Ryan's eyes flickered as he coughed from the dust that spilled from the book. He stuck the "Myth of the human empire" and "The empire of the galaxy" into his backpack, which he slung over his shoulder and left out the door. Even though it was quiet inside his house, he wanted to go to the library to read in case of any friends coming by. the sunlight glinted on his pale skin, as he ran up the door of the library. Quickly, he shut the door behind him and surveyed the library, empty except for one person reading and another one running and the librarian. Quickly, he brushed himself off and took a seat next to the guy reading.

As Storm washed her hands, she tried to even her breathing. That librarian scared her. Just like a lot of things did. But nothing was worse than crowds. Nothing was worse than crowds....

The warm water washed the dirt and bubbly soap down the drain, and Storm stared at it for a moment, zoning out, before shaking her head. She turned the faucet off, dried her hands, and left the bathroom. Storm walked quietly back to the table. "Thanks." She whispered to the boy, for her books were still there. She began to read the book again, but she didn't understand. Being orphaned at six had kind of pulled her out of school, which meant that Storm wasn't the best reader. "Galac.... Gala..." She murmured to herself, unable to read the word; galactic.

Adam looked at this new boy. "Hi! What are you reading?" he asked. Before he could hear an answer, the girl came back. "Thanks." She said. He decided that he might as well ask now. "Are you interested in the old empire stories? I am researching them too, for a-- project of mine." Adam was trying to huffy, the takeoff was scheduled for 2 days from now, which wasn't very long for him.

Ryan stared at the girl that just came out of the bathroom. She looked dirty, and poor. Instantly, he wondered what sort of life she might have. Instead of saying anything to her, he just pulled out a book and started reading. If they wanted to say anything, they would talk.

Adam looked at the newcomer. He looked like a nice enough person, and well, what do you know? He was interested in the empire to! What is it, Research the old empire day? He thought to himself. "You too, if you're interested. I am going on a journey into the far reaches of the galaxy, to investigate this myth. I need partners, so who's with me? Once in a lifetime opportunity to get away from the hustle bustle of the city and into nice, relaxing space."

Sorry I have to get off for about 30min-1 hour! Real life stuff, XD

Ryan stared at him. "Are you kidding?!? You're going on a journey? To investigate the myth? No more city? Relaxing stuff?!?" He turned the thought over in his head, then muttered. "I thought I was an outsider to be interested in this stuff, but here you are!" He stared into the boy's eyes. "Count me in." Then he turned to look at the girl.

Storm's concentration faltered under the new boy's stare and from the other boy's question. She shut the book in frustration. /You can't even read. hy do you try?/ She asked herself silently. Then she remembered the first boy's question. "Oh... Um... Only a bit. They keep my mind off things, but... I can't even read, so I guess there's no point for me." She answered, taking a shaky breath.

Then the boy said something about exploring the galaxy. The other boy looked at her expectantly, and it seemed both were waiting on her. "Oh! Um... What's a galaxy?" She asked, and nearly smacked herself.

Ryan rolled his eyes. "A typical girl response." He turned his green eyes on her. "Well if you're sure you don't want to live an aweomse adventure to the great mysterious places where your dreams lay.. that's your decision."

Storm grinned sheepishly, her cheeks flushing a bright pink at her embarressment. "Right. I knew that." She laughed nervously. "So... You're going into space? WHy would you want me to come? I mean, I'm a theif who can't even read." She said, surprised that anyone thought that she was special enought to go on a journey as amazing as the one the first boy described.

Ryan started shuffling around, uncomfortable. "Well you're into the myths about it, aren;t you? Not many people are, I guess." He said, casting a glance at the other boy. Then he turned back to the girl, noticing how her bright pink cheeks looked like an outsider on her homeless girl look.

"Well, two reasons. One, it looks like you're interested enough in this topic, and I need people who are willing to go out and explore to find knowledge, like me or you. And two, I kinda need people right now. After all, we're leaving the day after tomorrow. Did you hear that? I said we. You're coming with us, no response needed." He looked at their jaws dropping. "What? Was it something I forgot? I do that sometimes.... Oh right! I forgot to tell you that you had only one day to prepare!" *faceplam* "Sorry..."

