This is a dead topic...
mastergemma • 20 October 2014 at 4:01 AM
@333Until there's a way to implement it that won't cause major controversy, I don't really want to see it happen. I know that I will probably never get some of my favourite creatures and I accept it, it doesn't hurt for me to build a rarer cove and to try to get what I canOne day when maybe there are less of these creatures circulating, maybe there could be a way.
dionaea • 20 October 2014 at 4:19 AM
@333While I agree that they should be brought back in some way (see my dreamcatcher shop proposal), I can't vote yes on this. Eggcave is largely based on rarities and trading, so if done the wrong way this could be a large blow to the site. Voting maybe sometimes, as this is the closest to how I want them to come back, I want them to come back in such a way that anyone who makes an effort can get the creature they want, without needing access to CC or chance being involved.

The Bliz you can probably still get for a manageable amount of EC. Of course, everyone is probably asking for CC right now because of the vouchers, but once that dies down, it shouldn't be too hard to find a willing seller. You'll probably need a couple million, but again, not too bad if you feed a lot and restock and sell travels. As for the Blu, I will be honest: it will take a whole lot of trading up and even more luck. The Blu was an Easter CC creature awhile back. Retired CC creatures tend to get insane expensive, and pretty much everyone wants huge amounts of CC or at least 10-20 creatures for that one retired creature. Of course it depends on the rarity. Unfortunately, the Blu, while not an Onny or a Macbot or Nym, will probably be in the 5000 CC range, if you're lucky. I can see people getting greedy, though.I see both sides to this whole re-releasing drama. I understand that people don't want their very rare creatures to be worth nothing. However, at the same time, people really do overreact. I see people still whining over the Christmas creature re-releases a few years ago, saying that it decreased their values and wah wah wah wah. Uh, no, it really didn't. Unless you mean it'd be hard to get 10000 CC for a single foo. Foos themselves, though, are still pretty elusive and are highly sought after. People tend to freak out without understanding basic economics. I just don't see how people can expect this site to grow if re-releases are forever out of the question. I'm not saying re-release creatures in massive waves, but surely something can be done so that creatures that people charge 20000 CC for aren't completely unobtainable for newer people. Somebody suggested some kind of separate currency that would be more difficult to earn than regular EC. I like something like that. It gives people the opportunity to work toward something--you know, kind of how a site like this is supposed to work. Sorry, but a site that boasts about being free really shouldn't have a "who can spend the most money and get the luckiest with trades or who's been here the longest and knows the most people who totally will give you their onny and tine if they leave â¤ī¸33333 xoxoxoxo" feel about it--and honestly, sometimes it does. That whole "noooo I was here first and you newbies can't even see a tine because mine is so special because, well, I WAS HERE FIRST" attitude really does drive people away, and I honestly see why. Nobody wants to play in such a competitive and elitist environment. Sorry, but that's the truth./endrant

I don't know what to say! âšī¸(Sorry metaphor, your post was a little too long... maybe you could summarise it?)
darexxis • 21 October 2014 at 3:06 PM
@metaphori know wat you mean alot of my friends leave because of that and sometimes it looks like other players forget that CC is real money and not pixel money@333i love the idea of the re release in a smal way like with the dreamcatcher idea from dionaea đ¸
metaphor • 21 October 2014 at 3:11 PM
@333tldrI see both sides of the argument. However, I do think people tend to overreact about their creatures becoming worthless just because a few are re-released in limited quantities. I also think people can be greedy.
hippy • 21 October 2014 at 5:11 PM
@metaphorPeople are definitely greedy, but by re-releasing a few select creatures, it will drive the price down, but the price will rise again. Again, I think EC is trying to find a secure way to bring back retired creatures slowly such as the Leila Oasis and eventual Thief shop. Just give it some time because the EC team has been making some much-needed changes this year and we'll see the implements of the thief shop soon.

OK, thanks for the input guys, really helpful. Hippy, can you REALLY get retired or endangered creatures from the Oasis and Thief shop? If so, AWESOME!
rainbowrocks • 23 October 2014 at 8:46 PM
@333 what? um im flattered i was used as an inspiration but..????i disagreed with the idea. i said the holiday ones should be brought bacj in like the advent calendar???
metaphor • 23 October 2014 at 9:03 PM
@rainbowrocksOh, if that were to happen, people would lose their crap lol. It'd be cool if it were a chance thing (ie., every other day or so, one lucky user has a chance of getting x creature from the Advent Calendar or something), but even that would probably cause butthurt.
mastergemma • 23 October 2014 at 10:57 PM
@333You need to ping @hippy so he can see your reply đTo answer your question, we're assuming that we would be able to get possibly retired creatures from the Thief Shop because it hasn't been open yet. From the Oasis, yes you can get retired creatures. A few Drakomos have been floating around and it's bugging me because I want one XD
veritaspunk • 24 October 2014 at 3:50 AM
@metaphor I agree with this. I'm still in my first month here and I'm actually ahead of goals set...I'm not among the most ambitious I know. I do agree creatures could be brought back in a limited time frame, but I also think players should be rewarded that were here years ago, and players that are here now compared to those that show up years from now, that have continued to be loyal and dedicated with this concept. It's like wanting those classic cars from your dads generation ... they were there, you weren't. ;-)

Some pets are so rare (Doovoo, Macbot, etc) that they are owned by only a handful people on the site. I don't see why we can't reissue the very rare pets for a limited time.
