Tanis nodded, still frowning. Her hand fluttering down to assure herself that her shortsword was still hanging on her waist. A slip of hair fell loose from her knot of a ponytail.

Orok grunted, heading to retrieve his axe. He was used to being left at guard duty by now.

Callie was inside the camp, ready for another hunt. She hoped that this one went smoothly like the rest. She grabbed her recently sharpened throwing knives from her sides, ready to fight.
"Hope everybody's ready." Cal smirked, and looked at the rest. "I know I am."

Gaiye sighed softly, enjoying the tug of a gentle breeze in her hair. Her ears stirred slightly catching an outburst of birdsong somewhere deep in the forest. She sniffed. The air smelled of spring. She startled as someone appeared from a row of bushes. His form was just visible in the shade of a tree. Gaiye blushed as his warm brown eyes met hers. "Come on, we'll be late for school..."

She opened her eyes to find herself in camp. Several groups were about to head out monster-hunting. She however, would remain in camp. Gaiye needed to be prepared in case a group returned early carrying members with serious injuries. She narrowed her eyes briefly at Callie before turning to stare up at the dark clouds looming on the horizon. She co-operated with everybody in the group perfectly except for Callie. Something about her, she didn't know what, rubbed her the wrong way. Whatever it was, Gaiye always felt a mounting tide of resentment towards her. To prevent conflict, she had thus learned to evade her.

Eon glanced over at his group, adjusting his grip on his weapons. The other groups were almost ready to go. His was the only one not fully prepped to leave.

"So how long do you think you'll take?" He asked, glancing at his group.

Erebus grinned widely at the sight of the snake twisting around Helen's neck. Oh how much he absolutely adored those animals. "Helen!" He called out in a sing-song voice. "Adorable little animal you've got all over you. I have one of my own as well." He chuckled, referring to the large tattoo twisting around his back.

His attention was directed elsewhere as people hastily began preparing for the oncoming night. He hefted his enormous scythe, before motioning for the darker part of the woods. Erebus's red eyes slitted as they adjusted to the dark. A soft glow emitted from his pupils as he waved for the duo of humans he had called to be in his group. "Eon, my darling. No need to worry about the time, we'll return by daybreak!"

"Come on my children." He said happily. "It is my time now, and Daddy's hungry." His brows arched lightly towards Eon and Kate. "I'll search for a side meal while we hunt for beasts."

Aisha watched Erebus begin to lead his group out. She faced Tanis and Eldrias. "It's time we set out too!"

^^^^

Gaiye stood up and walked around a bit, stretching her legs. They tended to get a bit restless if she didn't exercise them over long periods of time. Her eyes flickered over to Helen at Erebus's comment. She did indeed have a snake trying to strangle her. Her healer instinct's kicked in, whereas she stepped forward to lend a hand before she remembered vampires were not required to breathe. Gaiye had always found that an unsettling element of vampires'.

She resumed exercising her legs, walking back to the spot where she had rested a moment earlier.

Eldrias nodded and motioned the group to follow and she plunged into the forest. She had her bow ready for anything and its runes illuminated a small area of forest. She perked her ears and listened for any sound of beasts.

Meishra quickly shoved her hair into a messy braid. It's strands were quickly fading into a pale silver and her eyes began to burn violet. She felt a sharp pain in her stomach and when she reopened her eyes she felt like biting all of her fellow hunters. She breathed deeply trying to stabilize herself.

Callie then decided to stay in the camp, due to the fact she didn't have a partner this time. She glared at Gaiye, and looked back. She didn't want to go this time. Karma went behind her and decided to bite her in the neck, causing the beast to overpower her and attack. It was only until somebody from the shadows decided to attack the beast. Her partner fled behind her back, which caused Callie to be handicapped. If it wasn't for that person who saved her...
"You know... We could've went ahead and hunt like all the rest, but you decided to stay. I'm not gonna do another hunt by myself due to a chicken partner who decided to ditch me." She said, directing her words to Gaiye.

Eon momentarily scowled at Erebus' word before he shrugged and followed after him. "You do what you need to. If you need someone to watch your back while you do, whatever you do, you've got us." he said shrugging as he fell in just behind the vampire.

Logann volunteered to stay back and watch the camp. She glanced around as she leaned against a mighty oak tree. The girl noticed Callie and Gaiye arguing about something not too far away. Logann, very curious, started to walk over.

