Chase kept his distance from David and Vincent for a period of time, but as minutes moved by he became anxious and slowly inched closer towards them. He listened in on their conversation and heard David apologizing to Vincent for his actions. Suddenly, David had collapsed once again onto the asphalt with a scream.

Chase was now standing next to Vincent. He watched as Vincent checked David's pulse and lifted up his eyelid. David's eyes were moving back and forth rapidly and they looked like he just saw something terrifying. Vincent said he was dreaming and Chase looked over at him. "Dreaming? Like this? Is that even normal?" Chase asked, though he figured someone like Vincent couldn't tell him. It was doubtful that a best buy worker was also a doctor.

It didn't take long, but sure enough David had woken up like nothing ever happened in the first place. He seemed to be deep in thought, perhaps about the dream he was having, and he then offered Vincent some food and water. Chase was parched. His bunker wasn't pack with enough supplies and he hadn't drank anything for a good while. Everything in his month was dry and sticky and he hated the feeling.

"I'll take it if he doesn't want it." Chase said to David, holding out his hand for the water bottle.

@kurochi-akuma D: Awww. You don't have to post or anything. I'm sorry. I hope you get well soon. *hugs* I think the post is great. 😃

@leafpoolz @moosecake6 @ilovedoctorwho

Vincent took another step back when he was offered water or food. He still didn't trust this one, David...He seemed off... He shakes his head,
"No, thank you. I'll be fine."
He was sure of his own claim, he had survived this entire time nearly on his own, and he didn't want to depend on anyone, even slightly... Not after the last time...
He tilts his head at Chase, he could tell by the tone of his voice that he needed water. For a short moment he felt bad for the poor thing, but shook the feeling away as a pain began building on the left side of his head. Not here... Not now... He could not afford to become confused again...Or have the other change happen...Like his brother. Not with weakened people around... After a minute the pain subsides, and he's still in the same mental state. For a short time his mind wanders to thoughts of his brother, but they quickly turn dark, and he breaks from the memories before seeing that awful scene payback in his mind.
He recalls that Chase had asked him something, and finally answers in a plain tone.
"No, I don't think it's normal. But I got most of my medical knowledge from cartoons. Soo..."
He shrugs, not expecting a reply.

Far down the street, around the bend of boulders and rubble, there is a sound. A raspy call. Much like a crow, but how a crow may sound if a child's toy whistle got caught down its throat, and it were trying to cough it back up.
The sound is faint, but drawing closer.

Vincent catches onto the sound and suddenly turns towards the direction it came from. He stands on his toes to get a better vantage point, but can't see what is around the bend. He holds this meerkat-like position and stays stone still listening. His expression holding a look of great fear. He'd heard this sound before... Long ago... Back before the people were gone.

@moosecake6 @leafpoolz @kurochi-akuma @ilovedoctorwho Hey there dudes and dudettes 😋 This is Jupiter's side, sorta named after the character. So don't get confused! Also, I account-hop often ^^"
-

They'd been walking for days.
Nothing new popped out of the expanse of the horizon, nor the expanse of the ground, it seemed. The vegetation everywhere had been narrowed to grass and the occasional bush so the only source of food and water remained the limited supplies Aizel had in her backpack. Furthermore, now that there was a severe lack of shade, they could feel the unbearable heat of the sun like never before. Dear god, shade was underrated...
They probably looked funny as heck from a side point of view, Aizel mused. A 21-year old armed woman and a 8-year old little boy by her side.
She looked like a hardcore war-raged soldier, what with the shot haircut and the rifle slung over her shoulder, while her brother resembled a waddling doll. The jacket she had lended him to wear was comically long for his short figure and he had the edge held in his arms, trying to keep it from dragging on the ground.
She herself was sporting a full set of military equipment, sans the jacket which Mason was wearing. Her uniform consisted of camouflage pants, a plain sweat-soaked black top and worn combat boots -- the leather had ripped, as had the knees of her camouflage pants. She carried along a set of personal load carrying equipment and two rocket pouches, all seven comparments crammed with vital supplies. Other than the rifle she brandished and the grenades peeking from her pockets, she also had a pair of Desert Eagle guns strapped to her hips.
And next to her short, but colossal-looking self, waddled Mason with the too-long military coat and too-big baby blue eyes, contrasting to her pitless black ones.

