I'm a bit confused about how views are updated in V3. Are they updated only at midnight, at midnight or during recaching, or every few minutes?

Regardless of the answer, there seems to be a view recording bug. If views are only supposed to be updated at midnight, the bug is that the number of views can increase slightly throughout the day and creatures can evolve before midnight. If views are supposed to be updated every few minutes, the bug is that some views aren't counted until midnight.

For example, my Koin was able to evolve yesterday at 10:51 AM, and Koins evolve by views. If views are supposed to update only at midnight, this shouldn't have happened (though I don't mind that my Koin evolved; just pointing this out as an example of a bug).

An example of the bug if views are supposed to be updated every few minutes: I posted a bunch of my creatures up on another website, and since then, their view count has been steadily rising throughout the day by gaining ten views or so (the number might be different, but the point is that the rate isn't particularly fast) every time I login to that website. I check my stats every few minutes, and I notice a slight increase in view stats every time I look. Then midnight comes along, and all of a sudden, the view counts increase by nearly 300. This implies that views are either counted multiple times, some views are not being counted when they are supposed to be, or that view count is displayed incorrectly or in a misleading manner (for example, is the "real" view count at any given moment the views number alone, the sum of the view count and views today, something that updates at a certain time, or something else?).

I personally think that views and view evolutions should happen at real time or close to real time like they did in V2. There are some users who are able to get views quickly yet want to freeze their creatures at a certain stage and are concerned about overevolving if views were only updated at midnight.

I hope these examples make sense...

Edit: The view count changed again. Before midnight, it said my Nunny needed around 200 views, around midnight, it said it needed 10 views, and now it says it needs 174 views.

Hi there! Here's how this is supposed to be working, although it's possible that there are bugs. Here's the expected behavior. If you can, please tell me how what you're seeing is differing than the behavior below:

1. In version 3, the "views" you see in your Cove and on your creature profiles is LIVE VIEWS, including today's. "Live" means the count is updated every 3 minutes.

2. In version 3, the blue secondary views number in your Cove and on your creature profiles is TODAY'S VIEWS. Live views includes this number.

3. At midnight ECT (12:00 AM), today's views "reset" in that the IP addresses that have viewed your creature are cleared, so that they can begin generating new views again.

What are you noticing differs in this behavior? Please let me know. Ping back with your findings. 😊

@Ian

I'll have to check again at midnight, which is when this occurred, but throughout the day, live views were updating as you said until then. At midnight, view counts went up by over 100 then dropped to slightly more than what they were before the sudden increase.

For example, here is a rough analysis of what happened to theoretical Creature A's view stats:

('a' represents the theoretical amount of views it had whenever I first logged on, 'b*Δt' represents a small increase of b views for a change in time of Δt (this rate varied, but I hope this is clear), 'T' represents the total views a creature gained in 1 day which would be the integral of b*Δt from the time I logged in to around midnight, 'B' represents a random large number of views added around midnight, and 'Δx' represents a small number of views)

(throughout day): a + b*Δt
(right before the weird stat change): a + T
(around midnight): a + T + B
(shortly after midnight): a + T + Δx

I also received about thirty evolution notifications earlier today with no creatures actually evolving and some of the notifications being for the same creature, for creatures far from evolution, and for creatures already in last stage. I read on your blog comment that this particular issue was fixed though. 😊

I hope my explanation of what's going on is clear... I've taken a bunch of math classes which require math proofs and now have gotten used to explaining some things that way... ^^;

I'll check again at midnight if I'm awake to see if any of these issues are still occurring.

And thank you! 😊

(this is @lykhaos117)

So there seems to be another view-related bug, but I wasn't sure if I should've made a new forum since this bug seems related to one of the previous bugs. So after the fake evolution bug was fixed, view counts for some creatures reset to equal the number of view stats received today. The levels and stages remain the same, but the view-stat number displayed is different.