Gaiye snorted disdainfully. "Like you could complete a hunt by yourself! You should be grateful your teammates are nice enough to look after a thing like you."

^^^^
Aisha trotted into the forest after her group. She kept pace with Eldrias, swinging out her bow from where it was slung across her shoulder. A bush rustled a few yards away, and she thought she saw a flash of a midnight black pelt.

Callie approached Gaiye, her weapons in her sides.
"Listen. I've been through a lot lately, and you don't know what has happened in my life. My father died, my mother left me after that, my entire town got burned down because of beasts! I bet a thing like you would be beaten up by a bunch of beasts!" Callie never wanted to back down. She had been dealing with grief and vengance, to the point where she needs to hunt Beasts in order to deal with it.
"Besides, you know nothing about me. Before you say anything to people, you should know not to judge a book by it's cover."

Gaiye stepped a few feet closer too. "I'm sorry to hear that. But you are not the only one who's had problems. And maybe you shouldn't judge people on their background. You do not know anything about me either, so I suggest you don't call me a coward." She added sharply.

"I'm not afraid of a little fool like you." Callie sneered. "And I'm going to fight these Beasts for everything that I've lost, and for the sake of getting this over with. I've lost both of my parents, my brother, and many more. I'm willing to die if it means saving them." Her blue eyes shimmered. "And if you say that I'm just worthless, pathetic, and just a human who can't do anything right because they're generic... You better think otherwise." Her voice started to become strict.

"I'm impressed that you made it this far, Callie. I guess you're ready to face real enemies, one who will try to attack you. Just remember to not use these abilities of yours to be evil. I've trained you to be a guardian, a knight, a huntress. Your brother would be proud..."
A deep male voice rushed towards Cal's head. It sounded like her father.

"And I'm not letting you get in my way." Callie added, her voice starting to become taut by every word.

Tanis swiped her hair behind her ear, stalking off after her companions. Her eyes peered upward through the trees to the dark gray cloak eating the sky, making it almost impossible to tell if the sun was still up. Tanis decided it was safest to assume not.
"We should head for higher ground, it'll give us more of an advantage." She withdrew her shortsword from its shealth with a sharp ringing sound as a flicker of movement was seen in the corner of her eye.

---

Orok turned to the raised voices, scratching his forehead. A Saytr and human were glaring daggers at each other. The image of two she-wolves fighting for dominance popped into his head. Orok dug his boots into the ground wishing they'd stop being so loud.

Eldrias nodded. "That's a good idea... I think there's a hill over that way somewhere..." Eldrias replied indicating a direction. She heard a rustling in the bushes to their side. What was that? she thought.

Meishra half consciously clutched her ears her sensitive hearing being quickly overwhelmed by Callie and Gaiye's loud bellowing. She was getting dizzy. Others were bothered by the noise but she was pretty sure they didn't feel like their head would split open.

"I don't care to know your life story," Gaiye snarled back. "Go tell it to a rat! I came here to defeat the beasts, not to argue with a grungy little girl. I am not the sort of person you should be ordering around." She added threateningly. Her hooves were placed in a defiant stance, her ears laid back across her head. It was too late to back down. Either that, or show up to the rest of the camp as a milksop.

She did not have time to voice her opinion. Aisha had hardly fit an arrow into the quiver of her bow and pointed it at the bush, before the Beast came running out. It had leathery black skin, with a form like a panther. It's red eyes glared at her with unrestrained hatred. The Beast let out an angry roar before charging them.

"And I don't care about the likes of a stupid brat like you!" Callie never grabbed her knives. She promised to never attack anybody who's on her side. She then attempted to shove Gaiye away from her, and then rushed towards the forest by herself, before the night is over. Callie had never seen such an insufferable person at all. If Cax was still alive... Nevermind that! Cax is old news.
She saw Aisha and a group rushing about to be attacked by a beast. Not willing to see anybody get hurt, she decided to rush towards the group, her throwing knives at her hands.
"Need any help? The camp is filled with a bunch of uncooperative people..."

Gaiye managed to shove Callie back away from her before the girl ran away. "Coward!" She muttered under her breathe, watching the figure retreat back into the forest.

"We're fine, thanks!" Aisha said, briefly surprised by Callie's sudden appearance. She swung her bow hard, hitting the charging Beast on the throat. It fell to the ground with a growl. It quickly shook itself off, and leaped at Callie, claws out.