Yes, she concluded, they definitely looked funny.

Name: Mason Tylk
Gender: Male
Age: 8
Physical Appearance: Small and scrawny, short for his age. Short coal black hair and fairly pale skinned. Light blue eyes and a smile that rarely leaves his face.
Past: Same as Aizel, though he had it easier, what with being the youngest -- although he was hated by his mother, his two older siblings protected him.
Other: Aizel's little brother.

P.S. the third brother is Nathaniel, but I've not yet decided whether to add him or not.

David handed Chase the water bottle and some food. Then he contemplated his memories. "Hey Chase you don't have to be afraid of me. When I pass out its nothing medical so you don't have to worry about me turning into a Zombie or anything." David started pacing and thinking about things he could remember. Which was not very much other than his name and what he has experienced.

Chase took the water bottle from David, uttering a small "Thank you." as he did. He unscrewed the cap and brought the plastic bottle to his dry lips, but unfortunately for him he would not be able to take a sip just yet. He heard an inhuman noise echo across the vacant streets of the city. It was indescribable. The closest thing he could compare it to was a large bird that had just eaten its supper and began choking on it. It was definitely menacing sounding...whatever it was.

David told Chase not to worry about him and that he was perfectly fine, but Chase didn't let him finish his sentence. "Shhhh." He hissed, holding up one of his fingers in front of David's face, "You hear that?"

Chase's eyes fell on a ridged looking Vincent. He was like a statue, staying completely still, and he seemed to be looking in the direction of the noise's origin.

"What is it?" Chase asked Vincent, sounding a bit uneasy.

Deleted • 19 December 2013 at 6:21 PM

A horrible noise echoed from the distance. Ellie grinded her teeth and dug her nails into her head. What on earth could make a sound like that?! It was worse than a thousand nails running down a chalk board. It didn't sound human at all but, it didn't sound really mechanical either. Out of curiosity and sheer stupidity she turned around and headed the direction of the noise.

The past few days had been all but silent. What with the lack of civilization or any human beings in sight, everything was perfectly tranquil. At one point it had turned unnerving.
So that was why, when they spotted the vague outlines of serrated city buildings on the horizon, their initial reaction was to implode from happiness.
Quickening their pace, they headed straight towards the city, reaching it in a few minutes. Despite the substantially more polluted air and the clouds of smoke permanently hanging in the sky, the change of scene was definitely refreshing for the both of them. It was defintiely better than the flat landscape -- while Aizel wasn't bothered by the monotonous planes Mason and he had wandered through, she knew her little brother welcomed the cityscape with open arms as he tended to tire quickly fom uninteresting sights. He was a little explorer, that one.
However, just as they were entering the city an inhuman screech sliced the atmosphere, as if on queue. That was just their luck -- that had always been their luck. Something just had to go wrong...
Aizel's first insinct was to step in front of Mason. Even though the pivotal source of the screech wasn't anywhere near them, she still felt overprotective of her little brother. The rifle in her arms was tipped forward and loaded promptly, after which she instructed the little boy to stay safely behind her.
Narrowing her body and bowing down her head so as to appear smaller, Aizel proceeded forward, looking around.

Vincent heard Chase's question. However he remains silent. Hoping, just hoping the sound would trail off in another direction. Still closer it came, it's raving call growing louder and louder... Then silence. This silence frightened Vincent more than the call itself. It was close.
Gravel around the bend begins making a crunching sound as something with, what sound like, multiple legs was walking up the back of a high pile of rubble at a steady rhythmic pace. Still at a distance, above the higher piles, a curved shape popped up. A beak of sorts by the looks of it. The rest of the creature appears and it climbs on top of a large rock. It rivaled a horse in height, and was twice as long. It looked a lot like an insect, a series of glossy plates covering its curved beak filled with wicked fangs. A strip of scales running down from the back of the head, turning to fur on the back-end which curled underneath its body.
It's coloration was a gradient of grays and browns, and an extra set of blade tipped arms folded up underneath it.
It turns to the group, watching them blurred with it's twelve tiny eyes, watching for movement.

