Kiana took a step back, then sat on the bed. "All I wanted was to be left alone. To not be locked up in these buildings. To be able to eat fresh meat when I wanted it - and NO, I don't mean people! Just squirrels and stuff. But then there was the Hunt, and I knew what would happen if I was captured, so yes - I did fight. But I wasn't trying to kill, just to escape. And now, I'm just trying to be on my best behavior so that I could get a little piece of the forest to run free in when I'm not in class. And I hate being in class, in these confining buildings. Do you really think that if a shapeshifter isn't made civilized, they're a threat and are evil, and don't care who they hurt? Can't you understand that some people don't WANT to be civilized? All I want to do is leave this school and go back to the forest. So if I can't, could you please just not hold a grudge for no reason at all?"

"You mean the rules that are made by people who don't understand the call of the wild? You mean the rules that can be just as much a prison, to a person of the forest, as a jail cell? You mean the rules which confine us to society's standards, to "normal", and don't let us do what we need to? Breaking the rules is not what I want to do. I just want to follow a different set of rules - the first set of rules."

Kiana opened the window, jumped out, and became an eagle. She spiraled up into the sky, feeling the freedom of wind on her feathers.

Kiana easily dodged the rock. She flew on as if in a dream, euphoric with her freedom...She was suddenly brought back to earth when she slammed into the side of a building.

Nikki's eyes widened in suprise when she saw the eagle soaring, its feathers soaking in the sunlight, fading in and out of the bllue sky, and it hit the building.

Abby felt pain rush through her. Nikki's eyes were golden and she seemed to have linked with her. Abby struggled and let out a scream. "MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP! NIKKI DON'T DO THIS!" Her wails echoed through the hallways. she fainted from the pain.

After a brief bit of fun with a mouse (not going into details here), Kiana soared back up high, flew through her window and into her dorm. If any of the teachers discovered her absence, she would have to wait much longer for her bit of forest.
