I also don't understand how people have a wishlist on their profile, and they aslo say NOTHING IN MY COVE IS UFT!!! -what the??

@whitefall most don't continuously keep asking.
@dionaea there are almost no beggars around. If there are, just report them, and that will be it. People shouldn't be getting angry now just because they were asked like that in the past. If they are, it's partly their own fault for not reporting them in the first place.
@cqpkytty yeah, I guess people usually reply on the other person's profile. You find that out either by someone who tells you nicely or someone who tells you the not so nice way. I agree, it's pretty hard on newbees when you don't realise what's rare and you offer junk eggs unknowingly on a lot, then you get back chatted about because of it.

@james-bond

Some people just get really annoyed over it, that's the way they are. XP

Actually, I find it OFFENSIVE hardly anyone asks for my creatures. XD
(Not really, but yeah, I make jokes about it. XD)
I mean, who WOULDN'T want a lovely Caiman named Steampunk?
*Lays on my stomach and pokes SteamPunk continously to annoy her, almost making her snap off my fingers*
See! She's SOOO lovely~~ XD

You're asking our opinion on why we think people go berserk. We, ourselves, never have actually gone berserk, but telling you why with think so. You don't have to chastise us.

I've had beggars, and I've told them politely it's against the rules. I don't feel I should report someone for something they don't know any better from.
I only have ever banned one person.

We're not all out to look down upon newbies. Heck, I've founded the big sibling's clubs; which is made to help them.

I am not chastising you @cafe this is merely a debate type conversation. Just like @icymuffin said. And it kind of doesn't make sense if you say that I'm severly critisizing you and then saying that you aren't fighting, because that is the sort of thing that provokes a fight. I do not want this to turn into one. I reckon this is a good topic to debate about.

@james-bond

Us in general, not me.
And I didn't say you're severely chastising me. o_o

When I meant chastising, I mean how we try to tell you, and you dig deeper, that's all. I don't consider chastising by the dictionary definition, so that is my fault on that part and I'm sorry.

I'm debating too xD

I read profiles (including creatures) because I'm curious. 😸 and for the fun of it.

I don't really get annoyed when people ask although there was one incident that made me annoyed: "My star alkub is uft. Star creatures are the rarest of all eggs. I will accept shaibun or eylemo." That really annoyed me because it sounded 'stuck-up' and as if I wanted to trade.

I don't normally trade, so I don't ask for people's creatures, but yes, I do understand it can get really annoying. I remember when someone kept asking for people's creatures for free because it was their birthday. >.>

@cafe the definition for chastising is severly critisizing. When you say "we try to tell you, and you dig deeper" that is exactly what you do in debating.
Let us put a hault (a sudden stop) to this and continue with our debatations. 😃

@evolutary yeah, I agree that does sound stuck up. But maybe English isn't their first language, so they don't know how else to word it. But still, they didn't really need to incluse the "Star creatures are the rarest of all creatures" part. Or maybe they did because it shows why they are asking for rare creatures.
And yes, as far as I'm concerned, asking for your creatures because it's your birthday is exactly the same as just plain asking/begging for creatures.

@cafe She didn't ask me though, but to every profile I went to, there was that post. >.> It was really funny, actually. xD

@james-bond My wishlist is more to remind me than to trade for wishlist creatures, or creatures that would be 'nice to have' but not necessarily want. For example, I don't like the new creatures that much that I'd trade my creatures. xD

Edit: Yup. Some people use their birthday as an excuse to get creatures for free. Saying, 'It's my birthday today, I hope I get presents,' is fine, but saying 'Please give me some rare creatures because it's my birthday today and I didn't get any presents,' is annoying.

@james-bond

I know, and again sorry, I used chastising in the wrong context. I have a habit of doing that when I'm not paying attention ^^; Odd how I only do that when I'm typing, never happens when I'm talking.

I do think some of the oldies jump too far on newbies. Again, they don't know better. As I said earlier; I would only get upset with someone [Not necessarily "go berserk"] over Sammii because of what she means to me. The other's I may get just a tad annoyed, but politely tell them no/ just delete the comment.

@evolutary

She asked me, on both my accounts, lmao.

but even "it's my birthday today, I hope I get presents" is still a bit... well... kind of annoyingly expecting.
@cafe it doesn't matter anymore. 😊 Which side of the debating are you on dude? The "Reasons for Why people go bezerk and why they shouldn't" side or the "Why people do go bezerk and good reasonf for it" side? XD

I don't think it's just oldies and newbees necissarily. And I don't understand how people make a split between oldies and new bees anyway. Does anyone know? To me, I kind of think of themselves as oldies are a bit up themselves and thinking that they have better creatures, know more about egg cave, ect then people who have joined more recently. To me, the egg cave community is the egg cave COMMUNITY. Not the new and old.