Vincent stays still, and finally mutters his answer quietly,
"It's a Creeper. Don't move."
He keeps as still as possible, not wanting it to catch onto their movements.

David saw what Vincent called a Creeper. He listened to him and didn't move a muscle. Standing stone still David watched and waited for Vincent or the Creeper to do something.... anything. His mind raced and thought about all the creatures he had seen but none as horrifying as this beast.

Chase's eyes widened at the sight of the hideous creature in front of him. It was like a fly had grown to the size of a large livestock animal. He noticed all the little details along its body, from its plated head to its furry tail, and the smell of it was overwhelmingly bad. His body froze and he held his breath instinctively- half from the smell and the other for the sake of not moving. For what seemed like forever, he held that pose, but it wasn't long before he felt his limps begin to quiver and shake.

He tightened the grip on the water bottle to keep himself from shaking and balled his other hand into a fist at his side. Still, he was finding it incredibly difficult to "stay still" for any much longer. He just hoped the mutated atrocity would move on and leave them be.

David waited standing stiff as a stone just waiting. "will it go away?" he thought to himself. His limbs grew tired and his head began pound "NO NOT RIGHT NOW!" He was screaming in his mind he fought the pain. He knew what was going to happen if he let go and let the pain win. He stood strong and the pain passed. But the only problem is he was left with a massive headache. He was barely breathing for the sake of staying still he was as good as a statue not blinking except when he need to. Oddly enough the scar on his arm began to hurt as if something had reopened it. He could feel the blood beginning to drip down off his arm but he didn't dare look to see what happened. He was screaming in pain but only in his mind. His heart was racing. He could only imagine how much blood he was losing to his reopened scar due to the pace of his heart. He could hear the blood hitting the ground due to the adrenaline rush that he was having. Drip, Drip, Drip. The noise sounded louder than it should. by now the ground was stained red with blood. He grew light headed and now unable to resist he fell. It seemed like he was falling in slow motion. He heard the ~thump~ of his body hitting the ground. He was staring into the monsters face from far away. Then his vision went black.

The creature was sniffing at the air, and slowly stepping forward.
Vincent wondered why, then caught the smell himself. Blood?
~Thump~
Vincent knew that sound by now, David had passed out again.
The monster sees the sudden movement and shrieks, much louder than it had before, and sustaining the call much longer.
Vincent takes a step back, he knew what would happen now. He should run, but.... This one, this David guy. It's almost like Vincent knew him from somewhere. But where, he couldn't remember. However Vincent knew he couldn't just abandon any of these people.... He couldn't let it happen again...Right?
Before Vincent is done thinking, the Creeper launches itself off the rocks landing with a loud thud, then bolts into a run when it hits the ground. It was closing the distance fast.

@leafpoolz I got permission from sparrow to have David and Vincent knowing each other and having Vincent save David from whom ever was attacking him in his memories
@aizel

David heard a mumbled question and gave a slurred answer "stopthebleedingihavebandagesinmypack." after his answer his mind thought it was a good idea to make him remember something about his scar. The younger him was losing a lot of blood he was feeling light headed and ready to pass out when another person came running toward the scene. Wait he recognises him Vincent. The only logical reason why Vincent would save him is if they were friends. After the man was gone Vincent looked at him. The younger David gave him a slurred command like thing "stopthebleedingihavebandagesinmypack" then all at once the dream ended. David was left in a void like thing he was floating. He felt like he had to make a decision. David could barely comprehend what was going on outside but he is a fighter and so tried to find his way back to the outside world. Which may prove to be more difficult than he thought. Then David saw a person in the darkness himself. "Why do you want to go back? Everything you had is gone. The people out there they mean nothing. Just give up." the other him said. with witch David replied "I want to go back so I can live. I want to go back because that world means something to me now why can't you let me go?" His other version replied "Because I am not done with you yet. We still have much to do and so little time to do it. But I will let you go back for now just expect more pain and memories." With that David just went back to being unconscious.

"I'm not really sure..."
He thinks for a long moment,
"Maybe... We could talk to the Mayor?"
(My brain is failing me right now XD Writers block...)

