I keep seeing [yeep] everywhere. Especially when I type t i twithout any spaces.Is this happening to anyone else?
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:12 PM
@cstarswirl It's a filter, I think. Happening to everybody else I suppose.
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 4:13 PM
@cstarswirl It appears that a swear/inappropriate language filter is being put in place. So please bear with us for a bit while it gets worked out.
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:14 PM
@colette Really? What's so bad about that, though?
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:15 PM
@cstarswirl Bad about what? o-o
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:16 PM
@colette t i t...I guess it's just a glitch or something 😊@orderedchaos Okay, thanks 😊
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:17 PM
@cstarswirl Oh, it's a bad word. o-o
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:20 PM
@colette Oh. But when I type in something like t i t l e without the spaces, it comes out as title.
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:21 PM
@cstarswirl Things are still trying to get fixed. It's a work in process I would guess. Like h e l l o is hello. 😸
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 4:21 PM
@cstarswirl As I said, there will be some kinks that need to get worked out with this filter. That being one of them.
@colette Woah...now everything is getting censored. O.o
asi • 18 February 2013 at 4:29 PM
We're losing the h word? ._."Oh boy. Am I going to have to be using, "the blackest abyss", "the pit of everlasting flame" or what in my writing? ^^"
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 4:36 PM
@asi You haven't lost it. Its always been against the rules to use that word on the site.Besides "the blackest abyss" and "the pit of everlasting flame" sound way more poetic and creative. 😋
icymuffin • 18 February 2013 at 4:40 PM
I do not think the Yeeps approve of this xDHopefully it will turn out alright :/In another site, the site's team never really bothered to fix this mistake & so users always came across a problem when they said "hello" or "title", the latter of which was really commonly used :C['cuz it was the equivalent of a trophy]

@orderedchaos Are we allowed to kinda change bad words into something else like @asi did?
clayosaurusrex • 18 February 2013 at 4:52 PM
What if we name a character on a RP A s s a s s i n?Trying now:Assassin
clayosaurusrex • 18 February 2013 at 4:54 PM
@harrypotter123698 So now we have to use HI instead of h e l l o?Grrrrrrrrrrr........................
Deleted • 18 February 2013 at 4:54 PM
@clayosaurusrex Hahahaha! LOL! Assassin! xD
pebblestar-nightclan • 18 February 2013 at 4:56 PM
@cstarswirlLol, I typed in "p l a y e d" and it came out as "pla[yeep]." I was wondering what that was. XD I actually like that they have filters now. :] Instead of actually typing bad words, you could type in [yeep] anyways without actually saying it. XDD
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 4:56 PM
@cutiepie101 There is a list of approved words in the Forum Rules section. http://eggcave.com/forums/rulesWe would appreciate it if you didn't try to get around the filter otherwise. So please, don't go around staring out swears or things like that. Swearing by change the words a little is still swearing and not allowed on this site.Edit: I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that this is a work in progress. Ian is working on ways to make this filter better and not filter out common words. So please be patient while this is worked out, it may take several days.

@orderedchaos What if you put snowflake things? This thing *
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 5:00 PM
@cutiepie101 That is what I mean by staring out a word. You are not supposed to do that, even before the filter came into effect.
dreamer • 18 February 2013 at 5:03 PM
@Clayosaurusrex Actually, one of my friends says that's her favorite word. The reason is pretty obvious. XDAnyways, I haven't even noticed this censor, but it's not like I post on the forums very often anyways, other than when I'm trading something.I'll look around and see if I find any words being censored. XD
asi • 18 February 2013 at 5:35 PM
@orderedchaosOh? Well, having a word like the third one up there confused me to, well, obviously this end, as I consider it much worse than the word I was talking about ^^" That's probably my education's fault 😋 Thanks for explaining this (:When the filter is fixed, will you get warnings for these?
silver_winged • 18 February 2013 at 5:42 PM
Is the list of filtered words manually inputted by the EggCave team, or was it acquired from somewhere else? My reason for asking is that the word p o p u l a t i o n is being yeep'd out and I had to resort to Google to figure out why. (I'm an American teenager who lives in a city; I'm familiar with most dirty slang.)
dreamer • 18 February 2013 at 5:45 PM
@Silver_winged Wait, why is that censored? O_o I can't see anything bad in it, but I'll try it. I'm also familiar with a lot of filthy words (and it does impact my language in real life, but I try to be good on EggCave). I don't understand some of these censors... But I saw a censor somewhere that cracked me up. XDI'm trying not to make a joke out of this situation, but it is pretty funny to see "yeep" in the middle of a word. I spell out the missing letters in my head and then I chuckle about it a little.
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 5:49 PM
@silver_winged @dreamer The list contains words that are swears and derogatory terms from other languages, not just English.As I've stated multiple times before in this very thread, this filter is a work in progress and it may be a couple days before we get it sorted out to the point where it doesn't filter out words that contain something from the list. So please, have a little patience and just laugh when you see a common word with yeep in it.
silver_winged • 18 February 2013 at 5:54 PM
@dreamerI believe it would be against the rules for me to say which part of it is the "offensive" part.I think it might be a good idea to implement a way for users to unsubscribe from the filters. We could register our ages and if we're above a certain age, we can choose to view the forums as they present themselves. /Of course/ the bad language would still be banned. But if you are young/sensitive, you can err on the side of avoiding any possible bad language. If you're older/less sensitive, you can err on the side of possibly seeing a word that slipped through the cracks while still getting to read innocuous words like classical or cockerel.Please tell me we can still say cracks.EDIT: Seems we can.
Orderedchaos • 18 February 2013 at 5:58 PM
@silver_winged This is G rated site and that applies to everyone and keeping inappropriate language off the site is part of the rules. We can't start letting people "unsubscribe" to the rules.
