Leafshade growled at the warrior. She did not fight along side him for as long as she did to see him go like this. "Thornhollow! Look at me! Your mate and kits need you! You aren't going anywhere!" She turned and growled to the apprentice. "Mousepaw! Go get Frostfur. You must've seen her out there. We need her. NOW!"

Hawkstorm heard the commotion outside and rushed to see. "What's going on?"

"Be brave, kits." I choked out with my last breath, black staring to fill my vision then, and I felt as if I was losing feeling of my body. And then, I was gone, walking into the light of StarClan. I glanced down one final time at my dead body and family, then walked into the stary ranks.

{Lavenderfur}
"Thornhollow no!" I cried, watching his body go still. I hung my head and drew my kits close to me with my tail.

{Snowkit}
"Dad!" I screamed, pawing at his body, "Get up! Get up!"

{Sandkit}
I slumped next to my mother with sad eyes, I was in shock, for once, I felt unsure.

{Cloudkit}
My eyes widen with shock as I looked at my father. I wanted to go comfort Snowkit, but I felt frozen.

{Mousekit}
"Dad?" I meowed, my voice soft and confused, even though I knew he was gone, I had a slight hope he would respond.

"Thornhollow!" Leafshade yowled. "Thornhollow! No! Come back to us. No, no, no, no..." She leaned over the deceased warrior with grief. "He is with StarClan now...If only Frostfur were still here...I can't believe she just ran off like that..."

dewflight halted seeing thornhollow's life ebb away, leaving his family in despair.

dewflight gasped her eyes widening, for a med cat, she wasn't used to death, she hung her head.


"may you have plenty of prey, and lots of warmth and love"

"may starclan light your path" dewflight whispered.

FoxScar looked sadly at thornhollow "he was a good warrior..".

I hung my head respectfully for a moment at Thornhollow's death. "He hunts with StarClan now." I meowed.

{Snowkit}
I stared at my father, rage staring o burn inside me. If Frostfur was there, she could have saved him, if stupid Mousepaw had not gone out on her own, her father would have never even have been hurt. Rageful hate burned inside her.

{Snowburn}
I went over and silently comforted my sister, my tail lain across her shoulders.

{Heatherpaw}
I rolled my eyes, "Great." I mumbled. "Another rotting corpse in our camp."

{Ravenpaw}
I nodded in agreement with Heatherpaw, even though on the inside, I thought the warrior had earned a little respect.

Mousepaw saw Thornhollow's last shudder of breath. She felt immediate guilt, rage, and sadness for his death. It was all her fault. She shouldn't have gone off into the forest like that... she was angry at herself now. "WHY? WHY AM I SUCH A BAD APPRENTICE? I COULD HAVE SAVED HIM!" She yowled in rage and guilt. She sprinted off into the woods, and curled up in a tree stump she came across a while in. Then she realized she should do a vigil- no, she could do one by herself. She sat outside, her tail curled up over her paws. She was the worst apprentice Smokeclan ever had.

Leafshade went after the apprentice. When she found Mousepaw, she curled up beside her. "You know, no cat is perfect. Not me, not Frostfur, not Dewflight, not even Ashstar. It was actually a good thing you ran off, because at least we can find Frostfur now. There was nothing you could do. From the time he was injured, he was in StarClan's paws. Whenever you're ready, let's go find our medicine cat's apprentice. Who knows, maybe you'll be made a warrior sooner than you thought."

And with that, Leafshade stood up and headed back to camp.

I growled as I watch Mousepaw leave camp. I would never forgive her. And I would never forgive Frostfur for leaving my father dieing.

{Sandkit}
I heard Mousepaw's cry before she left camp, and I could'nt help but slightly agree that it was all her fault. /If she had just stayed in camp like she should have!/ I through madly.

{Mousekit}
I felt sorry for Mousepaw, but also felt distant from her. It was true that it was partly her fault.

{Cloudkit}
I didn't know what to think, I huddled closer to Lavenderfur.

{Lavenderfur}
I held my kits close, thankful for my sister Snowburn beside me.

{Snowburn}
I had heard Heatherpaw's comment and shot her a glance, but did nothing more at the moment, not wanting to leave my sisters side.

{Ashstar}
I raised my voice and yowled. "Every cat old enough to catch their own prey, gather around for a clan meeting." There was nearly no need, as much of the clan was gathered already, but I hoped Frostfur way in the forest would hear me.

Frostfur pricked her ears. Someone was yowling from camp. It sounded like Ashstar...

She headed back.

I nodded as I saw Frostfur walk into camp. Mousepaw and Leafshade were not that far off, so I knew they would hear me when I spoke. "Thornhollow has died a respectful death of a warrior, protecting his clanmates from a fox. His bravery shall not soon be forgotten!." I started the meet.

dewflight heaved herself to her paws padding up to heatherpaw. "heatherpaw, may I speak to you?" the medicine cat said anger slightly visible in her voice.