---

Vincent heard the slurred request, and it sounded so familiar to him. The creature was almost upon them, Vincent didn't have time to bandage him up. He quickly says,
"You, uh, you Chase. Can you help him?"
Vincent was guessing that being in the condition he suspected Chase was in, he wouldn't fight too well.
Though he didn't want too, he knew he'd have to fight it... Though maybe if he could think for a second, he could make a plan.

David continued to grasp onto life no matter what happened he calmed himself to slow the blood flow. He fought will all of his will to bring himself back from the brink. Barely conscious he fumbled for something in his pack. He grabbed the bandages and handed them to whomever was near him and gave a slurred command "Dontjustsittheredosomething!" and promptly passed out again which wasn't a hard thing to do. He didn't give up he couldn't do that.

Chase heard the sound of something heavy hit the ground. His light brown eyes darted to the source, finding, with no surprise, that David had lost consciousness at about the worse possible time once again. The creature's shriek pierced through the air when it spotted the movement. Chase's hands went to his ears to protect them from the harshness of the sound, causing the open water bottle to fall to the ground.

"Ugh!" He yelled out.

The creature stopped its screeching momentarily and began running towards the group at top speed. Chase could see it, but his ears were still ringing in pain, and it took him a minute to comprehend what was happening.

"You- Chase- Help him?" Chase managed to catch from Vincent's yelling after the ringing subsided a bit.

He turned himself away from the creature and ran over to where Vincent and David were, seeing that the scar from earlier had been reopened and David was losing a lot of blood.

"W-What!? Uh...I...Yeah! What are you going to do!?" Chase yelled back at Vincent.

The pounding footsteps were getting nearer from the sound of it. They didn't have much time. Unless Vincent could fight off that...Creeper, there was no way Chase would have enough time to take care of David. His thought process brought him to the conclusion of moving David out of the situation all together.

With that in mind, he grabbed where David was bleeding and put firm pressure to slow the blood flow with his fingers. He then proceeded to pick David off the ground and slugged David's non-injured arm over his shoulders while keeping his other hand on the injury. The weight change was definitely something to get used to. Call it adrenaline, but Chase didn't have much time to think about that, so he ran off towards the east side of town to get away from the Creeper.

David could hear a voice talking to him another memory perhaps? The voice belonged to a female "David....David it's going to be alright just don't give up" the only person whom he could think of that belonged to that sweet voice was his mother. Her words comforted him and reminded him that he can't die. David once again encountered the man in the blackness. "David David David you just won't give up will you." David didn't reply he just rested waiting for a voice or something to pull him back to reality and tell him that everything was just a dream. But he knew what was happening was anything but a dream.

I'll give it a shot.

David's blacking out a lot and having flash backs, Girls are gone I think, Chase appeared when he came out of a bunker, and spotted Vincent who was watching them from a building.
Vincent came down, conversations, than a monster appeared. Now the monster is rushing the group, and Chase is dragging David out of the way to treat a scar that reopened. Vincent is currently just standing there until I figure out what I want him to do. XD

@kurochi-akuma I agree. 😱

Ellie had been running for a good long time, and now the creature was within her range of vision. She was thrown back by how hideous it was. I mean, god that thing was ugly. It appeared to be some sort of insect however, it clearly wasn't any kind she'd ever seen before. Perhaps more than a bomb was dropped, something guaranteed to wipe out what was left over.

In the darkness the other version of himself knew David was just trying to ignore him "I reopened that scar of yours you know." it said "Why did I do it you may be asking. Well that is simply because you resisted me and the memories that I have yet to show you. Get Up Now" David felt not his actual body but his mind body getting up. "Where are we going?" David asked the other him "just to see more memories." The other him replied.

