Frost's eyes watered and tears fell as ice drops. Her hot pink eyes met her brother's dying blue ones.
"You're going to be ok, Pyro! The beartic is gone!" Her whole body was shaking. Not just from the cold temperature, which she wasn't accustomed to, but from shock. It had been a normal day, or as normal as it can get when you've run away from home. The glaceon and her flareon brother were sitting in the cave they had dug out. They had just eaten half of a deerling that Pyro had caught. The two decided to save half of it for later because of the scarcity of food. After burying it in the snow, they curled up together. Frost remembered waking up to scratching and grunting. She woke Pyro up. Next thing she knew, a beartic crashed through the snow wall. It walked over to the snow pile where the deerling body was. Without thinking, Frost tackled the beartic. Being four times bigger and stronger than her, the beartic threw her aside. She ran and jumped on it once more. She opened her muzzle as wide as she could and bit down. Hard. The beartic howled and smashed Frost against the icy walls. It all happened so fast. The beartic's jaws racing towards her neck. Feeling a force of impact. Pyro's squeal. Pyro's coughing fit brought Frost back to the present.
"It took the deerling and left. What were you thinking, you idiot?! Why didn't you barbeque it or something?" She licked the blood away from his face. His body was getting colder.
"S-same thing you were... when you attacked it in the first place: I wasn't. Besides... I could have hit you," he murmured weakly.
"I would've been fine! This is all my fault. If I hadn't attack it, if I hadn't ran away-"
"Oh be quiet. You had... a good reason." Pyro whimpered.
"Save your breath. I'm going to fix you up and make you healthy again." Pyro looked up at her.
"No... your not." And with that he closed his eyes. Frost waited a few moments.
"Pyro...? Pyro?! PYRO-"
"Pepper! If I'm going to die, I want it to because I saved someone I loved not because of a nagging sister!" He closed his eyes once more. Frost couldn't help, but smile. She hadn't heard that name for a while. She curled up next to him for the last time and fell asleep.

shrike:

"i really hope zero is ok..."

he looked around a little bit.

shrike:

"you know what nico? im going hunting. you can do whatever you want."

shrike bounded off.

a few minutes later, he caught the scent of something dying. as he drew closer, he noticed a flareon and a glaceon. since the glaceon was still alive, and probably guarding the flareon, he ran off to find something else.

a few hours later, he came back to the den with a huge sawsbuck. he was exhausted. but he noticed he brother still wasnt awake. in fact, he was freezing over.

shrike dropped his catch at the door.

shrike:

"no!"

he went over, and started taking of ice shards, he looked like a porcupine.

then he sat next to him.

he closed up the entry, leaving a small hole in the entry way to watch for siku, and dragged his catch over to zero, hoping he would wake up.

Siku was nearly invisible in the white snow, but he was there. He got up and pawed at the entrance.

"Sorry he's so cold." he said guiltily, "I found him freezing and unconscious when I got here. I only know ice-type moves, and my body radiates cold anyway, so there wasn't much I can do. He's okay, though."

When Frost woke up, the den was cold. Pyro's heat was no longer there to keep her warm. She stood up and groomed Pyro. He was gone, but she couldn't help herself. When she was done, Frost covered him with snow.
"Good bye, Pyro. I'm so sorry." She turned toward the entrance of the cave before she could change her mind. As she approached the entrance, Frost caught scent of another pokemon.
"Well I've got no where to go and nothing more to lose." She started follow the scent. While Frost followed it, she took note of the feeling of the snow. It was cold and damp. She expected to hate it, because she had lived with flareons her whole life, but she found that she enjoyed it. The harsh breeze in her fur, the freezing snowflakes tickling her ears and tail. Frost began to smile, but it quickly faded and she growled at herself.
"Stop it! Fire is better than ice... right?" Frost stopped walking and sniffed around. She couldn't smell the scent anymore, so she sat in the snow and pawed it.
"I don't know anymore. Mom and dad have always hated me for not being a fire type. Pyro never judged though. BLARG! It just isn't fair! I'm an ice type pokemon who likes fire for crying out load! Other pokemon would think I'm crazy! And worst yet, I'm talking to myself." Frost flopped onto her back and looked up at the sky.
"I just wished I knew what to do."

shrike:

"its fine. at least you knew he was frozen and unconsious. im gonna start a fire so he doesnt become an ice cube."

he let off a little bit of electricity from his nose to the log in the middle of the den. at first there were a few small sparks.

shrike:

"im gonna watch for any predetors or competition. you make sure the fire doesnt get to big."

shrike padded out of the den. he caught the scent he smelled earlier. it was becoming night time. it started lightly snowing. he smeled something dead and ran off to investigate it. when he came to where the scent was strongest, he found a dead flareon. but he wouldnt eat a canine pokemon, plus there was a glaceon nearby, probably keeping watch. he walked off. then he went back to the den.

meanwhile, the fire was getting bigger. zero sowly opened his eyes, feeling very weak. he noticed a throbbing pain in his rib cage. i hope my rib isnt broken... he thought. he scanned the area inside the den, seeing siku. then he raised his head.

zero:

"hey siku, where's shrike?"