Storm opened up a bit to these boys. "Well, I guess I am." She said, still a bit surprised. Her large green eyes filled with a touch of held-back happiness. No one had ever thought she could do anything right. In fact, she was more of a theif than a begger, but only because not many stopped to help her. People these days didn't think much of homeless people, sometimes suspecting that they jumped people. She noticed the second boy shifting uncomfortably, but said nothing about it.

"Well, I have nothing to pack." Storm stated, smiling. Then she realized what she just said, and blushed even more. "Um... Yeah. One day's long enough for me." She said a bit quieter.

Ryan realized he was still looking at the girl, then quickly laughed. "Well that's settled then. By the way, I'm Ryan Owens, pleased to meet you!" He flipped to the index in the back of his book, trying to see if there was anything helpful. "Huh, nothing about trying to journey and find out all about these myths... wait no, scratch that!" He eagerly flipped the page. There was a sentance printed there. Good luck with that.

"So, what are we waiting for? Let's get ready!" Her eyes sparkled with excitment, and she bolted for the front door to the library

Ryan got up out of his chair, tucking his books back in his backpack. "Well, see you all later I suppose." he said, before heading out the library door. On his way home, he thought about the journey. Meh, his family wouldn't mind that he went, would they?

Storm froze outside of the library, her eyes widening in fear. "Uh oh." She said. The crowds were larger. There was no way around. Storm found that she couldn't move, paralyzed from fear. Sometimes, like now, the crowds terrified her to the point where she wouldn't move. Other times, the under-lying fear was bearable enough.

Refusing to move, Storm was pushed right onto her bottom by Ryan's push. "I can't!" She yelled, standing up and rushing back inside the library, where she crawled under a table. Safe from the hustle and bustle.... Safe from the people...

Sorry I haven't posted for a while XD

Adam watched them leave. Before the walked out, he yelled, "My name's Adam! Meet me back here in two days! Thanks for joining me!" and started to walk home. Home. He just remembered that the girl, Storm was her name? was a beggar. She probably didn't have a home. I could maybe get a room for her in the hotel next to my house, the owner owed me a couple favors... "Hey, Storm! Do you have a place to stay? I could arrange a room for you in a hotel, if... if you want it."

She looked up at Adam. "I don't wanna be a burden. If it's not a problem with you...."

RYan turned to Storm. "Look, I want you to go and face your fear. Someday you'll have to, why not now?" He accidently banged his head on the table. "Like I have to face my fear about banging into annoying tables while talking to homeless people afraid of crowds." He said under his breath

He felt bad for her. It probably wasn't her fault she got this way, and she was nice enough... "You'd be no burden at all! The owner of the hotel owes me a bunch, 'cause I tend to bring everyone who is staying nearby into that note. Business has been booming for him ever since I came around.. but hey! I'm excited for the journey! We may even find the old relics, or the galactic library, or the design for the fastest transport ever made or- or-" he lowered his voice, as they were walking down the steps of the library, "the second Earth I was telling you about. What? I forgot to tell you? O well, it seems like I have so much information crammed up here," *points to head* "that I forget to tell people things and expect them to know what I'm talking about. Well second Earth is-" he was cut of by a thought. "O lord! It's 8:09 got to be home right now there is an inn right there tell them I sent you they'll give you a room Bye!"

Storm opened her mouth to thank Adam, but her was already gone. "Well, I can't really leave. The crowds are too big. And I don't want to face my fear." Storm said quietly. "I'm not worth your effort. It's getting late. Go home." Storm crawled out from under the table and left the library, sitting on the steps and watching the people walk by.

Ryan decided it might be smart to call the librarian. "Hello, Miss.Librarian?" "WHO IS THIS!?" "Oh, I'm Ryan..." "What do you want?" "Is there still a girl hiding beneath the table?" "Why do you care?" "Umm..." "She just walked out the door a minute ago" "Ookay, and-" "GOOD BYE!" WIth that, the librarin slammed the phone and the line went dead. Well...

Adam rushed home, making sure everything was in his bags. Check. He made sure the ship was ready. Check. He found the fuel, food, and research books. Check. Now all there was to do was wait. He anticipated coming across a find that would change human kind forever. He liked the idea.