"Yeah... This thing is targeting me now..." Callie then moved backwards and threw her throwing knives towards the of beast, and attempting to rush in and kick it in the chest with her shins.
"It's not like I'm going to leave you hanging and watch you die. Does it look like I enjoy seeing anybody on our side die?" Callie's voice starting to become strident and strict towards the beast.
"Now, off this beast go!"

Aisha swallowed a snort, half-amused. She admired the girl's spirit, but it was going to take much more than one Beast to end her. Spotting an opening, she darted right by the Beast to a tree. She winced as the creature whirled, catching her on the leg. Undeterred, she reached her tree, and bounded up to the closest branch with the best vantage point. Aisha then started sending a shower of arrows down on the Beast. She noted with satisfaction that most of her arrows made their mark.

Tanis tensed as the Beast came out of nowhere. Another girl from the camp appeared, distracting her for a moment. The Beast lunged at Tanis, knocking her to the ground. Tanis yelped, its black claws sinking into her shoulders.
Don't panic. Tanis kicked upwards at the Beast, but she might as well been kicking a rock.
Don't panic. She tried to stab the monster, then realized she'd dropped her own shortsword in the confusion.
Don't... panic. The Beast bared it's dagger-like fangs down at her.

Callie glared at Aisha.
"You're just like the others at camp..." She then lunged towards the beast, knives at the side ready to attack. She then created a deep puncture wound at the beast's neck, and started to go down the line, hoping it would grab the beast's attention.
"You think I'm worthless... Pathetic..." Her voice started to become wobbly, and the negativity turned into anger. "Hopeless... Unable to fight a single Beast because of how weak I am... A thing. Just some bait for the beasts..."

A foul, ink-like substance splattered from the Beast's wounds. Tanis ducked under the Beast's grip, rolling away as it was distracted. She hissed loudly in pain, red oozing from her shoulders. Tanis scrambled for her sword, which laid a few feet off in the thickets. She clutched the silver blade tightly in her hands, cutting her fingers in the process. Her hands were bloody and slimy, making her grip on the shortsword slippery.
Tanis turned back to face the Beast, readying her stance. The distinct sound of someone speaking was heard in the background. Tanis ignored the annoyance, rushing forward to slash at the Beast.

Aisha scowled at her, puzzled. "What are you talking about?!" She was about to say more but paused when she sensed Tanis needed a bit of back-up. Sending one more arrow into the Beast's neck, she leaped from her tree and onto the Beast's back. Aisha quickly snatched out a stray dagger she carried with her, just in case, and buried it into the creature's back.

She briefly turned her head to gaze into Callie's eyes. "I'd never think those things about you."

The sound of battle issued from the section of forest where stupid Callie had vanished. I hope a Beast eats her.. She thought angrily. Gaiye suddenly felt guilty. She did not favor Callie one bit, but she would not want her dead... Dispelling the dark thought from her mind, Gaiye glided back to her spot by the patch of bushes. She picked up her axe and rolled the handle between her hands, half-wishing a Beast would foolishly attack the camp, so she would have an excuse to whack something with her axe.

Eldrias quickly shot an arrow into the beast's side. She clambered up a tree and sent a volley of arrows into the beast's thick hide. She suddenly heard another growl in the branches near her. She glanced that way and didn't see anything yet...

"Ugh..." Callie groaned, and then rushed towards the beast with her last throwing knives, and started to quickly attack the neck by creating a deep puncture wound.
"Everybody at camp's just acting like a fool..." She muttered to herself. Callie then decided to do a roundhouse kick to the neck at the beast, hoping it was strong enough to have it get knocked back.

Aisha rolled her eyes at Callie's vague response. Obviously, she was just being moody. The Beast collapsed, overcome. She quickly grabbed her dagger out of the Beast's back, slashing at it again for good measure. It's pelt twitched once and was still. Aisha began to drag the body into a bush a few yards away where it would be out of the way. She started at a low growl. It seemed to be coming from a tree overhead...

Eldrias leapt to another branch just before another beast leapt out. It had bat like wings and a wolf like body. The beast swung its head back and forth as it attempted to choose who to attack. It flew to the branch Eldrias was on.

Dropping the Beast, she quickly plucked an arrow from it's pelt. Aisha ran swiftly around the clearing collecting her arrows. She turned to send an arrow right into the bat-winged-wolf.