Frost woke up in a pile of snow. When she looked around, it was still dark.
"I must have fell asleep," she murmured to herself. After shaking the last bit of snow off her back, Frost scanned her surroundings. Nothing seemed familiar.
"Great. I'm lost, I'm hungry, and worst of all I'm," Frost stopped herself. Then very quietly she whispered, "alone." Frost shook away her feelings and held her nose in the air. Tears came to her eyes. They were from both happiness and sadness. She recognized the smell. The lonely glaceon slowly trudged through the snow toward the scent. In just a few quick minuets, she found herself a little ways from Pyro's grave. As she got closer, however, she noticed another pokemon there. Frost crouched down and slowly advanced to watch. It was an Electrike. To her surprise, he didn't eat Pyro. When he walked away, Frost decided to follow. She tried to stay as quiet as she could. Frost felt if she made any sudden movements or noises, he would attack her. She continued to follow him until he went to a den. All of a sudden, Frost tripped and fell on her face. She stood up and stayed still, praying the Electrike didn't hear her.

shrike heard something and stopped, turning around and looking everyone, til he saw a glaceon that face planted in the snow. he hesitated, and started trotting away again.

zero shakily got up, shaking some tiny ice shards from his fur. he went outside the den, looking for shrike.

zero:

"shrike! where are you?"

shrike flicked his head in the direction of someone yelling. he stopped again, then looked back at the glaceon. was it competition, or was it just curious?

shrike looked back every once in a while, making sure the glaceon wasn't getting ready to tackle him or something. he came all the way back to the den, even though the glaceon knew where he went and might be a threat.

shrike:

"zero! you're ok!"

shrike leaped over.

zero:

"dont get to excited, i think someone is following you."

shrike:

"i know. they're probably just coming to steal a catch or something. hide the sawsbuck."

they both started digging a hole and dragged the sawsbuck in, finally covering it with snow again and not making it obvious where it was.

zero:

"so who was following you?"

shrike:

"a glaceon."

zero stopped. he looked around a little.

zero:

"that doesnt smell like a glaceon..."

shrike:

"unless nico was just tricking me or something, i dont know the glaceon. i dont even know what nico decided to do when i went hunting."

zero:

"whatever is nearby isnt a glaceon, and its not a beartic either. it doesnt have much of a scent..."

shrike:

"lets go see what it is."

they both came out of the den, seeing something big and white in the distance.

zero:

"what is that?"

Frost watched the Electrike go inside the den. After a second it came back out, followed by another one. Are they going to attack me, she wondered. They didn't seemed focused on her, but something much more dangerous.

then, stomping out of nowhere came an abomasnow, probably looking for food.

zero and shirke growled and snarled at it, trying to ward the wandering abomasnow somewhere else. wait, were abomasnows even carnivores?

Frost slowly turned to see an abomasnow looking down on her. She didn't know much about them, but she wasn't going to wait and see if it would eat her. She turned around and faced it, growling and snapping her teeth in warning. The abomasnow reminded her of the beartic, which reminded her of Pyro. Rage boiled inside of her. If the abomasnow made anythreatning moves, she wouldn't hesitate to kill it.

Frost saw one of the Electrike fly pass her and the glaceon's instincts kicked in. She sprang and went for the neck. She thought about her so called "family", Pyro, his death, and how it was all her fault. She bit down as hard as she could. An explosion of blood filled her mouth. She started to choke and let go. Big mistake. The abomasnow was able to rake it's claws on her side as she flew into the snow. Frost's vision blurred, but she forced herself to stand. Shakily, she positioned herself to jump again.

the abomasnow flinged him off its arm, and zero landed on his feet.

he charged and jumped, going for the neck. over shot. he landed on the abomasnows face, causing it to go crazy. then the abomasnow slashed at him several times til it hit zero's bad spot; his broken riib. instincivly, he let go and fell on the ground, heavily breathing, his broken rib throbbing with pain again,

shrike snarled and growled again, finally making the abomasnow slowly walk off.

When her vision finally cleared, the abomasnow was already walking away. Frost turned around to see one of the Electrike laying in the snow. Limping as fast as she could, Frost managed to make it to its side. Memories of Pyro laying in the snow, dying, flooded back to her.
"No, no, no, no, no! Please, not again! Can you here me? Please be ok!"
