Commons...

To some people on here, it makes people shudder when they say that word.

I'm sure you have all experienced this one way or another. It's also a common (lol. common. that was unintentional) expression to refer to them as junk eggs since you probably have a bundle full of them you need to get rid of anyways. It even became a social etiquette to avoid offering a junk egg on a lot.

Sometimes, you might see a "Starter Pack" floating around in the trade center, full of commons. Mostly from people who took too much of them, discover feeding 200 commons every day was a lot of work, or realize their value, so decides to give them away to Noobs. The cycle repeats.

Because of the commons availability and possibly, the "noobness" of it, they often become forgotten in the midst of the Nyms, Tines, etc. Some people take advantage of their availability and collect a bunch of commons (lol @ thedragonpalace) or use them as name holders.

Have we forgotten about our first creature on EggCave though? The one that started with us on our journey…

Can we just take a moment to appreciate them?

For example, the Frice. The art for the Frice, is pretty dang good. Looking at it, it’s one of the most impressive art I’ve seen on here and probably my favorite (I like more realistic-ish art).

The most popular common, the Tasma, is obviously well liked in the community (everyone loves wolves or cats here). Awesome colors running through the body. I believe it was also a suggested creature too

The Honk, plainly and simply, is a duck. Or er, maybe it’s a duck swan. Either way, have you guys seen duck-swans in real life? Adorable. That’s why they make rubber duckies. Because it’s adorable and fun.

Oh, and the infamous Yeep. We can blame all our problems on them. Wonderful creatures.

And the spooky Spidet. Honestly, it scares me more than the other Halloween creatures. You have to admit, the art is pretty nice.

The Nipha, whom, if you read the description, could probably guess that it’s a nod to the Last Airbender. I love the second stage, the colors, and the idea for this creature. It’s like a white tiger.

I’m going to end up spamming this entire place so I’ll let other people have a chance.

My first creature was a Drakomo. Yes. The VERY FIRST CREATURE to be created on EggCave. It use to be a common. People use to hate them cause they are junks. (Everyone wanted the Mo lol). It’s dead now, sadly, but I use to collect a bunch of drakomos. 1500 clicks was really hard to get back then lol, so very few of them hatched. I guess this contributed to their unpopularity then. Now I like Masers. They’re the best. So cute. My collection is @noble . Please gaze into its beauty.

@iceiceice My first was a Flor.. Unfortunately she dead for one of my hiatus.. where people said me "Don't worry.. i'll keep them feed" And i really trust in them.. and in the end, when i come back here, i was sad to see most of my creatures died. That is because i try now to come here once at day! Now i collect Tasmas! @natsume now is my storage.. but it isn't ready yet xD
I remember my first time i trade something.. someone gift me a lot of immortal commons and i was really happy to had them all. 😊 I said thanks to who gifted them to me (i can't remember who is.. xD )

O, it's ok. I disappeared for two years and came back to see my creatures died. rip drakomos. I think I'm guilty of the feeding promise. x_x I can't even feed my own creature. I wasn't sure what I was thinking when I decided to try and keep three coves with 100+ creatures fed daily 😋 But I understand you XD

Dang, that's a lot of Tasmas.

So you're the Tasma collector. 😋 I remember seeing someone who was collecting Tasmas but I don't remember who lol.

@iceiceice 3 coves with 100+ mortal creatures?! That is too much difficult x'D i can't keep too much mortals .. especially in this period!

I'm not the only one that collect Tasmas .. there are a lot more users! like @ushafuse and.. @cami
And @crystalstars have a great collections with commons!

my first creature on egg cave was GyspyMagic and I will always keep her. i love owls and i thought it was fate that an OWL was my First creature. I've been here ever since.

my first honk was Black Pearl and I still have him and always will. Black_Pearl started my honk collection. I've had many more honks, but had a honk adoption center for a few years. I keep getting more, even after saying NO to myself over and over again. I can't resist them. So, my late friend @mighty-lair (rest in peace) said I was an addict, so my next honk after that conversation was Addiction and will never leave my cove in her honor.

