What's y'all's favorite video game series, and why is it your fave?

Mine is, no contest-Pokemon. It's had a very heavy effect on my life since the age of 6-7, and alongside virtual pet sites developed my love of collecting digital creatures to interact with. I was first exposed to Pokemon through the collectable cards from my cousin, and upon my cousin showing me gameplay of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue became obsessed, begging for a DS Lite from my parents to play the game myself. For my 12th birthday I got my wish and the rest is history.

My favorite generation is generation 5 because I think it's where the graphics and style peaked alongside each other and it introduced so many quality of life features that still affect games coming out, although I will always be very fond of generation 4 as Soulsilver was my first mainline Pokemon game. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky absolutely had the most emotional impact on me. It has a very compelling and intricate plot with beautiful pixel graphics for a children's game series so I would recommend it any day of the week.

Pokemon introducing mechanics where you could bond with your Pokemon was one of the best features they could have added to me, like in generation 6 where you can feed and pet them, then in generation 7 you could wash them as well. Generation 8 took a slight step back in my opinion because you barely had any real interaction with them, although watching them interact with each other was very cute. Generation 9...I have very complicated feelings about that I'm still unpacking to be honest, and as I haven't finished the storylines I won't elaborate just yet. I would also appreciate if yours is also Pokemon to refrain from plot spoilers in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet in discussion.

@anomalous Pokรฉmon is def one of my top favorite game series. I have to admit, i dont have a huge reason as to why outside of the many designs/arty style and the main line and spin off games are fun to play. I've also loved colleting the pokemon cards haha.
second top is overcooked, I love that one so much haha. its a fast pasted cooking game with obcsticals, its really fun to play.
Another game series I've always like is the elder scrolls series, thought I've only played the third (morrowind)and the fifth (skyrim) one haha. but i enjoy how open world it is, and i love morrowinds monster designs.

@anomalus I have played *a lot* of games. But I always go back to The Sims. Currently Sims 4. I am also a fan of the Elder Scroll series @dragonii. Nice to see another fan. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love The Sims! Create a Sim in Sims 4 is so good... but I can't help but favor Sims 1 overall. The nostalgia, of course, the simplicity, the SOUNDTRACK. It's a go-to listen for me. The build mode was always depressing to me as a kid. As an adult, I love it. It gives goosebumps and makes me long for the past. It's such wickedly beautiful music.

@dragonii
For me, my favorite part about The Sims is creating Sims and then designing and furnishing houses! The game is fun too, especially thinking back to childhood Sims 1, I loved playing that... but designing houses was always my favorite part. Made me want to be an architect when I was a kid and got me really interested in it. Other than my own designs, another thing I did was check out blueprint / floor plan books from the library, and recreate them in The Sims 1. :-D

@anomalus I adore pokemon. My fave is gen 8 because that is when I bought the first pokemon game for myself for once and not having to hope my brothers bought pokemon before that, which they never did sadly. Scorbunny was my first starter and I love him dearly.

My fave game is obviously Sword so far, Scarlet is nice, but the graphics are just... so awful...

My fave pokemon are: Garchomp, Mimikyu, Obstagoon, Lurantis, Rayquaza, Midnight Lycanroc, Cinderace, Lucario, and I do very much enjoy the new Slither Wing โค๏ธ

Although I used to quite often play the Monster Hunter series, I started with Tri, but I was like 6(?) and was really bad at it and scared to fight the hard monsters. Got back into it at like 14 after watching my brothers play 4 Ultimate and gave it a whirl. It was amazing. I defeated mostly everything by myself and for once carried my weight when playing with my brothers :] I was so happy when Monster Hunter World came out, and I dropped it after a while because I got busy/obsessed with anime and also because my head would hurt after just one battle because I got motion sickness playing sob... I defeated everything (nearly) by myself before the expansion came and then my skill was not so great compared to everyone else but I logged like 60 hours so whatever- the new one is cool too, I just don't like the monsters as much as World. Almudron and Valstrax(?) is cool though.
My fave monsters from that game are: Odogaron, Lagiacrus, Agnaktor, Kuarusepusu and the Devil Jho

@daisycat See, I started with Sims 2 so that is nostalgia for me. But it's ok. Sims overall is amazing! I personally find Sims 2 the best out of all of them. I just wish it had the same graphics as Sims 4, haha. I'm so glad to find another simmer! ๐Ÿ˜Š

forsure love pokemon, my first game was leaf green. Despite not being mainline, I really love arceus and how it implemented a new way of playing, open world, throwing pokeballs(I suppose let's go also did this but it's on a different level). I do agree I love the interactions we saw with pokemon in X & Y, and the character customization through outfits we got โค๏ธ (very lacking in outfits in S/V).

my other top favorites are Dragon Age-- for the story(and your ability to alter your story; your choices in game #1 affects the next games and so on), battle mechanics, and character customization.
And animal crossing ~~ love decorating and collecting

@anomalous I really loved Pokemon! I started with gen 3, but I also enjoyed playing gen 4 and gen 5. I played all of them in emulators on my phone. But, by far, my favorite game series is Sonic. Don't think that I'm blinded by my preference, I do know games are glitchy and weird. My favorite one is Sonic Adventure 2, but I enjoy a lot Sonic Generations and I just finished Sonic Frontiers. Pretty enjoyable games.

@nerdbear I also started with The Sims 2, far more detailed than the sims 3. I had all the expansions for both of them in different periods of time.

Im always focussing on 1 game at the time. So currently I'm playing Hogwarts Legacy, and before that a lot of Stardew valley and Animal Crossing New Horizon. And before that a lot (and i mean a lot) of Sims 4.

My mom didnt allow me to play or watch pokemon. But when I moved out, the first game I bought was Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (and its still my favorite)!

My top favorite is definitely also Pokemon; I didn't get into it until I was 17, but it's completely taken over my life ๐Ÿ˜‹

My second favorite would have to be the Ace Attorney series! Those games were a huge comfort for me my freshman year of college ๐Ÿ˜Š

Pokemon is my favorite too! I always liked the anime as a kid, never had a chance to have a game boy or a game boy advance so first i played online fangames like pokemon crater. The first oficial game i played was Pokemon Diamond on a emulator when i was 12, and i loved! A year later a received a ds from my birthday and the first game i played was pokemon Soul Silver. โค๏ธ
I don't played many games because where i live it's very expensive, my favorites is Pokemon black and X. ๐Ÿ˜Š I bought Pokemon Moon for christmas, i hope it arrive in time lol
Right behind pokemon : Animal Crossing and Professor Layton โค๏ธ

I'm a big fan of pokemon and that's why my friends suggest me to play this game. She said "hey there is a game can hatch many different eggs, will you come?"
I came.
Beacuse I really like hatching eggs in pokemon(*ฯƒยดโˆ€`)ฯƒ
But my favorite pokemon is gen3, this game allowed player have their own secret base. Torchic and mudkip still my favorite.

Oooh! This oneโ€™s tough. I think currently itโ€™s probably the Project Moon universe. Itโ€™s just a really good storyline with three extremely fun games.

I do need to get caught up with Limbus though lol!