At first the shrieks sounded fairly quiet, the source seemingly being a distance away from Mason and Aizel, but as both of them cautiously proceeded forward, whatever was emmiting the sounds turnd out to be substantially closer than either of them had expected.
Soon, the creature drew even closer. It had probably sensed them from afar since their initial entrance in the city was nothing short of loud, especially considering that Mason tended to babble non stop and possessed a loud, annoying voice, too high for any boy his age. However, that wasn't the case.
As if on queue, before she'd even finished her thoughts, she noticed a male duo hurrying along the street opposite of them. They were in their line of sight only for a few seconds, after which Aizel finally saw the source of all blood curdling sounds so far. It ran by at a fast pace, but despite not being able to get a good look, the woman could guess it was monstrously big and perhaps equally hungry.
"Come on." she mumbled to Mason, tugging the boy along with one hand, while the other was busy loading her machine gun properly.
They bareled into the street right after the monster had passed the alley they stood in, which lead them to a convenient position right behind the thing.
Their primary instinct was to form a protective formation. Mason stepped behind Aizel, while the woman stood in front of him, protecting him from pivotal danger. Raising her machine gun and aiming in a half-a**ed manner (no time for precision, she mused), Aizel fired a ten bullet round into the monster's backside.

I'm kind of guessing the beast wouldn't die this easily. Wasn't my aim to kill it. XD

ALL ~😃 A Monster dropped to destroy everything? Mwahaha.
Maybe with a kill switch that wipes them out after the 'job' is done and the area is clear of life and ready to be taken?

Last second Vincent decided that fighting head on wasn't the best idea, and quickly side steps and runs, hoping it would chase him and not the others. No such luck. The Creeper chases after what it sees as the larger injured target... Chase and David. Vincent is unsure of what to do, but before he can react two new people step out from a street just after the creature runs past. The female of the pair seemed to stand protectively of the second person, then fired off several shots into the creature. The bullets make a cracking sound as they hit, as if hitting something hard. In turn the Creeper skids to a stop and whips around to face what had attacked it, it shrieks in a higher pitch than before, then charges towards the pair.

@sparrow I've a small suggestion - maybe the insect was an animal that mutated after the bomb was dropped? Radiation? This idea would also imply that our characters can come across practically everything - from giant insects to mutated people. And the beasts doesn't need to be programmed to wipe out humanity to chase it -- humans move, it associates everything moving with food and since there's nothing large enough to satisfy this now giant insect's appetite, it just hunts whoever. X3
@leafpolz @moosecake6 @kurochi-akuma @ilovedoctorwho
-

Aizel gritt her teeth tightly as the beast didn't seem affected by her bullets. Only response was its giant shriek and that in itself only meant it was more angry, rather than injured. If anything, the thing's mobility wasn't impaired in the slightest and it switched courses, heading towards the two of them.
She and her brother were now its main target.
Not only that, her options were limited and whatever resolve for the situation she'd had before fell short at the sight of the advancing monster.
"Mason, left!" she yelled out, her gruff voice outmatching Creeper's shrieks. As soon as Mason understood the words and rushed in the ordered direction, running back into the alley, Aizel aimed again, shooting once; then ran full speed to her right. The beast had hightened senses, she was sure. It had persecuted the two boy -- a large and injured victim, so it's pivotal insinct would be to go after the substantially larger and more harmful target.
Or so Aizel hoped. Reaching into her back pocket, the woman produced a grenade.

@jupiter_hollow - I don't mind at all! Welcome! 😊

@moosecake6 @sparrow @leafpoolz

Chase ran as quickly as he could down the street, but it was only a disoriented hobble to a bystander's eye. The Creeper was gaining on them and it wouldn't be long before it reached them both. Chase sadistically thought of dropping David in the street and making the run on his own, but whatever ounce of empathy he had towards David caused him to think better of it. He ran faster, as fast as his weak limbs would go, but it was useless. David's weight was bringing them both down.

Then there was a noise. A noise Chase longed for. A distraction.

It was a gun shot that went off and, by the angered sound the Creeper made, Chase knew it made contact with it. Whether it had the machine-power to do damage was a different story. It wasn't time for him to worry about that now. He had to fulfill his duty of closing up David's reopened wound.

Chase kept running even though he knew he didn't need to. He had to find a hiding spot somewhere away from this battle so he could quietly tend to David's wounds. His eyes searched from left to right, scanning anything, in hopes that he could find somewhere safe and to his liking. Nothing suited his needs though.