FoxScar hung his head "we've lost so much these moons..." the old tom whispered.

pinestream halted shocked by thornhollow's death, "oh..my...i...why?" the queen said frozen with shock.

I stuck my tongue out at Dewflight, "Don't you think it would be a bit rude to chat while the leader is trying to speak to the clan? Maybe you should shut up and listen." I hissed quitely to Dewflight, then I turned my back on her to listen to Ashstar.

"Its a most tragic death, only a day after our deputy Swanheart died, and i'm also afraid that the bad news does not end there. Frostfur has informed me of a dream they've had, of the river swelling up and drowning some of our cats.

"I want to send a patrol out next dawn to follow the stream. I want it to look for anything that could block the stream. The trip may take days, even maybe a moon. With all this happening, we need new cats ready to defend SmokeClan then ever. That is why I have decicded to apprentice Lavenderfur's kits a half-moon early. Kits, would you come foward please?" I meowed.

Mousepaw padded into the clearing after Leafshade. Her head was hung with sadness, anger, and grief. When she heard Ashstar's announcement about a patrol, her ears perked up. She looked up a little bit, only to find other cats glaring at her. She hung her head again with shame. Well, hopefully something good would come out of today, other than the kits being apprenticed. Maybe she would be chosen for a patrol...

The kits walked up, seeming rather suprised. I purred and started the words. Snowkit, Sandkit, Mousekit, and Cloudkit, you have reached the age of 5 and a half moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Snowpaw, Sandkit, Cloudkit, and Mouseypaw." I said Mouseypaws eyes widen with worry for a moment, I went on. "I've changed Mouseypaws name for as of now because we already have an apprentice named Mousepaw. When Mousepaw is made into a full warrior, Mouseypaw well have his name changed back to Mousepaw." The young apprentice seemed to relax at this. I went on. "Snowpaw,Your mentor will be Bonefur. Sandpaw, Your mentor will be Leafshade, Cloudpaw, your mentor well be Hawkstorm, and Mouseypaw, your mentor well be-"

"Wait!" I cut of Ashstar, then I shyly ducked my head, not liking every cat looking at me. I shyly stuttered, "I-I want to be a medicine cat apprentice."

{Ashstar}
I was not suprised at the young toms choice, and I nodded. "Then your mentor shall be Frostfur." I looked out at the clearing, "Viperkit, I know you where raised alongside Lavenderfur's kits, but you are a half moon younger then them, and I'd rather wait till you are old enough to make you an apprentice." I paused, then went on, "I understand you all must be confused, as Hawkstorm already mentors Ravenpaw. I know Ravenpaw is a smart cat, so from now on she well have no offical mentor, but the entire clan well be respossibale for her. This also goes for my own apprentice, Heatherpaw. I struggle to find the time to mentor her right, being leader and all."

Yes we do now have two medicine cats and an apprentice. This is different but not something that couldn't happen in the real warrior books, as it has. Their are no real limit to medicine cats, just most times cats would rather be warriors.

Mousepaw' head was still hung with shame. Oh great, she thought. More apprentices in the den. Mousepaw felt as if she needed to prove herself to the clan, especially the kit- no, the new apprentices, and their mother as well. She knew they would always hate her. Mousepaw wanted to become a warrior at last, but that would have to wait. Maybe if she... no, she would need to do something amazing, save many cats' lives to make up for Thornhollow's death. Maybe, she thought, if the flood happened... she could save cats' lives! That would definetly make up for Thornhollow's death!

Frostfur watched in shock. Mousepaw wanted to be a medicine cat? She couldn't believe her ears. "Are you sure, Mousepaw? This is a sudden decision..."

"And big." Leafshade meowed. "Mousepaw, it wasn't you that killed Thornhollow, it was an injury from a fox that needed gone anyways. It wasn't your fault, if that's why."

((Who is the new deputy? After Swanheart died, one would need to be picked by moon high.))

dewflight purred happily "im sure frostfur will pass on the knowledge in caring for clanmates and the nature of herbs too you, mouseypaw" the she- cat said happily.

pinestream padded over to lavenderfur and her kits "maybe you should talk to dewflight or frostfur, you might need something for the shock" pinestream said halting "im so sorry, if you need any help im right here if you need me".

Mousepaw walked over to Mouseypaw. "I hope you like your training," she said to Mouseypaw. Hopefully not too many people would get their names mixed up (ahem... leafstar 😊). Mousepaw wanted to be a warrior so badly, she would probably do anything in that moment to do so.

Yesss! Mousepaw thought, exited for the patrol. Finally, she might have a chance to prove herself to the other cats! Hopefully it'd be an exiting patrol. Hopefully though, she didn't get hurt. If she was crippled now, she would never become a warrior.
