I've been thinking of how this site runs, and (no offence) that some mods are doing more than others. The point of being a mod is to help people and make the site better, not to use your fancy position to get friends or whatever. I know Ian is not currently hiring, but I think it would be worth it to hire at least one more. Consider the user @shelby. Now many of you may know her, and many of you may not. I will say that she is highly qualified and I want to speak out about it. She would make an amazing mod and already does so much for the community. For example, I was suggesting a creature, and she asked if she could draw it (without asking for any credit) just to help me add some cool stuff. Within 2 hours she was done and my suggestion was so much better. She is very unbiased and online most of the day, always helping and just trying to make EggCave better. She has very good grammar and is very polite. Never been reported and has a clean record. Note that I am not the only one who feels this way. So if you, like me, feel Shelby should be given a chance, please speak out.Random pings: @wererage @rojoqueen @bluebelle @twilight_raptor

@littlepuffyballYes. I have noticed that, There's been[not trying to sound hateful] mods who don't seem to do anything. theres like four active mods. @Ian is one of them. the other I've never even seen them post, their last post was erm.. 2012. I think that @shelby should be a mod. she has alot of knowledge, her account is old, she knows alot more then alot of people on EC, and is constantly helping people out!

@bluebelle I understand it's a thin line to walk, I do not want to sound hateful either, but even if Shelby doesn't get hired we still have a problem.

@littlepuffyball Hm, this is true. I guess some mods are a bit more busy these days and don't have as much time for Egg Cave anymore. And this site is growing quickly, so I do think it is time for some new mods. And I've seen some many people that could qualify as mods. ❤️

I don't really think it's fair to make assumptions. Maybe some mods don't post as much, but perhaps they help out the site in different ways we don't know about? Also, I don't think any mod is using their position to get friends, and that's not fair to say. Even if you didn't say it directly, how you said it implies that. If there was to be another mod, I'd like to think Ian would look at applications as he did before. As opposed to just selecting someone who hasn't even said that they have the time or want to do the job anyway. Either way, I think the site runs relatively smoothly as is. Maybe as the site grows, or mods leave, new mods will be needed. I'm sure Ian and the other mods will get an idea of when it's getting too busy for the current ones.

@littlepuffyballYeah, Most of the mods do a really good job. I really like alot of the mods. But seriously. What good is a mod who does virtually nothing? I think it would have been better if you sent in a ticket, but you brought this to the attention of the public. so yeah.@rojoqueen@borgore@wererage@brunosc

@chapus2009 I agree. If nothing else comes of this topic, I hope Ian at least sees we need more.@april__ I also agree with your point of view, maybe they do more behind the scenes, however if they don't, we need more who do.@bluebelle I did send in a ticket, but I thought it needed to be addressed publicly as well.

@littlepuffyball You might be right, but in the end, it's kind of Ian who decides that. Maybe he sees things running smoothly as is.
chapus • 26 April 2013 at 1:30 PM
@april__ True, applications would be the best way to get new mods, because then the people who want to become mods can try their chances. 😸We don't need to forget that mods have a life too. Work, family, friends... already we should be grateful for the ones that are here almost every day.

@littlepuffyball shelby is great and does help out in EC 😸 She'll make a great mod if Ian is hiring 😸
littlepuffyball • 26 April 2013 at 1:33 PM
@april__ I agree. More power to him. However I think he needs to at least consider the opinions of the community. This topic has many opinions and they are all useful.@chapus2009 I agree with you and April actually. I think shelby should send in an application. However Ian needs to be open to more applications I would think. Just a point of view.

@bluebelle Thanks for the ping, but I'm not really interested. ^^

Completely agree with what @april__ says. Only the staff themselves will know when a new mod is needed for the website. And we can't go assuming that some aren't doing anything simply because they're not posting around the site, because we just don't know. Also, despite how great a job Shelby is doing to help everybody, it's not fair to everybody else who wants a shot at the mod position to just go ahead and "choose" a favourite when the time comes. It should be done as it was before; by sending through applications and getting the job fair and square. 😊
littlepuffyball • 26 April 2013 at 1:41 PM
@elluwah Ok. I have changed my position on the subject. I think you are completely right, however it should be Ian's call, not other mods.

@littlepuffyball I think that Shelby would be a really great mod. 😊But I think also that Ian will take in consideration hiring other moderators when there will be need of them. So, If at the moment he isn't hiring, it means that for now the situation is ok. 😊And I really think that often moderators work hidden in the darkness (sorry for the phrase, but I don't know how to traslate this) and they always work for eggcave. We can't see what they're doing but I think their work must be hard ... it's not only a matter of closing topics. The also creates plots, events, updates in better for the site, and help people in need. So I think they do a really great work. 😊
littlepuffyball • 26 April 2013 at 3:14 PM
@wererage Thanks for that. I understand and I think you're right. Ian probably has the situation under control. This topic can die or be closed.
