I got those too! I was able to get rid of them by pressing...was it the + sign that pops up when you hover over it?

Well whatever it is, click it and it sends you to a page that describes what it is. at the bottom it says click here if you don't wanna see it anymore

Nope! It takes me straight to the Infolinks Homepage. Unless we go back to slower speed these will never go away. Wait there is something about Disable Pop up blocker below maybe that'll work@mastergemma

@maiden
I had this happen when I came back a few days ago.
At first I thought I had somehow downloaded a random thing to my browser. But I checked and I didn't.

So I waited for it to load, clicked the little Question Mark and it will take you to a new webpage, and you just have to unsubscribe or disable it via the link on the page it takes you to.
You might have to restart your browser or just refresh the page to make it go away after you unsubscribe, but that will get rid of the popup/ad.

This happened to me after the update. I was scrolling own really quickly on a page when I first realized cause a white smallish box popped up, but then I scrolled past it and I thought my computer was just being weird. The words that lead to ads are highlighted in red (like links) but underlined with a dotted line for me. If you press the x or the ? under it, it will x it out, but if you hover over the highlighted word, it will appear again.

@maiden

Have you possibly tried uninstalling and reinstalling your browser?
Maybe your browser just hasn't updated that you unsubscribed from Infolinks somehow.
Or clearing your cache +browsing history might work too.
(just press ctrl shift delete, in case you didn't know how)

@maiden
Hmm.
I'm not sure why it's still acting that way then.
Maybe it's because it runs off your xbox?
I'm not sure, but that could be a reason.

@maiden
I honestly have no idea, then.
Have you tried looking up why it might be doing this?
Or contacting Infolinks directly via email.
That might be what you'll have to do.

I get those too, except I'm always on my phone, so I can't 'hover over' the ads, but they are red with a dotted line under them, sometimes if I'm on a page for a while, if I try to scroll up or down it automatically opens the pop-up Box then takes me off of eggcave to another site? So annoying right now :/

If you are encountering problems with certain ads please send in a ticket about them. Make sure to include the destination url of the ad and/or a screenshot of it. Ian has the ability to remove ads from the site, and if ads are appearing in places where ads shouldn't then that is something that should be looked into.

@Maiden

Wait... did you mention it saying something about InfoLinks? Like you see a word and its randomly a highlighted link and it makes a popup when you hover your mouse over it? Does it happen on other sites as well? If so then that is not Egg Cave, its a virus.

Try reading this:
http://malwaretips.com/blogs/infolinks-popup-virus/

I had to remove a virus like it from a friends computer before.

@furfur

It's only on Egg Cave. ☚ī¸

If you're not having the problem, is there anything we can do?

@lykhaos117

It appears below the cave, too. When you try to steal an egg, it opens that infolinks, the ones that appear on my PC are Facebook only. They're starting to be bothersome..

Hi everyone, you should definitely check out that link @furfur posted. Infolinks has been integrated voluntarily (I can only assume) by Egg Cave.

I personally find them incredibly annoying and I keep accidentally clicking on things when I hover and the little window thingy pops up. I don't mind sidebar ads. After all, how are our beloved staff going to run the website with no money, but infolinks is very invasive and I actually stopped playing for about a week because I just didn't want to deal with yet another computer thing.

Anyone else think the same, or am I just getting to be a crotchety old woman?

@valkeyrie I totally agree with you, I find them utterly annoying.

I was on my way to start my own topic to complain about it just now, but I guess here is fine. 😊
No it doesn't happen on any other website. Yes I clicked the infolink question mark and disabled them from their own website repeatedly. No I don't have any unknown software or extensions installed. (I checked right now.)
I read the article but I honestly believe it's not about us but about egg cave. And my presence on this website has decreased greatly because I can't change it and it's interfering with my happy time on here.

ok I see now we can send in a ticket about it..... hopefully we can do something about it

@vampitch

Ugh, exactly. I have a huge amount of respect for the EC staff and what they do, but this is just not on. I keep clicking on them by accident, they get in the way, and I'm at a stage in my life right now where (this is going to sound really drama-queen-y), but these small things happening on a regular basis just make my day that much more stressful.
I actually went on an indefinite hiatus from Egg Cave for a number of reasons, but I'm glad I won't have to deal with these yeeping infolinks anymore. Advertisements are understandable, they're the site's only source of income outside Cave Cash, but setting it up in a way that makes the gaming experience actually unpleasant seems counter-productive to me.

Just a thought.