@james-bond

I'm raised to look at both sides of a situation, so I will probably be talking all over the map [One minute talking about how one should have the courtesy to look at the profiles, the next saying how the people being asked should be a little lenient.], but I think sometimes people do snap at people over eggs too much.

And, I used oldies and newbies as what they are, older eggcave users and newer eggcave users. [All that separates them to me is their knowledge of eggcave]

Older one's should know the rules by now [After what, over a year?] and newer ones have a reason for not knowing; they haven't learned not to ask if they're about a day old.

Now, noobs are another story, roflrofl. They can be new or old, but act like brats.

@james-bond (it's etc) Oh yeah, I guess it does sound annoying 'I hope I get presents'.

People can be quite 'discriminatory' (<-- is that word used in the right context?) between 'newbies' and 'oldies'. Personally, it doesn't really concern me as long as they both get along and are nice to each other. 😊

@james-bond

I'm not saying it's allowed to snap at people, but you were asking why people do it and I gave you the reason I think they do. I also agree with cafe, in this case you should look at both sides of the story, because some newbies simply don't know any better, so it's best to explain carefully why they shouldn't have asked and give them some instructions on how to go about trading (maybe refer to one of the creature values threads on here).

As for oldies an newbies, it depends on a persons attitude, some people can be considered mature eggcavers after a few weeks, while others still don't get it after being on here for months. Oldies doesn't always refer to oldtimers anymore. Maybe we should use different terms, like senior arkian for mature users this is referring to and leave oldie for the real old users. Because sometimes oldies can actually be more lenient than senior arkians, so this definitely shouldn't just refer to the really old accounts.

@dionaea yeah, I don't know why people use the terms oldies and newbees. It's kind of pointless, eg. What if someone moved accounts after a year, and they wanted to trade with someone who's put up a sign post saying "ONLY TRADING WITH ACCOUNTS OVER 6 MONTHS OLD". ?? I personally don't find that fair. I know quite a few senior arkians that want to do unfair trades. And alot of the time, newbees are taken advantage of by more senior users.Yes, I understand that you gave me a reason why you think people snap at people, and I countered that, that's all. Like peole said. This toipc is a bit of a debate.

@evolutary I'm sorry, etc. The problem is though, that a few people are quite discriminatory, thus don't get on.

@cafe you say that all that all that makes the split for you between 'oldies' and 'newbees' is their knowlege of egg cave. And then later, you say "Older one's should know the rules by now [After what, over a year?]" And that is splitting he two groups by age, and not by their knowlege of egg cave. Just saying, ya know. This is a debate after all.

@james-bond It's fine. 😸 I am the grammar and spelling police after all.
---
Ouch. This computer's 'T' button hardly works. I never realised how much I use the 'T'.
---
I don't understand why 'oldies' discriminate the 'newbies'. I don't think there should be a term like that at all, other than a nice greeting like 'Hi, I'm a newbie here' and 'I'm an oldie, you can ask questions' is fine. In other cases, if someone doesn't want to trade just (note that I said 'just') because they are a 'newbie' is unfair. Anyone can be mean or ignorant, 'newbie' or not.

@james-bond

I'm usimg a general discripton of people. Usually someone a day old doesn't know anything, but someone older //should// have learned the rules.

I was using a year as an example

I may also use the term for account age though. Like newbies = new players, oldies = old players. And in that the old players should know the rules. And the new players usually haven't learned everything.

I do think it's stupid someone won't trade with someone under a certain age. Unless they have more than an unusual amount of super rares (Seems just a tad suspicious)

It is slightly annoying, but I never lose my cool because I'm too lazy to put NFT in my profiles, and besides, I want people to ask.
It's flattering.

Lol the oldie complaint thread 😃

But anyways if it specifically states in either the user profile or egg profile that it is NFT, and someone asks if it is, I can understand the owner blowing up, especially when it gets to a point where people are always asking. Even more so if it's like a Tine 😋

I've never actually had this problem. Maybe I'm too intimidating that people don't dare ask for my eggs xD The only thing that annoys me is when someone asks something ridiculous for, say, a monthlie and then they say something like "I see you want this on your wishlist, I'll give you one for your Valgun and Pixgog/Raicorn" And yes, this has happened o3o

I usually won't freak out if someone asks me.
Sometimes I don't even respond because if you want me to be completely honest, I hate saying no. Don't ask me why.
I can see how it can it frustrating when you clearly state such creature is not UFT yet people insist on asking you. I wouldn't snap and get all high and mighty about it, but I'll admit that it can get kind of frustrating.

Deleted • 18 September 2011 at 10:55 AM

Some people will get really angry when people ask if a creature is uft/ufa because a lot of times it clearly says that no creatures are uft/ufa in the person's profile text/the creature's text and will snap at you because you didnt read it....i usually just say 'No, sry dont ask again.' and if the person continually aks I just say "NO, STOP ASKING!😋" but i dont like go bezerk over 😋
