kid got his easygoing personality. It seemed that nothing bothered him at all, in fact it almost seemed he liked it here.

"You're a talkative one. I like you, kid." he looked out his cell window for a moment before looking back to Andrei. "I almost forgot to introduce myself, I'm Caine." he said, with a slight wave of his hand, as if to greet him late.

Ireta looked down into her hands to think. So this was a new ability? The gift this facility was really made to observe? Maybe it was... She sighed and closed her eyes. Behind her eyelids, she saw something bright green. Why was that? She opened her cold eyes again, and looked up. There was nothing green. Nothing bright either. She frowned, and looked back down into her hands. A bit of her frizzy hair fell into her face, and she automatically brushed it away with her hand.

Then she froze. Was that something green? She brought her pale hand back to its position. Yes, that was green. Bright green. What was it? She blinked, and saw the green again. She didn't know hat to do, and resigned to figure out later. As she put her hand back down, she watched the green leave. Was there some sort of light that turned it green? That could be possible, but then the light would come from her face...

Whenever she closed her eyes, she saw green too. Was it... Coming from her eyes. Oh no! When the scientists came down, they would notice it. She personally had never experienced being out of her cell, except for when she was unconscious, so she didn't know what kinds of tests she'd go through when they noticed. Maybe it would go away... That's what she hoped.

@izzfred @meixiaotian MEHH somebody give me a summary :c

Emma sat in her cell as the scientists walked by. She was sitting on the floor with her head in her lap. She was muttering to herself. "Oh god is this the one where the ceiling will cave in crushing me? Or is this the one where the guard will trip and see the crack in the ceiling and they will fix it?" There were dozens more outcomes but they were all ones that were highly unlikely.

"Eh. Shut Up!" A guard screamed. Lots of times the guards didn't like hearing her mutter. She rolled to one side and felt a sharp pain in her shoulder.

"Oh darn. This was the one where you hit it left. I should have gone right... But it was a 98% chance of it going to the right. Oh well." Emma said before shutting up. Then the guard tripped and Emma sighed. She wouldn't get smashed by rocks at least.

In confusion, and a bit of exhaustion with today's craziness, Ireta fell back onto her annoying little bed, and closed her eyes. She tried to block everything out... Well, maybe not, but she tried to bring her brain activity down. It wasn't easy, as it moaned in frustration, and since she kept seeing bright green. After a couple minutes, the green suddenly faded away. So... The glow was over? Good. Unless something else on her face started glowing, she wouldn't be noticed by the scientists. She wouldn't get any special attention. Special attention was bad. That was one of the facts of her destroyed life.

There weer other facts, too. Life was pain. Extreme pain. Then life was fear. Life was hopelessness. Life was useless. Wait, no. Perhaps she should have edited one of them. Life was hope. Weak, painful hope. Otherwise she would have ended it. Of course, she wanted it to end as well. There was one fact she always knew was true for anything but an ant. Life is complicated. Too bad, life is hard when its complicated. It's harder for the ones who have it bad. And Ireta was one of them.

Aykay went back to staring out into the hallway. Things seemed to be routine again. Her stomach growled. Breakfast would be late at this rate.

She wished there weren't so many delays. Delays meant less time in the library, and more time listening to these loud people.

To pass the time, she quietly spoke each of the new words she had learned to say aloud. That was the other thing about hearing. Now people expected her to speak.

"Pardon. Hesitate. Glamour. Banded. Tinted. Daring. Sporadic..."

She said each of them slowly and as quietly as she could. Talking felt strange.

Time to get this wagon train a movin'!

Miki was alone again, watching the scientist and her guards carry on with the examinations. it was kind of interesting to watch, at least, it would be until the group was out of sight. Then it would be back to imaginary games and staring, or sleeping. It seemed he rat bite had been overlooked. It would probably scab over though, as it was pretty small.

The bite began to hurt more though, most likely because she was thinking about it. It made her arm twitch. Wait! Miki never twitched, she was incapable! In an excited panic she attempted to move her arm, with all of her strength, which wasn't much. Her right arm lifted off the floor but fell down again. "No! Stay up..." She whispered quietly in her mind before giving up for a while. She decided it would be best to try after she'd eaten, if they didn't forget she was here again.

Ireta had moved to the front of her cage, and to her own surprise, tried to look down the cells, where those conversations had been going on. They were friendly conversations, and it seemed the talkers had managed to somehow ignore the screams of agony, the pleading for it to stop, and the loud eruption of tears that was around as much as the noise of the city was in the city.

The noise of the city... She knew it well... The... Place. That despicable place she had wasted almost all of her life in, before wasting it here, was in the middle of the city. It was big. Popular. Well-known. Bright, clean, and large. At least, to visitors. To her, it was dark, dirty, and small. There was nowhere she could hide to get away from the somehow cheerful occupants of it. No corners far enough away. No place where she could stop watching them act happily, talking, laughing, having love lives, leaving...