I love all horse creatures and have a few Fairtops and adore Ignalts. I love MO & Terron creatures and have plenty at @my_immortals_62

My obsession will be Honks first and Obarns second.
I'm trying to end gaining anymore - as you can see by my egg collection(s), I haven't mastered NO, yet. ❤️

I joined around in 2013, and I know I had gotten at least 10 creatures, but after forgetting that this profile even existed, they had all died off at some point.

but upon returning, I suppose the first I picked up
when trying to refill cove was Iskar.
I was amazed at how beautiful the art was and if I
didn't want to flood myself I'd take all the commons
I pick from the cave, just to see what they evolve into

i've had some super nice friends that've gifted me
a lot of retired pets, hopefully one day I'll be able
to be the one to give the gifts. I'm already building
up my gift/trade tab ( ◜◡＾) Hoping to fill it with more
CRW Creatures before the week's over.

I love all the bird related ones, my current favourite
is Vemod. I got him through trading.
One day I hope to get him fed enough to get to the
final stage, so pretty!!

Yeah rip. They had really amazing creatures too! (I remember they had an Onny), so I didn't want them to die. But eh, I was probably the cause of half their cove dying. The three coves were from the same family too, I think, all with those "legendary" creatures.

I didn't think too much of the Frice, but after staring at mine, I noticed how nice the art was for it. O_O

My first creature. I have no idea. But I think it was a err, Maser, or something. But definitely it died. Or maybe buried inside my cove or something..

My favourite... *quickly look through archives* To be honest, I love Garguaith. My favourite is the Kaihon, to think about it now. But my obsession was always Tasmas.

I never really cared about the art and yes, I just realised the Frice's art is excellent.

I remember when the Frice was released. I think majority liked it but it was quite a while ago. The art definitely is lovely.

When the Maser was released I knew it had to fill my cove. The art was captivating to me and I loved the concept. That style is also my favourite of the Egg Cave artists.

With the newer releases the Kangchroma captured my heart. I adored the Aussie kangaroo on Egg Cave and I wanted all of them.


No matter how much everyone 'despises' commons, we all still had the newest released one in our coves for a while. We all enjoy looking forward to the next one and having the newest one and going 'oh my gosh it's a ___.' And I always have a chuckle when I see a newer player trying to trade for a CC creature with a common, it's a rookie mistake. We all made them.

While I definitely understand the joy of trading, and the difference in values of creatures, I find it kind of sad to see how amazing creatures are seemed 'worthless', just because everyone can get them :S I love the art of so many commons!

While my favorite creature is the Tasma (well, my absolute favorite is the Zinzall, but that's not a cave creature 😃), I also love the Pangolin, Shrew, Pthali, Maser, Kaihon, Krah, Unhemn, Diablos (I'm super happy that I already had those four before they got endangered) and many others 😃
The Bunthoff was the first creature I ever wanted, and it's still one of my favorites!
From recent released cave creatures, I love the Canosh and the Texu 😊



I believe my first creature was an Aerlo. But I wasn't really happy with it, I wasn't that much of a fan of dino's. It died when I took a year hiatus, sadly.
Also, I don't know any more collectors than already noted 😊

I can't say what is the best art style, but personally I love the more detailed drawn creatures. When it comes to art style, I love creatures like the Zinzall and Tasma (I love furry creatures 😸), but also the Pangolin and Pthali. Also strange creatures that are just weird, like the Yeep, Unhemn and Shrew, I really like 😃

The Garguaith is fun for me because I think it'll be interesting to have a mutated plant irl. Other EggCave creatures are freakin' dangerous but a mutated carnivourous plant seems more...tame. o-o And it's mouth is making that "garrahhaarawwhhh" sound.

I think the Maser's art style really contributed to the uneasiness of the creature. Whether it was intentional or not, the art/color fits really well with the creature. It's also a very mysterious creature....what could be behind that mask? it mimics other creatures too...

I think the Kangchroma is the first Kangaroo creature too! I've only seen the egg/first stage creature, I think, so I'm not sure what the final form is.

I forgot about the Shrew DX It was one of the other common creatures I think is really nice for a common! The nose looks really floppy. flop flop flop...Aw man, I need a shrew now ;A;

I like the Pangolin better than the Pthali because more colors o-o The name seems switched to me lol.

