Nico overheard what BC was whispering to herself, and his ears drooped pitifully.

I guess I really am no good. he thought to himself as he trudged along. He didn't say anything to Siku, even though he was grateful that he gave him another chance.

zero looked at nico. then he heard footsteps, followed by growling. he looked around and didnt see anything. he tilted his head in every direction til a very fast and thin beartic pounced on him. they rolled around, scratching and biting each other. then 9 more beartic came to the pack. shrike knew he had to fight. he pounced on one of the beartic, growling. they were pretty fast, so most of them started scratching him.

he jumped off the beartic before he could bite him and jumped really high in the air. he felt confident. the beartic ran after him and started scrtaching him everywhere, and he soon lost focus. he was only about 3 feet off the ground when a beartic dashed over and slashed his throat. he drew in a sharp breath as he hit the ground, breathing hard. he couldnt get up. the beartic almost ripped open his throat.

zero bit a beartic and grinned in delight. then, when he heard shrike breathing hard, he looked over and gasped. he started running over. he got there, panting. shrike wasnt responding. he coughed up some blood.

zero:

"no....."

shrike's eyes closed tight.

zero:

"no!"

zero loomed over him.

shrike:

"zero, its ok. dontworry about me. go defeat those beartic. im counting on you!" he said, with a scratchy voice.

zero was wide eyed now, trying to be tough. but he couldnt help it. his eyes started filling with tears.

zero:

"no! shrike! dont die!"

shrike opened his eyes and slowly shut them again, his breathing slowing.

Siku bounded over to shrike and gently put a paw on Shrike's chest.

"He has been mortally damaged," he said sadly, "There is nothing we can do. Aittaaq, Zero, but I suppose I can't fix this one."

*Aittaaq means "I'm sorry" in Inuktitut, the language that Inuits normally use.

zero dipped his head in sorrow. then, he felt a fury of energy he had never felt before, building up inside him. he felt like he was going to become a phoenix or something.

he looked up in a flash and had a very fast flashback, so fast he could barely tell what was going through his head. it finally stopped and slowed to a normal speed when he ws a baby. he played around with shrike, running around in circles.

then his eyes narrowed. he knew what he had to do, and the flashback wasnt part of it. he turned around quicky, glaring at the beartic. they did this.

he looked back at siku.

zero:

"siku! go find a max revive, and hurry! i've got this."

he tried to look as threatening as possible, glaring fiercely at the beartic. he circled around the 10 beartic slowly, growling as loud as he could. one of the beartic charged. zero narrowed his eyes even more and did a graceful backflip. his eyes glowed purple, and he grit his fangs. he charged at the beartic full speed, knocking them over like bowling pins. then he jumped in a fighting position and turned to the beartic. he picked one out, charging at it and savagly ripping it up.

"Siku, stay!" I yelled. "I've got a Max Revive!" I stuffed it into Shrike's mouth, not seeing anything behind me that might be attacking me.

I felt bad aboot judging Zero earlier.

Siku's jaw went slack, amazed.

"Where did you find that!?" he stammered, "Max Revives don't ever appear in the tundra. W-where..." He looked down at the ground, still stunned. His eyes were as wide as dinner plates.

Nico seemed just as amazed.

"T-that could feed a Pokemon for weeks!" he yelped, "And you didn't give it to us sooner!? I'm glad you have it to help Shrike, but where in the world did you come across that!?"

I pointed to my Bag. It was mostly hidden under my fur, and it was fancy, compact and light and spacious. "I've been keeping all sorts of stuff in there," I explained. "Actually, I came across it in this weird metal box thingy in the middle of nowhere."

shrike slowly opened his eyes.

shrike:

"wha....what happened?" he said, quieter than normal.

shrike tried to get up, then he just fell to the ground again.

shrike:

".......i think im gonna need help getting up."

zero continued to rip up the beartic, tiny pieces of flesh snowing all around them. after killing 3 of them, his fangs and claws were stained in blood. he growled fiercly at the rest. they werent backing down. then he pounced on one and used full attack power and used thuinder, shocking the beartic and static shocking the ones around him. he kept ripping them up, trying to teach them to never come back, for they almost killed his brother. he was extremly protective of shrike.

I felt a little nauseous again with all the dead Beartic around me. I understood Zero's anger, but I just wasn't used to killing.

zero could sense everyones emotions around him. after killing 8 of the beartic, one of them ran off. now there was just 1. he growled. the beartic started backing off, seeing the rest of his pack dead on the ground, their bones were almost visible. zero growled more. he wasnt backing down. the beartic finally snorted and started walking off. zero grinned. just for fun though, he chased him and the beartic went dashing through the snow. zero ran back, panting a lot. he had used up so much energy that he blacked out, collapsing softly on the snow.

I acted as a crutch for Shrike, helping him walk a bit. I also gave him some Oran Berries.

zero slowly woke up, rolling to his other side and struggling for a minute to get up. then he turned to everyone and stretched, trying to regain some of his energy. he was still light headed, having barely any energy. he slowly walked over to the others.

shrike saw zero and knew there was something wrong with him. he was usually showing off or running around or something, but he was quiet and swayed a little every time he walked.

shrike could finally feel his legs. he made sure they werent stiff any more and figured out he was just fine. he looked at zero again.

I gave some more Oran Berries to Zero when it seemed like he could swallow them. Nico and Siku didn't seem that injured, so I decided to save the rest for later. I reminded myself that Nico was part of our team now and I had to help him, even if I didn't like him at all.

after eating the oran berries, it barely helped. oran berries heal, not energize. he slowly walked over to his den, shrike following.

We helped Zero get to our den. I let Nico in, because he couldn't do much without his pack.

zero sat down in his branch of the den, tired.

shrike looked at him and back at everyone else coming into their den. he sealed the entrance with snow after that so it would stay warmer and used a medium sized static shock to start a fire on the remaining logs.

Siku stayed back, afraid that his presence would make Zero more cold. Sparks from the fire danced inside the den like a gentle swarm of fireflies. Nico hesitantly crawled in and curled around Zero. His warm, puffy tail surrounded his body comfortingly.

"Sorry about earlier." he whispered, "Please, feel better soon."