A young girl ran out in front of him and he almost slammed right into her if he wasn't keenly searching the sidelines. She stopped with a small scream, but she quickly put her hands over her month to shush it. Her blue eyes then trailed up and down the two boys standing in front of her, looking them over for anything dangerous on their persons. Once she found nothing in her vision, she removed her hands from her mouth.

"Your friend looks injured." She said, her eyes falling on David's bleeding arm, "I can help. Please, come with me! Hurry! There's not much time!"

As quickly as she came running through, the girl ran off in another direction. Chase thought it too good to be true for someone who didn't know him or David to be helping, but, desperate for help, he decided to run with her. They both ran through the remains of the city, getting further and further away from the Creeper.

@jupiter_hollow I really like that idea. 😃 Especially since I've made so many monsters... XD It may give a chance to use a few. >> If I could put Arrowheads in this... (A monster design of mine) But that may be over kill.... XD

Vincent fell back and hide behind a corner, waiting for a chance to attack the Creeper if it came near. But first he wanted to be sure this weapon wielder was to be trusted...
The Creeper stops shrieking and instead snaps it's jaws repetitively, causing a loud clop sound. Then when the target splits up, goes after the larger half. Aizel was moving enough for it to keep a sharp focus on, and it locks it's full attention on her, turning quickly to follow after. With each change of direction it seemed to become more frustrated.
Vincent notices the younger of the pair take off out of sight, and considers following to see where he goes.

@sparrow Ain't nothing impossible after a radiation attack. xD @leafpoolz So, assuming the bomb didn't affect the entire world, would our characters eventually find civilization? It won't necessarily be proper civilization, but maybe some abandoned cities -- with the buildings intact, but the people dead or mutated. From radiation, you know. I had an idea of involving a military team of soldiers sent to kill any survivors, under the context that everyone alive in there is 'infected' by the radiation and presents a risk to humanity? Not that the monsters aren't enough danger to our characters, but why not add a team of murderous exterminators? 8D @kurochi-akume Thanks. @moosecake6 @ilovedoctorwho Chicka, where you at?

Letting out a low growl of irritation, Aizel found herself feeling as frustrated as the creature following her. The main resolve had been to trap the thing in a narrow alley, or inbetween some ruins, make a swift escape and blow the place up, but that plan required speed. Despite being short and sporting a pair of heavy military combat boots, she was fast on her legs. She had expected herself to outrun the thing, make a few manouvres and lead it into a trap, but Creeper had turned out a little bit faster than any creature the size of it should be.

She cursed while running, seeping obsceneties on the unsuspecting monster's back. The d*mned pest didn't give up or slow down at all -- how vegeful could the monster be!? Despite the uncontrollable anger her expression depicted, her mind was working hecticly to produce a plan of action. Strategy was only efficient when followed by proper executing, she knew that well. However, she had no time, no speed advantage (no advantage at all, actually), little energy and only one grenade she could spare.

She cursed again.

After a while, Aizel felt herself grow tired. With heavy luggage and weapons on her back, lead-like boots and bangs getting in her eyes, it wasn't much of a surprise when Creeper nearly reached her at one point, teeth ready to sink into the soft material of her backpacks. The chase was taking place in a thin neighbourhood alley, which faced the wall of a house, splitting into two separate alleys located perpendicularly to it. It was a convenient perdicament. With a smirk, Aizel made a sharp 90 degree turn, spinning on her heels and ducking away from Creeper's parted jaws. She broke into a sprint along the left alleyway, craning her head backwards to see if the monster made a collision with the wall.

The creature slams into the wall, cracking some of the rock. It slumps back and collapses from the force of the impact. Now it seemed dazed, after a second it begins making a sorrowful wailing sound. The strange sound echos off the fragments of buildings. Then, in the far distance, is a response. A call like the creature had made when it arrived....
Vincent hears the call, than another, and another...
"It's calling for help." Vincent mutters in fearful shock.
He'd only heard rumors that they did that, back when there were people around, now he knew it was true.

The Creeper suddenly forces itself up, and shakes off, still unsteady. It turns to where Aizel had run, and watches for movement. Angrily grinding its jaws together for having lost sight of its target.