Too bad the Krah is endangered now. uwu. I want a shark.

I must agree with your comments about the Maser. It's mysterious and the blue/grey colour scheme really complements the archive entry.

I love Puffups. They are just so cute. I Think they are the unsung darlings of Egg Cave. I don't collect them but when I come across them in the cave I usually take them 😊

Yes to the Nipha as well. Why I have one frozen at 1st .

Savarab- Love every stage but the 1st is just so sweet.


Have a Honk I named Rubber 😃 Have a fondness for them since my daughter really loves the Ugly Duckling story.

@iceiceice I remember joining this game when it was introduced to me through a friend. Back then a whole bunch of us played it, and now I'm the only one left.

My first creature was a Tasma, back when I got it I showed it off to all of my friends. They haven't seen one in the cave yet and absolutely adored it. It was followed closely by a Unhemn, which is now an endangered creature (I wish that I had gathered more of them, they're so cute!)

My first creature was a Rosse, which I auctioned away. I honestly didn't really like the design of Rosse, which was my reason. I think a lot of commons have very pretty designs, but I feel unattached to them because of that reason- they are common.

My favorite common creature design would have to be Wynerl. That tail, and those colors! They just fit so well together. C:

I'm actually collecting Puffups because they are just so cute! My favorite stage is the teen/final stage. The smile and tounge hanging out is so goofy it makes me smile too. I have 45 right now and counting. I'm planning on making a storage account for them.

@iceiceice - I LOVE commons! 😊 I don't see why so many people don't like a common! I STILL like all the commons! Although I don't adopt them unless It's a Honk or Tasma or is a species of a pet someones hoarding. 😊

My first pet was A-Great-Friend! And i'll always keep him. Although I changed his name due to the fact that I named him -savanna And this was a time that you couldn't see the gender of the pet until after you adopted it (that was SO annoying!) And it ended up being a boy so.. Yeah. xD

Anyway, my favorite common is the Honk. I LOVE honks!!! 😊 I hoard Honks, Tasmas, Harpises & Tammicks @savannas_aviary (have over 70 Honks, 80 Harpises & 100 Tammicks!) But when I first joined I saw the Honk & was extremely sad about it because I thought i'd never get one because I didn't realize that they were just a common pet.. 😋 But Anyway, not even a few days after I joined I saw a lot up with a mortal egg Honk saying he was free to a new user. I was SO happy! I was so happy that I even PM'd the person & promised him a good home if they would let me have him! Well they said yes & I got Decany, My first Honk! And he started my love for them. And I even kept his name by the way! 😊

Sometime later I found my first Honk from the cave, A female Honk! I named her Trumpeter-Swan & I made them mates & they've been here with me ever since! 😊

Some of the Honks I've gotten from the cave, Some I traded for, But actually, Most of them I got from newbies who quit & put their pet's in the auctions or older users that didn't want them & put them in a trade saying they'll let them die if no one offers. They didn't care about their fate. Well I took action & bought any in need Honk I saw! and And I still do. I try to tell myself that I have too many Honks as it is but my heart always tells me that they need help & I give in. xD
I got so many other commons from rescuing near death Honks in trades xD But I promised them a good home, Immortalized them all, And used a feed pack to evolve them all! Although now I need to use another one since I have more because they were gonna die. I have a problem... 😉
From now on, I'm gonna immortalize them & maybe evolve if I can and give them to someone who would like them! So they'll never die! Although I might just keep them because I have a problem. 😋

Anyway, I love commons though! I always try to immortalize any of them so they won't have to worry about dying! 😊

If you want you can name my side @savannas_aviary about my Honk, Harpis & Tammicks. But I don't know if it counts because Harpises & Tammicks were monthlies. 😋

and i got a small hoarding of some commons @kyuubi
i have a small collection of star commons @dafqon
and here on my main i have a muska's and Teckarcks

if we get more tabs or if we can make more coves i will hoard more commons not all 52 that are now in the cove but atleast the Ikamifoo, Dinno, Crabbert, Ringtail and Obarn

i love most of the commons way more than the old/le and cc pets 😋

my favorite common is probably the Nipha although in my head i always call them the Nimpha XD