The noise of their chatter... Ireta would rather stay with the screams than their giggles. The sounds were filled with unhappy feelings. Something that darkened everything. Now, though, with everything already dark... She glanced at the minuscule window behind her. With everything dark, maybe she could handle it. No, this was her life now. It was just a much more physical repeat of her earlier life. She could deal.

Yes, she could deal, but did she want to? What was she thinking, what she wanted didn't matter. Now and before. They may have put on fake smiles, and promised to get anything she wanted, but they knew, and so did she, that it was only on the surface. If she did want something though... She allowed the brief, blissful idea to enter her brain... If so... No, she didn't want to deal with the pain again.

Not that it mattered. It was only another fake created by the criminal Hope.

Resuming his gruelling job of mopping the hallways, David moved as slowly as he could without appearing suspicious. He was always curious as to how the experiments stayed alive. When he first took the job, he was completely expecting them all to die within the first month. He figured he could get the money while he could. That was a long time ago... and so far he's only cleaned the cell a couple of times for burial.
He shuddered silently at the thought. Blinking a couple of times, Dave kept mopping. He tuned his ears to listen to the sound of the cell dwellers.
With a shout, Hannah checked to make sure Storm was still breathing.
Caine had introduced himself to another loud-mouthed cellmate.
A glance to the other side, the Ireta girl seemed frozen.
In front of his bucket, fragile Miki looked a desolate as ever.
Continuing his quiet observations, he kept moving to clean the floors a bit further down. He silently decided that Miki was his personal favourite of all the cell kids here.

Hannah woke up and stretched. 'Geeze i've only been asleep for half an hour.' She thought she stared out the bars of her cell, her face expressionless as she was deep in thought. 'When will I get out of here if I ever do?'

Jenny paced around the kitchen. 'Did something happen? The scientists are taking and awful long time to check the kids.' She thought, getting worried.

Jake sat under his bed, the only way you could see him was by the glow in the dark stripes on his sneakers. If you didn't see that you'd freak out saying he'd escaped. 'But I never will.' He thought, 'No one ever will.'

Storm woke, her eyes slowly cracking open, and she wondered when the scientists would get to her. 'The quicker, the better.' She thought dully, staring at the wall, trying to memorize every single crack in every brick. It'd be fun to picture it perfectly in her mind, see it exactly as it was, in her memories. Storm watched a little beetle crawl along the wall.

Hannah watched as a rat scurried onto her bed. She sat up and it crawled into her lap. She stroked it's back while it looked up at her with red beady eyes. She couldn't believe she thought he was cute. She suddenly realized Storm was awake. "Don't you think this guy is cute?" Said Hannah gesturing the rat.

Storm's head swiveled quietly to look over at Hannah. "Very." She murmured, feeling more quiet, more reserved. 'What are you doing?! Don't stare at walls you nutcase!' She thought to herself. Rats, when you really thought about, if you could get past the whole 'dirty animal' thing, were actually kind of cute. Cuter than most the creatures you could find in this hole.

Hannah continued to stroke the rat. 'The poor thing is gonna die soon. He's so thin.' She thought. She rat looked up at her with desperate eyes. "If I had any food i'd give it to you." Whispered Hannah to the rat, which had now curled up in her lap and fallen asleep.

Storm watched Hannah care for the little rat, her eyes glassy with boredom. 'Always slipping...' She thought to herself. Everyone had a breaking point, and Storm knew that she had reached hers long ago. Storm tried stitching herself back together, but she just kept falling apart.

As the janitor passed by, Ireta's eyes were glued on him. Only for a second. Then she heard a conversation start up again. HOW could they do this?! The worst screams were dying down as most people fell unconscious in the pain, or were silenced by the scientists with some weird technology, but still! This despair, this emptiness that clutched onto the walls, that drifted through the air, that leeched off of everyone, it was inescapable. HOW could they act like they were friends in this dirt rag? How was it even possible? She glared at them down the cell walls, before retracting her pale face from the bars again.

There was more misery here than the orphanage. Yet, there seemed to be more enjoyment. She let out an uncontrolled cackle. Hah! That was not true. It only was when those people founded it and danced through the halls. In other words, never. No, it just stood out more. It just seemed even more impossible, and so, even more... Wrong. She just felt so... So... HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!

She twisted away from the bars and stormed to the other side of her cell angrily. How could they... Change, and...

Ireta snarled so fiercely it chased the thought out of her head. These thoughts... She hated them. They cowered in the corner of her mind, as she advanced on them with a whip. Suddenly, she just stopped. She gave up her anger. She just wanted those "scientists" to get over and make her think of something else.
